Ahhhhh this was really tricky to translate as this song was full of metaphors (classic Satocchan). But even though it hurt my brain so much, I pushed through as I believe this is one of their best songs - I feel like it’s a love letter of some sort to their fans/supporters for being their light, and because they received so much love and support (light) from them, they will do their best to pass on that light to others through their music.

❥ Twitter Drama #1 : Sobre aquel hilo de Nvnte Japan Parte II ★彡

Seguimos con esta serie de opiniones de artistas basadas en el hilo que quizo Nvnte Japan este año, y así también van sabiendo que artistas me gustan y que tipo de J-Pop escucho. Sin más que decir, empezamos:

Aunque no soy muy amiga de lo que los japoneses escuchan hoy en dìa, Kenshi Yonezu es mi excepción y no me sorprende porque es de los poquísimos artistas no idol en llegar al millón de copias por sus propios medios. Su música es entretenida, o por lo menos tiene canciones que lo son, y incluso si su música tiene vibras que suenan un poco repetitivas, él se las ingenia para que suenen frescas.

CALIFICACIÓN: GOOD

Yuuri es de los artistas más mediocres de los últimos años, sólo es trendy y llega a los charts porque hace la basura que a los weebs y a los japoneses les gusta mas no porque de verdad esté trayendo algo que nunca hayamos visto en el J-Pop. Además de que algunas de sus controversias personales dejan mucho que desear de él. Uno de los problemas del J-Pop mainstream actual es la falta de hits consecutivos de artistas populares y no me sorprende porque sucede dado que con esas canciones súper aburridas, a uno le dan ganas de salir corriendo ngl.

CALIFICACIÓN: MEDIOCRE BYE

Más o menos me convenció el vocalista del grupo cuando intentó sacar singles en solitario por allá en el 2021 pero la verdad es que la música de ellos como grupo me aburre, al igual que con muchos artistas populares no traen nada novedoso y son la típica banda de pop rock con canciones súper básicas. Un aspecto interesante del J-Pop es como los artistas más prefabricados y sin alma son justamente grupos que aparentan esa vibra de ser complejos y diferentes, pero a la hora de escucharlos se siente que son uno más del montón. No los consideraría mediocres porque en varios aspectos sí se ven que son más o menos decentes, pero tampoco traen algo que ya no hayamos visto en los 2000s con otros artistas que son muchísimo mejores.

CLASIFICACIÓN: MEH

Creo que son el grupo Johnny que más me gusta, son más o menos consistentes y tienen bops como Uyamuya o Mascara. De verdad, que es muy divertido escucharlos y me gustaría hacerlo más, pero como su compañía está estancada en el pasado al igual que la gran mayoría de Johnny's no están en streaming, y por ende no los escucho tanto como debería (hace mucho tiempo que perdí el hábito de escuchar archivos mp3).

CLASIFICACIÓN: GOOD

Aunque en general, me gustan los Johnny's modernos, Naniwa Danshi es mi excepción. Supongo que es una banda con un concepto más tradicional, y por ende, su concepto me llega a parecer muy empalagoso e infantil (con este grupo tengo un problema muy parecido al que tengo con las idols japonesas). Además de que musicalmente son muy básicos y ninguno de ellos parece tener una habilidad significativa. I pass.

CALIFICACIÓN: MEDIOCRE BYE

Otra banda de J-Pop para básicos y weebs. Como ya lo dije con otros artistas de este mismo estilo, no aportan nada nuevo y sólo contribuyen a que cada día la música japonesa mainstream no sea ni la cuarta parte de lo que era hace quince o veinte años atrás.

CALIFICACIÓN: MEDIOCRE BYE

A pesar de como sucede con muchos Johnny's antiguos, las canciones viejas que conozco de ellos me parecen terribles pero los tiempos han cambiado y creo que han evolucionado bien, no los escucho mucho por el tema de los Johnny's y el streaming pero su álbum del año pasado estuvo muy bueno, además de que sus últimos singles tienen b-sides que son potenciales bops. Es una lástima que estos grupos sean inaccesibles porque hay algunos que tienen potencial.

CALIFICACIÓN: OK

Al igual que con King & Prince, me gustaría conocerlos más pero los altos mandos de los Johnny's piensan que todavía estamos en los 90s.

CALIFICACIÓN: NO APLICA

Son buenos omg, a simple vista parecen una banda más y aunque tienen algunos misses, de estas bandas populares me parece que son los únicos (junto a King Gnu) que de verdad están aportando algo interesante, su música es entretenida, no aburre y en algunas se les nota cierta complejidad en los arreglos.

CALIFICACIÓN: GOOD

Por lejos, uno de los artistas más decentes del mainstream actual. No me sorprende que a su corta edad, sea considerado uno de los compositores promesa porque en verdad lo es. De sus inicios, me agrada el hecho de que sus primeros singles sean versátiles y tengan distintos sonidos, además de que parecen expresar algún tipo de emoción compleja. Cuando se comenzó a volver popular, se centró más en su sonido rock y incluso, si no soy la gran fan del rock, admito que sus canciones de una u otra manera se las ingenian para que me gusten.

Me alegra mucho que él esté recibiendo el reconocimiento que merece porque en verdad es un artista que a larga veo que puede hacer las cosas mucho mejor de lo que ya de por sí lo hace.

CALIFICACIÓN: ICONIC

Higedan’s Editorial album is easily one of my favorite albums of all time.

Their music is so rich and textured, and their lyrics cinematic and relatable at the same time. Overall just a consistently amazing musical act.

(related note: 115万キロのフィルム (115man Kilo no Film) or 1.15 Million Kilometer Film from their earlier album, Escaparade, is an absolute masterpiece. The official live version they released felt like an explosion of passion, ugh i love it so much)

Toukai: favorite thing about them- Struggling single dad trying to make it in this world. I appreciate that he's skeptical of Nanase because uh. Yeahhh that tracks.

least favorite thing about them- Cop

favorite line- "Step away!!!! Don't get within a 5-meter radius of Misane!!! No, don't even get in her line of sight!!!!!", man I get it but that's so extra sjfahkjsf.

brOTP- I like his relationship with Misane, that he has a lot of apparent influence on her in her values and mannerisms, and that you can see how he has a good deal of faith in her skill. He's not perfect but he's trying. It's also kind of interesting to imagine him coming around to Nanase after he becomes an apprentice, or how his interactions with Arumu might have went during questioning.

OTP- Uh, his probably-dead wife who's only sort of vaguely implied by Misane's existence? I've got nothing.

nOTP- Nanase tbh.

random headcanon- Had started taking up woodworking in his free time following his clumsy attempt to build a treehouse for Misane, since while doing so it became clear how much work had been weighing on him and that maybe he needed something to take his mind off it once in a while. Although it's mostly small stuff like sculptures or trinkets, maybe a couple of birdhouses.

unpopular opinion- Actually now that I think about it, isn't it a little weird that he's letting his daughter travel with this guy he's suspicious of? Is he trying to let her be her own person and make her own decisions(in no small part because of her own insistence, but still 😔)? Although I suppose he is close enough around that they're able to get him on the scene for questioning when shit hits the fan? And it's been around a year since chXXX, maybe he trusts Nanase more now? Okay this isn't an unpopular opinion I just wanted to ramble.

favorite thing about them- HER ENERGY She has SUCH good vibes. I like the way she speaks and how eager she is to help out without regard to danger or rules(at least in the fact that she's a civilian helping out with detective work, which the game does address when she offers).

least favorite thing about them- Wish we got a proper send-off scene with her and the main duo since she's one of the only consistent presences throughout the game.

favorite line- "Well, they say living people are scarier!", girl you okay over there?

brOTP- Misane! Love the contrast in their personalities, they have a fun dynamic and I do like to imagine them staying in touch after the game or getting back in touch sometime later. It's also funny trying to imagine what her interactions with Yuuto as his subordinate would be like since they're such opposites.

random headcanon- Her and Hiyu are sort of long lost sisters, they were separated by the foster system when Arumu was a baby so she has no memory of Hiyu, and Hiyu herself is aware of but hesitant to approach her. Nanase is probably aware of this too but keeps his mouth shut because she didn't want him meddling.

song i associate with them- Immaculate Deception without the religious themes, so it's mostly just the mentions of photography though. Also sort of in the sense that despite her upbeat personality she's Seen Shit in her line of work and has just learned to take it, and the misfortunes that befall people, in stride?

More VAs announced for Tenjiku Arc

Yesterday was the early screening event for the 1st episode for TokRev's S3. Majority of the voice actors appearing this upcoming season were there.

What's more is they announced the VAs for Haruchiyo Sanzu and Kawata "Angry" Souya!

The VA for Sanzu is Okamoto Nobuhiko aka Bakugo from "BNHA" aka Nishinoya from "Haikyuu!" Honestly, I'm a little surprised because voice I had in my head for him was a bit more calm and flat (in this version of him, at least). I can definitely picture Nobu's voice being more fitting for the Bonten arc.

Angry's VA is Kawanishi Kengo aka The Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito from "Demon Slayer" and Hashida from "Blue Period." I say Kawanishi's voice suits him perfectly. Kawanishi is also voicing Smiley. Hope he gets 2 paychecks for that.

They'll be reusing "White Noise" by HiGeDan for the opening for S3, hopefully with an updated intro sequence cus it'd be kinda awkward to have Black Dragons on there still.

S3 of TokRev will air 10/3 and Hulu will be simulcasting it.
