Hello, just found your blog and I love your posts. Thanks for sharing them.
When I first saw your blog, I thought it will be about classical books like Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, etc (sorry for my mistake). I'm new in anime/manga (about last 6 years), before that since my school days, I only read classical books.....So not young in age but young in fandom :D
Are those seven are your fav media : BSD, JJK, Genshin Impact, AFTG, Voltron, Demon Slayer, Haikyuu? Can I ask why you love them? What made them special for you?
P.s
Are you excited for the Haikyuu movie, new season of Demon Slayer, and new spin off for AFTG?
Thanks 🌻
Thank you for sending in another request!! I smiled wide when I saw that sunflower 🌻
I completely understand where you’re coming from. The A Tale of Two Cities is sure to through anyone off. Sorry!! I mainly use this blog to post my ramblings and creative projects that I can’t really put anywhere else, plus a few one shots. I might transfer more of my one-shots to here from Ao3, but I simply haven’t gotten around to it.
Love to hear that you love the classics, though!! I wish I had the patience to read more than I have already. I’m an extremely slow reader, so it makes it difficult to get through classics (even though I love them dearly). For anime/manga, I wouldn’t say I’m a huge fan myself. Not that I don’t enjoy it, but I don’t go out of my way to read or watch something in that genre because it’s in that genre. I watch or read anything that may pique my interest, regardless of the format, be it on Youtube, Hulu, Crunchyroll, etc. I haven’t really even seen many animanga myself, to be honest.
I wouldn’t say the seven that you listed are my favorite media, they are just the ones that I have written fanfiction/analyses about and posted it on here. I use that list as a masterlist guide for people to find my meaningful posts easier! So, not my favorite, just whats available to peruse on my account. As for my actual favorite… it’s hard to say. I don’t think I have seven I can list off the top of my head, but I do have some favorites in general.
Interestingly, for most of my “favorites”, I have never written a fanfiction for, nor do I read many fanfics for (with the exception of a couple of favorites). I don’t know why this is. Maybe because I find the original story too good to be expanded upon? I can’t say for certain.
A Silent Voice is easily favorite movie. It’s also my favorite anime, if you don’t require the anime to be a series. I haven’t watched any movie better, animated or otherwise, and I’m not sure I ever will. The characters are all so beautifully human, who say and do the wrong things, who are awful to each other, but who also do kind things, who develop, who change, even as others stay the same. Not to mention that the animation itself is beautiful. I could go on and on about this movie; I cry every time I watch it. I’d say it’s my favorite piece of media in general. Everything else falls behind it. Nothing can top it (at least not yet). Fun fact, if you didn’t already know: the English voice actor for Shouko, the main female lead, is actually deaf. Wonderful voice casting as well, just to top things off.
Bungou Stray Dogs is my favorite manga as of right now. I love it for many of the same reasons I love A Silent Voice; the characters are horribly human and complex, despite their inhuman abilities. Each character is interesting and unique, and while I do have gripes with the main storytelling, Asagiri’s Bungou Stray Dogs: BEAST really makes up for it. All of the character designs are also very unique and thought-out. Each character and their design leaves me spiraling as I think and analyze. It really triggers the autism LMAO.
Child of Light is my favorite video game. While I do have the most hours logged into Genshin Impact (and it is a close second in terms of favorites), Child of Light is simply one of those games that I can never forget. I have a lot of good childhood memories tied with it. I also completed the entire thing in one sitting in about 10 hours, which is the first and probably last time I ever speed-run a video game (speed-run is used loosely here because I am not “speedy” in any sense of the word). Anyway, Child of Light is a very beautiful game both in visuals (with its watercolor game design) and music (one of the best soundtracks in any game, in my opinion). The language in the game is also very unique — every character speaks in a rhyming pattern, all except the Jester character, who you would THINK would speak in rhymes but fails miserably every time. Each character is as fantastical as the next, ranging from a water droplet to a mouse. I wish everyone would play this game, because it’s so fun and so beautiful.
The Grishaverse is my favorite book series, though there are multiple series within the universe. I just don’t have a favorite (definitely not the Grisha Trilogy though 😭). Although it’s been a while since I’ve read the books, I seriously couldn’t put them down when I was reading them. They are a perfect blend of fantasy and realism, with believable characters and powers. While the OG series is genuinely not good in my opinion, the Six of Crows and King of Scars Duologies are actual masterpieces. Six of Crows is full of action, intensity, and found family, while King of Scars balances it out with political intrigue. Very, very well written and well done book series in plot, character, and setting. The TV show is a crime against the books, honestly, but it’s okay, Just read the books, they are better.
Merlin is my favorite TV show. I actually really love watching medieval settings. Not as much reading (not that I don’t like them in books, I just don’t search them out for the purpose of being medieval), but I love to watch them. I like admiring the old settings, buildings, clothes, and lifestyles that are being presented. I also love Arthurian retellings, so Merlin kind of hits the spot. I don’t have as many good reasons for loving this series, I just do 😭. Best (b)romance of the century. I did cry at the end when I watched it. Also, thank you to the Merlin fandom for reaching me what a good fanfiction is supposed to look like.
That’s all I can think of. I don’t really have a favorite individual book, classic or otherwise. I think that’s kind of impossible for me. I’ve read many great series, and I assume I will read a great many more to come.
I’m not sure if I’ll watch the Haikyuu movie. It’s been a long time since I’ve watched the anime, but if I come across it and I can watch it for free, then I’d be down honestly. I have been keeping up with Demon Slayer, with plans to read the manga maybe, so I am pretty excited for the new season!! And don’t get me started on the new All for the Game book!! I need it in my hands right now.
Thank you so much for asking!! I love talking about my favorite medias lol

*message me/send an ask if you want to be on here*
 ____________________________
The next day comes but it's very obvious that Belphie is still avoiding you.
You can't find him the entire day. It's a mystery to you where he is hiding.
Even Beel doesn't seem to know. Maybe he just doesn't want to tell you.
You have no choice but to keep looking for him. Almost aimlessly you wander the hallways.
You wonder what it will take you to find Belphie.
Suddenly you find yourself in an area that you haven't seen yet. It seems to be the attic.
You stand in front of a door. How did you even end up here?
Somehow you feel a strange urge to open the door.
You see it's a room that is a bit messy but still comfortable.
There you see Belphie, lying on a bed in the middle of the room.
So he was here this whole time? A true miracle that you found him.
For a moment you hesitate since he does appear to be asleep. It would be rude to wake him up. Then you remember how in the class where he slept basically the whole day.
Can you really just stand here and wait all day for Belphie to wake up?
"You really don't know when to give up, do you?" Belphie seems pretty grumpy.
"I didn't mean to wake you up but I have been looking for you the whole day. I just wanted to talk to you about what happened the other day." You don't want to make him even more upset.
"I forgive you, just leave me alone." Belphie doesn't seem interested.
"No, I can't accept that. I want to apologize for my hurtful words. Please forgive me." You bow deeply.
"I honestly have no idea what you even mean but sure whatever you are forgiven." Belphie is disinterested in the conversation.
"I said something very rude about humans and I didn't know that you lost someone important to you that was human. I honestly never meant to hurt you." You feel very guilty about it.
"Well, whatever. I'm over it. Just get out and leave me alone." Belphie seems merciless.
"Alright, I can't force you to forgive me. I still hope that we might be able to get along in the future." You have said what you wanted to say, it's now up to Belphie.
"You really never give up do you? This part of you was very annoying. Do what you want. Just don't expect me to play along with this charade. I won't be friends with you just because… whatever just leave me alone and we won't have any issues." Belphie seems very frustrated but also very sad. Heartbroken even.
You know there is nothing else that you can say to him right now. "I will leave Belphie now but don't think that I will give up." You know there might be still a chance for you to get along with him.
"Do what you must, it's not like you will listen to me. You are thick-skulled after all, kinda like a mule." Belphie grumbles.
You can't deny this statement.
It's a bit frustrating but overall it's better that you leave the room. At least you said what you wanted to say. Maybe you can somehow move forward and find new common ground with him in the future?
You can only hope so.
Still lost in thoughts you walk back to your room.
Outside in the hallway, you find Levi. Who seems to stare at your door.
"Levi? Were you looking for me?" You are a bit surprised to see him.
“Waaaah! N-no I wasn't looking for you and then just ended up standing here for about 10minutes unable to knock at all!” Levi starts to stumble over his own words again, and tells you everything you need to know.
“Okay so… You want to come in?” You are sure that Levi wants something or at the very least he wants to spend time with you.
“I don't want to intrude or anything. You were just kinda sad looking earlier so I just wanted to see how you are…” Levi sighs, admitting the truth.
“That is very thoughtful of you. I'm better now, so do you want to come in or not?” You give him a gentle smile.
“If you insist…”Levi seems a bit giddy.
You open your door and let him in.
Levi gets himself comfortable. “I have actually brought some anime and games to cheer you up, but I guess now that's kinda pointless...I'm a true failure as a friend.” Levi sighs heavily.
“It's very sweet of you to do that. I don't mind watching some of the stuff that you brought along and the games you have. I'm a bit curious about demon games. It's also very nice that you think of me as a friend. I'm really glad about that.” You look curiously at the bag that Levi has now placed on the table.
“You are my friend no matter what, even when...well you don't see me like that now…”Levi sighs again.
“Why would you think that? I mean, we have only just met, but you are a nice demon from my point of view.” You aren't sure why Levi talks like this about himself.
"You are too nice to me…"Levi looks to the ground. It seems like he feels guilty about something.
You decide to change the topic and take a look at the collection of anime that Levi has brought.
'These all look very interesting but I wouldn't even know where to start. I haven't watched much anime in heaven. Most of them were educational. Which of these would you recommend?" You look at the colorful covers and don't even know where to start.
"So you are basically a noob. Well in this case we start with this one. It's a cute anime about demons, angels, and humans all going to the same school and becoming friends. It's a slice of life anime." Levi shows you the cover and it looks extremely cute.
"Sounds great, I might be able to learn a thing or two." You agree with the choice.
"Nice, I know you will love it." Levi takes the movie disk and puts it into your recorder.
Both of you get comfortable in front of the TV, with a bunch of pillows.
Levi even brought a few cute looking snacks.
The anime starts to run with its cute theme song and cute characters, you are immediately hooked. It's a very cute show that is mainly focused on the friendship between the different characters and their daily adventures.
In the end, you cry when they all have to separate. It manages to hit your core.
"This was truly amazing; it made me cry. I somehow thought that Aki would end up with Aoi but in the end, they had to separate without ever saying it. It's so sad." You still wipe your tears away.
"So you ship these two as well? That's very cool, same here. You think they at least hold hands but I think it's still very obvious that they care deeply about each other. I mean did you see how they each still have the phone straps with them and then the way they looked at each other and then you know when they were on the roof and Aoi wanted to say something but it was too loud. Then in that one scene, Aki got in between Aoi and Mori, when Mori was just about to tell Aoi the painful news. So heartbreaking." Levi seems to feel the same way you do.
" I agree, is there anything more from this anime? Was it based on a Manga?" You still want more.
"It was based on a light novel. I can bring it to you tomorrow but sadly it more or less just covers the anime. Though there are rumors of a sequel. It's very popular, it even got an app. Oh wait, I can show you the game if you want to. We can play it together." Levi seems very excited.
It's pretty funny to see him talking so normally when it comes to his interests.
"I can't wait to read it and I will try the game." You'll find Levi's passion rubbing off on you.
You install the game and Levi shows you all the tricks and you add him to your friend list.
Then you notice how late it is. "Levi, look at the time. I should get ready for bed."
"Huh? Oh yeah, I haven't noticed, being with you is so much fun, I lost track of time." Levi seems surprised.
"I feel the same way. We should do this again." You give him a kind smile. His cheering you up mission was a success for sure.
"I -of course. Let's d-do this again. I will leave the rest of the stuff I brought here, just give them back when you are done." Levi seems to be suddenly self-aware again.
“Thank you, Levi, I will take good care of your belongings.” You politely smile at Levi.
"I look forward to your reaction." Levi gives you a genuine smile.
You nod. "Sleep well, Levi."
"Thank you, sleep well too." He nods back and then leaves you alone.
You lay on your bed, feeling much more at ease.
~ 3 more parts to go.

DIO’s Hired Assassins Ranked
I’ve been rewatching JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders lately because it finally came to Netflix and thus I could get my old DM to watch it (for the sake of memes). I haven’t watched it since it came out and remembered having something against it, but I couldn’t remember what exactly; my fondness has only grown thanks to how memetic it is.
The answer: it’s too long and the villains aren’t especially memorable, DIO aside.
After I got to Alessi, I decided I wanted to rank them (specifically to put him as dead last, though I ended up not doing that). I was originally going to put this on my personal blog, but realized that I’m evaluating a bunch of weird spells, so it’s here.
IMHO, Stands split pretty well between Monk (fighting spirit, etc.) and some sort of caster (so many of them are just flat-out spells). The majority of the villains are the latter type, so I figured this would work here.
I’m going to skip anyone on Team Joestar and DIO because that’s just unfair.
Murder Stands
Before I get underway, I want to introduce a term I’ll be using again and again: “Murder Stand.” This is a Stand which has no ability beyond hurting/killing people. I take off points for this because even Punch Ghosts like Star Platinum have other utility.
Unranked: Thoth (Boingo) -- Precognitive Manga
Thoth is all potential and little application -- mostly because the Oingo Boingo brothers are comic relief villains. Thoth’s ability is to predict what will happen to the reader (who doesn’t necessarily have to be the Stand user) in the next few minutes, but without enough context for it to get used reliably. Indeed, every character who uses it ends up hurt. Since it’s an item, it’s possible that someone could steal it from Boingo permanently. That said, the possibilities with this Stand are immense, so it should be far more powerful than presented.
25 - Sun (Arabia Fats): A miniature sun with a suite of solar powers.
Illuminates a large area as though it were noon. (Sun sits at approximately 100 meters in the air and has a very wide area of effect.)
Raises the ambient temperature in that area to intolerable levels
Can fire highly accurate energy blasts at anything in the area
This Stand appears in a single episode (not quite a BLAM episode: it fits contextually, but it’s never discussed beforehand or afterward) and the only dialogue we get comes from Team Joestar, so we don’t know what the Stand’s actual parameters are. We do know that its use range is largely taken up by how high it sits in the sky and that it affects everything in its area of effect indiscriminately because Arabia Fats is present and has to take precautions against it. This makes the Murder Stand aspect of this suspect: there just aren’t many situations where you need (or would even want) to kill on that scale. Since we don’t know if Arabia Fats can control the light or heat his Stand produces (beyond firing lasers), any further utility is also suspect.
24 - Emperor (Hol Horse): magic missile in the form of a gun with a homing bullet.
Don’t get me wrong, having magic missile at-will is a great thing, but this isn’t an unerring missile (as in D&D) but a homing missile (as in most incarnations of the spell I’ve found elsewhere). It can miss. It’s also a 1st-level spell and there are far more powerful effects on this list. (No idea why this is called “Emperor.”)
23 - Deep Blue Moon (Imposter Captain Teneil): punch ghost fishfolk with various underwater abilities.
This Stand is powerful only if encountered in the water. It’s more powerful than the Emperor and has slightly more utility, but not by much. (Not terribly lunar beyond the association with water.)
22 - Khnum (Oingo): alter self (or possibly disguise self as a Transmutation).
Oingo only ever uses this on his face and hair, but supposedly he can use this on the rest of his body, altering height, weight, and possibly clothing in the process. This has more utility than any of the above, but Oingo’s an idiot (comic relief villain) and there’s another Stand that can do this and more. (”Khnum” because Oingo rearranges his face as though it were clay.)
21 - Tower of Gray (Gray Fly): stag beetle with super speed and xenomorph bite. Mainly used to cause airplane disasters and similar.
The range on this stand is fairly short (the user has to be on the plane he’s trying to crash, for one), but longer than most punch ghosts while still remaining potent. It’s small enough to escape some attention and fast enough to give Star Platinum problems. (”Tower” because it’s used for mass murder via disasters.)
20 - Set(han) (Alessi): user’s shadow animates, de-aging the bodies (and gradually minds) of opponents it comes in contact with; can wield any object the user holds.
By range, this would be a Punch Ghost, but it doesn’t have the other stats for it. Its special ability is rather powerful, but it puts Alessi in difficult situations (he’d be a suspect in any missing person cases seeking his victims); it doesn’t have to be used to murder people, but it’s of limited-enough utility that it may as well be used that way. Finally, the entire arc screams “pedo,” so it doesn’t deserve a high rank even if it had more power. (”Set” doesn’t really fit, but I think they picked it because it’s an approximation of an inimical/evil entity. Not sure why it’s rendered as “Sethan” in English sources: that’s an uncommon transliteration [not related to many inscriptions] and the Japanese rendering is “Seto- 神” [Set-god].)
19 - Ebony Devil (Devo): Chucky. Stand activates after the user is injured, then possesses an object (generally a doll) to seek out vengeance. Stand’s power amplified by user’s hatred of the target.
This is the first truly remote Stand on the list, which is its main perk. Generally speaking, long-range Stands lack power, so having an ability that amplifies power is really handy. However, the fact that it basically requires that the user gets severely injured to work is a deal-breaker. The seeming need to have a doll present to use is also a drawback, but it’s not clear how far the user can be from the Stand, so maybe that’s not that big of a deal. (As for Devil, it works. I guess. I mean, that card has a lot of meanings.)
18 - Wheel of Fortune (ZZ): Stand attaches to a car, manipulating its attributes and making it far deadlier than usual.
From what the episode implied, the user has to be driving the Stand for it to work, which could be an issue. It’s not entirely a Murder Stand (it provides off-road capabilities -- and even vertical surface scaling), so there’s quite a bit of bonus there. (This really should be The Chariot [Silver Chariot doesn’t fit that card anyway].)
17 - Strength (Forever the Orangutan): Stand attaches to a small boat and turns it into a giant tanker. Like Wheel of Fortune, can manipulate any part of the ship. Unlike Wheel of Fortune, can merge/phase the user through its parts.
You’d think I’d rank this lower because it’s water-based, but since it can work on a lifeboat and Forever is an Orangutan, there’s no reason why Forever couldn’t carry a boat around (sneakily), activate the Stand, and then go to town in a town. It’s big, it’s lethal, and it’s easy for the user to hide while killing people. Its just a little too specific to get much use. And, well, you’ve got the user. (”Strength” because of the user.)
16 - Death 13 (Mannish Boy): nightmare; clownish grim reaper kills people in their dreams Freddy Krueger-style. Upon waking, targets who manage to survive do not remember what happened in their dreams without taking extra precautions while asleep. Stand users cannot use their Stands if the Stand was inactive prior to the dream.
If you want to get away with murder some of the time, this might work. Most of the Stand’s abilities are designed for the user to escape attention, but there are two major problems. First, anyone killed in the dream manifests the injuries they receive on their waking bodies, which tend to be gruesome. Second, it’s an incredibly short-range Stand without much developmental potential. If Mannish Boy were to avoid using it much, he could survive to adulthood, but his presence at the scenes of his murders would eventually be his undoing.
15 - Bastet (Mariah): Stand creates an electrical outlet that shocks targets who get too close, thereby magnetizing them. This magnetism grows in strength over time, eventually leading to death from dangerous metal objects impaling or crushing the target. Can affect multiple targets simultaneously.
It’s not entirely clear how close Mariah has to be for this to work, but it’s farther than Death 13. Since the conditions for this Murder Stand are easier to meet, it’s slightly better. There might be added utility to the magnetism, but that’s dubious. Still, the range is close enough that it should be easy to catch Mariah in the act and the Schmuck Bait gimmick is too silly. It’s also unclear if non-Stand users can see it, so it might have less utility than Death 13, but I’m assuming as the sort of Stand it is that they can. (Bastet = cat = curiosity killed the cat.)
14 - Empress (Nena): parasitic growth latches onto target, growing and attacking them until finally killing them.
I strongly suspect that there’s more that someone could do with this Stand than simply killing people (or getting them into trouble), but we don’t see that at all during this episode. Since it’s a physical Stand, even though it’s not technically alive, it’s easier to attack than most Stands and thus remains a liability to its user. (The whole episode has a lot of father-child talk, referring to the fact that the Empress has much to do with fertility and pregnancy.)
13 - Geb (N’Doul): water elemental with incredible range.
In 3.x terms, this isn’t even summon nature’s ally II, which is the earliest available summon that can summon a Water Elemental. The reason is that the smallest elementals in the core rules are all Small and this one is Tiny. It makes up for its size by being deadlier than usual (it might have vorpal attacks, but then again it is JoJo, so it’s hard to say), but it’s not considered a powerful Stand (Destructive Power is C). Its fairly fast, but its main strength is its range: N’Doul was able to command it at a distance of four kilometers (2.5 miles) when attacking Team Joestar, which is insane. (Despite being a water elemental, it’s named after the Egyptian god of the Earth because N’Doul, a blind Stand user, uses Tremorsense.)
12 - Lovers (Steely Dan): microscopic Stand can invade people’s bodies, transmitting and amplifying its user’s pain to them.
This Stand has fantastic potential that’s left unanswered: how much damage can it cause on its own? The episode revolves around Lovers planting spores of DIO’s flesh buds inside brains, leading to death, but given its size and ability to manipulate brain cells, one would think that this thing could cause heart attacks, strokes, severe brain damage, and various other major (or minor) conditions. The range on it and the sorts of deaths it might be able to cause would make it much better at assassination than Death 13 or Bastet. However, it’s not clear what the limits of this Stand’s powers are. I’ve ranked it here for potential, but it might be unable to do all of that. (No, the name doesn’t really fit here, either.)
11 - Tenore Sax (Kenny G.): mirage arcana.
We don’t see this Stand (at all), only its effects, and Kenny G gets killed very quickly (no fight), so who knows? That said, mirage arcana is a fairly high level spell, hence the ranking.
10 - Anubis (various): intelligent sword which provides its wielder with exceptional speed and skill; can phase through matter selectively and learn enemy techniques.
Anubis is pretty standard as far as evil weapons possessing people go, save that it also learns any attack used against it the first time it sees it and afterward can perfectly counter that ability. This makes it a difficult foe to defeat in general; the fact that it can choose to ignore any matter it chooses (though apparently not Stands) is just icing on that cake. However, as it is attached to a sword, it is susceptible to anything that would damage or destroy its “body.”
9 - Yellow Temperance (Rubber Soul): ooze. Invulnerable to damage, devours anything it touches as it wishes. Can coat user to grant imperviousness and disguises (as disguise self).
As Khnum, but also a perfect defense and a fantastic offense. Its main issues are that it requires sustenance, it has limited range, and the trick to defeating it is to separate it from its user and then attack the user directly, which is easier than attacking a Stand in general anyway. (I guess having a defense is temperate, right?)
8 - High Priestess (Midler): imp-like Stand can merge with minerals, growing in size the closer it gets to its user.
Vulnerable to Star Platinum, but otherwise this is an incredibly useful Stand: it’s both a reconnaissance Stand and a Punch Ghost Elemental. As a long-range Stand that can merge with any mineral, any deaths it causes would be difficult to pin on the user (they could all be accidents and the user wouldn’t be suspect). (The only similarity to the High Priestess is in gender.)
7 - Horus (Pet Shop): cryokinesis.
Pet Shop demonstrates a variety of techniques with this Stand (similar to how Abdul has many uses for Magician’s Red), so it may as well be “any spell with the [Cold] descriptor.” (It’s “Horus” because the user is a falcon.)
6 - Hanged Man (J. Geil): light-based Stand attacks from reflections.
It was utterly implausible how they defeated this one, given that it’s able to move at the speed of light from one reflection to another. Mainly a Murder Stand, but plausibly a reconnaissance one, as well. (Not sure how this is the Hanged Man. I guess because it’s limited in where it can go.)
5 - Judgment (Cameo): “Grants wishes” (uses an improved form of fabricate to create perfect copies of whatever its targets wants [down to memories and bits of personality for people] out of clay, but subverts the wishes)
Tumblr media
There’s a lot of potential here, with the main limit being the durability of the materials used. That said, one wonders if there are other limits to its ability. Could it fabricate a functional death ray or a supercomputer? (Personally, I think this should have been Khnum, given that Khnum is a potter. It’s probably “Judgment” [as in “Last Judgment”] because Polnareff wishes for his sister to be resurrected.)
4 - Osiris (Daniel J. D’Arby [the Elder]): Steals the souls of those who admit defeat, storing them as coins/poker chips.
Soul bind (a 9th-level spell) as a spell-like ability (so no focus component - ordinarily an expensive gem), used by a professional gambler (so someone with an incredibly high Bluff/Deception). Yeah, it’s a Murder Stand, but it’s one that’s going to make the user very wealthy. (Osiris as lord of the underworld, so souls.)
3 - Atum (Terrence D. D’Arby [the Younger]): Steals the souls of those who admit defeat, storing them in dolls; can read an opponent’s soul (mind), answering yes or no questions.
As Osiris, but also with a faster-acting (but limited) form of detect thoughts. There’s so much potential here, it’s almost terrifying. (Atum doesn’t really fit here. Anubis might, but Anubis wasn’t part of the actual Ennead anyway.)
2 - Justice (Enya the Hag): air elemental manifests as city-spanning fog (as control weather rather than fog cloud), providing mirage arcana and veil to anything and anyone in the area (but selectively); can control bodies (living or deceased) through its tendrils entering wounds; gaseous, so impervious to damage.
As Tenore Sax, but it does way more. Its animate dead-style ability provides total control over corpses in the area without actually being necromancy (it’s actually control body, but seems to work on any type of body so long as it has been wounded). The only thing it lacks is the ability to attack, despite having claws. Still, when you have several spells as spell-like abilities usable over a vast area without the standard limitations those spells ordinarily have and one of those gives you minions, it’s not like you need to be able to attack. In theory, this should have been one of the most powerful Stands in the entire series; the only way Team Joestar defeated it was through shenanigans which made no sense (Star Platinum inhaling the Stand, causing Enya to black out -- because Stands have lungs). (”Justice” because Enya uses it for revenge.)
1 - Cream (Vanilla Ice): Stand’s mouth is a portal to a dimension of darkness. Anything the Stand swallows is destroyed by portal cut (as disintegrate). The Stand can swallow itself and its user without harm, removing them from this reality (as etherealness) and disintegrating anything else which comes in contact with it (as an orb of annihilation).
Invisible. Almost undetectable. Intangible. Wholly destructive. The invisibility comes with the drawback of having to be careful while moving if wanting to go entirely undetected, but that’s not a major drawback. While ethereal, the user doesn’t seem to be able to see where it’s going, though this is inconsistent.

Akiyo Nagano, Atsuko Ishizuka, and Akira Himekawa Discuss Being a Woman in the Anime and Manga Industry!
This year’s Crunchyroll Expo was a blast with plenty of amazing panels and premieres! We had the chance to sit in on the Women in Anime and Manga Panel, featuring the Legend of Zelda manga series author duo Akira Himekawa, animation director Atsuko Ishizuka, whose work includes No Game No Life and many more, and Akiyo Nagano, the creator of Bananya!
During the panel, these industry professionals talked about their personal experiences in the industry, challenges (and benefits!) of being a woman in the anime industry, fielded questions from the audience, generally shared their overall knowledge with the lucky listeners. If you weren’t able to attend Crunchyroll Expo, don’t worry, because below we’ve got the full deets of what these talented ladies had to say! Read on to see what their childhood dreams were and if they match where they are now, how to get free cake, challenges of being a woman in the anime industry, and their advice to women looking to get started in anime.
Could you please introduce yourselves and tell us what you do?Akira Himekawa: The two of us (A. Honda and S. Nagano) are Akira Himekawa. We’re the force behind the Legend of Zelda manga series for the last 20 years. Atsuko Ishizuka: I’m Atsuko Ishizuka and I’m the animation director for anime like No Game No Life, A Place Further Than the Universe, and more!Akiyo Nagano: I’m Akiyo Nagano, the creator and designer of Bananya. I did the designs for the characters in the anime, manga and the goods. Thank you very much for having me!
How long has everyone been working in their profession? And how did you all get started?AH: Since the two of us debuted, it’s been 30 years! The two of us have different reasons why we started, but we were both influenced by watching anime and reading manga as children.AI: I checked up on my bio myself earlier, and I realized that I’ve been in the industry for 15 years. I thought I was much younger, but we all got old. (laughs) When I was in college and I was looking for jobs, I interviewed at Madhouse, and I’m currently employed there.AN: I was employed within my company, and since then, I’ve become a freelancer, but it’s been about 6 years. In college, I studied to make illustrations, and I worked hard to join the current company I’m working with, and since then, I’ve been focused on making illustrations.
Was this what you always wanted to do when you were a kid?AH: Of course, we were born around the time anime started to appear on TV more, like Osamu Tezuka’s Astro Boy, and it pushed us to become manga artists.AN: When I was young, I used to mimic styles from shoujo manga. Once I joined my company, I didn’t draw in the cute style that I do now, so I had to learn and work to change my style to be cute for my current work. AI: As a child, I wasn’t that interested in anime and manga. In fact, the only one I knew and followed was Doraemon! I actually play music ,and I wanted to become a musician, so I surprised my parents when I told them when I was going to become an animator. One more thing: I love Doraemon and I have the same birthday as him, which is September 3rd!
Could you share insights as to how you overcame difficulties at your job?AH: The topic of this panel is “Women in the Anime Industry”, right? And I speak for all of us as women in the industry, even though we work in a separate professions and offices, in the manga world, it’s very separated. We have shoujo and shounen manga, and even the magazines that publishes them are different. Men would be required to take stories targeted for boys and women would be required to take the ones targeted for girls. It was really hard to get into the industry! We debuted with a shonen title, and while we love shounen manga, but we didn’t expect to enter that side of the industry. 20 years ago, it was more difficult getting into the shonen manga side of things, but now you see a lot more ikemen stuff and women are getting into shonen manga more! It has gotten a lot easier now than, say, 30 years ago! It’s totally different now! Since more girls are getting into shounen manga, it’s easier for us to draw for shounen manga.AI: In the anime industry, there would be similar challenges. But when I got started, anime was something that was watched by equally by boys and girls, and men and women. So, in terms of working towards a target audience, it wasn’t a hard challenge for me. For me, the biggest challenge is the work environment. I’m a studio employee, and we work in a department where do creative work, which is a team effort because it’s animation, so our work hours were very irregular. Sometimes I would work long hours into the mornings, and if you are a woman, you might know that keeping your makeup on all around the clock in the office is a very, very hard thing to do! (laughs) Also, I’m expected to have just as much stamina as men do, which is another challenge. However, there is one reward to this kind of lifestyle: I never get jet lagged, so that’s why I’m awake and alert for this panel right now! (everyone laughs and claps) And it’s true that there tends to be more men in positions, such as directors, but in recent years, now there’s more women coming into the studio to work, so the office smells better! (everyone laughs)AN: In my industry of being a designer for goods and stationary, it’s the opposite problem; in our office, we have only 2 guys, which is very refreshing, since they entered our world! But on the other hand, we want our goods to continuously evolve and to get a new refreshing vibe into the goods that people might want to buy and use. Which is why we want new people to come into the illustration field to enrich and bring more joy to people who are using our products.
Do you feel that there is a difference compared to a man working in your same field?AI: It’s a tough question to answer, but since I work with a studio that has more animators that are men, the women members tend to be more supportive of men. But for me, it’s kind of different, because once you are in the position of a director, the men think that you might be lacking the stamina that men might have, so that you might need more support, and then they’ll go and provide that support.
Have you found that helpful?AI: Yes, definitely! If I say that I’m hungry, then someone buys me cake! (everyone laughs)AH: Right now, we work in our own studio, but when we work with the editors, they’re all men. We used to work with a lot of older men, but they’ve gotten a lot younger! (laughs) It was a struggle working with them, but we learned how understand each other and work together.
Is there a difference between working with male or female editors?AH: Of course there’s a difference. At Shonen Sunday, the editors were mostly male, who are better for advice on action scenes and shonen. But when it came to relationships and love advice, female editors would fare better at that kind of advice.AN: Like I mentioned earlier, since there are only 2 men at our office, I had the benefit of getting input from my female co-workers. But the great part is that they weren’t separate from us in any way, so they did their best to advise on cute stuff. We all bonded over the idea of cuteness, so actually everyone really got along and are really supportive of one another. The cuteness of our products kinda brought everyone together!AI: Kawaii is justice! (everyone laughs and claps)
You all have been working in your respective industries for several years now, have there been any changes in the industry since then that you’ve seen? Is there anything that you would want to change about the industry?AH: (From Honda-san) Right now, I’m very happy to be able to come overseas and have connections like this and talk to you all! I don’t really want to change anything!
(From Nagano-san): In the industry, shoujo manga is mainly created by women, while shonen manga is mostly created by men, but are some men also create shoujo manga and the amount of women who create shonen manga increased a good amount. Thinking about my own work and trying to get that published has been difficult, but being in this industry, we haven’t really thought that far to change the industry itself. Personally, our readers are 50/50 boys and girls, so we don’t worry about that in that point and time. AI: As for myself, there’s been an increase of female directors, so it’s my personal wish and hopeful new trend in the anime industry that we get a bigger budget! Please give us more money! AN: I’m not too sure about making changes to the industry where I work, but since I work in pretty much the kawaii industry, I’d like to have more guys to work with us as well! I’d like to continue to draw more cute characters, but with the support of guys in our industry, while trying to make some products for boys as our target audience.
What’s your favorite part of your job? AI: For me, I work with a lot of people, so when we’re done animating, we do our daily checks, and when we see our work done and in animated form, we get to applaud all our hard work. This is the thing that keeps me going!AH: I’m jealous that as a director you get to share and understand your work with your staff so well! In our case, our work is being bought all over the world, and we’re very thankful and happy that it’s being received so well! We’re really happy to be able to do this!AN: For me, personally, because I draw so many cute characters that is aimed at a younger audience, I really appreciate that the kids really love our characters and use the products that we sell, like our stationary. For our manga magazine that we publish, we have fan art submission contests, we’d get Bananya fan art with messages like “I love Bananya!”, and getting to read those messages make me happy to be working on what I’m doing because I’m making people happy!
What advice would you give to women looking into working in the industry?AN: For me, before debuting in this industry, I was extremely nervous! In addition to all the drawing and practice that I’ve been doing on different types of illustrations, I also had friends who introduced me to the great people in the industry that were really supportive. Basically, don’t only work on your talent, but also value the connections with people that you have, because that might take you where you want to go.AI: Going into the industry, you really need to be able to communicate with people, and you need to never give up on your drawing skills too! You need to increase the number of people you can talk to, and be able to hone your ability to be able to communicate with them. In addition, stamina is a non-negotiable asset; you need to keep up your health, which is invaluable! Also, remember you’re going into the entertainment industry to make people happy, so if you’re a woman, remember to wear makeup so they will cherish you more! (everyone laughs) And remember to use foundation that lasts 24 hours! (laughs)AH: As girls, I think you should show your appeal or charm; be yourself! In this industry as women, you really have to have a strong heart. You have to be very confident and believe in yourself!
As the panel came to a close, we got a surprise: the day after was Ishizuka-san’s birthday, so we all sang her happy birthday! She happily exclaimed “I love you!” to the crowd, providing a fun and vibrant ending to an insightful panel. Hopefully their words of encouragement and advice will speak to women who want to work in the anime field, or any profession, to follow their dreams, and we hope to see all of them again someday at Crunchyroll Expo with new stories and projects!
