Ranking famous slashers (based on how likely they are to be cool with trans people)

(Disclaimer: this is a very silly ironic post for pride month).

Chucky (Child's Play)

In what can only be described as an "absolute hum-dinger" of an opening entry, we have Chucky, the only slasher who has (and explicitly supports) a transgender child. Sure. You know what? Good for him.

2. Ash Williams (The Evil Dead franchise)

"Uhh this guy isn't a slasher!" He has a chainsaw for a hand. He's killed 65+ deadites over the course of four movies and a goofy tv show with said grisly chainsaw hand. I will die on the hill that Ash is a good-aligned slasher. Anyway, Ash would also be happy to learn that trans women being more widely-accepted means there are More Women. He wouldn't even have to have being trans explained to him, he'd get it. He's dealt with so much weird shit, someone wanting to transition is nothing. Hail to the king, baby.

3. Herbert West (Re-Animator)

Herbert West looks so much like one of my trans guy friends in real life that I'm just going to decide that he's trans. My guy was synthesizing HRT in his wacky little lab long before he was filling vials with glowing green goo to raise the dead. He's still ranked lower than Ash, though, because he's kind of cringe in general. Sorry, Herbie baby

4. Bubba Sawyer (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre)

Bubba definitely doesn't care about anyone's gender. He's killing them with chainsaws. That being said, the exceptions to this would occur within his own family. If one of Bubba's brothers came out as trans and you decided to be transphobic, Bubba would definitely cut you into even grislier, gorier little pieces than usual, because he's a bro like that.

5. Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th)

Jason is a conceptually hilarious character at this point, and between all of the deaths and resurrections and visits to Hell and more deaths and resurrections, he's probably had time enough to come to terms with trans people. He just wants to kill everyone at Crystal Lake, for god's sakes. Let him be. (Also, he fought a transphobe--I will explain this remark later in this post.)

6. Daniel Robitaille (Candyman)

Daniel's been dead for quite a while, so that might be a minor roadblock to his understanding of trans people. That being said, he seemed to navigate the modern world pretty deftly in the original Candyman. You might have to explain transitioning to him a bit, but he'd get the concept pretty quickly. He might still kill you with his hook, though. Sorry.

7. Carrie White (Carrie)

Carrie is in a complicated place, because yes, she was raised in a very sheltered, evangelical environment, but we must consider that she is a girlboss and a girlbeast. My verdict? After an initial period of "not getting it," Carrie would throw herself whole hog into being a trans ally. If you are trans, Carrie will be there to light transphobic people on fire. This is not an offer, it is a statement of intent. Be ready for her arrival.

9. Hannibal Lecter (Silence of the Lambs + other movies)

Uuugh... see, I think that Hannibal would absolutely use the right pronouns and name for a trans person, but he'd definitely ask those really annoying "tell me, Will" style questions about your gender over a plate of definitely-not-human liver and fava beans. "Do you feel as though you are step in step with God Himself when you take your estrogen pills, as though your are joining in the act of divine creation?" No, Hannibal, she is just transitioning. Please chill.

A completed chapter work all about Dan and Herbert trying to manage a life in suburbia, tired of running from town to town and wanting to make a more permanent start in their new home. This work features a whole assortment of side characters that are so well developed and make this fic so much more than a simple drabble. It has a super engaging plot, and a lot of amazing married couple Dan + Herbert moments that made me melt.

A little one shot that takes place in the aftermath of Bride. It's a really heartwarming hurt/comfort fic in which Herbert is begging Dan not to leave him. It's also each of them realizing that somewhere at some point, without realizing they could never really be without each other.

There'll be Days When I'll Stray (I May Appear to be Constantly Out of Reach) - HATECADILLAC

Another one shot, this one taking place in the aftermath of Dan and Herbert having sex for the first time. Takes place during the first film and is simply the conversion they have afterwards, wrapped within everything else that they want to say, but won't. Features trans Herbert and beautiful illusions to the music of Depeche Mode. Definitely more than worth the read.

A massive collection of one shots between Dan and Herbert!! These are all pretty short so if you are looking for a quick read, I completely recommend this. Perfect if you are looking for some fluff between these two idiots.

OK so it's set in a universe that is literally a musical! the characters all sing and dance and yes it's real music in-universe. it's kind of more like a spoof of jekyll and hyde adaptations so the characters are younger than their book counterparts but it's ok they're more autistic and more gay to make up for that. also set in the modern day.

So this Henry Jekyll is a chemistry teacher slash researcher and he plays the accordion and is a sunshine boy but WATCH OUT he's created a potion that turns you to your """dark side""" and when he tries it on himself he becomes shadow the hedgehog Edward Hyde (number one edgelord of ever). he's trans and bi. he's also spanish because fuck it. Hyde's appearance and behavior become more animalistic the fuller the moon is.

his bestie Gabrielle Utterson is cartoon-boring (really likes paperwork and her favorite food is plain bread) and she's a divorce lawyer but her dream is to be a detective and also maybe to romance a sexy brooding goth monster. she's soooooo angel themed you have no idea, also she thinks she's ugly but she isnt. Henry has a crush on her (it's mutual) (they're both idiots so they don't confess). his best frenemy is Hastie Lanyon who is a Texan cowboy in here because I'm not happy with just one texan cowboy in gothic literature (sorry Quincy Morris) he's also Japanese American and non-binary and walk walk fashion baby.

the story is overall more lighthearted with Hyde being a morally gray antihero at most (who doesnt kill. yet.) and after it ends they all date each other (diversity win this poly trio is t4t4t!) enfield is there also ig. shes a girl too but she dates no one because we need more loser girl rep.

so anyway Henry teaches at a special high school for super talented teenagers and his students are like. Victoria Frankenstein (also a girl tee hee) Herbert West uuuuh Carmilla and stuff. the headmaster is van helsing who has a doctorate in German literature in here and anyway eventually hyde starts killing monster hunters in self defense and after a few shenanigans Jekyll's fucked up experiment and shapeshifting thing are discovered and made public and. hes like. oh fuck. until van helsing reveals to him he's the director of EROS (extraordinary research organization society) which is like the MIB of this universe and their job is to make sure monsters dont hurt people, mostly through non-violent means. and that the school was a front for it. so he offers him a job as the head of scientific research all like "if you work for us we will keep you out of legal trouble for anything you do" and hes like uuuh fine by me lol.

it's very disjointed and I still have to like hone it but yeah that's it mostly.

mod winslow personally speaking: i'm of the weirdly unpopular opinion that tboy swag does not discriminate between cringe and cool. see eminem, who's one of the most cringe (understatement) people i can think of and is also one of the original cis men with obvious tboy swag (and was also in one of the funny tboy swag posts that inspired this blog which i absolutely started as a joke btw). never has the purpose of this blog to me been to post people who i find good or valid or have gender envy for and separate them from people i hate and, like eminem, want to kill to death and resurrect just to kill again. it is JUST about having the swagger of a trans man. he also has no more and no less tboy swag to me than real normal and cool seeming person bruno mars or fictional mad scientist from a campy 80s horror movie herbert west. tboy cringe and tboy swag are not and never have been opposites or contradicting. there's nothing inherently good or cool or valid about tboy swag. if there was, roman roy would absolutely not be on this blog. however: do what you want i don't care.

WHAT IS THIS GROUP?

this will be a discord-based rp server taking place in victorian era london. you don’t need to have a blog for your character in order to join the server — all roleplaying will be done through discord itself. all sorts of characters are welcome, from canon characters to original creations — the only characters not accepted are real-life historical figures (like jack the ripper, queen victoria, etc). you may join with a character from any class level: we want a healthy mix of characters who are upper class, middle class, working class, or in poverty. you don’t need to be an expert on victorian era society, but please do at least a little research into what jobs your characters might have, to keep things realistic and varied.

This is a personal post letting my subconscious vomit so I can write out all the swirling thoughts I have about subjects (that are within the TOS ha ha) so I can try and make personal sense about them.

How I feel about representations of Spider-Man does not reflect how I feel about real life people. My blog and personal life are welcoming and open to people who aren't TERFs, Nazis, MAPs and others who can die in a fire.

If I openly hate you it is totally personal and because of something that happened IRL.

The first amendment protects you against the government not Little Walken.

I prefer an 18+ audience because of cursey words and I'm not dealing with your parents who don't like what I might write.

This is about that extra post I wrote today about if everything is sacred then nothing is.

If you aren't ready to go on a thinking about writing and characters and representation journey to give you stuff to ponder after the pic you don't have to stick around.

Take for example all the Spider-People with the first non arachnid power thing that comes to mind about them. Tobey is the typical broke ass white guy, Andrew is Biderman, Tom is trans, Miles is a young POC, Gwen is female, Peni is female and has a robot, the hamburger scarfing Peter is middle aged and was allowed to grow up, Spider-Ham is an animal, Spider-Noir might be Jewish.

Quick and dirty but there in a nut shell. The commonality is they all have spider powers in one way or another. You get into the canonical nuances of their (and others I haven't mentioned) personality you'll find something to latch on to. They all don't have to be Martians on top of it.

If you're always making all of your characters, or the leads or the ones you identify with, Martians you have to ask yourself if you're either a Martian rewriting Earth stuff for your Martian audience then by all means keep doing your job or if you're stuck in a writing rut.

I don't feel it's the same as all Cardassians have tails. That's just how their species works.

But every time there is a male presenting character/actor who is or isn't shorter than average and has features and mannerisms that could be read as feminine you don't have to read everything he does as trans.

Just because Bill, of Bill and Ted as played by Alex Winter, is read as and even supported by Alex himself to be seen as trans doesn't mean Marco in Lost Boys and everything else he's done is trans too. He could just be a little curly haired gremlin you want to keep in your pocket because his presentation of masculinity is outside that which the media portrays.

Read Jeffrey Combs' Herbert West how you want, I see him more as asexual, but if you need one of his characters to be read as trans wouldn't it be more impactful if it was Crawford Tillinghast? From Beyond is a very sensual movie and having Crawford pondering his voyage to masculinity thru it would resonate with me better. With everything Herbert already gives us I'd wonder if it was self misogyny for him to have transitioned from a female to male body.

In The Cure they all wear make-up, Simon wore skirts and dresses as his daily wear for awhile, Roger was more androgynous of face in his days, Pearl has become someone who looks like they believe genders were invented to sell bathrooms. I've seen more arguments from people worried about what gender to use for Pearl, Daliesque used 'him' and I think she'd know, then mentioning his art shows or making music with Lol.

If you find in your creative outputs that all of your non OC characters are trans or gender fluid or LGBTQ+ then none of them are. You're so busy trying to represent everyone you'll end up representing no one. Look at what you're creating and ask yourself why am I making all my characters this way? I'm not talking commissions and similar things, I'm talking in what you make for yourself. Why do you make the character choices that you do?

When there's no basic majority of society's norms Peter Parker to contrast against there's no Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, Peter Porker, or even Olivia Octavius to stand out against him.
