“tired?” you asked quietly, not wanting to disturb the fluff ball that was currently occupying your chest. 

wonwoo weakly nodded his head, his slightly curly hair tickling your neck, as he wrapped one of his arms that was around your waist a bit tighter. the second your boyfriend entered the bedroom in his and mingyu’s apartment, you knew he’d be slightly clingier than usual - wonwoo was always a tad needier when sleepy and tired, something you could never get enough of. 

“want to go to sleep?” you murmured, running your fingers through the hair at the nape of his neck. you could practically feel him melt into your embrace. 

“you can stay up if you want to,” wonwoo said, his voice no louder than a whisper. with a quiet grunt he propped himself on his arm, taking away his body warmth making you shiver, despite wearing one of his fluffy sweatshirts. 

“come here,” you cupped his cheeks, stopping him from getting out of bed. you ran your thumbs over his soft cheeks, smiling at his sleepy expression. he looked like he was about to fall asleep sitting up. “your glasses, baby,” you giggled and pulled his new frames off his nose, setting them on your nightstand. “now we can sleep,” you smiled and leaned in to kiss his nose.

wonwoo returned your kiss with a shy smile, pecking you on the lips, and after saying a quiet "i love you", he took off his shirt and made himself comfortable on the pillows. "c'mere," he spread his arms so that you could lie on top of him for a change. placing your head in your favorite place - right above his heart, you felt your eyelids begin to droop.

“i love your long hair, you know,” you yawned. "we have to get rid of all the scissors."

"mhm, we have to."

the last thing you felt before you fell asleep was wonwoo's hand taking yours and placing it on his chest and a soft "sleep well, baby," whispered into your ear.

it’s the middle of the night, and you are clinging to seungcheol like a lifeline.

there’s no particular reason. you can’t sleep, he’s not even trying to sleep, and he’s comfortable. so you wrap your arms around him like a koala, amused when he doesn’t even flinch, just lifts his arms a little to give you space, and continues scrolling.

“i’m going to suffocate you if i stay like this,” you say suddenly — slightly muffled with your cheek squished against the pillow.

seungcheol lowers his phone to glance at you, brown eyes soft in the dim lamplight of your room. “it’d be an honour to be suffocated by you,” he says, so solemnly you burst out laughing.

“cheol!”

“what?” he says defensively. “i’m serious! put that shit on my gravestone.”

“you are so — ”

“handsome?” he offers. “charming? perfect?” and he places an exaggeratedly grateful hand over his chest; “babe.”

“annoying,” you finish, with a sigh that doesn’t disguise your smile. being completely and irrevocably in love has made you soft. maddeningly so.

“and yet you’re still dating me,” seungcheol counters with a bright grin and a kiss on your cheek. “so i win.”

“cheesy. so cheesy.” but you don’t detangle your limbs from his; you push yourself impossibly closer, nosing into his neck, leg over his thighs. and he doesn’t move away — he just smiles, brushes you with a feathery kiss.

it’s easy. familiar. it happens all the time, hugging your boyfriend. but it’s insistent in its own mundanity — you think you can stay with him forever and then some. and if you said it out loud, you know he’d echo the sentiment right back to you.

the beauty of it is more settled in the fact that you don’t have to say it out loud. both of you know. instead, you’ll complain about his cheesy lines and he’ll complain about your cold nose against his skin, and you’ll love each other always. enduring, withstanding, everlasting.

see, here's the thing. he has a pretty broad and warm and sturdy back, and he's just so comfortable and always right there so of course you're gonna bury your face between his shoulder blades and never pay attention to the rest of the world ever again. you always collapse into his back after a particularly tiring day, while he's making dinner for the both of you and you want nothing more than to just bury yourself into his warmth and never leave. he's used to having you clinging to his back like a particularly stubborn limpet, and while he makes a small exclamation of surprise when you come out of nowhere to hug him, eventually he just smiles and lets you cling to him for however long u need

when you suddenly come up behind him and clamp an iron grip around his middle, he just pulls your arms more firmly around him, pats your hands and carries on with his day. you're holding him so tightly it's like you're afraid he's gonna disappear, and it's hard to move around bc you're plastered to his back and squeezing him kinda tight, but he does his best. that is, until he almost trips over your feet bc you're standing so close to him. he kinda feels like he's caught up in a trap, and tells you as such, every single time. “you're holding me hostage now, huh?” “i'm not holding you hostage.” “then are you gonna let me go?” “no.” but you're cute, so whatever. he'll happily be held hostage by you for however long it takes for you to decide he can finally be released.

the moment he feels you burying your face into his back, hands around his middle, he's smiling and tilting his head back in response to your presence, murmuring a soft “hello, you” as you mumble unintelligible words into his shirt. he's so fond, practically melting in your hold, and he lets you stay plastered to his back for however long it takes you to wake up from your latest drowsy state that had you craving back hugs from him. because you backhugging him is saved for sleepy moments, for times when you're not quite awake and cling to him like a koala until you've fully woken up. it's adorable—you're adorable—so after a few minutes he's turning around and wrapping his arms around your shoulders and kissing ur cheek sweetly and asking if his lovely, lovely darling had a good sleep? <3

yelps in surprise every time when you come up behind him and wrap around his back, before he realises that it's you and immediately relaxes. it's kinda comforting, feeling you and your warmth against him, but he gets kinda wriggly after a few minutes, wanting to see your face, so back hugs always end up turning into proper bear hugs where he wraps his arms around you and can look you in the eye properly before covering your entire face in kisses. he likes eye contact, likes seeing the love of his life right before him, and while backhugging is cute as hell do you know what’s even cuter? the little nose scrunch thingy he does when he gives you fluttery soft butterfly kisses over your eyelids.

wonwoo knows more than anyone that you’re not a morning person; but when he stirs around seven in the morning, your side of the bed is unmistakably empty.

he waits a few moments — maybe you’re just using the bathroom, maybe you’re just getting some water — but when you don’t return, he makes the executive decision to roll out of bed. with only one mission: to make you come back to it.

because goddamn, it’s cold out in the living room. so when he realises the balcony doors are open, he shouldn’t exactly be surprised to see your figure leaning against the rails. and, for the most part, he’s not — the balcony has always been your favourite perch in the apartment, no matter the weather.

speaking of weather, though, as wonwoo comes up behind you, he realises it’s snowing. it’s clearly a recent development, given that the outside hasn’t yet been blanketed in white; it looks more like icing sugar scattered over frosted grass and grey concrete.

“it’s snowing,” you say needlessly, as he slips his arms around you from behind. he notices seol too, curled up by your feet, and briefly wonders why you’re always the favourite. that dog will follow you anywhere.

“it’s freezing,” he corrects at last, muffled into the skin of your neck. “come back to bed.”

you lean back against him, and he doesn’t see your smile, but he can hear it in his voice. “in a minute,” you reassure. “it’s the first snow of the season.”

“and you didn’t wake me so we could watch it together,” he adds, faux offence lying under his words. he doesn’t really mind. no superstition will dictate his future: he’ll spend the rest of his life loving you, and only you, first snow be damned.

“i watched it with seollie,” you say unapologetically. “we didn’t have space for you.”

“i’ve been betrayed,” he returns, as monotonously as possible — there’s a moment of quiet, shared laughter, and then he’s nosing back into your shoulder, kissing you through your sweater and mumbling again. “i think i’m going to freeze.”

“alright,” you concede finally, kissing him sweetly, icy noses bumping, and picking up seollie. “let’s go back to bed.”

(wonwoo thinks, as you try to warm your frigid feet against his under the duvet while he vehemently protests, that he lives for moments like these. quiet and simple, the two of you — or three, counting seol — in a world of your own.)

natalia’s note: very much self indulgent, i came home with a fever all of a sudden like a week ago, and ever since im in desperate need of choi seungcheol

“i’m not dying, you know?” 

“i know,” cheol huffed, and threw what had to be the tenth blanket over you. 

“then why are you acting like i’m about to pass away?” you laughed, seeing your boyfriend’s focused expression. according to his logic, if the blankets weren’t all sprawled out properly, you’d freeze to death, and his furrowed dark eyebrows alongside the crease between them showed how serious he was about it. 

you could hear him mutter something under his breath. he was always like that when you were sick - too worried, and too overprotective. that’s why sometimes you didn’t even bother telling him you were ill, especially with his busy schedules - you didn’t want to burden him even more (he’d probably strangle you if he heard you calling yourself a burden). 

to be honest, you didn’t even have to be sick - the second cheol would notice you acting differently than usual he’d be all over you asking what’s wrong. but while usually you were very grateful for his caring nature, now was not the time. “i’m sorry for being worried about my girlfriend coming home with a fever,” he said, looking offended. 

“cheol, baby. it’s just a fever,” you quickly grabbed the pills from his hand to get his attention back on you. “i’m sure it’s not even a proper fever, i’m just feeling a bit under the weather, that’s all. there is no need for you to be worried.” 

your “illness” was nothing that a long session of cuddles with him and kkuma couldn’t solve, but it seemed like your boyfriend didn’t share your optimism. “fine, do whatever you want,” he grumbled, his pout on full display, and left the room, leaving you too stunned to speak. 

with a loud sigh, you fell back against the stack of pillows cheol fluffed up before forcing you to lay down. of course you didn’t mean to make him think you didn't want his help, you loved how big of a caregiver he was (especially when it came to you), it’s just that unlike him - for you, being sick wasn't the end of the world, and you didn't need him to babysit you. 

not wanting to argue, you stood up from the bed with a soft groan, throwing off all the blankets cheol covered you with. you knew it wouldn't be hard to appease him, he wasn't really angry, more disappointed that you were rejecting his help.

you entered the kitchen and immediately saw him cutting up some food, probably preparing dinner. “cheollie,” you said quietly, hoping he would look at you. unfortunately, he stubbornly continued to cut the vegetables. "baby, please, i didn't mean to upset you." you walked around the kitchen island and hugged him from the side, burying your head in his neck.

you saw his pout out of the corner of your eye, so your suspicions that he wasn't actually angry were correct. “i was just worried about you," he finally said after a while, and put the knife down. "there's nothing fun about seeing your girlfriend come home all burning up with fever."

“i know love, i know,” you mumbled, and kissed his bicep, running your hand gently over his tummy. “i really appreciate everything you do, but i’d rather cuddle with you and kkuma. we could watch something, and you’d get to hold me, hm?” you smiled, seeing the corners of his mouth turning up a little. if there was one thing cheol could never decline, it’d be a cuddle session with his girls. 

“you’ll take the medicine, though,” he said sternly, kissing your hot forehead. “now get your ass back to bed, i’ll be right back” he added.
