The state of my inbox, requests, the queue and four-way poll updates

Please quit spamming my inbox. If you would like to add to the discourse regarding anything on the blog. For instance the one piece art style debate or why does Gojo keep losing? Please comment or reblog don't spam my inbox because at the moment there's so much junk in it relating to the discourse that I struggle to find the request for the polls I'm supposed to make. So while I sort through all the junk. I'm not making the polls so that's just going to delay the request opening back up even longer.

Right now I'm kind of debating on whether or not I need to just shut off ask completely because some people are abusing the privilege. Because at the moment there is more stuff in my inbox than when I originally closed the request. Plus most of it isn't even poll request anymore. It's random questions about are certain cartoons going to be allowed and crap about the one piece and Gojo debates

Again, I do this blog for fun. I run this blog by myself and I have a job and a life outside of it. And I want to get through this batch of requests Because I know next time I open up the request box there will be a lot more variety since I have almost triple the follower count. And that means less one piece for all the people that complain because the queue is about 80% one piece and their requests are about 50% one piece. However, I'm not adding new one piece polls to the queue at the moment so that ratio might change

So the person who suggested character cooldowns that just isn't feasible because I got one piece polls that have been in the queue since January. Because I just hit shuffle on the queue a couple times to make sure there isn't going to be too many one piece polls everyday before the polls start posting. Because depending on how many polls post each day you're going to get at least 2 to 4 one piece poll everyday at least for the foreseeable future I am trying to add more variety But with the state of the queue and the request box this is what we're getting until I can open it up again.

On to the topic of four-way polls, I know I've got a bunch of questions about them

For future reference, when it comes to four-way polls, it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission because I don't think this person even bothered to ask. They just sent in the request and I already had all the photos so I was more willing to say yes. But if it's ridiculous and I have to hunt down four photos specifically for one poll because it's super niche characters, I'm probably going to say no. But if I already have all the photos saved because I've done polls for the characters before I'm more likely to say yes. Or maybe you send in the photos. But finding the photos is the hardest part of making the polls. So far there's only been four four-way polls requested so far. Still not done. Going through the request box there could be more.

So if you want to try to get me to do five and six way polls by just sending it in and hoping for the best. Maybe you'll catch me in a good mood but I might say no. As long as everyone understands that anything more than three, no guarantee it will be made you are welcome to try

I hope this made sense. It kind of was a bit of a rant But hopefully this clarifies a lot of the questions and issues that have been brought up the past couple of days

Reading ur tags on the Blaytz ask lol, and gosh yeah the unknown quality of galra lifespans!! What are they?? Voltron Canon, please, I just need a straight answer!!

To be honest, I just make up my own ages for that since headcanon is the only thing I can rely on in that area.

Galra seem to be naturally long lived; possibly near an altean’s lifespan, or at least long enough that a couple centuries is probably pretty natural?? But either the Zarkon Propaganda Machine is simply That effective since only Allura and Coran ever seem shocked by his age, or quintessence has some pretty interesting effects on lifespans! (Discounting the zombie thing, since I am… Assuming that’s not common knowledge dhfjgkgk.) So it’s pretty fun to imagine the effects that quintessence could have, or at least it is for me.

Although, now, thinking about it, I’m incredibly curious as to whether you yourself have any quintessence-related headcanons!

I have a couple of posts addressing this exact topic in depth, if you're interested! In fact, the larger of the two - Altean/Galran/Human Aging & Lifespans - was one half of the very reason I created this blog in the first place, and only the second thing I ever posted here! The smaller was a follow-up posted a good year or so later, if I remember rightly, that specifically focused on the ages of Lotor's generals (who I'd not originally mentioned). I think the only other posts in which I've explored galra lifespans are in my two brief yet frustrated rants about Dayak [i][ii] concerning the fact that she absolutely should not have still been alive in canon, but that is neither here nor there.

As for quintessence, it //absolutely// has an immense impact on the lifespan of any given creature that comes into prolonged contact with it; we see this clearly demonstrated in canon time and time again, but in LB the Big Three are Zarkon, Haggar, and Kova! But the quintessence itself isn't exactly the reason for their immortal status, or not the sole reason at least. I clarified my thoughts on what exactly present-day Zarkon is relatively recently, but the short version is that the thing that came back from the Rift wearing Zarkon's skin is only half Zarkon; in truth, it's a denizen of Sa, the same kind of creature that possesses both Voltron & Sincline, and due to Zarkon's body being an organic vessel (ie. not an adequate container for what is essentially an eldritch horror) its insatiable hunger for quintessence has corrupted its host beyond recognition... and made him immortal as a side-effect.

My only remaining quintessence headcanon - regarding its colouration and subsequent properties - is one I don't think I've shared before (?) though given the obscene quantity of posts now on this blog, it is entirely possible that I have, only to lose it among everything else ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But if I have shared it, I’ve certainly not gone into this much depth, so brace yourselves my loves, for it is another long one..

“[Quintessence] is the substance with the highest known energy per unit volume in the universe. Raw quintessence material is transported here from throughout the galaxy and refined into standardized Galra fuel requirements.”

Canon established quintessence as taking three distinct forms; raw (gold) and refined (violet) quintessence are both featured in s01ep10, wherein Keith witnesses a druid transforming it from the former state into the latter, while its third form - concentrated (white-blue) quintessence - is first featured in s01ep08 when Allura heals the balmera. Now I, being who I am, took that which we were given in canon and elaborated on it, but we’ll get to that in a minute. The established facts are as follows:

(1.) The quintessence used by sacred alteans, such as Allura & Alfor, is potent enough that Allura was able to heal an entire balmera by herself. Though the balmerans were seen to support her in the ceremony, they show no notable signs of strain or exhaustion afterwards, whereas Allura herself collapses immediately upon the ceremony’s conclusion and is shown to still be weak and recovering in the following episode, implying that the physical burden was solely on her shoulders.

(2.) As pictured above, s01ep10 clearly depicted the transformation process of raw (gold) quintessence into its refined (violet) counterpart, and what really struck me about this was the difference in container size between those used for the two types: the raw quintessence container is clearly the height of the druid (who I’d estimate to be at least seven foot tall) whereas the refined quintessence container is a mere fraction of that, allowing Keith to hold it in one hand. Though it’s not entirely clear exactly how many refined containers one cylinder of raw quintessence equates to, we know it’s a bare minimum of three: the one created at the process' beginning (13:48), the one stolen by Keith (17:22), and the one beside which the druid places aforementioned stolen container (17:52). There’s certainly potential for there to have been others created off-screen, due to the episode cutting between Keith and the other paladins, but not many; we know that this entire scene only takes place over the span of - at most - ten minutes due to Allura & Shiro’s plot, in which they acknowledge that they only have “a few minutes” before the next patrol comes by, happening simultaneously.

So, “why is this important?” you ask. Well the answer to that is volume.

If we assume that the large cylindrical container’s height is (judging by a combination of the druid in comparison to Keith, and my beloved height chart) approximately 7 feet or 84 inches, then its width, which I measured at about a third of said height, would be 28 inches. The calculation for volume is as follows:

volume = πr² x height

volume = π(14²) x 84

volume = 51,723.2 cubic inches, or 847.6 litres

Using this same calculation, we can also find the volume of the refined quintessence container, assuming that its height is (given its appearance in comparison to Keith) 12 inches and its width 4 inches:

volume = πr² x height

volume = π(2²) x 12

volume = 150.8 cubic inches, or 2.5 litres

So the large cylinders contain approximately 847.6 litres, while the small cylinders (of which we saw three, though I should expect there were several more) contain 2.5 litres. The obvious inconsistency thus being that one large cylinder should equate to a grand total of 339 smaller cylinders... and there’s no way we missed that many. It’s not like the large cylinder still had more to give, either- at 19:16 we see a new container of raw quintessence being loaded up, implying the previous one was fully depleted, so, somehow, there appears to be a massive imbalance in the ratio of raw:processed quintessence, despite there being no physical state change (ie. the quintessence is still apparently liquid post-druidic-tampering).

Begging the question; why?

The principle of energy conservation states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It may, however, transform from one type to another. You can look up Sankey Diagrams if you want to understand this better, but what I’m essentially getting at is that - druidic magic or not - it is, according to the laws of physics, impossible for such a massive quantity of raw quintessence to be condensed down into such a tiny quantity of refined quintessence... unless there is a massive loss of energy somewhere along the line; watching that scene again, a fair amount of it likely dissipates as light energy (and possibly heat energy too), ultimately meaning that the druidic method of quintessence conversion is so inefficient that even if we generously assume that the druid produced a total of 20 containers of refined quintessence (17 of which we didn't see), it would appear that the resultant volume of refined quintessence stands at less than 6% of its raw counterpart.

This brings us to the question of density; it’s entirely possible that refined quintessence could be rather a lot denser (ie. the molecules are packed together more tightly, meaning that it has greater mass per volume) than raw quintessence, though it does still remain liquid. For argument’s sake, let us say the difference is comparable to that between water (with a density of 1.0 g/mL) and mercury (the densest liquid on Earth, at a value of 13.5 g/mL). Due to raw quintessence having a density of 1.0, its mass would be of an identical value to its volume (847.6), but as this is not the case for refined quintessence, the calculation would be:

mass = density x volume

refined quintessence mass = 13.5 x (2.5 x 20)

refined quintessence mass = 13.5 x 50

refined quintessence mass = 675g

Meaning that a mass of 847.6g in its raw state, has been reduced to 675g in its refined state. Not nearly so catastrophic as the aforementioned 6% would have made it appear, but still with a loss of ~20.4% total.

So really, it’s little wonder that the Empire has need of the Komar.

With their methodology of refinement being so inefficient, you’d think that the galra (having had literal millennia with Zarkon & Haggar at the helm) would have figured out how to utilise raw quintessence in its natural state, rather than wasting so much of its power. The fact that they haven't, means that they likely can’t... which is where it falls to me to decide why this is the case.

So raw (gold) quintessence is the substance’s naturally occurring form, the very essence of nature and the universe itself, but as such it is in equal parts powerful and volatile, making it exceedingly dangerous to handle. Though galra of Druidic bloodlines are able to manipulate raw quintessence in this untempered form, Haggar has taught generations of Druids how to convert it into a far more stable and malleable state (violet), standardised for Imperial use, but in doing so they significantly lessen its potency. The graph pictured above compares the different types of quintessence with regard to the relationship between quantity and volatility; generally speaking, the more liquid quintessence contained in one area, the greater the chance of the literal essence of the universe doing something unexpected and potentially catastrophic (and with increasing likelihood at that), but the degree to which this is true is variable depending upon the type of quintessence one is dealing with. Raw quintessence, as you can see, becomes quite rapidly dangerous when amassed in significant quantities, and the amount required to power a military-grade Imperial ship’s average energy consumption per 100,000 lightyears of travel (marked with X) sits over the marker for dangerous levels of volatility. Refined (violet) quintessence, however, is much less volatile, and though it requires almost twice as much refined quintessence to power the same military-grade Imperial vessel under the same circumstances, its level of volatility is less than half of its raw counterpart, and sits comfortably below that aforementioned danger zone.

Finally, we have concentrated (white-blue) quintessence: that which a rare few “sacred” Alteans possessed the ability to convert from the universe around them, transforming raw (gold) quintessence into a form that could be effectively utilised without compromising its power to any significant degree. This ability, however, subjected their bodies to extreme strain, and while there are natural inhibitors in altean brains to stop them from doing so in excess, if they were to forcibly transcend these limitations the untempered excess would likely trigger a rapid decomposition of their genetic structure. That being said, although altean quintessence is somewhat more volatile than refined quintessence, it is far more potent, and so a far smaller quantity of it would be required to reap the same rewards, making it the most efficient form of quintessence in terms of its power:stability ratio.

Let's be realistic, fanservice? Really meh?

Do people really think that jkk is based on fanservice? How much will they try to deny it? It's obvious that they do so, but the actions and emotions that they portray towards each other when they are doing 'it' doesn't really make me comfortable to call it as 'fanservice'. These terms are so weird tbh lol.

Back then Jimin used to be extremely attracted and sort of touchy towards JK. ( JK was going through puberty during that period) Jimin used to constantly say that jungkook was [HE STILL IS] attractive and that he loves JK. They both were teens, Jimin probably didn't knew what feelings he had towards JK or he probably knew that he was in love we don't know. Try watching their past logs + how both of them used to behave around each other when the whole group attended an event or just old BangtanTv videos.

Jungkook used to push Jimin away (distance himself?) from jm. (not in bad a way tho). Jungkook was flustered and shy , he didn't know how to react. He was young, love was in the air. Kookie acted all tough and cool and dismissive with jimin. He was 16 for god sakes, teens are insecure during that phase it isn't like he didn't like jimin, he actually liked jm's presence and appreciated the attention he gotten from Jm . Try watching a few behind the scenes vids. He would say stuff like "jimin is really nice to me, he seems to really like me" and many more! From what I saw through their growth was that during 2015/2016 Jungkook some sort was attracted towards JM. (sexually attracted?) Soon then Jungkook was being sort of clingy? Jimin kept distance with JK because that boi was definitely ( I'm pretty sure both of them knew what they were dealing with it was pure LOVE) You could clearly see that Jungkook became possessive towards Jimin. " Jeonlous " . - yup thats the word that many use. [ I do not fully agree with the link that i attached, it's an example ]

" Jeonlous " - well I sort of disagree with this term as well, many do. Jealous shouldn't be a word to describe Jk's attitude when Jimin is distracted by someone or you know "relationship stuffs". I'm not going to talk much about this topic because my I don't wanna meddle in here. Well YES he does get possesive at times, he loves Jimin a LOT. One thing is wrong tho, the way jkk-ers portray Jungkook action as resentful. NO THAT'S PURE WRONG. Jungkook isn't treated unfairly, JK & JM spends a lot of time with each other.

Enough of me ranting lol. But now let's talk about Jungkook actions during 2016-2021. I loved the way Jungkook made up with Jimin in almost every aspect. Jungkook really loves Jimin and it really is visible. His expressions, behaviour, and actions really depicts his love towards JM. If you did pay close attention towards the "ranking the member visuals " thingy you would know that JM would be ranked as the last . I felt a little bad for Jimin here, he was clearly uncomfortable. He was probably expecting a better rank by Jk, after all he gave JK a lot of attention. I suppose JM felt hurt and stopped giving TOO much of attention towards JK. He still is insecure about his visual. { well first of all they shouldn't even had proceeded with this ranking thingy, it's a serious issue.. NOT ONLY FOR JM BUT JUST IMAGINE if it was another member. This will do no good for their self- esteem.}

I even received an ask a few days ago by my lovely anon, anon mentioned about how Jungkook tends to act soft and not competitive with JM during run bts, whatever shows lol. ... you asked for it smh, but I've been thinking a lot about that one scene in Neverseen in Exilliums healing tent (or whatever its called)

I had a whole rant here about what the implication of this 'serum' might mean in the lost cities but it kinda spiraled into nothing so I'm cutting it out. (main point was just the mood towards drugs, Shannon has had previous mentions of both alcohol and drunk people, so (though im not saying she should incorporate this into a middle grade book series a t a l l), Id be curious to see her take on drugs, (if they exist and how they effect people and the elven population // how is it treated? Is it looked down upon or even forbidden (why we might only see it in Exillium territories) or is it so normal and inconsequential that its just part of the norm in the lost cities?

but anyway, back to the thing I was originally thinking of - i feel like this is something rarely talked about but pls tell me I'm not the only one who has picked up on how weird Keefe's relationship with sedatives is. It's such a contrast to Sophie, where she's openly opposed to taking any type of sedative he seems to be really open to them, in fact in Unlocked every time he's knocked out by a sedative his language is pretty much always positive, like he really enjoys it. This probably just ties into something you mentioned a while back about Keefe and dealing with stuff by running away but I find it really interesting.

(Sorry if this is an uncomfortable ask to get, I know not everyone is comfortable with drug talk and I hope this Isn't overstepping a line.)

I don't remember specifically what I asked for, but this is a topic I hadn't even realized was so fascinating, so thank you for bringing it up! That scene is kinda funny (as in weird) looking back on it, but Keefe was completely out of it and being a lot more vulnerable than he probably wanted to be due to his state of mind. I think it was intended to mirror something like anesthesia or laughing gas (note: in my brief research trying to find info about the boobrie dude I made a mental comparison between tam and sandor, so I'm just making note of it here so I don't forget), at least as far as Keefe's reaction goes. I think part of this was strategic so that we could get some information and vulnerability (although unwillingly) from Keefe and get that first glimpse of "the boy beneath all that swagger" (paraphrased from Sophie). But that's not what your ask is about so I'll move on before I get even more distracted.

wine, at the very least, exists in the lost cities. we've got fizzleberry wine, which is blamed by some for Caprise Redek's accident. Aside from that we've seen no mention of it, as this is a middle grade series about a young teen girl in a fantasy world, and in a "perfect" world there isn't a lot of talk about recreational substances. And I agree with you! this isn't to say that I think drugs and alcohol should be this huge thing in keeper or that it even needs to be address, just commenting that the attitude the general public has towards substances and intoxication is likely even more severe in the elven world, as has been the pattern with other things. We can tell from Caprise's incident that their wine functions similar if not identical to ours, as it was said to have impaired her motor control and thinking, hence how she fell off that balcony. So I think we could assume that drugs in the Lost Cities would be similar to those in the Forbidden Cities in function. Not in name though, likely named after some strange elven thing. Though if we go with the wine example, Fizzleberry is likely an exact description of what it is--the wine probably fizzes and is made from berries.

the elves highly value the mind, so I anticipate that anything that messes with it past beneficial medicinal uses prescribed by a physician are frowned upon. they think of your mental capacity and capabilities as integral to who you are, and composure as essential. drugs take that away and can impair your reasoning, hence my conclusion they're not well liked. however, I propose that this mindset is mostly those who are very proper, for example Lord Cassius. Dex was more than ready to take concentration serums of his own making--and convinced Sophie to take one (note: dex has almost killed both Sophie and Fitz. that can't be fun to know)--which directly messed with his limbic center. However, as he was raised in an apothecary and is already a little less in line with all other elvin values, I don't think him being an outlier is enough to completely through out my assumption. overall: looked down upon because it messes with the mind and the mind is crucial to elven society, and the way it impairs your thinking would make you a lesser person

and you're right! keefe's relationship with sedative is weird. we have this teenager who grew up without stable supports or a loving family having very little regard for how substances will effect his body, prioritizing the possible--not guaranteed, possible--benefits over all the risks. this is not to say drug use is inherently bad, just that the situation he's in makes me very cautious because he feels more at risk of falling into bad habits. also, your observation about tying that into him running away is very astute! i've talked a lot about him running away from his problems in more ways that physical, and I think this is an excellent example of that

he doesn't like his reality, the world he lives in when he's awake and aware and lucid. it's full of all these problems and people and he doesn't know what to do. but when he's asleep? he doesn't have to deal with any of that. he doesn't have to do anything, but he's also troubled enough and anxious enough that sleep doesn't always come easy, and he can be plagued by nightmares. but those sedatives mess with his mind and not only make him sleep faster and longer, but they can mess with your dreams and alter the reality you experience while asleep. i guess it could be a way of trying to take control of a situation he had very little control over, especially in unlocked when everyone else was trying to fix things without consulting him. with his waking world that bad, of course he's gonna like anything that takes him away from it.

it stands out especially when we switch to him as a narrator and he's praising these things and wanting to be sedated, as we've spent so long in Sophie's head and she's so against them from the trauma she experienced in the first book. that could mean his attitude them is more jarring just because we're used to Sophie and it wouldn't seem as dramatic if we'd switched from say, Fitz's head. but that doesn't mean there's nothing here.

i think i've said it before, but Keefe doesn't have any healthy coping strategies right now that he consistently relies on. his deference towards avoidance and making the problem go away, even if it's just in feeling induced by drugs, is a more extreme example of how he doesn't know how to just exist without hurting.

Why the hell is Virgil the main character? And don't try to tell me that he isn't. Every episode since AA has been about this purple bitch.

But like. The fandom saw, a teacher who strives for perfection, a half snake-half man with trust issues but sole purpose is to protect, a dad who wants the best for his children even if he's sacrificing his own health, and a pair of twins who were originally the same person but split in two.... And the emo is the main character?

I don't get it. I'll probably never get it.

I wouldn't have such a problem if other characters got to do things without Virgil being the star. Like, in dwit we got a whole new fucking character! Huge lore reveals surrounding Remus! But Virgil says that he was a "darkside" (something that Roman completely made up. So it shouldn't even be an issue here) and all that is shoved to the side?

Plus nothing even happened with it! Virgil showed up in athd, acted completely normal, and then left! With no mentioning of the past "revelation"!

Plus, like Virgil buddy... Why the fuck did you hiss at Janus when he came to get HIS shit after Roman stole it!! If that happened to Virgil the fandom would be having a soap opera.

Plus Virgil is a complete dick! "I'm going to prohibit your breathing" to Logan when he was doing his fucking job. And he's really rude to Patton almost every episode (I can go on another rant about my problems with patton...) even though patton was the first to accept him!

Everything Virgil does has zero consequences.

Not to mention the fandom's babying of him. Portray the characters how you want (hell, I personally view Janus as the youngest, shortest, and a fucking blond), but I have a huge problem with babying anxiety.

I have anxiety. I have an anxiety disorder. I have four fucking anxeity disorders. And when my anxiety is heightened its not "owo! I'm so anxious! I need a hug immediately and think that everyone hates me!" no. No it's "I can feel someone breathing down my neck, despite being home alone. My friends hate me, no one would even come to my funeral. What do you think your family thinks of you? Bet they say you're a disappointment."

And I personally find it really upsetting that something I struggle with daily is babied! Anxeity medication is demonized as something that would kill Virgil. Panic attacks are regularly viewed as something that only takes ten minutes out of your day and then you're fine. Where in reality, after a panic attack I sleep for 8 hours, am still tired when I wake up, and are mentally drained for the rest of the day.

Almost everything that the fandom represents anxeity as is wrong, incorrect, and harmful.

Plus Virgil's a dick.

Honestly everything you said is something I've been thinking about for awhile. Especially with how anxiety is portrayed in the series. Yes, anxiety is different for everyone, and for a lot of people anxiety is (pardon my language) a bitch.

If I could choose to either manage my own anxiety better or be rid of it completely you can guarantee I would choose the latter in a heartbeat.

At this point I'm just gonna have to make a whole post on this topic because there is way too much to cover in a single response regarding the Virgil/Anxiety problem.

Using own experiences to make a generalized point is objectively meaningless, but were you too harsh on that person?

I get that especially US americans are very difficult to talk to about gun control and this pretentious attitude of "America is the center of the(ir) world" is fucking annoying. And yes, sometimes you just want to shove their desentizised takes on violence back.

But it's not the right way to debate. Between most of the world looking down to the US with this bemused "wtf are they doing over there" and my little condensending rant here, you probably just wanted to vent too and that's perfectly understandable.

It is annoying that shit like this just fuels their paranoia. Because yes:

Do you have a right to defend yourself? yes

Is it morally okay to defend yourself? yes.

Is it morally okay to kill someone trying to defend yourself? yes.

Should you aspire any of those things as your first and only action? no

No one is arguing the issue "Is it okay?" , it's about "What can you do so it doesn't come to this?". Get a gun to sleep better at night, sure. Having the option is good. But after that? The potential to mishandle the gun with no experience, to lose the gun during the fight making the situation worse, or the emotional damage of actually managing to kill someone. This is not a simple issue. Even disregarding the culprits life.

Leaving the almost enthusiastic reach for the gun out of the picture, this whole mantra of "You can do anything you want in America, defend yourself, it's YOUR right." is starting to sound less than a positive freedom-right and more like "be your own savior, your fault if you couldn't do it, you had all the tools, all the "rights" to help yourself so why didn't you? You could have taken lessons to learn to handle a gun, you could ..." and never "Ask for help". No. " BE your own help, YOU are responsible for your own safety".

While blind trust in others and especially the government is delusionally naive, this whole paranoia of government help or what acting and being part of a socienty means is so alienated. Society is there to help, there so you can be safe and have other options that the medieval.

A healthy amount of distrust and scepticism is good and necessary but the fact that this simple discussion got so out of hand just shows it.

This became (yet again) about Americas favorite topic, throwing all compassion and logic out of the window to secure "freedom".

I would say I was too harsh prior to knowing about the rape. I knew from the very beginning that this person didn't live the situation described by the reddit poster and I told them. They then just used their rape as a gotcha after that. I doubled down, while trying to show some compassion because I understand their feelings. I also wrote under the idea that they indeed in fact killed someone in self defense. Turns out it isn't the case, apparently, so I was wrong in that regards.

I honestly have been pretty much holding myself back from saying a lot of (mean) shit against "Americans". I'm putting it in quotation because I am perfectly capable of knowing that it isn't "all Americans", but sometimes I feel and think very uncharitable things towards the people, because some of them are very much in favor of spewing their poison on it and add a little layer of "freedom muh" on top of their inability to read without screeching (is it a Tumblr issue? Not sure).

I honestly don't think killing in any case is really morally right, but I understand that sometimes you have to do things that aren't moral in order to survive. I don't think a thing being not moral means it shouldn't happen ever or that the person should be prosecuted for it. I think, if people had nuances, they could understand that removing the life of someone is bad while also understanding that sometimes, it's the only choice. In a very stereotypical example, someone who steals bread from little shops to survive is doing a bad thing but should be doing it because they have no choice. I'm not arguing the person shouldn't defend themselves, just like I'm not arguing that the person shouldn't have food either. Recognizing that the action is not good doesn't mean people shouldn't survive. Idk how to make the point clearer to be honest. I do think that it should be legally okay to defend yourself and even steal if your life depends on it. I repeat I don't think someone should be any way punished for it.

Bringing self defense without intent to kill cases to justice is good, because after deliberating over the fact that it was their only choice to survive, the justice doesn't condemn the victim doing it and tells them "it's okay you did it. You had no choice. You can start trying to move on." Because killing can have bad repercussions on the person who did it. Seeing the family of the person who died? No matter how much of a vile person that could be, that gotta leave traces, because you cut the possibility for those people to be together ever again, and you probably hurt the family by killing someone they cared about. Some people have families who do bad things but they still care about them and would be hurt from it. People fail to recognize that when you kill someone, you don't impact only the person's life. You impact a lot of other people around. But maybe I just have a different and weird understanding of things.

And yes, the topic at the very basis before it deteriorate to "I need a gun to sleep at night" was "is 'get a gun' legal advice" and it isn't. I agree with all you said on your post about that.
