New Hellcheergroveton Au ~~ Short Chapter Fic Coming Soon!
Premise: In a Post-Vecna world, Billy recently started using a cane to help with his developing mobility issues, while Steve, his boyfriend with partial vision loss, chronic migraines, and a TBI that affects his speech, has thought of a plan to help Billy feel more comfortable using it. That plan happens to involve Chrissy, who is blind, and Eddie, who is hard of hearing and uses mobility aids as well (a decked out, fully customized rollator or a wheelchair of the same punkness usually) to manage his fibromyalgia. Secretly they’re all definitely crushing on each other.
Small Preview of Chapter 1 below the cut:
His solution comes in the form of one Chrissy Cunningham.
Ever since she barely survived Vecna crumpling her like a paper ball, her vision never came back. They pinned together her bones and wired her jaw until it healed, but they can’t exactly get her new eyes that aren’t bloodshot and clouded milky-white. So she walks with a cane. It has a little round circle on the end to roll and feel more accurately where she’s going. She likes it better than the hard-ended tapping cane they gave her first.
And that’s a whole revelation.
A cane. Billy can use a cane.
He asks Eddie to arrange a ride for him, and the next day they’re at the pharmacy (thanks to Wayne. Billy loves that guy) buying him an adjustable, pretty cheap cane. There’s a choice between a harsh, eye-burning blue color that reminds him just a little too much of his old junked car, or a plain black one. It’s a pretty easy choice.
He’s just a little bummed that the one he gets is so… boring.
Billy’s second revelation comes in the form of Eddie Munson.
Why it didn’t come to him sooner, he isn’t sure. Eddie was literally there with him the day he got the damn cane. In his wheelchair. Totally decked out in patches and spikes and stickers.
Customized mobility aids. Billy didn’t even know that was a thing!
Well, obviously he did, but he didn’t think that was an option for him. Eddie Munson is so much cooler than him. They both went through hell, but only one of them had come out the other side passionately fighting against the systems that would make it impossible to pay for their meds and their aids were it not for the liability payouts they were owed by the assholes who made the monsters that tried to kill them. Billy admires the social reform shit Eddie gets up to in his free time, when the spoon drawer isn’t empty.
He calls it Cripple Punk. It’s a whole thing. Billy doesn’t like that word so much, but he likes Eddie a lot, and he likes what he stands for too. And honestly, he kinda likes the idea of having spikes on his cane like Eddie has on the back of his chair.
Just the idea makes Billy feel badass too and not so much like somebody’s old granny.

Announcement! Upcoming Event!
Hello Harringrove fandom!!
July is disability pride month, and since Billy and Steve are both canonically disabled characters (Billy has bpd, and Steve has tbi), my amazing friend and I have decided to create a week long event celebrating them! It will run sometime in July, with the date still being decided (we will keep you updated!)
This event will be run by @hargrove-mayfields and @intothedysphoria, EJ and Max respectively, who are both disabled creators in the fandom! Our experiences as such have inspired us to host this event dedicated entirely to raising awareness and support for Steve and Billy’s disabilities!
Any content will be allowed, from art, to edits, to playlists, to fic of any length! There are no limitations except it is preferred that there is no extreme or proship content. 18+ creations will be allowed as long as everything is tagged properly, and the interactions are safe and consensual!
The main rule: The fic must feature Billy and/or Steve. Other ships are allowed. That means this isn’t just a Harringrove event, just a celebration of Billy and Steve in general!
Also, either Billy or Steve must be explicitly disabled regardless of who they are shipped with. This can be any disability, canon or headcanon. A modern definition of disability is any state of being that causes an individual to face social barriers. Including but not limited to: sensorial impairments, learning delays, chronic conditions, certain mental health disorders, and physical differences.
Prompts will be provided soon once interest is gathered so creators can begin working! No sign ups required!
Additionally, depending on the number responses we get here, we might create a discord server for members of the event!

Steve first fully registered his feelings for Chrissy Cunningham after the apocalypse started.
Well, the term apocalypse was debated heavily on national news stations but Steve sure felt like it had come when the Upside Down began leaking into their world. Into Steve’s life.
He’d always had a vague awareness of something distinctly different about him. The way he’d just draw others to him, make people agree. Occasionally he’d look at his eyes too hard in the mirror and see silver flecks shining back. Seven shrinks couldn’t fix his “problem” of dunking his head under the bath water or the pool for hours on end, delighted that he could breathe and swim like a fish.
Then after Vecna, after everyone died and Steve saw Hawkins as the rotten graveyard that it truly was, there came a day where he was no longer able to walk.
It was the worst agony he’d ever been in. Every step he took made him feel like he was about to keel over, his skin was almost scaling over and he was constantly short of breath. At first Steve had thought it to be a curse from God before deciding that not even God would be that cruel.
Running out of options, Steve fled back to the only place that felt like a sanctuary. The pool. His greatest source of shame would be his salvation now.
The good thing was that the moment he slid under the water, he could breath again. His legs fused together into a tail and Steve had no doubt that if pools had mirrors in them, he’d be staring at eyes of the purest silver.
The less good thing was Barb Holland was staring at him. Glaring. Very much still alive.
After he swim her out and sent her on her way, the puzzle pieces of whatever was happening across North America started to fall into place. Whatever force was out there, leaking the upside down into the real world, killing the birds and the fish and the less prepared of Hawkins, was also bringing back those who had been killed by the upside down.
Because Barb Holland hadn’t quite been human when they made amends. She’d been something different. Something powerful. Something hungry.
That got Steve thinking about Chrissy. Sweet Chrissy with her light giggle and her cartwheels and the way she’d always call him Stevie whenever they met at parties. What had obviously been a crush in retrospect, now fell on Steve like a tonne of bricks. Shit, she couldn’t see him like this. Well, if she ever bothered to stop by at all. Somehow, that thought made him feel even worse.
It had been months since he’d had that thought and Steve felt like he was having a midlife crisis. From what human clothes he could wear, he looked like a damn trucker, he’d eat any small see monsters that slipped through the vents in his pool and he was just fucking lonely.
Of course, when he was at his lowest, that was when she came.
She looked older. More mature. Her hands were shooting beams of light at a demogorgon that seemed to be chasing her and of course she’d run into Steve’s back garden completely by mistake.
But then she saw him. Rotting away at the bottom of his pool. Cocked her head as if she couldn’t quite believe what she was looking at.
“Shit, Steve??????”
She took him out of the pool. Cast a spell on him so that he’d hold up long enough until he made it to her camp. She was living with Billy Hargrove and Eddie Munson.
Steves world briefly ground to a halt as he imagined sharing living quarters with all three of his crushes when he was a damn fish.
Hargrove and Munson weren’t friendly. They just sort of grunted at him, snickered something about King Steve and went about their day. Chrissy wasn’t phased.
She showed him his new pool. It was beautiful, a gorgeous sapphire blue. When she steadied his arms as he lowered himself in, briefly sparks flew.
But then she went back to her tent. Where she shared a bed with Hargrove and Munson.
For his own sanity, Steve tried his best not to imagine that.
Chrissy would come every night to the side of his pool to share food and gossip. She was so full of life, Steve couldn’t quite believe he’d once saw her dead body crumpled on the floor. Sometimes they even held hands.
Those days were Steve’s favourite.
Hargrove and Munson seemed to be warming up to him too, throwing out a “hey man” every time they passed Steve doing laps early in the morning. Chrissy was ecstatic. Steve wasn’t sure why.
Then she kissed him on his 21st birthday and things started to make a lot more sense.
They were all her boyfriends. Hargrove and Munson definitely seemed to have something going on too. Steve should have just been happy with that but he couldn’t help but want more. To prove himself to Billy and Eddie somehow.
Chrissy shook her head fondly and called him a silly fish when he told her. He asked why but instead she planted a kiss on his nose and said “you’ll see.”
Steve wasn’t sure what Chrissy had done but she must have done something because Eddie started to come to his pool with his guitar just to talk about The Hobbit or weed or whatever. Billy started doing laps with Steve, rarely talking but sometimes squeezing his shoulder and winking at him.
They weren’t exactly hiding their powers anymore either. Eddie would flash his fangs, very proud to be a vampire. Billy shifted into his wolf form with Steve still watching. It was almost like a courting ritual.
Eddie was a much easier target to get the information out of, even though half of it was an unrelated ramble. Something about Steve helping him get through his high school woes until he started dating girls and then his woes got even bigger.
Steve kissed him to shut him up.
Billy was a much tougher nut to crack. What had previously been lewd flirtation and confidence turned into quiet, introverted embarrassment. Though the manhandling had continued, to Steve’s secret delight.
Steve ended up having to grapple him and make the first move. Telling him that he’d been in love with him since the first time they met and that if Billy reciprocated, Steve might just die of happiness right there.
Billy just gulped, gave him a water lily and was about to run off before Steve dragged him back for a night under the water.
So Steve had two boyfriends and a girlfriend now. And he was a fish. Life was full of surprises
This is my fic for @st-rarepair-roulette which has been a joy to participate in! I still feel very honoured that I was entrusted with a mod role and I hope that everyone else had as much fun with it as I did!

Disabled Billy and Steve Week
Day 4- Personal Heroes
My prompt: the iconic Joyce Byers
-•-•-•-•-
“Oh my goodness, what a surprise!”
Joyce opens her door to a stoop full of smiling faces. Steve, Chrissy, Billy, and Eddie dropped by for a visit to their mother in law. Her warm, inviting home, although no longer inhabited by children, has been a place they can come any time for a nice meal or a trip through old photo albums of either Steve as a little kid, when he was once kindergarten best friends with Jonathan, or of Billy through his recovery when she’d adopted him as her own.
It’s only been a week since their last visit, but since they usually make time for two trips, Joyce, her son, and his three partners, are all overjoyed.
Though Joyce does give a little warning, in between the hugs she gives to each of them, “Before you come in, I have to say, it’s a bit of a mess in here. I haven’t had time to clean.”
Everyone knows who it’s for, because Billy’s ocd has been known to get overwhelmed by things being in places he’s not used to and cause him to start picking his skin to pieces. She doesn’t make a big deal of it or say that directly to her son though, since she knows it’ll make him more likely to react.
Ultimately it must be okay, because Eddie takes the lead and assures her, “We’re just dropping in for a few minutes, Mrs. B. It’s no problem.”
So she steps inside and lets them all in, Steve entering last since he’s pushing Chrissy's wheelchair today. It serves almost as a mobility aid to him too, keeping him upright and stable to lean on Chrissy's chair just a little. His biggest fear is having a cataplexic attack while he’s helping his wife get around, but they all assure him that they can see the signs and help him before that happens.
They settle into the living room, the boys in a row on the couch with Chrissy pulled up right beside them, and Joyce in a soft recliner across from them. Out of nowhere her new baby, her golden retriever, comes dashing into the room, and jumps straight across the three on the couch, demanding pets from all of them.
Joyce chuckles at the puppy she’s been working to train since her nest became empty, “Malty says hello too!”
Eddie taps Maltys wet brown nose, Billy rubs his belly, and Steve tries to catch his wagging tail. It's cute, and reminds Joyce of how young they still are, despite having moved out. Everyday she’s grateful to witness moments like these, after all the hurting her kids had been through.
It reminds her too, that there’s recently been an important milestone in her kids lives she needs to check up on, “So? How is everything at the new place? Tell me everything!”
Something clearly isn’t right when they exchange a look, except for Chrissy of course since she lost the majority of her sight in the accident.
Joyce settles in even more comfortably, “Oh no. I know that look. Don’t hold anything back.”
After a collective deep sigh, Eddie starts, “Stevie got stuck in the elevator on the first day.”
They all grimace, including Joyce. Steve hasn’t done well with enclosed spaces after being trapped underneath the mall. Especially elevators. Joyce can just imagine the panic he’d gone through, and the effects it would have had on his health. Panic attacks make his blood sugar drop, and trying to fix low blood sugar too fast can trigger his narcolepsy. It’s terrible.
Which seemingly reminds Steve himself of another bad fact, as he informs Joyce, “The neighbors have been throwing parties all night.”
This earns a collective nod. At least it’s not life threatening, but it’s still a terrible nuisance. One that Joyce remembers hating when she got her first apartment close to the community college. The affordability was not worth that headache.
It’s sad that this isn’t the end of their list of grievances. One such being a complaint that makes Billy noticeably and visibly angry, as he breaks his silence for today, “There was a fire drill at 3am and no accommodations for Chrissy's wheelchair.”
Now that’s enough to earn a gasp as a reaction. Joyce has had disabled children since Jonathan was born, but somehow it never ceases to shock her just how many barriers of human invention will spring up in the way of her disabled family.
Chrissy decides to change the subject to another issue before Billy gets too steamed about that last one, “And we found a rat's nest under the bed.”
That one is personal. Joyce hates rodents. It’s some sort of phobia she has, where even the thought of one can give her the chills. When Will was seven, he’d brought home an injured opossum from one of his bike rides, and she’d driven the creature straight to Claudia Henderson and her boys to take care of instead of letting it in her house.
Her excuse to little Will and his too big heart was that the Hendersons had more veterinary experience, which was true, but it was still easier than explaining irrational fears to her naive little one.
All of that leaves her unsure what to say, so she is bluntly honest; that’s probably what the kids had wanted coming to her. Joyce sounds sympathetic though, never harsh, “That doesn’t sound like a home at all. You four don’t have to put up with that.”
Steve looks sad as he informs her, probably having already felt the same way, “According to our contract we do.”
But Joyce is not taking no for an answer. Her kids are not going to suffer like that, under any circumstances.
“No, no- I’m married to the ex police chief. I can pull a few strings.”
Sweet Chrissy rushes to assure her, “You don’t have to do that.”
“Oh, I’m going to. My kids are not going to be put in danger because of some shitty landlord.” It was never a question. Joyce takes action right away, planning, and getting them involved, “Billy, Eddie, do you two know if there are any empty trailers near Mr. Wayne?”
Billy looks at Eddie, and Eddie at Billy. This conversation is overwhelming, and she understands when Billy has gone silent again. She even saw him discreetly turn his hearing aids off. He gives little taps and traces lines on Eddie’s hand, while Eddie whispers to him and makes sure they’re on the same page.
Then, as their representative, Eddie brings the conversation back to Joyce to tell her- “Actually the old Mayfield trailer is empty again. An old couple bought it after Max moved in with you guys, but they’re both in care homes now.”
“Good. I have a few phone calls to make. You can stay here until I’ve fixed this. But you four are not going back to that apartment.” Joyce declares, in her ‘and that’s final’ tone only a mother can do with such perfection.
Then she gets up, gives each of them one more hug, and goes into the kitchen to have a little talk on the phone with their landlord.
And on her way out of the room, Joyce may pretend to not see the looks of relief exchanged between Billy and Steve, with an additional smirk on her sons face, or the comforting hand Eddie puts on Chrissy's shoulder, all signs that this was planned, and they knew she’d help them out of a tough situation.
She’s just glad her boy and his partners trust her so deeply. There’s no need to bring it up. Not when she gets to see the joy and relief on their faces when they’re moving into their very own trailer a week later, the delay only because Wayne and Jim had worked together making the trailer more accessible.
From redoing the stairs and building a wheelchair ramp, to lowering a couple of counters in the kitchen and taking out the island, the space was much easier now for Chrissy to navigate, at least, it would be once she got used to the layout and felt comfortable pushing herself again.
So yeah, it was worth it. Joyce hugs her kids one more time, and maybe sends a secret middle finger to the sky, and everyone who told her adopting her Billy would be too much trouble.
~~~~~~
Let’s talk about Disability Foundation.
Focusing on individuals with physical disabilities, this Canadian foundation partners with six other charitable societies, as well as listening to disabled folks themselves, to provide opportunities for accessibility. Their founder was himself a disabled man who realized that he could help other people like him who wanted more from life.
What this means is that they organize activities that are usually not adapted for us. Their goal in doing this is to keep disabled folks feeling involved, active, and free. It can be frustrating being stuck inside a lot of the time, I know from experience, and this foundation tries to help those with physical disabilities have more options of things we can do.
Inspiration and empowerment are just two of the benefits of realizing that something previously deemed impossible for you is now possible. The foundation acknowledges the barriers that exist even in already accessible places, and works to help disabled folks overcome that as well.
They accept monetary donations, which can be applied to all programs, or just those that need it most, and also volunteer work.
If you’re interested in any of that, you can visit the site right here!!
Hellcheergroveton Pride set! Based on some personal headcanons/aus of mine! <3 Free to use as icons if anyone would like to!
@intothedysphoria I think you’d like these!!
Here’s their identities in list form since the colors and flags are filtered and may be hard to recognize:
Bisexual enby (he/they) Chrissy
Transmasc mlm (he/him) Steve
Genderflux asexual (he/she/it) Eddie
Bisexual polyamorous (any pronouns but cis) Billy
-side note- they’re all dating, but Billy most strongly identifies as polyam because he isn’t ever comfortable in a monogamous relationship, while the others could be and were before. Also Eddie’s romantic orientation is unlabeled :)
Hellcheergroveton Summoning Au (Eddie x Chrissy x Billy x Steve)
When Chrissy and Steve summon Billy and Eddie back from the upside down they come back... different. A little Not Safe for work. If you’re under 18 please look away!
Chrissy’s bangs blew back from her face and she instinctively turned her head away until the strong unnatural wind died down. She felt more than saw the candle in her hands blow out, but when she opened her eyes.
Steve gasped.
It was them. At least... it looked like it might be them. Eddie was paler, hair longer, tangled over his shoulders. Billy seemed massive, but maybe it was just that she hadn’t seen him in so long. They were both covered in blood and grime, neither had any clothes, but they didn’t seem hurt at least at first glance. They just stared at Chrissy and Steve, Eddie gripping Billy’s shoulder with black clawed fingernails. What had happened to them down there?
Chrissy crept forward, fumbling in her pocket for a match to light the candle, still terrified that they wouldn’t stay.
“Billy?” Steve stepped forward, hand held out.
Billy cocked his head to the side as he examined Steve. He turned to Eddie, chin dipping.
“Dreaming?” He asked, voice low and rough.
Eddie dug his claws into Billy’s shoulder a little, “Wake up. Wake up.”
Steve shook his head, “No, you’re not dreaming. We brought you back. We-” Steve looks back at Chrissy helplessly.
“We brought you back. You’re... back on earth,” Chrissy’s throat felt tight, but she didn’t know how to explain, didn’t know what they had gone through so she didn’t know how to convince them of what was happening.
Without warning, Billy lunged at Steve, teeth bared, and they were... massive, sharp and frighting. Chrissy yelped, but the circle held and Billy couldn’t get past the line of salt, though he raged against it, whipping around to snap at Eddie wordlessly. She had meant to free them as soon as possible, but maybe they needed a little more time to adjust.
Steve bared his teeth right back, siren scales flashing in the moonlight for just an instant. But he softened almost instantly.
Steve stepped back, "Billy, it’s me. It’s Steve. Remember? Baby, it’s us.”
Billy looked furiously at the salt circle, then up at Steve, “Come to me. Come.”
Chrissy looked at Eddie, who was prowling at the edges of the circle, flashing looks at Billy, “They won’t be able to step over the line. Let’s... give them a second. It’s okay, guys, you’re safe now.”
Eddie’s eyes, dark and hollow, alighted with something, and then he grabbed Billy around his waist. Chrissy’s brow furrowed, and then her whole face went slack with surprise.
Massive black wings, leathery and strong, unfolded from Eddie’s back and he didn’t step them over the line... he bypassed the line entirely.
Chrissy backed away, nearly tripping into her own altar as they dropped down in front of her and Steve.
“Chrissy,” Eddie let go of Billy and reached out with one clawed hand, touching the side of her face and sending a shiver down her spine, “Wake up, Chrissy.”
“Eddie,” She was torn between laughing and crying and throwing her arms around him, “Eddie, you’re back.”
“Pretty boy!” Billy rumbled.
Billy tackled Steve to the ground, and Chrissy instinctively reached out to them. This was the wrong thing to do. Or the right thing to do. Billy was on her in a moment, leaning her over the altar, his thigh jammed between hers. He smelled like grave dirt and blood and he... oh... he licked up her neck. Pressed his face into her ear and sighed.
“Alive,” He growled, grinding against her, “Alive.”
“B-Billy,” She bit her lip, stifling a moan, “Wh-what’s happening? Steve?”
She peeked around Billy’s shoulder at Steve, who was underneath Eddie, wings spread. They were kissing, shamelessly, and Steve was leaning up to him, arms thrown around Eddie’s massive shoulders. They broke the kiss and Chrissy could see blood on Steve’s lips, Eddie licking razor sharp fangs.
“Uh... I think they remember us at least,” Steve said, staring up into Eddie’s eyes, "Do you think they want...?”
Chrissy groaned as Billy started to lift the hem of her dress, “Yeah, I think they want what you think they want.”
Billy turned towards Eddie and Steve, still grinding against Chrissy, “Eddie. Alive. Alive.”
Eddie was on them in an instant, Steve yelping as they sped across the room, and then Steve was plastered against Billy with a groan. Eddie’s wings folded around them all in a cocoon, pressing them all together tightly.
“Oh,” Chrissy looked up at him, “Eddie.”
Eddie smiled wickedly, “Alive.“
She nodded, “Yes, you’re alive.”
“Mate,” Billy reached around, gripping Steve around his shoulders with one hand and holding Chrissy’s cheek with the other, “Mate now.”
Steve just laughed headily, “Yeah, that’s Billy alright.”
Eddie licked his lips, looking down at Steve, “Yes?”
Steve nodded, glancing over his shoulder at Chrissy.
She looked up into Billy’s blue eyes. Still human, underneath the upside down-ness of him, “Yes. Missed you. Missed you so much.”
Blorbo ask! 🖤🩶💐🌹 for Eddie
FOR EDDIE my GUY!
If they weren't from their source, what fandom universe do you think they would make the most sense in? OHHH.... That 70s Show. Jason would fit in quite well too.
What's a popular headcanon for them you just can't get behind? That his parents were really bad or abandoned him in a terrible way. Just because his dad is in jail means nothing, that doesn't mean he's a bad person. YES I've seen descriptions of the book but I do not accept it.
What are your favorite poly ship(s) for them, if any? Jason/Eddie/Chrissy, or Eddie/Billy/Steve/Jason, or or Eddie/Chrissy/Steve/Billy.
What is their main hate language, if any? Alienation. He removes himself from anything and everyone. He's a silent treatment master, can even disappear inside the house.
I’ve got lots of ideas for lots of ships, and I’m curious what my followers would like! I’ll probably end up making a few of these, the poll is more about which you’d like to see first since I have a bit of spare time in the next few days!!
