you walked to ei and took her hands in yours, "i wanted to spend all day with you but you were busy. so instead, i planned this whole thing so we could at least spend a few hours to celebrate it together finally. you deserve a break and especially on your birthday."

ei moved one of her hands from your hold and cupped your cheek. she had a loving smile on her face, a happy look. one that was rare from her and basically unheard of from the shogun. it was always a treat to see, just as much as it was a treat to see ei all of the time. free from the torment, free from the blank look wishing for eternity, free from it all.

"there is no reason to thank me, ei. this was your birthday gift after all. and this is just a small celebration to you."

ei let out a hum as she leaned in to kiss you. it was short and gave a feathery feeling. a feeling of well, like the anemo archon, freedom. the archon leaned away and turned herself to face the table of dango and dango milk.

it looked… very tasty.

227 did happen and it is painful but I want to ease the belief that nothing good happened last year and it was all attacks and anti bs. If that’s all you saw last year, you were not in the right spaces online.

I shared alot of this moments with people here on Tumblr. This is how I will always remember Xiao Zhan, someone as bright as the Sun.

Birthday in Family

A/N: So!! Yesterday was Lavinia Wakefield’s bday (who belongs to @gaygryffindorgal ) so here’s a little something for her!!

29th of April, 19XX

Some years ago, Cecilia Balinor had given up many luxurious habits in order to secretly marry the woman of her dreams: Lavinia Frances Wakefield. Many of her friends were surprised by the decision: she was verbose, passionate, quite awkward and bubbly Hufflepuff. But, nevertheless, they were happy that Cecilia had chosen to spend the rest of her life with someone who loved her instead of a stranger who would only make her miserable.

Her favourite part, though, was when Viscountess Yaxley presented them with a baby that was looking for a loving family. Most of her tennants had big families or were too old for an energetic baby, and that delighted the lovers. Both wanted a family, and the both accepted this small bundle of joy.

Her small curls were golden, and had a cheery and adorable personality, which enamoured both women. When they discussed names, they settled on Marigold, Goldie for short.

Now Goldie was a feisty and quite talktative five-year old. She was the perfect mix of them both. Cecilia hummed as she turned around to cuddle her wife, and kissed her cheek “Happy birthday, beautiful.” She whispered.

Vinnie smiled widely “Thank you darling.”

Cecilia stroked her very long hair as she asked “What does the birthday girl wish to do on her birthday?”

Vinnie opened her eyes and so did Cecilia “Being with our girl and baking pie as we explore Winbournshire and just enjoy this odd sunny day.”

They were about to kiss when the door slammed open, revealing their feisty five-year-old daughter jumping on the bed, urging their mothers to wake up. Vinnie laughed and embraced her daughter on a bear hug, kissing her cheek soundly “Good morning, my baby! Do you know what day is it?”

She pointed at her “Mummy’s birthdae!”

Vinnie beamed and covered her in kisses. Cecilia observed wistfully, a small smile on her face. She then took her daughter’s hand “How about if we go prepare for breakfast with Mummy?”

She nodded, running to her small nursery. Soon, she’d be old enough to have her own bed.

After having breakfast, Lavinia read Goldie yet again Jane Eyre, and Goldie observed her mother as Cecilia, now skilfully, baked an apple pie, which was her specialty. She no longer dressed silk, but she did not mind. She had learned many farm tricks from her wife and kind neighbours and both produced stock for the Viscountess.

“Will you give me the book when I’m older, Mummy?”

Vinnie smiled, kissing her head “It shall be the first thing I do!”

“Yaaay!” She hugged her and she smiled. What an inebriating joy gave her this very image. Years ago, she never imagined having this, but now, it was real, and no one would take that from her.

When the pie was done and Goldie helped decorate, they all ate it as Vinnie prepared Goldie’s dress. Cecilia was now alone with her daughter, and she leaned to whisper “Do you think it is time to give Mummy the surprise?”

“Cayke first!”

She mussled her hair “Very well.”

Vinnie called for Goldie to dress and she happily went there. Goldie loved both her mothers, but it was no secret that Vinnie was her favourite. At least for now. They were very alike, and spent much time together, for Cecilia was often on her Hit Witch job. She still bonded with her daughter over sewing pretty dresses and taught her many things, such as singing, violin and being presentable.

When she was dressed with her favourite dress she and Goldie had sewn--mostly Cecilia, though-- they all went to Winbournshire, where many children played tag and many vendors decided to make today’s wonderful day business. Goldie dragged Vinnie to one shop -as they had plotted weeks ago- and Cecilia went to her hiding present spot, where she got the carefully wrapped present. She had been saving for years something that during her youth could’ve had in a matter of weeks. She was happy nevertheless and felt accomplished.

She waited for them in a bench away from prying eyes and observed. Even the Viscountess’ family had joined. Primrose noticed Cecilia and waved hello. She had her small baby bump and two of her children had joined tag. Her husband snaked an arm around her and kissed her. She sighed. How she wished she could show affection to Vinnie that way. She envied her, really. She always had, the moment she met the young lady all those years ago.

Vinnie and Goldie finally came and she hugged Cecilia’s legs “The present, Mama! Give her the pwesent!”

“I’m going to!” She smiled as she placed Goldie on her lap. Vinnie looked in disbelief to her wife.

“You didn’t have to, Cecy! Being with you and Goldie is gift enough!”

Cecilia smiled “I know. But I chose to. Now sit here and accept it.”

She sat now, impatient and anticipating it. She passed her rather large gift and Vinnie teared it open and gasped loudly at the sight: it was a moving portrait of her, Cecilia and Goldie on her lap, Vinnie reading Jane Eyre to them! Behind the portrait it read ‘To my dearest beloved. Thank you for all these years together. Despite some hardships, I have never, ever been happier and every day with you is a gift. With all my love, Cecilia.’

Vinnie teared up “Oh, Cecy! How much did this cost you?!”

“Now, it is rude to mention the price!”

She chuckled before hugging her tightly, both of them smiling. Cecilia signalled her daughter to go play with her friends “That is not all, though.”

“What else have you plotted, Cecilia Balinor?”

“My father is dead, and my sister’s husband has been kind enough to give me back my dowry and place in the family, alonsgide a small cottage in Bath for all the troubles my father put is through.”

She passed her the check and Vinnie’s eyes went wide like two plates and stammered “I...This... I knew your dowry was generous, but this is more than enough to maintain us for life!”

They both chuckled and hugged each other “Now I will finally get rid of that horrendous hole in our room.”

They both laughed as Cecilia laid her head on her wife’s shoulder as they observed their daughter play with the still young Lord Yaxley. Their pinkies brushed as they savoured this new era in their lives.
