i know the ask you answered about what the siblings call each other was quite a while back, but i wanted to ask! what does kashima call wakamatsu? the translation is "young wakamatsu" iirc, is it similar to how all might in my hero academia calls his students?

Very late to answering this but yes Kashima refers to Wakamatsu as "Wakamatsu-shounen" aka "Young [Man] Wakamatsu", and yes it's the same way as how All Might refers to his students ahah

Kashima's name calling is very entertaining, I still love her Hori-chan-senpais and how Seo and even Ryousuke does the same dkfjhskjdhk (like in the latest chapter)

9 Anime to Watch When You Want to Feel Like 👇🏾

Looking to sate that lovey, dovey, sweet tooth of yours or maybe you just want a saccharine palate cleanser, below are a few short series/movies to check out for casual viewing. While these are mostly the kind of shows that give you the anxious butterflies wondering will they or won't they (they will), I tried to include something for everyone though this is a list deserving of several installments. Either way, the genre de jour is romance✨ even if it does come with a side of laughter.

HoriMiya - (series)

Filed under: "It's popular because it's good", "Opposites attract", "Sunny x Grumpy", "Love Triangle" (but less so- read the manga though), "Unrequited love", high school

Horimiya is a funny comfort watch and palette cleanser because, within the ensemble cast, you see many different types of relationships play out which I didn't include above. I think what adds to this series is the fact that all of the MC's are very in their heads about everything for one reason or another so you will find someone you can relate to. The beauty of this story is knowing that one small thing can ultimately lead to something great and that everyone grapples with coming into their own, one way or another. So, there's a bit of angst in line with a coming of age story but, considering the title is a portmanteau of the two main characters, you know things work out in the end.

Sasaki and Miyano - (series + OVA)

This is another funny comfort watch for me that is compounded by the fact that the build up and consideration this story takes is so. heartwarming. I would loosely say delinquent adjacent Sasaki falls in love with fudanshi Miyano and spends the whole series being a precious idiot in love. At an all boys' school, Miyano tends to find BL scenarios everywhere, except when it comes to he and Sasaki.

Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku - (series)

I'm not going to weigh in on whether there's merit in MC Momose's assumption that being an otaku is relationship suicide. In fact, she swears she'll get it right this time by burying that side of herself down when she starts a new job. But she soon finds she doesn't have to pretend when she bumps into childhood friend Nifuji. While she tries her best to border on "normie", she finds acceptance and space to let her nerd flag fly along with another couple at her office that cosplay as normal people during their 9-5. Relatable.

Kase-san and Morning Glories (OVA's)

So this is tricky as you can really only watch one of the OVA's, wherein they are already in a relationship. Kase and Yamada find themselves excitedly exploring their new relationship while also offsetting the fact that they really don't have much in common. The story is sweet and rather honest about intimacy when it comes to things like your significant other seeing you naked or how we tend to project our uncertainty onto others even in an established relationship. Even though there are a lot of things pulling them apart or reasons why they may be better suited for others, they make a concerted effort to choose and stick with one another.

I can't tell if this is good or if I'm just a casualty of Jonah Scott's Akihiko. It's hard trying to make it in a band. Even if you're talented, there could always be someone out there just a little better than you are. Same could be said about love, I guess. Especially in this series. It glosses over answering questions about some of the more series issues the main characters are facing but ultimately ties things up, even if the bow is shitty (I'm looking at you, movie). I think, without context of the manga, including the movie on the rec list makes it problematic so, dear reader, maybe just stop with the series.

MY Love STORY!! (series)

There are several points during this series where I was waiting for the other shoe to drop because Takeo and Rinko are simply so happy and innocent together. There are also several points where I expected this to turn into a BL because of Makoto. Ultimately, I'm glad Takeo is surrounded by the love he deserves because he's a sweet, baby angel.

More than a Married Couple, but Not Lovers (series)

This series hasn't finished airing but I'm calling it now. The "get married and settle down" propaganda these days is crazy and that's likely how this little ecchi based on the premise of needing to simulate married life in order to graduate came to be. Additionally, at least one inclusion had to be the very specific romance genre wherein a pining but melba toast dude catches the interest of people extremely out of his league. But things aren't always what they seem, here, especially in the case of gyaru Akari Watanabe.

My Senpai is Annoying (series)

Technically, this show is more of a slice of life when it comes to Futaba Igarashi but I included it anyway because who wouldn't ultimately swoon for Harumi Takeda? Like, we get it, girl, that giant himbo with his old school chivalry and novice comprehension of technology would wear anyone down. TBH, writing that line made me want to rewatch this series again. This is a slightly smaller ensemble but ultimately still working through some funny relationship hiccups. I'm not calling it a slow burn. Reframe your expectations for a slice of life, but it has those awkward bits where characters have burgeoning and unavoidable emotions hence its inclusion.

TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You (series)

I lowkey had mixed feelings about this series but included it because, when I ship characters, this is very much what I mean. Just the overwhelmingly wholesome and awkward way two people create a life for themselves even if the milestones are a bit out of order. Additionally, while there's usually an element of boring person not deserving of other person and angst therein, this series highlights ways in which both main characters are beloved so it's literally just the icing of "we're here, we know we're in love, now what?".

Meanwhile, AFO realizes he’s losing time as soon as All Might isn’t directly in front of him. AFO is a baby without object permanence, confirmed. In his head, AFO is thinking of all the heroes he and TomurAFO have fought, and it’s making him angry. UH OH. AFO FEELS SOMETHING.

Haha, Bakugo gets in AFO’s face and shouts that he, the ultimate angry foul-mouthed gremlin child, is the final boss. He’s once again harnessing his misunderstood villain-like energy and using it for good, helping Izuku stay focused on Tomura.

If AFO’s opening move is a haphazard ranged attack, and All Might’s is a “mad charge, no dodging,” then Bakugo definitely follows All Might and leads with up close, in-your-face explosions. Who says he can’t win facing the big bad guy head-on????

It feels like a gag chapter mostly

Bakugou coughing blood on the rooftop, spooking All Might is recall to the Ch 1 All Might - Deku rooftop scene

I was sure Edgeshot won't die, so not surprised by Worm-Edgeshot there. But man, Hori really cheapened his sacrifice. This poor m%therfucker doesn't even save Bakugou, because apparently his sweatdrop does the work, so he just jumped in there and panick-sewed him without a plan while ShigAFO was hacking away the rest of the team. Some No 4 hero that is. Give Mirio the spot. At least he can twerk usefully.

It generally makes me feel queasy how All Might's and Bakugou's lives are worth every sacrifice, while others like Edgeshot are just expandable extras apparently. Not that I care about Edgeshot, but just as the framing of the story - it is sickening. Very realistic too. All Might losing his power is agonizing, but Edgeshot losing his entire body and turning into a worm is apparently only deserves a "thanks, senpai."

Again with the reactions. Ngl, having Can't-you-see-kid wonder about Bakugou's name when he didn't wonder about Shouto's kind of sucks. That dude belongs to the Todoroki storyline mostly, but well, I guess, nobody cares about Shouto in-universe other than the 3 Magesaki kids

There goes my Kaminari restarts Bakugou's heart theory. I'm so sad that apparently Kaminari and Monoma had no role. Where are they even? It would have felt like a better emotional pay-off to me - especially if Kaminari saw Bakugou's body. My boy deserves a moment too... 😭

Mineta getting his own panel vs Mt Lady, Machia and Shinsou sharing one. No comment. In retrospect, Hori should have given Mineta the "Origin chapter" because Shouto obviously has no role in the main plot.

I was waiting so much for Bakugou's hero name reveal to All Might, but I guess it was off-screened. At least the punch line is AM saying Bakugou's hero name correctly and Bakugou smiling like a kid is cute (that's my favourite moment).

I hope fucking AFO didn't revert into a kindergartener, because, fuck, I really don't want to watch Bakugou slap around a kid.

This chapter has been bugging the shit out of me so I’m gonna rant about it here cuz that’s exactly what this account is for.

1) I feel like it would’ve been a lot more humane if they used Eri’s quirk after the war. It would’ve been interesting to see deku struggle for a few weeks or months while Eri trains to be able to rewind more precisely so that she can be helpful like she wants without mutilating herself. If you’re gonna use a child for nothing more than furthering plot, at least do it in a way that respects her. I get that she wants to be all heroic but cutting off a piece of yourself to save someone shouldn’t be celebrated so quickly. It reminds me back in October when edgeshot came out of Katsuki and all he got was a “thanks senpai.” Using side characters as pawns gets really old really fast.

2) same sentiment with the whole shiragiri thing. The impact this character has had Aizawa as one of the main characters, shouldn’t just be brushed over like it was. It felt like a “hey bro, nice to see you again, mind helping us out?” And then that’s it… there’s no “I’m glad you’re still kind of you” or anything. I hope they go back over that after the war and show more actual emotion.

3) I don’t like the fact that some of class a is showing up so soon. Not so soon but like… idk.

The whole war has been progressively getting more serious and dark and to be suddenly hit with “yeah sorry for that jumpscare of losing your arms like 30 seconds ago, have them back. Also here’s some of your injured classmates cuz ‘their bodies moved on their own’! Callbacks, right?”

Idk if I’m just judging too soon but I really hope this doesn’t turn into a “power of friendship” situation. This needs to be an ‘all or nothing’ thing for it to make sense. If Shoji and Koda are fighting AFO now, spinner should be on mt Fuji too. Having just class a fight AFO feels so cheap and basic and Hori has proved that he’s not a basic bitch so I’m hoping if all of class a shows up, all of their respective villains show up too. If Todoroki shows up, Endeavor and Dabi need to be there too. If Uraraka shows up, Tsu and Toga should be there too.

Taking the attention off the side characters own arcs to support the mc without conclusions or at least updates to their own stories is literally just bad writing and I hope it doesn’t end up like that. Like I said, I think I’m just judging too soon so hopefully this doesn’t go in the direction I feel like it’s going. So far it’s having an Avengers: Endgame esc feel but it feels it’s heading in the direction of everyone vs just Thanos instead of everyone vs Thanos’ brainwashed followers.

Idk if this post made sense, I’m at a nail salon so I’m typing fast and honestly I’m just upset about how disappointing this chapter was so this really was just an incoherent rant.
