Alright, since the subject is on my brain while it's early as fuck in the morning, and I don't think ranting to myself will get it out.

Here we go:

My unneeded opinion on Selfcest!

!!!! If you DO NOT like Selfcest then that is OKAY everyone has opinions and mine WILL NOT be in your favor !!!!

Let's get this out of the way. Do I like selfcest? Technically, I do. I like Sanscest like a lot, that's technically selfcest and if you don't think so then you're probably going to fall agreement to what I'm about to say.

People say selfcest is gross or bad because it shows narcissism, what's more narcissistic then literally dating yourself, right?

Now, personally, I don't care about this point because of my sorta conflict with selfcest. It's still valid to think this but I just don't really see much narcissism unless it's spelled out to stem from narcissism.

I've had this thought for a while, mainly from dealing with Sans AUs in the UTAU community.

But, how different does your alternate self have to be until they are their own person just with your face?

I'll be using Sans AUs and Thiu(s) from Better Half as the main examples of this as they fit cleanly with both situations of alternate selves.

But, that is the question. If you have an alternate version of yourself that acts not that much like you, how far do they have to be from your personality to not be counted as YOU?

The Sans AUs display this well. If you look at Classic Sans and Outer Sans side by side, it's just Sans again but with a space theme. Then you take Swap and Fell, place them next to Classic, and now there is a personality change. Now, let's skip ahead and compare Classic to Dream and Nightmare. No wait, you can't do that since technically The Apple Twins are their own people just with Sans' body, specifically Swap's. Uh huh, then what about Cross? He acts so far off the scale from Classic, only having his body in common, but he is a for sure Sans.

I think you're seeing where I'm going with this. How far do the differences have to be until it's not really Sans anymore? Because honestly, you could count Cross as his own person due to how different he is. They may not be different physically but personality wise I don't see anything similar.

Could some like Fell or Swap be their own people then? They may have aspects of Sans but their personalities are pretty different.

And, what if, they have time out of their own stories and grow in different ways, how less or more are they to Sans then? Some parts of the UTAU and Better Half kinda explore this. Some people have multiverses that change up routine and leave room for independent growth, myself included.

Better Half also touches on this a bit. Happy Thiu and Depressed Thiu aren't AUs, just technically clones or split versions, however even then they start off decently different enough for you to know who's who. And no, I'm not going to be getting into the morality of Thiu, that's not the point, that's a whole other thing, Thiu can be an asshole, yeah, doesn't matter right now. But, the Thius slowly start going through their own situations, making their own friendships, connections, and opinions. Lua, from the game, confirmed that nothing is stopping them from feeling their own things, gaining their own experiences. Happy Thiu also touches on this by saying they could end up completely different people within years. So, how far do the two have to go until they're not each other anymore?

Ultimately, that's for one and oneself to decide.

Now, say, I date a carbon copy of myself, then yeah, that's.. That can't be argued to be anything more and if it's a carbon copy then there's no argue that it stems from narcissism.

Narcissism can a factor of selfcest, I'm not saying it's not, I'm not saying that all selfcest needs to be in good light either. I'm just saying, how different does one's other self have to be until you have to really question if it's a matter of narcissism or even selfcest at all?

These are my opinions, mine alone, I have to genuinely question how selfcest could be comparable to something like incest, yes selfcest can hold narcissism or it could be viewed as lame or weird to date yourself but I wouldn't say it's... Gross or bad per say, under the right circumstances of course.

Again, if it's just a carbon copy, then yeah that's fucking weird buddy.
