So, I kind of did a small tier list on how good Rirune's shapeshifting ability is out of curiosity, like... I always thought "Yeah he should be familiar with Gensokyo, so this should be simple"
... so after making this, I realized... I was wrong, actually.
Small keynotes and tl;dr:
Assume that Rirune can copy everyone in anatomy perfectly. What this tier list mostly reflects on is personality, and how much he can replicate their abilities via illusions.
1:1 means 'Rirune can shapeshift into this person and completely fool most people, even replicating their spell cards through illusions. Unless you are good friends with them, you WILL be fooled.'.
Very good is similar to 1:1, but there will be something huge which would call him out, which is mostly their abilities. (Youmu with her skill with the blade, Ran with her gaps, Chen with her brash nature, Satori with her mind reading, etc)
Unlike OG Eri, Rirune pretty much lost his innocence, so he can't impersonate fairies or innocent people as well anymore.
He can copy magic via illusions. He cannot copy strength.
Bonus Modern Eri Tier list below
Tumblr media
Small keynotes and tl;dr:
Shapeshifting ability is given to him by Goddess Reimu @warriorsofcrimsonrealms , so naturally, a Reimu form would be the highest affinity of ease to turn into.
ALL his forms are able to be caught by beast youkai. His scent is the same throughout all forms.
Unlike Rirune, Eri requires the outfit of the person he's impersonating because he can't cast an illusion on his clothes.
Eri is better in acting as fairies than Rirune is.
Tumblr media
tl;dr: He's not that good outside shitposting, but honestly? That's okay! He's not full-time doing this, after all! He prefers cosplaying too, unless he HAS to change his anatomy! (Seiga, Keine, Flandre)

I keep seeing videos online being like "back in my day we wanted toys and things that were popular and people around us also wanted for Christmas but now my kid wants trendy things and an Iphone 15"
and ive seen it phrased so many times that their idk 8 year old is like "I need the iPhone 15 for Christmas and I'm you bought me the iPhone 14 for my birthday but now that's old and crusty" and acting like wow my kid is so spoilt and bratty kids these days suck like - YOU ARE TJE ONE WHO BOUGHT A KID THE IPHONE 14 FOR THEIR BIRTHDAY?! THEY'RE 8. YOURE DOING THIS!
They act like it's the kids fault when really they're growing up with access to things they really oughtened to, and some of the other things are just "my friend thinks it's cool and the rich kids at school have it so I want it" like you millenia parent didn't do the exact same thing just with other things. I hate that they're making fun of the kids due to their parenting choices.

things i randomly remembered part i don't even know anymore:
you know how alex claremont-diaz used to keep lists of his classmates' strenghts and weaknesses when he was a child?
i say, as if alex is a real person lol.
during my last visit at my hometown in the summer, i found my fourth to sixth grade diary and decided to peek into my early youth's thoughts for the fun of it.
turns out that not only did i have a(n) (in)complete list of all my classmates' birthdays in alphabetical and date order, but also an annual list of all my best friends ranked (that's very shady and bad, not gonna lie, but i was just a kid, cut me some slack here), a list of the things i liked about this kid i (thought i) used to have a crush on- turned out to be the most severe platonic feelings ever, he was a good friend, i miss him- an informational list on taylor swift and some other musical artists i used to like back then (like ross lynch), plus the usual, still here, lists of stuff i have to do daily.
casey... i need answers.
thank you.

Preternatural abilities -- of the non-psychological variety -- afforded to the Walrider’s Host include, but are not limited to:
Enhanced Strength / Stamina: The inherent strength of the nanites comprising the physical aspect of the Walrider allows for a reinforced musculoskeletal system of its Host. Combined with similarly reinforced cardiovascular processes, the Host is capable of extreme physical strength and stamina beyond typical human capacity.
Shielding: A similar effect of the aforementioned musculoskeletal reinforcement. The nanites are essentially able to create internal armor that protects the Host from most any manner of damage -- though cosmetic or temporary damage may result from lack of anticipation / preparation for incoming threats. External shielding is also possible, and could possibly protect third parties from damage below a certain threshold.
Healing: Increased healing factor due to nanite presence in the bloodstream. The nanites can act as or bolster the activity of all three major types of blood cells to promote fast healing. Surface level wounds can be healed near instantaneously. Deeper or internal wounds require more time, but are still repaired at a miraculous rate. Third parties can benefit from the nanties acting as a temporary bandage / splint / etc. for injuries, but without the Host connection they will not heal outside the capabilities of their own body. Notably, the Host’s blood is thick and nearly black due to the replication and shedding of nanites.
Reduced Physiological Needs: As with just about every other bodily function, nanite-enhanced metabolic processes have all but rendered the need for things like food and sleep obsolete. However, increased but non-symbiotic Swarm activity -- i.e. when the Host is ‘fighting it’ -- has a tendency to spike these needs dramatically.
Telekinesis: External manifestation of the Swarm allows the Host to manipulate objects at a distance. Objects -- including people -- may be moved, thrown, destroyed, etc. Thus far this has largely been a destructive action. Maximum distance and size limits for objects is unknown.
Electrokinesis / Electronic Manipulation: Due to the electromagnetic nature of the nanites, the Walrider is able to manipulate electricity and electronics. Currents can be reduced or cut completely, and power surges can also be generated. Computers, phones, and similar devices can be hacked remotely. Such devices will often experience effects similar to magnet exposure in the presence of an ‘active’ Swarm -- memory corruption / deletion, screen distortion, etc. -- even if they aren’t the direct target of the nanites.
Levitation: A result of the Swarm’s ability to manifest externally in the same way that allows for telekinetic abilities. The Host’s body can float and move completely off the ground, limited only by his persistent fear of heights.
Note: the limitations of these abilities have not been well documented due to lack of testing, and general reluctance of the current Host to experiment. Side effects of overexertion in any capacity have included migraines, body aches, confusion and disorientation, extreme fatigue and hunger, and the drainage of dark and viscous blood from the nose / mouth / eyes. This is likely due to resistance in the Swarm-Host connection. A more harmonious symbiosis could potentially reduce negative side effects.

A lot of you on here feel waaay too comfortable admitting that you don't and refuse to listen to rap music, and I'm not loving the incredibly reductive takes on rap because the kendrick/drake beef has it on some of yall's radar for the first time in your life.
I'm not going to sugar coat it-- for americans especially, if you consider music a significant interest of yours but still feel the need to search for acceptable reasons to keep yourself ignorant of black music, or think of rap as a monolith of hate and violence and not equally as diverse as any other genre, or can only name nonblack rappers… you should be embarrassed of that. And your embarrassment should not keep you from being active about exposing yourself to unfamiliar art and broadening what you listen to.
'I don't understand what they're saying/they rap too quickly' I'm surprised by how much I keep seeing this-- speed is not a stylistic trademark of most rap music, & clearer diction as a performer is much more necessary in rap than other genres?? Statistically rap has a lower bpm (here's an example of one person's study) average than other genres. (of course these aren't all-encompassing, but you can look into this yourself using sites like bpmdatabase.com.) Do you really feel overwhelmed by speed listening to Kendrick or Biggie or Nas or 2Pac, or have you never actually listened to their songs?
'I have to look up the lyrics'-- so what? is it a bad thing to take an extra few seconds to engage with an artist's work? If you listen to lyrical music, do you care when it's the artists you listen to? Why does the thoughtful art consumption everyone talks about not also apply to black art?
'there is too much violence and misogyny and commercialism' this is not unique to rap, or true of all rap music. Artists exist that talk about other things, the way they exist in all genres. There is an entire wikipedia page listing alternative hip hop musicians and rappers if you consider seeking it out too much labor. Click one!
'i find it unrelatable'-- who cares? Being unable to engage with art you don't find wholly relatable is a deeply childish and self centered way to exist. You get on here reblogging feel good navel-gazey posts about the shared human experience and caring for one another, but a rapper talking about living with violence or poverty is stretching the limits of what you can imagine or empathize with too much for you to care about it? You don't find that embarrassing to admit to?
You don't have to love rap, you don't have to incorporate it into what you listen to every day, but a lot of you need to be aware you're parroting reagan era anti-rap (& antiblack) pearl-clutching talking points, and it's a very ugly look. It isn't racist if your favorite genre isn't rap, but you need to do some serious self reflection if you consider it inherently less artistic, intelligent or positive than 'whiter' genres when you don't actually listen to it. I am looking at you, people into other counterculture genres-- it's crazy how much I see this from self-professed punks and metalheads especially lmfao. If expression, counterculture art, anti-censorship in music and the right for raw and unfiltered music to exist matters to you as much as you say you do, you should care about rap's relationship to censorship & fight for its legitimacy just as much as what you listen to.

One of the people in one of the ERG’s I’m (nominally, being y’know, Not In Corporate and therefore Wildly Unavailable for 2 pm Meetings or After Work (an hour+ away from where I work without including the fact I get off half an hour later anyways) Drinks) in was complaining about having to make a (very small) text based dungeon crawler for a final he’s taking, and I’m going to be honest I don’t know what class he’s taking but he can’t be paying attention and therefore I don’t think he’s going to pass because he knew he was allowed to use an existing engine but he didn’t know what twine was

Hey All,
I've been away for some time, as we've been working really hard on something quite exciting:
let me present to you the world's first ever global ocean drainage basin map that shows all permanent and temporary water flows on the planet.
Tumblr media
This is quite big news, as far as I know this has never been done before. There are hundreds of hours of work in it (with the data + manual work as well) and it's quite a relief that they are all finished now.
But what is an ocean drainage basin map, I hear most of you asking? A couple of years ago I tried to find a map that shows which ocean does each of the world's rivers end up in. I was a bit surprised to see there is no map like that, so I just decided I'll make it myself - as usual :) Well, after realizing all the technical difficulties, I wasn't so surprised any more that it didn't exist. So yeah, it was quite a challenge but I am very happy with the result.
In addition to the global map I've created a set of 43 maps for different countries, states and continents, four versions for each: maps with white and black background, and a version for both with coloured oceans (aka polygons). Here's the global map with polygons:
Tumblr media
I know from experience that maps can be great conversation starters, and I aim to make maps that are visually striking and can effectively deliver a message. With these ocean drainage basin maps the most important part was to make them easily understandable, so after you have seen one, the others all become effortless to interpret as well. Let me know how I did, I really appreciate any and all kinds of feedback.
Here are a few more from the set, I hope you too learn something new from them. I certainly did, and I am a geographer.
Tumblr media
The greatest surprise with Europe is that its biggest river is all grey, as the Volga flows into the Caspian sea, therefore its basin counts as endorheic.
An endorheic basin is one which never reaches the ocean, mostly because it dries out in desert areas or ends up in lakes with no outflow. The biggest endorheic basin is the Caspian’s, but the area of the Great Basin in the US is also a good example of endorheic basins.
Tumblr media
I love how the green of the Atlantic Ocean tangles together in the middle.
Tumblr media
No, the dividing line is not at Cape Town, unfortunately.
Tumblr media
I know these two colours weren’t the best choice for colourblind people and I sincerely apologize for that. I’ve been planning to make colourblind-friendly versions of my maps for ages now – still not sure when I get there, but I want you to know that it’s just moved up on my todo-list. A lot further up.
Tumblr media
Minnesota is quite crazy with all that blue, right? Some other US states that are equally mind-blowing: North Dakota, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming. You can check them all out here.
Tumblr media
Yes, most of the Peruvian waters drain into the Atlantic Ocean. Here are the maps of Peru, if you want to take a closer look.
Tumblr media
Asia is amazingly colourful with lots of endorheic basins in the middle areas: deserts, the Himalayas and the Caspian sea are to blame. Also note how the Indonesian islands of Java and Sumatra are divided.
Tumblr media
I mentioned earlier that I also made white versions of all maps. Here’s Australia with its vast deserts. If you're wondering about the weird lines in the middle: that’s the Simpson desert with its famous parallel sand dunes.
Tumblr media
North America with white background and colourful oceans looks pretty neat, I think.
Tumblr media
Finally, I made the drainage basin maps of the individual oceans: The Atlantic, the Arctic, the Indian and the Pacific. The Arctic is my favourite one.
I really hope you like my new maps, and that they will become as popular as my river basin maps. Those have already helped dozens of environmental NGOs to illustrate their important messages all around the world. It would be nice if these maps too could find their purpose.
