Feeback Fest 2024: H50 Fic Recs
For International Fanworks Day, February 15 (for more information see this post by @transformativeworks)
Thank you, babe @stephmcx because of your great fic rec list I noticed this amazing Fic Rec Day! I'm not often on Tumblr anymore scrolling and discovering interesting things and I miss the interaction with other fandom folks. And here you are, posting a great fic rec list of the most epic OTP ever: Steve and Danny.
I have my McDanno 'go-to' fics I love dearly but for this list I put together a different number of McDanno stories from my bookmarks. I hope some of you haven't read them already. Maybe there's a chance you find an unknown great McDanno story. All of my recommanded stories always act like a large safety net of love I let myself fall into when I need those special, unique, and most magic McDanno vibes.
1.Blue Shorts and Gloves by WeirdoOfTheCentury - Summary: Danny... well Danny is Danny. Stella is a protective Sister and both Steve and herself wanna commit a crime when it comes to Danno. @shadowhunterdownworlderhybrid
2.Touch My World With Your Fingertips by kristen999 - Summary: Danny has plans for Steve when he returns home from his reserve drill.
3.More Than Words, Part One by Candy_A - Summary: The first chapter in a series based on the events that follow Danny's rescue from Colombia (Episode 5.17). In this installment, Danny returns to Hawaii and he and Steve begin to cope with the reality of Danny's ordeal there. (Nine parts belong to this outstanding series)
4.See You Tomorrow by bgharison - Summary: "When we were leaving the office, I said, ‘see you tomorrow’ to Chin and Kono, and they said, ‘yeah, see you tomorrow'. I said, ‘see you tomorrow’ to you, and you said, ‘goodnight’, And 'goodnight' sounded like 'goodbye', okay?""I wasn't saying goodbye," he said, finally. But he kept his eyes fixed on the water.
5.Why don't you try me? by azziria - Summary: Steve and Danny both want the same thing, they just don't know it yet.
6.Back To Back (They Faced Each Other) by harrycrewe - Summary: Danny didn’t even realize that Steve was a sentinel when they first met. That probably said a lot right there about what kind of a guide Danny was.
7.Like Death and Taxes by ariadnes_string - Summary: "One of these days," Steve growled, voice low and rough and filthy, "I'm gonna rip this thing off you and gag you with it." (That's my very first McDanno fanfic I read.)
8.Moments In The Skript by joannereads - Summary: Hello all! So, over the last few years I have dreamed of a few scenarios before, during and after the events of The Script. I wanted to add to it, but never found the time, so now I'm making a point of doing it. I'll add to this as and when I have time or the muse is singing. Some of the stories will be teen and up, some explicit. Hope you enjoy! (RPF)
9.Close To Me by joannereads - Summary: Danny Williams is 17. Steve McGarrett is 26. They all live in Hawaii. And their lives are about to get really, really messy. Because Steve? Steve's his brother's best friend.
10.Sock Monkey by Cattraine - Summary: He’s late; he’s running late when the call comes in. One minute he’s sitting at a traffic light on a perfect day on his way to work, bemoaning his lack of coffee and the next he’s screeching the Camaro’s tires towards the accident, heart pounding, keeping perfect time with the chant in his head. No, no, no. It can’t be.

I know it's been a while, but with the new 911 season coming up ( I will not be watching, probably check in every now and again) I wanted to share my own self check of how I view relationships on tv.
After S6 finale, I was like lost and furious, I mean, I wanted and still do want the last 6 years of my life back from 911. (Well three because they didn't always suck).
But I went back to watching normal TV, you know, the kind that portray relationships and are being clear of the direction.
I watched Good Omens, so rooting for that pair, they are the best! And with that cast of unbelievably talented actors, I enjoyed every minute of it. Point is I didn't allow myself to see that friendship as a ship because of how damaged my perception of on screen relationships became after 911 displaying all the right signals, then taking a hard left into a tree at the end of the seasons.
I am not even going to to touch the First Prince of RW&RB, which is essentially a buddie storyline that was followed through to its logical conclusion.
I also thought, maybe I just can't enjoy straight on screen relationships anymore and I'm looking for more.
My sister sat me to watch Bridgerton for the very first time (just S1 for now) I can say with absolute certainty that it dis-abused me of that theory as well, because I rooted and got excited for Daphne and Simon at first sight.
Such a wonderful love story told right!
These are the two prominent tv shows that cemented my belief that it is in fact not on me.
Going back in my head I remember rooting for Catherine and Steve, and almost every one of Danny's gfs (except Rachel, it was clear she'd break his heart again.) In H50.
I wanted Gibson to end up with Andy in Station 19. Never wanted her to end up with Maya or him with Miller.
And even though it didn't need to be said, but was said in a humorous fashion, the writers also made clear that Gibson prefer women.
So it is in fact the flawed 911 writing that got me to give up on all forms of logic of reading tv relationships right.
That I gave up on tv for a while.
But, that being said, I can say I was always attracted to Ryan, but Eddie always got my gaydar to go off. And Oliver is not my type, but Buck is a hot bi firefighter - and that is a thing I already thought in S1, way before Eddie arrived.
So either the writers has no clue what they're doing, or they did and chickened out last minute.
And I finally reached the point where, I throw in the towel, wish you all well and move on.
It is not just about buddie, it is just a buddie post.
If anyone is interested, I can make a whole post involving the "development" of the rest of the og characters, where I say enough is enough.
Either make them interesting again, or bring in new blood that hasn't been first a piece of ass to further Buck's questionable development.
Let me know if you are interested.
The blinders are off and I am not keeping quiet for the sake of followers anymore.
9-1-1 was a great show, 3 seasons ago. They had sparks every now and again in between, but those were few and always demolished in some way by horrible writing choices.
Thank you for a great time, this fandom has been a place to come to whenever I needed to escape reality, I love you all. ❤️

Wait, Alex removed some of his tattoos? When??? Why??? Who authorized this???
I’m legitimately smad about this. 😂
Yes, Alex has removed some tattoos--and he has also enlarged and added more details to other tattoos. This website has a lot of pictures and info about his tattoos.
I'm going to just go from what I remember, so I may not be completely accurate on all this. Alex used to have a forearm tattoo. There are pix on the above website that show that he had it removed before H50 started.
In the first few seasons, they would put makeup over both the gecko and the line around his other nipple whenever he was shirtless. Sometimes they did a good job covering the tattoos, sometimes they didn't. You can actually play a fun game of 'spot the gecko' in the first few seasons.
I am guessing Alex got tired of having to spend extra time in makeup for shirtless scenes, cuz he then had the nipple tattoos removed or at least faded. You can still sort of see the gecko in the above link if you are looking for it. And I'm sure Alex was super happy he went through all that only to be given scars in the season 6 finale. Scars that had to be applied every time he was shirtless.
Alex continues to have his shoulder tattoos touched up and recolored as needed. It's hard to tell with light and camera angles, but some seasons these tattoos are definitely more faded than other seasons.
The original tramp stamp over his bum was a large black design. Sometime in season 3 or 4, Alex had it covered by an even bigger design. It's hard to tell, but it's apparently stylized waves and maybe a Maori inspired design? This article does a good job covering the tramp stamp.
bonus! Scott also has tattoos. He has a small cross on one hand and three dots by his thumb on his other hand. There are photos floating around the Internet that show he also used to have letters on his fingers that spell 'pony'. I am not sure if he let the letters fade or if he had them removed.
Here is some pix of Alex's tramp stamp. All these photos are from the above website:

ooh-hoo for wip guessing game: 'star' for H50 and 'beach' for S&H. mixing it up. also 'wolf' for Due South bc I wanna elicit any Dief that might be in there
star (h50)
there's soooo much starting, staring and startling, one "touch-starved" and one (my favorite) "mustard", but turns out the best i can do for star as a word in itself is this:
But he also doesn’t have any money on him and his car is out of gas miles from here and the area is so remote Google Maps doesn’t even work and he hasn’t seen a living soul since it got dark and the clouds obscuring the starry night sky say it’s going to rain any minute now.
which is from a fic (or a snippet, because it's pretty aimless) about nahele getting stranded and calling steve because he has no other options left, and steve driving out there to pick him up like a wet cat, and nahele figuring that he's just used up his one (1) favor he can ask of any adult before they get sick of him, while steve is mostly concerned with telling nahele to brace himself because danny is at home and he's definitely making soup right now.
(but also. secret bonus:
There’s a thump that catches Steve by surprise enough that his ceiling watching is immediately broken off, but it’s just Danny hitting the bedspread with a flat hand like a very good point was just raised. “Exactly! Like Starsky and Hutch. Tango and Cash. Mulder and Scully.”)
-
beach (s&h)
not a single solitary beach for starsky & hutch. 😔 sorry guys, you deserve a nice beach vacation (or some additional dramatic synchronized badge-throwing, at least).
-
wolf (due south)
a very exciting pick! but now i'll tell you a truly terrible thing (worse than no beach vacations) and it's that there are ZERO (0) mentions of "wolf" in my due south document, and there is precisely ONE (1) dief/diefenbaker, and even then he's not actually present:
Ray looks at Fraser. Fraser looks back. Ray blinks and Fraser tilts his head a little, in a way he very well might have picked up from Dief.
it's deeply shameful, but it's also worth noting that the entire document has only just over 7k words, and that's including the two ds fics i've finished in my lifetime. this is a fandom where the canon just has such a specific vibe that i'm always worried i'm not hitting it right (because i don't even really think i did that in either of those two fics i did finish), which is made worse by how much i Like canon. canon is good and my friend and it's very easy to just rewatch it over and over instead of needing to write fic to spend more time in that world.

From: Family, Familia, ‘Ohana, Chapter 10: FUBAR, Danny’s POV
Fandom: 911, H50, SWAT
Pairings: Buddie, McDanno, platonic deacon/hondo
Fic summary:
When one family seems lost another comes back from the past. But does Buck want to return to the past or live in the present? And does his present lead to a future he wants? Only he can answer these questions but Steve at least will be there to support him.
Tags/warnings: kidnapped eddie, first draft, NavySeal!buck, alternative universe, timeline what timeline?, set vaguely season 3 911 and I’m not giving a time frame for H50 (because it wouldn’t make sense anyway). Written while sleep deprived.

Danny rubs his temples, fighting off a looming headache. He’s been staring at his own terrible cramped handwriting for hours. Steve’s fingers replace his, and he lets his eyes close with a groan as Steve rubs his neck and temples.
“You got another headache?” Steve’s voice is gentle and soft. He’s practically sitting on Danny’s desk as he hovers, but Danny doesn’t care. They’re alone in the office, and if Steve wants to touch him, Danny’s going to let him.
“Yeah.”
“I can get you some ibuprofen or Tylenol?”
“Took some with the Alka-Seltzer earlier.” Danny will pay for Steve to keep up the neck massage he’s giving. Steve’s fingers are digging into the knot that had been forming between Danny’s shoulders, and when it releases, he bites his tongue to stop from moaning.
“You didn’t eat.” There’s disapproval and worry in Steve’s tone.
“Wasn’t hungry.”
He wasn’t.
“This has been sitting out too long now. Do you want me to order something?”
“Let me rephrase. I am not hungry right now, nor was I.”
Steve chuckles, and his fingers find another knot, working into Danny’s left shoulder that he’d slept on last night on the sofa for a few hours. He’s ignoring Danny’s grumbling like usual.
“These headaches of yours worry me.”
Danny opens his eyes at this. Steve is close—closer than he’d thought. He’s wrapped himself around Danny, and they’re not touching other than where Steve’s hands are still rubbing his shoulders, but he can feel his body heat because Steve is that close.
Steve’s observing Danny, waiting for him to say something about the concern he’d voiced, and Danny is floundering with what to say. He stupidly lands on, “They’re just headaches.”
“You’ve been getting a lot of them.”
“I get them when I’m stressed.”
“You get them less when you sleep over.”
“That’s because I sleep better at your place,” slips out before he can take the words back.
“Why?”
It’s an innocuous question. Why? Why, indeed.
He has his theories. Danny had slept better when he was still married and sharing a bed with Rachel, and he could roll over and cuddle with her, listening to her breathe. He slept worse when alone because he hated being alone. It’d never been a problem until he and Rachel had started having problems, and she’d kicked him to the couch most nights, denying him coldly.
Danny was like a dog that needed a companion or otherwise would tear things apart out of anxiety—he needed another heartbeat to listen to in the night. Sleeping at Steve’s and knowing he was just upstairs or hearing his footsteps when he got up at night to do his patrols around the house that Steve swore he didn’t do but Danny had watched him do every night he’d slept over unless Steve was drugged or concussed… there was a rhythm to those nights. They usually watched a movie after dinner or a game and sat too close on the couch because Danny was too tactile, and Steve seemed to crave touch as much as Danny needed to give it.
Confessing this to Steve, however, was probably not in Danny’s best interest. Knowing Steve, he’d have Danny moved in by the end of the week, and Danny needed just a little bit of space for when Steve would inevitably find either another woman or Cath would finally wander back his way.
Danny didn’t need a front-row seat to Steve choosing a leggy brunette or blonde over him. He was already going to be too close, and it would hurt when it finally happened. If Steve is talking to Cath, then… she will probably come back at some point. Danny hadn’t known they’d still been talking after she left him in Afghanistan a year ago to go chasing after missing villagers and hadn’t wanted Steve’s help.

I have been thinking a lot about this, and I've come to the conclusion that it's surreal that the H50 fandom, and the McDanno community specifically, have so seldom used a very specific trope, compared to others.
I remember a discussion, on a Good Omens server whether The Best Trope™ to portray A/C was the "fucking just once at the very beginning, then stopping and silently pining one for another until the very end" option, the "mutually pining for the other from the very beginning but never acting on it because of course it cannot be mutual, and then having the mutual OH moment and finally fucking" option, or even the (probably most favorite) one which was either called "fucking while pining" or "pining while fucking", a sort of intensified Friends with Benefits trope.
So, about Danny and Steve, I've seen the almost totality being the second one, with some egregious FWB (alas too rare, because someone kept throwing in girlfriends at any corner, and both of them are too good to be cheaters), but I noticed an alarmingly scarcity of the first kind of trope. It might be my fault, but I only found, what? Two or three.
Which, to me, is….baffling? I mean, let's just do this mental exercise for a moment.
I know we all love to point out that for Steve, meeting Danny was love at first sight, later consolidated by love at first punch, because he saw in Danny something fascinating and alluring, someone who didn't bow and salute and yell "Sir, yes Sir" and obey to Steve's role with no questions asked. That had been Steve normalcy until the moment he stumbled upon Danny, either obeying or being obeyed, but never giving or being given a choice. He was so fascinated by Danny's attitude and his stubbornness to keep his case, that the only way he had to keep this new, shining toy, was to ditch the Navy, go into the Reserves, put aside all his plans to leave, and accept the Governor's offer.
Because he had found something that had made him change his mind.
And then we have years and years of longing gazes, yearning stares, constant touching and hugging and caressing and being in each other's personal space, showing an intimacy and a tenderness and a trust, and simply put, a perfect synchrony and a perfect telepathy since the first moment, like they were always meant to walk together. And that stubborn refusal to build a life with someone else, postponing the choice and diluting the feelings, until the relationship, every relationship, fizzles out and vanishes. Danny keeping this sort of stubborn shadow that he could go back to what he and Rachel had, rebuild a time when everything was new and good, revive the corpse of some long dead love instead of committing to someone new. Steve hanging on the threads left by an on/off friends with benefits thing that they both left to die, and being the only one who sees a future of, because mourning something you once had is easier than blaming yourself for not taking what you want. Always going back to the other, finding that comfort they seem unable to find in anyone else. That comfort they look unwilling to look for in anyone else.
Yet, we could imagine something different here. Because let's be honest: for how impulsive Steve can be, that choice in his father's garage was a huge change into his plans, and plans are his field of expertise. He gathers intel, he plans, he acts. Straight to the point. Isn't it a bit odd that this steel-minded man, suddenly, impulsively, sees this man he knows NOTHING about, decides "Yes, this is the one. I want this one. I'll do everything I can to keep him", and ditches all his carefully plotted plans, and his career too? For how interesting and endearing it can sound, it's still an odd behavior.
But what if that moment in the garage hadn't been the first time he had met him? What if their mutual rage and aggressiveness had another explanation, aside from stubbornness, impulsiveness and alpha-maleness? What if their anger was simply a cover for another feeling, one like….Shock? Fear? Guilt? Shame? Better to yell, scream, point a gun, and take some pissing contest, see who's boss.
Let's imagine. And see if it doesn't all make much more sense, this way.
It's the evening before their fatal meeting. Steve, after donning his dress blues to attend the service for burying his father, all authorities present, after paying his respects and taking care of what was left, before leaving to hunt Hesse, goes back to his temporary dwellings, dismisses his formal uniform, and sporting just his cargo pants and tee, goes to find some old joint to get thoroughly plastered, drinking at his father's memory. He gets inside, and proceeds with his plan, determined not to feel or remember a single thing about this day when he'll wake up the day after with the mother of all hangovers.
He purposely chooses some dubious, smoky, unnamed, not touristy alley, where it's obvious he can find only people with his same goal in mind, and no need to do small talk or mind someone else's business. He's halfway through his plan, remembering all things that could've gone better and all those that went spectacularly wrong, when he notices someone in a shadowy corner, not far from where he sits, sporting some of the sourest faces he's ever seen, one which makes him think this man, this haole who sticks like a sore thumb in a crowd of dark hairs and tan complexions, is having an even harder time than he is. Blondest hair Steve has ever seen, blond eyelashes fanning the bluest eyes, so blue they are shining even in the dark corner he sits in, blond stubble over his cheeks and around those rosy lips. Muscular shoulders and a chest to die for. Awakening something Steve thought long dead and buried. Wearing a goddamn tie over a tight shirt over dress pants. In Hawai'i.
Of course, since Steve is already half-shitfaced, he doesn't notice he's been staring. For a while. And of course the haole has noticed. He gets up, bringing his scotch and glass with him, and lands on the seat opposite to Steve. Staring back. Silently. Until he barks out, voice raspy maybe for too much scotch or maybe too much crying (his eyes, so blue, are red rimmed, Steve can clearly see it from this near), if he's something to tell him or if he intends to keep on staring like a creep. If he's seen something he likes. And smiles.
Steve's heart does a complicated and not entirely funny thing, one it hadn't done in a long time, a very, very long time, since when he joined the Navy and the SEALs. Probably even before, surely before, when he started attending Annapolis and those muddled, hazy, flustering thoughts could've compromised his entire future and left him adrift, even more than he already was, without a purpose and a goal. So it was easy to decide to cut that side of him, keep only the allowed one, and never act on it again. Think, maybe. Dream, sure. Wish, sometimes. But never act because he had too much to lose, and anyway, it wasn't like anyone had ever made a mystery of finding it extremely easy to ditch and abandon him. The Navy, though, it was a sure thing, definitely an exigent owner, but a sure thing that would've never abandoned him as long as he obeyed, behaved, and kept sacrificing himself.
Now he's not on duty, though. He's no one, at least for these few days. He's just John's son, mourning his father and reading himself for a revenge mission that could take his life in the process. He's drinking alone in a shady bar where no one can recognize him after so many years, and surely not when his first impression on these people had been one of a fully decked out Officer in high uniform. And with a beautiful, lonely, sad man who's maybe interested in the same thing he is: forgetting everything that's going on in his life right now, forgetting everything just for this night, feeling good, feeling empty. But feeling good is surely a nicer option than feeling empty. And the haole is definitely interested in feeling good and empty at least for today. No explanations needed, no niceties, no buying drinks, no asking about what brings him here. So they carefully test the water before diving in headfirst, and just a look is enough to understand they are on the same page.
Steve is more careful than ever that no one would recognize him when he leaves the bar, the blond man following him at a distance as they walk the few alleys and streets to Steve's place while he's in Hawai'i, heading in just a few minutes after Steve and going straight to the point, in the half-light coming from the open curtains. It's not sentimental. It's not sweet. It's not meant to be, and yet….Yet there's some kind of instantaneous and instinctive connection between them, to the point that while they agreed this was just a one night thing, and they didn't need to know the other's bruises and griefs, or the reasons for taking this leap, for needing this kind of anonymous comfort, they can't help but exchanging their names. Just that. And if you know someone's name, you hold them in your power, or whatever that shit was.
It's not romantic, but it almost is. And Steve is almost crying because of Danny's (the beautiful, golden stranger's name) protectiveness and gentleness with him, like he's sensing or understanding by experience alone that Steve might scowl and purse his lips all he wants, but he's way more inexperienced at this than he liked to think he was. Danny has strong hands, but they are so soft and careful, like he's accustomed to handling frail, little, tiny things, like people's hearts or children's hands. Steve, for the first time since when he was a little kid on his mother's knees, feels cared for. Loved, almost. And it makes him sick, because being loved and cared for is not something he's allowed to.
But this isn't love. This is a one night stand, and he's a Navy SEAL, and DADT is still in full force, and tomorrow he'll leave for his quest, and he'll never see this kind, caring, attentive man who's offered him at least one night of comfort like he's never felt even with Catherine (it had never been about the comfort with her, it was about taking a breath before diving again, and it was his role to be up to the task, always), giving without asking, offering without expecting. He had said he was looking for relief, but in reality he had offered it. This man who now is gathering his clothes, dressing back and heading for the door, a brittle smile on those gorgeous lips while he turns and looks at Steve for the last time before disappearing. This man whom Steve will never meet again, taking with him this memory of how people, even complete strangers, could be a beacon of life in the darkness that had swallowed him too long ago to remember a time where light existed. This man who clearly carried a heavy burden of his own, an unspoken pain, and whose eyes were so bright and yet so sad.
Steve drifts to sleep too, wondering how much time will pass until he'll forget the beautiful stranger's face, and how much until the stranger does the same.
Funny how the answer to that question, just the following morning, would suddenly come to him while raising his gun and yelling at an uncomfortably familiar face, a face equally frozen when taking in his own face.
Of course, being partners, and being Steve technically Danny's boss (even if Danny has opinions, very loud opinions, on this matter), and being Steve still in the Navy, means that they look at each other over a beer that same evening, and with just one look agree that it must stay exactly as they had agreed: a one night stand among two strangers trying to run away from their nightmares for just some hours. And that's it. Or so they believe.
Turns out that when you know exactly how your partner and best friend looks like in the dim light of a bedroom, what he sounds like, what he tastes like, and how he is when he's at his most vulnerable….it's very difficult not to remember it constantly, and to fight back the yearning and the longing. Especially if you've been such an idiot to fall in love with a stranger you met in a bar. But they had agreed and shaken hands, and that had to be it. Living the rest of their lives, both of them, wanting to have just that one thing they thought the other considered the worst mistake of his life, not imagining he wanted it back so badly, so desperately, that everyone else coming in their lives could never stay enough before the ghost of that night hunted them out of Steve's or Danny's bed, and heart.
Funny how the answer to that question turned out to be Eternity.

mcdanno - a study in touch (with a little help from quora)
Steve isn't a particularly touchy-feely person before he meets Danny and even after him initiating physical contact is usually very precise and deliberate. He ushers Danny the way one does with a date. A wooing and guiding gesture.
When it comes to Danny, Steve is all of those things: protective, possessive, reassuring. He lets Danny know he's got his back and he really means it, as evidenced by above caps from 7x17 when Danny was babbling and embarrassed but couldn't stop himself so Steve stepped in and interrupted him fondly. Having his back doesn't just mean in a life or death situation, it's all the little things too. Based on body language alone it's obvious Steve has feelings for Danny and isn't shy about showing them.

Touch of death (h50 2x21 & NCIS LA 3x21 crossover episodes) and... Three times when Danny Williams felt like a suspect 😉
I. Steve is in Japan, Danny is in Steve's house, Chin comes and...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Don't look at Danny like that, Chin. And please, don't be too curious. Leave it, man. You just have to believe that he has a... a... um... a key. Cause he was crashing there, you know. And don't even try to ask what Danny means by "crashing" (there with Steve).
Danny: *Phew! He changed the topic, good. My alibi is strong*
Chin: *chuckling mentally*
II. Danny is calling Sam Hanna, he needs his help so he says "I'm detective Danny Williams from Five-0 blah blah blah" and then...
Tumblr media
A friend of mine. A colleague. A Seal/cop guy who works with me in the same team. Non-stranger. Fellow human being... You know, um, McGarrett...
aka: What to call Steve so Sam won't think that Danny is head over heels in love with Steve.
Danny: *Phew! Good that I added "a colleague" word*
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sam: *trying not to laugh maniacally* *oh yeah, detective Williams, I know McGarrett but I didn't know that he's got a boyfriend* *winking mentally*
III. The Five-O/NCIS case is solved. Danny, Chin and NCIS team are at NCIS' HQ. They're joking and talking, they need some beer and shower blah blah blah. And then there's... this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
No, uh... You know, we left Kono there. She's alone. She can't fight with all Hawaiian crime alone, right? And Monkey misses me and um...
Danny: *Phew! My alibis are the best*
NCIS team: *Geez, it must be a Very Hot Date* *chuckling mentally*
Chin, also mentally: *Hot date? Not yet! But he desperately needs to be in Hawaii as soon as possible. Cause, you know guys, his future(?) boyfriend Steve McGarrett is in Japan and Danny needs to be in Hawaii to wait for him! And you know, there is a lady, Catherine, she, huh, she's often around Danny's boyfriend when Danny isn't there so you know... DANNY REALLY NEEDS TO COME BACK*

In one of my unpublished wips I work on here and there is Danny and Steve giving into their carnal desires very early on. And when Steve leaves part of Danny’s grief process is to get a Prince Albert. One) he needed a post break up thing to do that helps you feel like you’ve reclaimed yourself. Two) they never really defined what they were and he hopes Steve comes back but it’s also an insurance to keep him from jumping the gun and fuck someone else just to be petty. So he gets it, bonds with the piercer/tattoo artist, touches up his ass tattoo and designs another again for a distraction.
It’s incomplete, things get added to it randomly, I’m trying not to post anything new unless it’s complete, so my mind if full of h50/McDanno stuffI want to share and though I felt lonely u also feel insecure to send this to anyone in particular so posting it for all to see.
Goodnight!

WIP WEDNESDAY
Decided to do this since i actually have some writing to share this week.
I couldn’t decide, so ur getting like. three different wips all from different fandoms, have fun enjoy, etc. Putting it under a readmore but the fandoms are h50, yu yu hakusho, and jedi survivor!
Also, not tagging anyone since I don’t know who has done this already. But! You should consider yourself tagged if you want to do it.
First one: h50 wip currently unnamed coda to the first couple eps of the first season. it has been AN AGE since i last wrote h50 so y’know. be nice.
McGarret was clearly insane, but Danny would be lying if he said he wasn’t enjoying himself a little. Propped back on the bench in the boat, listening to Joey yell from the shark cage, a beer in his hand; there were worse ways to spend his day. He hadn’t got shot yet. His phone wasn’t ringing. He glanced over at McGarret just as Joey screeched, high-pitched and terrified, and couldn’t quite stop the snort of laughter.
Second one: jedi survivor. merrical. also unnamed until i finish it.
Merrin kept her hand over his, thumb brushing gentle circles into his skin. His face had smoothed out at the touch, though she was not naïve enough to think the nightmares chased completely away. Still, she took the time to look at him, so much older now than they had been that day on Dathomir, but here in sleep he seemed almost as young as he had then.
She wonders, idly, what he had looked like before the horrors of the Empire had torn through his heart.
Sleep does not come for her, though she had not expected it to. Not out here, in the cold desert, where the imperials roamed freely. She had lost too much to the Empire already to risk losing more to carelessness.
Third one: yu yu hakusho. yusuke/kurama.
“Goddamn assassins,” he mutters to himself as he staggers down the road, trying and failing to shove through whatever seal they’d put on him. It tasted like a swamp in the back of his throat. He could feel his hair. He didn’t know how Kurama managed to do this all the time. Maybe foxes were just weird.
“Wait.” Swamp. Plants. Foxes. “K’rama.” If he trusted anyone to see him like this, it was the fox. The idea didn’t immediately set his hackles off, so he stumbled into the nearest wall and dug around in his pocket with a bloody hand until he found his phone. Newly thankful for speed dial, he hit 2 and waited.
“Yuusuke? Is everything alright?” Right. It was. He didn’t know. Late.
“Hey K’rama,” he managed, grimacing. “Uh, not to y’know, fuck your night up or anything, but I’m kinda bleeding a lot. Mouth tastes like swampy ass; I dunno what they hit me with man, but I’m weaker than Kuwabara’s cat right now.”
“What happened? No, more importantly, where are you?” Kurama’s voice had gone soft and sharp the way it did when he was worried. Ugh.
“Uh,” he glanced around, trying to focus. “A coupl’a streets down from the stand? Pretty sure the three Musketeers’ll be after me again when they wake up.” Assassins were annoying that way.

Seven Sentence Sunday
Tagged by the ever lovely @monsterrae1.  Tagging whoever wants to play along. I really should get a mcdanno banner but instead i’m using the lovely @radio-chatter‘s mreyder ones. Mostly i’ve been stuck on finishing the halloween Buddie fic but had a few thoughts on this today.
Tumblr media
Title: Mana’olana, uncertain chapter
Fandom: H50
pairing: McDanno, canon pairings mentioned up to end of season 5
Other tags/warnings: season 5 finale fix-it. Not Rachel friendly.
Having to keep his hands to himself was torture the entire drive home, the stitched leather of the steering wheel pressing into his skin as a reminder to not move his hands from their positions at ten and two o’clock respectively.  Grace was out like a light in the backseat, dwarfed by Danny’s suit jacket that was getting rumpled.  Danny had the window down, shirtsleeves pushed up to show enough skin that made Steve want to swallow his tongue.
He’d never found wrists so scandalous before but he wanted to wrap his fingers around Danny’s and pin him in place so he could do unspeakable things to him but he wouldn’t because Grace was in the back seat.
Danny said nothing when he took the turn towards his own house instead of towards Danny’s condo. He’d just reached over and placed his hand on Steve’s knee, the touch burning hot despite the layer of cloth between their skin.  Each little squeeze of Danny’s fingers as they stroked the inner thigh just above the knee seemed directly wired to Steve’s groin, his cock twitching within it’s confines.
