Hi - asking in good faith here, but I am also relatively new to active anti-racism (im white, grew up in all white areas, and didn't encounter anti racist perspectives until college). In the last few years I've done a LOT of reading about anti-black racism, black feminist theory, womanism, etc, and I'm beginning to understand why the bastardization and appropriation of aave is so harmful. I don't want to put my friends of color on the spot about this or make them feel pressured to answer a certain way, though, and I DO want an answer that's grounded in theory and thoughtfulness about these things (two traits my circle of 18-20 year olds sometimes lacks, understandably). I know that that might put a lot of pressure on you as well but please know that while I do respect your opinion, I know you're just one Black person with one opinion - and of course if an irl Black friend ever came to me and told me to stop I would.

My question is, if I am making sure to attribute it correctly as AAVE, being careful to make sure I'm using it appropriately, and of course listening in case I hear I've misused it - is it still harmful for me as a white person to use aave? Is it possible to use aave non-harmfully as a white person, among Black friends? Or would it be better for me to do my best to remove those words and phrases and grammatical structures from the way I speak entirely?

A lot of these things, I pick up FROM my friends, and they haven't, idk, made faces or suggested I should stop or anything like that. But of course it's hard to sort out what I pick up from my friends, what I pick up from Black literature (im a terrible parrot from my books unfortunately 😬), and what comes from the intern*t lol. So there's obviously the potential to misuse or disrespect aave, especially if I ever stop being thoughtful about what I say and where I first hear it. And while I have tried to read up on the appropriation of AAVE and develop my own opinion, this really does seem like one of those things where as a white person my opinion is always going to be a little out of touch - and I REALLY don't want to hurt and alienate my friends and accidentally advance racism in my community because I felt qualified to comment on this.

I don't know. I grew up in a very white enclave in a very white area of a very white state, and I AM trying to catch up and think critically about what I do say and think, but honestly, I am very new to these things. So if this is a dumb question or I am inadvertently ignorant/inappropriate, I'm really sorry about that and please know that I AM trying to do better. (And I will never say no to specific resource recommendations. I've read everything you usually read in an intro to Africana studies course lol but there is so much out there!!)

Well as you said I am one person and I do not know you or talk to you really so I can't really say yes or no on your specific case. But also I would challenge you to ask yourself why you felt you needed the permission of a black stranger rather than actually sit down and talk to your friends about it.

I have said in other posts that it is less about needing to be black to speak AAVE and more about respect. I am all for cultural sharing and appreciation and I do not think that culture requires specifically only blood ties. I'm a mixed race person, after all, and one who has a quite large mixed race extended and found family. I think that blood is not the only thing that defines us.

But I also think that one must go into these sorts of conversations with respect. My white (passing) mother can understand my black family speaking AAVE, despite the fact that there was a single black kid in her neighborhood and school system when she grew up. This is because she treated my dad and his family with respect, and so they are comfortable speaking this way in front of her, and she is comfortable asking for clarification if she needs it, which is quite rare nowadays considering she's been married to my dad for 35 years and in a relationship with him for 42 and has thus had a lot of practice.

But she also doesn't use AAVE herself. To her, it would be disrespectful. She did not grow up in it. It is not her culture. It is shared with her due to proximity to said culture with her husband and father of her children. But for her, she chooses to continue to use the Pennsylvania Dutch-influenced dialect she grew up in, which is a very white Appalachian specific-to-Pennsylvania dialect and culture. I myself switch back and forth between the two, depending on who I'm talking to. Sometimes in the same conversation, if I'm talking to my mom vs my dad in the same room.

I don't think any of my black family would be offended if she did use AAVE, though again with her personality and the way she has approached this over the last several decades I think they'd be surprised if she suddenly did it like tomorrow or something. But she herself does not think it would be respectful of the culture, the dialect, or of her husband and inlaws for it to come out of her mouth. And I am sort of inclined to agree. Outside of a few slang words that have become so distant from their roots that it is difficult to say they are *purely* AAVE anymore, similar with many historically-Yiddish slang words, I do not personally think she could hold a conversation in AAVE and do it respectfully enough to not be offensive. It's just not really hers to do that with.

On the other hand, when I worked in a mostly-black store in an area that was significantly more black-populated, where I rarely had to code switch and mostly used AAVE all the timewith clients and customers, there were nonblack people who also used and understood AAVE. I had no problem with this, even with the white people doing it, because that was just how everyone in that area spoke. And, mot for nothing, but I found those white people to be as a general rule significantly less racist in their treatment of me and of other people of color, and racial mixing was significantly more common. Again, it's about respect. Even if it's not really a concious thing.

Cha Hae In: A small introspective on her character (+Goto Ryuji)

Gotta love how her entire character in the game is just "Imma be the very best and no one can stop me" and I love her for that.

On another note she does give me a lot of "Main Character" vibes due to that attitude and the power she displays. Sure she technically got lucky with her power but she still wants to be at the very top of her team by more than just luck alone. As we see with how she has been diligently training with Song Chi Yul despite being an S rank, and she knows her weaknesses very well despite Chi Yul praising her as her student (that she has a long way to go). She is ambitious in her goals and no matter what she gets she will not discard it any way. She is also willing to sacrifice her pain if it means getting what she wants as seen inside the dossiers themselves:

In dossiers 1 and 2 they also tell about how her whole life she had been walking on eggshells and her reputation was always on the constant brink between bad and good, so I could guess that is why (plus her smell problem) we never really saw her smiling outside of the people she was close too (Jin Woo and Chi Yul). The light novel also hints that with Jin Woo she also finally founded some relaxation in her life which only adds on more to the theory that she only cared more about winning, or in her case hunting, than she did about actually living a comfortable life. Probably the only way she could find happiness was by winning.

Her parents, if she had any (most of the dossiers just say 'adults around her') had pressured her to put herself in the spotlight, and she does seem to have at least some spine to reject that at her young age, however it didnt mean that she was able to overcome all of that. The photo above said she still remained strong despite all the anonymous flase rumors spread about her, all the pressure from the adults and the stains from anti-fans on her achivements, but her achievements still dissappeared and she felt resentful about that day for a long time.

Right now as an S rank she does look a lot more capable to stand up for herself rather than simply ignoring the counts and moving on, heck she even values herself to an extent seeing that she tends to confront her guild master about the shares and even bussiness men know her worth would go up much higher than the other guilds if she were to set up a guild on her own:

The mention of being inspired by the other atheletes is also something really cool since it does add well with what her main goal, apart from passion, is in her life and that is, as mentioned in the twitter posts, to achieve victory, to be the first.

And this is what makes it all the better for me to say that, she acts a lot like Goto Ryuji.

No, I didnt expect that either and yes im being legit, both of them share a lot of common trains the more we get to find out about theirselves.

For starters: Its that driving ambition to do what they are good at and excell that makes them such a strong force of power in their own respective countries. Just as Hae-In had been ambitious to persue swordsmanship and become the strongest S rank in South Korea, Goto had done the same thing by assosiating himself with the Japanese Hunters Assosiation and gaining the rest of his powerhouse with the other 10 S ranks that he admitted to his guild. He got to be the founder of the second largest guild in Asia while she got to be famous despite being in the Shadow of Choi Jong In (honestly I might even go far enough to say she was the reason Choi Jong In had been nicknamed the ultimate weapon, since he held the strongest S rank in his arsenal.) But still strong enough to decapitate the S rank Queen, yes even with the help of her own team and the japanese but that is still quite a feat considering the last 3 jeju island raids.

None of them tend to be the strongest overall, bc National Hunters exist ofc, but that doesnt stop them to aim higher. Hae-In we can see her aspiration to become first right in the dossiers, where as Goto had more ambition in wanting to be the king, and basically become the best despite the fact that there would be stronger hunters out there.

Both of them also seem to never back down even against powerful threats like the Ant King. Its kinda funny how it tends to be that Goto is the only one called cocky for this because, 1 he died, and 2 he was more of a villain instead of the female lead like Hae-In, yet when she wanted to fight shadow Beru she wasn't laughed about it for doing it. Sure Jin Woo was there to stop it, but that didnt meant anything still when she knew, first hand, she could have been defeted by Beru nonetheless (and she also didnt know that Beru would be less stronger than the Ant King as extracted shadows tend to be weaker), she actively chose to fight Beru for her own gains, yes far better gains than Goto's yet that doesnt ignore the fact that their attitudes had been the same when facing that giant monster. Pretty sure Goto would have also tried to fight Beru again in order to prove his strenght (but Beru is best girl for a reason, he wont fall under anyone unless its his master.) Had he lived.

There are more physical traits, like both of them being sword masters and having a more profesional stoic attitude towards their personality than others— but i did just wanna draw out those two main characteristics of theirs that literally just passed through my head as I was re reading the novel. The smaller differences would be their reason for their ambitions, like with Goto betraying the S ranks for power and prestige, whereas Hae-In does everything for her own power to protect those around her, i.e why she always looks out for the dungeon boss and takes patrols even on her lunch, why she is also very keen in finding out more about the new S rank who doesnt smell, and why she never really kept a lot of secrets to her, she was never going to hide anyways because her main priority at that point in being an S rank was helping people, and being the most powerful just meant she could protect them even better.

Still, it does seem funny that the ones that share a lot of similar traits with each other are: The female lead of SL, and the literal most hated character (by the author) of SL.

Gotta love that for them, gotta love it even more how Hae-In was acknowledged by Goto, which does make me want to explore their dynamic a bit. Would Goto have offered her to join the guild? Would Hae In have acted more like Goto if she had been more upfront towards the spotlight? Would they have bonded over their share hatred against the Ant King? Them batteling by pure measure of swordmanship skill alone would have been fairly interesting too.

what are your thoughts on luz insisting on calling philip 'belos'? as a trans person it felt like a weird decision cause he specifically asked to be called philip. what makes it worse is he is depicted as an evil monster/irredeemable for being so "two-faced" which is not great when he says something that most definitely does not sound cis

So first I just want to throw out that despite the fact that I'm pushing myself more and more to be inclusive, transgender identity and characters is one of those things I'm not comfortable doing myself. I still argue with myself about a joke with Daina in Rich Witch that has spoiler explanations/justifications. It's not because I'm anti-trans either. Trans rights are human rights. Period. But like… There's a reason Juro Rigged Pets, literally started the day I chose to stop watching TOH or close to that, is a converted fic because I want to use the community as a soundboard for not fucking up with my first enby character because Luz is non-binary in that one.

And if you're going "Wait, why are you okay with writing sapphics then?" Well, my personal reasoning is that I see love as love and that that emotion is fairly universal, even if the expression is going to change due to gender. There is still an emotional in for me to write them, I've been exposed to a LOT more sapphic emotions and talking than I have anything about trans identity and in general I just like writing and hanging out with girls more. Not even from a "Hurr hurr, I'm a straight white dude" perspective but more from a "I like that these people seem to be capable of being more mature, emotional and honest than a lot of the guys my age seem to be." I literally spent lunch most of the time in High School with only girls around me. I just don't know if I have a comfortable, emotional in when it comes to gender identity. While identity is universal, questioning one's gender and how people treat you about it is not. It's just not the same from my perception as a feeling like love. Is that maybe small minded me? Maybe. I don't know. Sometimes I feel like the best I can do in a situation is admit my own ignorance and hope I learn to do better in the future. My ears are always open though to try and learn and understand better.

I say all of this because… Well I don't think I have a lot to say about your ask. I mostly agree. It's not meant to have any active malice to it even if it's a dick move by Luz. If we're charitable, it's meant to be reinforcing the point Luz makes in that scene about Belos wanting to be called a human name when he has clearly thrown away his humanity for his goals.

Which… I don't like in general. Yes, he is monstrous and has magic but it's really the only time they make the case and Belos still identifies as human more than he identifies as magical. If they were willing to interrogate it more, it'd be a cool recognition of the use of religion and the like to say you have noble goals while being the literal worst person ever but it's much more about Belos being a literal monster than his inner monstrosity in that moment. Like so much with Belos, it's an interesting idea obviously on the writer's mind but not done anything with because they won't dedicate the effort to it.

If we take it less charitably and look at Luz's character as a whole… Why should Luz care about other people's identities? Her claims of caring about other weirdos and the like never come out to anything. I've talked about before how Yesterday's Lie plus the pilot kind of implies that Luz actively chose never to make friends with nerds because they weren't special enough. That Willow and Gus only meet her requirements because they have magic.

Luz doesn't see Belos as meeting those requirements so why would she care about basic rights such as being given the name you desire? I think this is too mean of a take. I don't know if I personally agree with it but it is the unintentional effect that one can take from it just like how you feel awkward about the dead name being used at all when a preference is shown.

It's like if someone calls me Mikey. I don't like it. Someone pointed out to me that it's like a dog's name when I was a kid and ever since I've HATED being called that. Mike is fine but don't call me Mikey. If someone does, I know they don't give a shit about me and so I shouldn't give a shit about them and we better split our separate ways. Same goes for the assholes who have befriended my brother and called me shit like Chris 2 or Chris' Brother. Alright asshole, I see how little I matter so I'm just going to go now.

Hell, I gained a little bit of an identity issue with my brother when we were both in JROTC because a lot of people go by last names in that program. You have a twin, you end up getting called the same thing. Equated to each other. Etc. like that. Fun times.

But like Luz disrespecting Belos, I didn't take it as disrespectful until people started thinking I could be my brother's wrangler or that I should be matching my brother's athletic accomplishments. And that's what I feel about with Luz denying Belos the courtesy. It's kept at just the functional level of "You're the villain and this is the name you used to rise to power so I will not let you forget that," then seeming to be active malice about a person's identity and how they wish to be called.

Could it have been cut to be more comfortable to those who care deeply about dead names, identity, etc. like that? Yes. Could I imagine people with those same issues also overlooking it because at worst it's a microaggression as presented and the show is at least mostly respectful to people's identities? Also yes. So I don't really know which way to lean on it.

I wish I did. I wish I felt more comfortable with the subject. Frankly I'm paranoid about my personal stories here to give context to my perspective on these matters still being tasteless. I try not to let stuff like this stop me from giving my thoughts but…

Well, I want to be respectful. Maybe even more respectful than Luz is to others, depending on how you want to turn the globe of her character. Edit: I do want to mention that I actually have a fanfic where Luz is non-binary. I'm actually proud of how much that story will theoretically touch on identity and change frankly. At the time I also thought I had a Discord who would help me make sure to do it right/convinced me to give it a shot and didn't realize that enby people are considered on the trans spectrum. It's called Joro Rigged Pets. Like Crises Girlfriends, I plan to convert it someday after I finish it first as fanfiction. Antumbra assassin and cleaner who was one of the many contract children that was paid to the organization (totally not slavery btw) by his parents to settle a debt. He isn’t unique by all means Antumbra wise, but he is recognized as one of its most efficient assassins

At the age of 12 he was hired by the Slaughter family to be the bodyguard of Vincent. At the time being two mutant closeted trans children was extremely rough, so the two confided in each other. Vince more or less taught him how to be an actual person and not just a killing machine

OTHER FACTS THATRE NOT HISTORY- he is a romantic at heart and treats Vincent all lady like when they go on those weird totally-not-dates

Basically an old work friend of Carmine when they both worked for the Soviet Union. While Carmine was blackmailed into working for them Tugarin at the time was a fully fledged Russian patriot who believed in Soviet supremacy

I mean there could be other reasons I'm just not aware of what it might be. It's honestly been something thats been bugging me for a lil while but I've been unable to speak about it freely due to not really having anyone to discuss it with.

to be fair I understand, it might've been in the sense that they were about to say something negative about ateez so they wanted to establish that they were a fan before someone accused them of being an anti/a hater

I've done that before, I've said "I love ateez but I didn't like Jongho's kingdom highnote" because in kpop if you critique/say something negative about a group people will assume you're just a hater, so sometimes people will say stuff to show that they're a fan making a genuine critique and not just another hater

and again I get the person, if you want to consume media from someone you like and that person is constantly doing something you don't like it gets to be annoying, yk? Like if ateez were constantly dancing or covering blackpink songs I'd be upset because I'd want to support them and watch their content but I wouldn't do it in that case because I don't like the group they're constantly doing content of, you know??

no matter how awesome some events are, how great some servants and staff are, how nice chaldea's kitchen is and how insightful it is to be in a place that amasses such a vast variety of viewpoints from so many countries and eras; i would not want to be in guda's position in a MILLION LIFETIMES 😭 not cuz it sucks or anything, just because the job has so much pressure and so many duties that i would definitely fall apart underneath its weight.

perservering throughout the odds, no matter how bleak they look; doing one's best to keep one's head above water despite the loss, danger, violence and difficulty they endure on the quest of fgo? that is a real strength of guda. they push thru shit even if they're hurting inside. who knows, unlike them who wholeheartedly sticks through until the end, maybe i would want to kick chaldea down and escape, or withdraw away to GET A BREAK permanently!!! and never look back.

ngl though i would not be able to do that. its not easy to remain oneself through such pain. i would definitely give into rage and anger at the situation, and would probably even lose any desire to continue moving forwards for the sake of chaldea's goals. no lie the anxiety would bitch slap me if i was in a situation like guda's!!!

and then the servants. dont get me wrong, they're AWESOME. but how guda is able to mesh with almost all of them, pinpointing their needs, tending to them in interludes and really doing their best for so many of them at once is a special quality like no other!! that level of social skill is not easy at all.

but that is not a skill for everyone and that's totally fine!!! in my case, just the thought of trying to balance my needs with so many others leaves me feeling grumpy. i like the servants, but i know there would be some that I'd have mutual disagreements with, some id avoid, some who would want to fight me over our differences and stuff. and honestly? i would wanna leave. for a long time. 🤣🤣🤣 all that socialisation would burn me out to hell. and as some servants come with some very high level demands, guda has not got much alone time. idc if servants are like "MASTER WTF U DOING LETS FIGHT" whilst im having me time, id be polite to them but not fight at all. sorry but i need the me time.

even if i got the guda "we love u" treatment, chaldea's high pressure lifestyle would result in me having breakdowns and isolating away so then i can find a good place to cry and not have to be happy or cheerful! more like, being the last master just sounds like a hassle, and a tortuous nightmare so no thank you. i will put myself before the world, even if my servants hate me for it or the mages destroy me for it. the anti-master is who id be

if i was in guda's position, even if the world would hate me, label me a "coward" and scorn me for giving up, i'd do it. even if servants are disappointed that im not some warrior with a steel will, oh well. id either have to leave or completely detach myself emotionally from the whole situation lol

i try my BEST not to let fandom get in my way of how i view ships bc i always see ships in a non canonical way. so if you want you can fold a ship into whatever way you want whether its aus, fix it fics, or whatever. i especially try not to let the popularity of a ship get in the way of how much i like a ship, im very fond of rarepairs and crackships but i dont consider myself someone who cant bring themselves to like popular ships or even brags about liking.. ANYTHING that isnt mainstream

but there comes a POINT where when ALL of the content you see for a character youre fond of is ABOUT A SINGLE SHIP that you start hating the ship and maybe even the other character involved. it hurts even more when its a ship you fell out of love with.

yes, im talking soudam AGAIN bc kazuichi has rotted my brain so badly that i feel like i cant even go a single day without thinking of him, AND I BARELY EVEN INTERACT W/ THE DR FANDOM ANYMORE. one of my ocs was just a genderbent au i made of him that looked distinct enough i just took it and ran. thats how bad it is. (tbh i do just like the color pink and... sharp.. teeth.. so thats probably why. hes pathetic too which just makes it x2 as good)

look, i dont think that ppl who ship soudam are inherently bad ppl. i dont really care about what ppl ship as long as theyre 1) not shipping real ppl and 2) not shoving it in other peoples faces. and i dont see any soudam shippers directly doing that. i was a soudam shipper, and honestly, i can see why ppl ship it. its an interesting dynamic.

bbbutt.. i dont ship it!  i personally dont care for it anymore, or even just general dr stuff. i should probably get into dr stuff more sense i feel like other than skullgirls and cookie run, im a bit lost when it comes to fandoms nowadays. but i still really like kazuichi and, by extension, sonia and their ship sounia. so every now and then i look for content abt them whether its for comfort or horniness, or just bc i want to. and a big theme i see is soudam. everywhere. its not unbareable especially on a site like tumblr where i can block certain tags and words. but even with that blocking, soudam can still clog it up meaning its harder for me to find content i like.

its even worse when some of that content is intentionally made to spam tags. an example would be what happened on instagram a while back, im not sure if that many other people noticed it, where ppl would spam dr ship tags with things such as “hey ur ship sucks xoxo”, feet, and in the worst case scenario, gore and self harm.

its even worse (take a sip everytime i say that) when you bring in stuff like antis and proshippers which, IS A CAN OF WORMS I DO NOT WANT TO GO INTO. i dont use either label, i hate antis but i really fucking hate proshippers. which is why i dont like ppl labeling all sounia shippers as proshippers because.. no. no i am not. you cant dictate what side someone is on in a silly shipping war based of a single thing they like. i know damn well there are sounia shippers who are proship, anti, somewhere in the middle, and the same can be said abt soudam shippers. which is why i hate how soudam shippers are seen as morally good and sounia shippers are seen as gross. i just wanna see some pathetic lil guy try and fail to woo a girl, i dont wanna argue about what ship is superior. neither are illegal, so they are both equal.  

in conclusion; there are and will be a lot of soudam shippers. i dont care. i just want to be left alone, but soudam is hard to ignore. dont try to call any soudam shippers poopyheads, lets all just try to be nice and respect one another. sorry if this seems like a hate rant, because it is. i am frustrated. didnt mean for this to become an 8 paragraph essay, but thats just what happened.

so I've been watching casualty since season 36 and have only seen clips of earlier seasons, and im considering watching some of holby City but the thought of watching from the start is honestly kind of daunting, so is there a season you'd recommend starting from? i didn't struggle with missing people's previous storylines on casualty because i just looked at the wiki if i really wanted to know so that isn't an issue. thanks!

First off, I will say that my opinions on this are going to be kind of biased, because I haven't seen the whole show. The vast majority of Holby I've seen is from series 13 onwards, I've seen some from series 11 and 12, and a few episodes from series 8, 9, and 10. My opinions are also going to be biased in that I tend to recommend seasons/episodes to people based on what I think of how Henrik Hanssen is portrayed in them, because he's my favourite character by far. So, yeah.

I generally tell people to start with series 15! It's my favourite season, and I think it would be a strong starting point. Plus, the Drama channel will probably start airing it in a couple weeks - because they're nearly done re-running series 14 now - at which point series 15 will likely all be easily accessible on UKTV Play (again, going by what they did with series 14). So if you ask me, for anyone wanting to get into Holby, right about now is a great time! 🙂

Also, series 15 is where I think Henrik's character is at its best. At that point, he's grown from the more antagonistic character of his first 2 seasons into more of an anti-hero, and that's the type of character I think he works best as. Plus, there's the beautiful episode ("Hanssen/Hemingway") about his past - for which they actually filmed in Sweden!! It's a good season for pretty much everyone though, other characters I love get great storylines too (such as Antoine Malick, Gemma Wilde, and Sacha Levy - and that's only a few!), so it's not just because of Henrik that I recommend it.

However, series 14 itself is one I'd consider suggesting as a starting point as well, especially now because I think it's important to see the original storyline between Henrik and his former mentee Sahira Shah - particularly if you plan on watching through to the final 2 seasons (basically, the show tried to retcon their history later in a way that strongly villainised Sahira which I really didn't like because in the original story it was Henrik that was very controlling and bullying to her). In theory I think starting with series 13 could also work for many of the same reasons as series 14, but practically speaking, S14 would be easier because of the aforementioned Drama reruns.

Also, if you start with series 14, you'd get to see a while of the show before Jonny Maconie arrives and starts his relationship with Jac - whereas he's there throughout series 15. Jonny as a character was basically the prototype for Faith Cadogan IMO, in the sense of being a character the show seems to love, who yet constantly does awful things and is horrible to people and just... gets away with it and is still framed as a nice person everyone would want to be friends with. 🙃 (To some extent similar things happen with Henrik in later seasons, but this isn't the case with S14 or S15.)

As a Henrik fan I almost want to say "stop after series 20 episode 47", because that's where his character arc ends for all intents and purposes IMHO. (...It's also where his romantic storyline with John Gaskell ends. Again, I'm a biased Johnrik fan.) But there's definitely stuff after that that's worth seeing, namely the series 21 ep "The Perfect Storm" (Henrik isn't in it, it's just a brilliant episode for Jac), and depending on which characters you find yourself liking, you might want to see things through to the end anyway. (I personally hate the second half of series 22, and basically all of series 23, but others' opinions may vary!)

So, yeah, I'd say start with either series 14 or series 15 for now (plenty of the older stuff is worth seeing too, but S14 and S15 are both good and easy starting points), and stop whenever you like. :)

so i bought and have now recived my anti planner, and while i imagine a bunch of the tools wont do anything- im hoping something helps. And ill try to speak up if anything does.

For some context i suppose if you dont regularly read my depressed rants, i was diagnosised autistic in 2020 but had been in therapy on and off since 2010 for anxiety and depression. I found a majority of resources not helpful or treading over ground ive already done years into- when I started researching 'okay so im autistic what the fuck do i do now, how do i get better'.

(I just keep ranting how shit doesnt seem to want to work for me below)

Most likely cause of all the years ive done work on myself, i am very self aware and quite good at communicating how im feeling. But found that none of the tools I learned helped long term or even enough to better my quality of life(now knowing this was because all those tools help people without a neuro disability, they simply were never going to work).

I've also found that a lot of the resources out there, include this book, are catered towards those with adhd, which while having a lot of simularities to autism- they are not the same. And though I had previously thought i was adhd, im like pretty sure this isnt the case(like in terms of a duo adhd n autism diag). So a lot of the stuff i end up finding /also/ doesn't work.

Though i cant reaally tell if its due to the autism or depression. A good example is the 'trick your brain' angle i see abundantly. To do things like 'set a timer to create a deadline or force panic' or similar time constrainted things simply dont work. I can feel incredible stress to complete something from a deadline or disappointed friend or angry manager and it do little to nothing to motivate me to do the actual thing. If i dont want to do something(or even if i want to do something but my brain for whatever reason doesnt let me), it doesnt happen- concequnce be damned.

I can break tasks into smaller chunks for days, but if i cant get up or move my arm to start said small task then it doesnt really matter does it? The one thing i can do is organize lol, but its the one thing that i see the most as advice- which is totally understandable as its not something taught so a majority would lack the skill. I was really lucky to seek help when i did and to then get actually good advice. It's probs been the only moment where help and support did actually help my quality of life.

Most likely I wont see any improvement in my life till I either go back therapy(actually find someone who can help someone like me, probs needs to be on meds again too) or can afford to create an environment thats supportive of my needs...or more than likely a combo of the two lol. Neither of which i see happening as both need money and i cant work nor get much from my disability program and cant work enough on online stuff to make that my income.

As an aside, i do know that many if not most, have it worse than i do. And i often feel that i simply cant complain about my own situation because im have a loving family that supports me as much as they can, im no where near homelessness, im not bipoc or a trans person, i could technically work but i would only be able to just work(aka id have to give up doing what i ant for a living and went to school for and actually am passionate about, and honestly typical work stresses and sucks so much energy out of me ugh id probs just burn out again n quit). I dont feel i can ask for money or support when there are others i feel need it way more than i do.

And i absolutely hate that what i have isnt enough, and that fact is also why i feel i cant vent. Srry this kinda went off the deep end.
