Propaganda why Aang is insufferable:

He has some very bad ideas that the narrative never explores and gets rewarded by the narrative for bad behavior.

Mostly just the way he deals with his crush on Katara and kind of forces it on her. It’s honestly really shitty because she never truly reciprocated his feelings and had plenty of moments where she shows she’s just trying not to hurt his feelings with a straight up rejection, but ends up with him in the end just because that’s what he wanted.

Like we know what it looks like when Katara actually has a crush on someone, she wouldn’t let the situation like the war affect how she feels about demonstrating those feelings when she’s so in touch with them. Like how she was with Jet and Haru. I just wish the writing team did a better job of showing Katara developing feelings for Aang way better than they did lol.

Made a series that was otherwise reasonably tolerable impossible to watch. I hate that all the jokes written for his character target 8-year-olds exclusively. Also his little TV show keeps appearing on my dash no matter how many words I block and I hate it

Propaganda why Gregory is insufferable:

This boy is so poorly written, it hurts. In the gameplay, he just acts annoyed and pissed off the whole time. Then, in the endings, he becomes a whole other character who acts scared and sad, which does not match the previous hours of gameplay AT ALL

But that just annoyed me

What really made me hate him was the GGY and Robot Gregory stuff, because OH NO, Gregory could not just be a normal kid who got into this situation by chance, he has to be a robotic recreation of the Crying Child, despite not acting one bit like CC, or, according to the GGY story in the books, he's responsible for multiple murders and is Afton's/the Mimic's apprentice.

Just let this kid be fucking normal!

(Also, unlike a lot of people, I really enjoy what the Ruin DLC did to his character. And don't try to say that's still the mimic, the mimic recycles dialog from the main game. This Gregory uses completely unique dialog, and unless the mimic was able to form new words in his voice all of a sudden, that's still him. He had to make a tough decision, one life or over hundreds and I can respect that)

Suffers from being made into another one of Matpat's ""is actually a robot theory"". It is annoying as hell, especially if its canon. We do not need robot children theories in a game about possession, child murder and serial killers. Especially not dumb theories about him being a 'recreation' of someone with a completely different personality. It has completely ruined any enjoyment I had in that character because we're just going back to the Afton family again

Someone made a good point about how his personality seems to be reminiscent of a certain trend where a video game protagonist has to be snarky even though it would’ve worked better for the horror atmosphere if he was more scared because it would’ve made the player feel his fear. I recall people being surprised about his personality and expecting him to be more scared, and I assume the developers were just afraid of ppl calling Gregory “whiny”, but it still feels like a missed opportunity

I am trying to wean myself off Tiktok and back onto Tumblr because I was starting to highkey get addicted but one thing I saw very briefly on my fyp (I was scrolling through it super fast) was a family vlogger basically going "omg I have to make a 4th kid because tiktok wants that kind of content!!" and it was probably jokes + I sincerely hope it was jokes.

Except... That was kind of an issue with mommy vloggers on Youtube as well, wasn't it? I see people who post funny videos of their kids on Tiktok but their main content is sth else. I see people who post about their kids with certain disorders to raise awareness or to share how they help them. And whether you think the kid can consent to those is...not irrelevant, say, but more like, that's not the issue.

Mommy and family vloggers are, in my opinion, a special kind of evil and callousness. To view your family as nothing more than content, and to frame your children's lives or direct them to do certain things in the name of views and revenue, exposing embarrassing childhood experiences or key milestones in their development that should be kept personal... Like, how can you say you love your child when the message you send is your love extends as far as what content they can produce for you

so i think i am gathering that tumblrs response to everyone getting porn bots on their dashboards bc they follow tags and the bots have started liking the other bots posts leading tumblrs algorithm to think that they are popular and putting them on dashes they have made it so that instead of recent posts from the tags you follow showing up its just ones with lots of notes . for me personally this makes me want to just stop using the followed tags feature bc everything is posts ive already seen. i dont know why tumblr is seemingly consistently unable to do anything meaningful to reduce the amount of bots. im just a random guy and after seeing like three of those spam posts show up on my dash i was able to figure out what was happening.

Considering OP is yelling at ppl to leave them alone when questioned on specifics because a post that says “the grooming in spn fandom is insane” (specifically Wincest) was “not a callout” and only “a legitimate safety concern” about “a space is known for well you know”, they are not worth the time. If there was no one specific, why reblog a post specifically about the wincest fandom having insaneeee grooming? It wasn't "just in general." It's not a joke, yet this reply looks entirely unserious.

I am too old to keep seeing this type of shit go through the fandom at regular intervals, especially when it's so often a false accusation based on interpersonal drama. The only purpose this serves is riling up the dash. It's exhausting, and waters down the gravity of the accusation by making it a phrase that cries wolf.

I'm not even saying outright that the post is a LIE; just that it has seriously similar markers of past drama that was approximately 90% unaddressed purity culture biases about fiction, 9% interpersonal beef, and 1% actual concern for a human being who was an adult, but young. And it led to the utter gutting of fandom, loss of acquaintances, deletion of a glut of fic-- all due to smearing the reputation of a writer by using horrible UNTRUE AND INCENDIARY ACCUSATIONS.

Fixations in fandom are valid.

Yes they can be unhealthy, just like too much of anything in life can be unhealthy.

But just like in life, you can’t control other ppl and force them like/unlike things bc of your own preferences and fixations.

What bothers me so much about the whole ‘all bylers care about is byler argument’ is that while… yes. Who tf cares?

The whole point of the ‘will they’ ‘won’t they’ trope is that it’s known for engaging viewers more than most storylines are able to, and it also tends to keep fans engaged for long periods of time. And it’s because they’re literally designed to keep you guessing and anticipating what comes next.

If romance isn’t your thing, fine. If gay ppl on your screen isn’t your thing, whatever. It is what it is. It’s not like we want to spend our time fixating on the stuff you like either.

Regardless of whether or not you ship byler, that still doesn’t mean you have to be insufferably incapable from analyzing their scenes and the show in general whatsoever?

Thanks for sharing and confirming that my instincts were right. I always tend to trust my gut feelings about people but sometimes I wonder if I should. Well, once again, it seems that I, indeed, should. hello !! honestly i have also been in writing blocks a lot of times trying to figure out how exactly to write a story people will all love reading. and the honest truth to that is that not everyone will—which we all technically know. but it’s good to remind urself !! you will never write a reader that is applicable to everyone because that is impossible. every action or choice or dialogue or inner thought you give reader comes from an outcome that can always (and will always) vary from person to person and that means your reader will not fit everyone. but that’s okay. your writing will always reach an audience that does enjoy what you wrote bc it does touch base with them and i think the majority of people on here appreciate fics even when they’re not always relatable. i have LOVED stories on here where reader was very shy and introverted and that’s not rly me—but it was written well enough and had a plot that was engaging enough that it didn’t matter. because i loved exploring the story through that reader even if i didn’t believe i was reader. and there are a few annoying ppl such as that op that say discouraging things like that but i hope u are still motivated and not guilted into giving up your creative freedom for the sake of pleasing a few ungrateful twats !!

I used to draw for other small/rare ships (apparently I'm drawn to those kind of ships lol), only one of them got huge enough after they were given some time alone in the manga which got the ship more talented and known creators and amazing fan art.

Unfortunately it also got more hate on since it was a ship that "got in the way" of other huge popular ships and going through the tag got annoying bc the haters tagged every post shitting on the previously rare pairing, plus if you reblogged or made content for it they would harass you. I just blocked everyone sending me hate lmao.

Lots of people now hate Leon/Ashley but I think this increased hatred also shows how the haters can see that it is a thing now unlike before. They see it as a real threat. You can see the insecurity in some of those antis, it's too obvious and also just sad imo. I don't get why antis take shipping too seriously like they're not even having fun anymore and that's supposed to be the point, no?

Truth is I've seen so many Leon/Ashley fans online and even irl, Reddit for example loves it and Remake Ashley is a fan favorite now. A lot of them are more casual fans that maybe don't engage that deeply with fanon (which tbh is the smart thing to do).

Finally I have to say your blog and the amazing fic writers have inspired me to go back to drawing fan art and just creating content for Ashley/Leon or EagleOne. :)

i want us to be a place where people can just come and hang out and make friends over our shared love for resident evil. i know that i have serennedy and cleon and chreon and metaltango people all following me, and i love all of them dearly and i'm happy that we've all found each other. i feel like that's what fandom should be.

that's why i don't fight with aeons out in the open. i don't want to become them. i'll swing back if they ever come here (though i hope valuable lessons were learned the last time someone tried to come in here swinging and i took them out in exactly two responses LMAO), but i don't want to go out picking fights and i don't want any of y'all to do it either.

so it makes me feel really warm and fuzzy and happy to hear that i've inspired you in some way. i know that our little corner of the fandom over here on tumblr is small, and i know that i don't exactly have the kind of welcoming personality that will give me any sort of real platform in this fandom (at least, not like the one i had back in the day when i was a fake ass bitch LMAO), but to know that i've made at least a little difference is everything for me.

Someone pretty popular in the dragon age fandom blocked me and even made a callout post about me back in the day for me saying that Cole getting a romance path with the minstrel girl Maryden, if you make certain choices, was in fact not paedophilia. Their reasoning was that because he was autistic coded he was not able to consent to a relationship and sex and that it was the same as having a relationship with a "literal child". Having autism does not mean you suddenly can't consent to a relationship and as an autistic person myself I told them as such but that was very "problematic" of me according to them. The DA fandom is just fucking wild at times.

I'm sorry you went through that, anon. Idk how common it is for the DA fandom to participate in callout posts these days, but in my experience I've seen TOO MANY in this particular fandom since 2014. It's just so unnecessary and just demonstrates that the person doing it doesn't know how to communicate with the person they're calling out and instead want to make their personal issues our fucking problems. Ugh.

RE: That Specific Sentiment About Cole -- Again, dunno how common it is these days, but this was an extremely common talking point back in 2014 that only seemed to get worse after Trespasser came out. And over the years I've come to view that talking point as a red flag, because it's specifically something TERFs are always pulling when it comes to trans autistic people.

More specifically: JK Rowling pulled out a bunch of random statistics about how many autistic women transitioned in the UK one year, with the implication being that autistic people aren't capable of making informed choices about their bodies and should have the choice stripped from them entirely. Which is why you'll occasionally see an allistic TERF have a weirdly informed opinion about Autism Speaks and ABA therapy. They know enough about the issues that affect autistic ppl because they not only have this ableist view of them as people, they also want to recruit them.

Anyways, by relation, you have people in the DA fandom claiming that a spirit with an adult body isn't capable of consenting to sex because they're autistic, and for some weird reason, autistic people aren't capable of making informed decisions about who they have sex with. Which is a very normal and informed opinion to have about fictional characters, let alone Actual Autistic People /s.

Over the years I've seen autistic people try to dismantle this viewpoint and be like "Hey, this is actually a really ableist thing to say about an autistic-coded character, and is actually really offensive and alienating to autistic people within the fandom". But as usual, none of these people actually care about autistic people (let alone ND ppl as a whole). They just want the brownie points for fighting against all the pedophiles in the Dragon Age fandom. Because the DA fandom is exactly the fandom predators gravitate towards, and not the ones that are specifically geared towards children. Nope, it's the fandom full of women, POC, and queer people that's a minefield of pedophiles /s.

All of that is annoying on it's own. But it also distracts a lot from how Weekes wrote Cole. Most of his "autistic" coding is in his speech patterns, not understanding social cues, lack of eye contact, and being overstimulated/having meltdowns. All of that is fine (imo anyway) until we get to the moment between Varric and Solas pushing the Inquisitor to decide for Cole what he should become: human or spirit?

My core problem with this has always been with the implications of how the "autistic coding" carries over between these choices. But analyzing this further would require me to replay DAI, and that's not on my radar atm.

What I will say is that the choice alone strikes me as Cole not having much agency in the situation. Which, if he's autistic-coded, is a big problem with how that quest was written.
