i don’t vague. i am not ab that. @phoenixonwheels . let’s break down some of ur points. i assume u r open to genuine discussion since u post in the public sphere.

first thing first. “MERD” is not an analog to “TERF.” trans exclusionary radical feminism says that transgender women can never be women, and transgender men are lost women. “mental exclusion” would theoretically mean that cripplepunk is solely for the mentally abled physdis community. but this is not what happens, and the vast majority of cripples are also mentally ill/disabled.

second. calling out the use of insane/idiot/etc does not work for that exact reason. you do exactly what you seem to be upset at other ppl for doing. they assume you are able bodied and you laugh at them for telling a wheelchair user that cpunk isn’t for them. we laugh bcs you act like the average cripple is mentally well and casually using slurs as if the most popular mean cripple exclusionist isn’t bipolar and you’re not arguing with neurodivergent and mentally ill ppl every day.

third. “mental disability” in those exact words is terminology that the b/id community has been asking others not to use, but ofc nobody ever listens to intellectually disabled ppl bcs changing language is so awful. most mental disorders are what we prefer ppl to call psychosocial disabilities. even if you don’t give up this MERD thing (bcs you obviously won’t and will block me after this and cry ab exclusionism and i really don’t care) at least consider changing this language.

fourth. if your mental or psychosocial disability causes physical symptoms, THE PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS ARE THE PHYSICAL DISABILITY. if you have anxiety that causes you constant blood pressure and heart issues and chest pain then nobody in cripplepunk gives a shit where it comes from. your physical symptoms are physically disabling. your disability is your business all we are asking is “does it affect you physically.” cripplepunk communities are AWARE that these are not strict categories and the two impact each other.

you seem like you have a very poor understanding of cripplepunk spaces, likely bcs you don’t actually want to communicate in common ground terms. if you went to a community space and said smth like “i have autism which caused me pretty severe motor skill and coordination issues, i therefore identify myself as physically disabled and a cripple” no one would care. literally no one would care.

final point. how do u feel ab the idea of mentally abled cripples calling themselves insane and participating in madpunk/neuropunk?

as someone who is both trans and disabled i think the fact that transphobia and ableism come from the exact same place isn’t talked about enough like. it’s the idea of someone being abnormal looking abnormal needing medication needing healthcare. it’s the idea of people changing their bodies to help themselves it’s the idea of bodily autonomy it’s the idea that the people you know will be abnormal in ways that cannot be hidden. being transgender is conflated with disability, both physical and mental, by transphobes, and cannot be talked about without talking about ableism.

you’ll see it in their talking points. doing shit like “would you let a MENTALLY ILL person around your DAUGHTER?” implying mental illness makes you a danger unfit to be around a child worthy of scorn and mockery, needing to be hidden away from the public instead of having their rights fought for. it’s in framing autistic trans people as unable to make decisions of their own, framing them as objects and pets and not people who should be pretty little dolls and when we're not we're clearly being manipulated into it. it’s in how they mock surgery and scars and treat the medical consequences of such as gross and immoral, framing surgery as something horrific to be avoided because of it being “abnormal”, talking about how no one should ever be on medication for life even though most people that are are disabled people who would be severely impacted and possibly die without it. it’s in the way they casually call trans people retarded and crippled. they’re the same thing.

and we see this! photomatt, the guy harassing a random trans woman for being mean to him on the internet and breaking the fucking law for epic owns, has told people with epilepsy who are in genuine danger from flashing lights in ads to buy ad free for basic accessibility and Not Dying. bigotry against trans people directly leads to bigotry against disabled people. bigotry against disabled people directly leads to bigotry against trans people. our struggles are linked so heavily.

and if not then how come only one group of oppressors can reclaim the slur they call the oppressed? did you not realize that able-bodied people, even neurodivergent ones, systemically oppress physically disabled people? or that physically disabled people are oppressed in a way unique to them?

we may both be disabled but if you're not physically disabled, you dont have to worry about something as simple as not being able to make it onto a curb. even if you're neurodivergent, if you're not physically disabled, you do not have to deal with the same shit as us, you have able-bodied privilege, even i as a cane and crutch user have privilege over someone who can't walk at all and has to use a wheelchair 24/7, remember that.

"oh but doctors used to call us mental cripples" the word "cripple" in this context is still referring to physically disabled people and having to add a modifier in front of a slur so it applies to you should clue you in that its not your slur, arabic people get called "sand (n-slurs)" but its still widely agreed that only black people can reclaim that slur. if you think able-bodied people can reclaim cripple because of the term "mental cripple" then logically you should agree that arabics should be able to reclaim the n-word, right?

New Hellcheergroveton Au ~~ Short Chapter Fic Coming Soon!

Premise: In a Post-Vecna world, Billy recently started using a cane to help with his developing mobility issues, while Steve, his boyfriend with partial vision loss, chronic migraines, and a TBI that affects his speech, has thought of a plan to help Billy feel more comfortable using it. That plan happens to involve Chrissy, who is blind, and Eddie, who is hard of hearing and uses mobility aids as well (a decked out, fully customized rollator or a wheelchair of the same punkness usually) to manage his fibromyalgia. Secretly they’re all definitely crushing on each other.

His solution comes in the form of one Chrissy Cunningham.

Ever since she barely survived Vecna crumpling her like a paper ball, her vision never came back. They pinned together her bones and wired her jaw until it healed, but they can’t exactly get her new eyes that aren’t bloodshot and clouded milky-white. So she walks with a cane. It has a little round circle on the end to roll and feel more accurately where she’s going. She likes it better than the hard-ended tapping cane they gave her first.

And that’s a whole revelation.

A cane. Billy can use a cane.

He asks Eddie to arrange a ride for him, and the next day they’re at the pharmacy (thanks to Wayne. Billy loves that guy) buying him an adjustable, pretty cheap cane. There’s a choice between a harsh, eye-burning blue color that reminds him just a little too much of his old junked car, or a plain black one. It’s a pretty easy choice.

He’s just a little bummed that the one he gets is so… boring.

Billy’s second revelation comes in the form of Eddie Munson.

Why it didn’t come to him sooner, he isn’t sure. Eddie was literally there with him the day he got the damn cane. In his wheelchair. Totally decked out in patches and spikes and stickers.

Customized mobility aids. Billy didn’t even know that was a thing!

Well, obviously he did, but he didn’t think that was an option for him. Eddie Munson is so much cooler than him. They both went through hell, but only one of them had come out the other side passionately fighting against the systems that would make it impossible to pay for their meds and their aids were it not for the liability payouts they were owed by the assholes who made the monsters that tried to kill them. Billy admires the social reform shit Eddie gets up to in his free time, when the spoon drawer isn’t empty.

He calls it Cripple Punk. It’s a whole thing. Billy doesn’t like that word so much, but he likes Eddie a lot, and he likes what he stands for too. And honestly, he kinda likes the idea of having spikes on his cane like Eddie has on the back of his chair.

Just the idea makes Billy feel badass too and not so much like somebody’s old granny.

That post I reblogged is based exactly on the text written by the person who actually started the movement referred to as cpunk, and since they said that cpunk is exclusively for physically disabled people, then you don't get to edit that statement just because the creator of the movement is dead and can't speak up about it. So go start your own radically inclusive movement instead of appropriating other people's activism for yourself. Cpunk is created for physically disabled people because the creator of the movement very explicitly said so - and that's not a bad thing. That's not an attack on other kinds of disabled people

officially started season 2 of the boys. and it’s a strong start! i watched it with my friends, and they seemed to enjoy being as miserable as me. some highlights:

which works well until you remember he has to be completely nude for this to work effectively and that means that they would have buried him nude. i actually have major doubts about him being in there in any real capacity given the state of his body upon recovery (Families be like Can we see him) but even imagining myself as a member of the funeral who doesn’t know that that he got blown up, i imagine it would have struck me as odd. also, he was jewish.
