Ranking Yugioh’s Main Girls on Hairstyle Plausibility

Because I already roasted the main boys, let’s not let people assume I have a bias toward either gender. Rest assured if you’re a YGO character and your hair is dumb, you’re getting roasted for it, male, female or otherwise.

Also notice how I said “main girls” and not “love interests.” That’s because ASUKA IS NOT JUDAI’S LOVE INTEREST. I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL.

Maybe it’s different for Alexis and Jaden but I don’t know them, I know Asuka and Judai and while she may have been implied to have a crush on him, he had no interest in her and is canonically with Yubel by the end of the series. You’re absolutely allowed to ship them, I ship a lot of non-canon stuff, but it is non-canon. I don’t like regulating Asuka to “love interest” just because she’s a girl and interacts with Judai. Anyways, speaking of-

1 Asuka

Shockingly, Asuka’s hair is completely normal. I had a flimsy argument for Judai but this time I really can’t find anything to criticise. The colour is basically light brown and it’s shaped like actual hair you might see on a person. I have to say, Asuka’s hair is pretty flawless.

Now if only the same could be said about her character in Arc V-

2 Aoi

Okay so… I’ve actually got nothing on Aoi. She looks so normal I can’t even find her among the crowd, unless she’s in her Blue Angel form. In which case I just look for the flying blue bananas.

3 Anzu

A perfect design: as bland and boring as she is. Actually, no, if you wanted to be completely accurate, her hair should be shaped like the word “friendship.” That or Yami’s muscles. Like girl, did you think about anything else all series? You had over 200 episodes worth of chances to have an actual personality, some characters get half as much and have far more depth. Anzu’s entire presence in the series could be replaced by a sexy leg lamp with a button that plays friendship speeches and nothing would’ve changed.

4 Aki

Oh gosh… okay, you can do this. You roasted your beloved Judai no problem. Aki should be no trouble. *deep breath*

Your hair is the same as the roses you grow, soft and vibrant and beautiful. No thorns could ever take away from that. You light up the earth with your beauty.

General opinion: I like him! probably one of my A tier zexal characters. solid character but did not give me a disease. Ship I like: ok so this is probably really off the wall but two of my mutuals wrote this fic with kaito/astral and got me way more invested in that pairing. if there's a ship name for them i forget </3 Non-romantic pairing: i love a good non-romantic reading of astral and yuma. i'm pretty neutral on romantic keyship (like i am with most pairings tbh). Ship I like: this is another situation where i don't really have one but a lot of galaxymaster art is cute and also involves dragons so. that's cool Non-romantic pairing: him and jinlon. i love human and dragon partnerships what can i say NOTP: don't have one! Something that makes me think of them: my ultimate rare tachyon dragon card from the set it came out in i got as a gift one year and thought i lost but found buried in my dresser still completely intact. it sits safely in the first page of my card binder now with all my other favorites.

Hmmmm oh man. I hate to cop out, but I feel like most fandoms I'm in I'm just a "You do you" kinda fan, so I don't really feel strong enough to pick a character haha No character I have felt strongly about has been wrong by too many people.

Omg, well, we gotta go back to puzzleshipping for this one haha I love the idea of a Yugi top. So my argument is Atem wouldn't be a top :) Most put Atem as top but I think he absolutely loves Yugi being the one in control (in my opinion~).

God I don't want to touch this one hahaha My copout answer is any incest ship and I hide those tags for a reason. Which they are far more prevalent in so many fandoms I like it's...yeah no thanks.

8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

This will be for Mob Psycho. I don't mind that people make ??? and Mob/Shigeo separate personalities (there are some AMAZING fics that do it, and they are fantastic!) , but I find it toes the line of...diminishing the final chapter, in a way. The whole point is for him to be one, complete whole being. I think adding on a distinct personality to ???...remove from the fact that ??? is, in the end, Shiego. The end of Mob Psycho was him accepting that part of himself. That part that was a little twisted, angry, and upset. And I think keeping them as separate, kinda removes that impact of that growth by Shigeo to accept the negative and more intense sides of himself.

Ahhhhh I am old I had to look up what this was haha I really don't know..maybe Mob to an extent? He is flawed in so many ways, and his flaws make him who he is. I've read some fics that take away his flaws a bit too much for my liking.

I wasn't that into TeruMob when I watched and finished Mob Psycho, but I've really come around to it over the last month or so. It's really cute and wholesome! And I'm kinda eating up the fanart rn I feel like it's within the realm of reality with cannon Mob and Teru's personalities. I am in the bucket that Mob wouldn't get into that headspace for awhile though, he has a lot to figure out on his own post-cannon.

Again I'm such a passive person my cop out answer is, I think most complaints are valid haha Especially about Mob Psycho. Like the complaints about certain decisions Bones made in the anime. I didn't read the manga so I can't add to the discussion, but most of the points make sense. it sucks when certain things are not included that feel important to the story.

I also (biased anime-only watcher) love Mob Psycho anime and I will love it forever.

Firstly, hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. :D I'm so glad that you ship Kizuna too, omgssssssssss. I've been here so long, and a new Kizunashipper around is just great. (New friend maybe???) I'm always excited to interact with a familiar reader and a Kizuna fan. QwQ Just knowing you exist makes the past three years in rarepair hell worth it. So thank you so much for reading my fics, whether it's a dozen or just one!!! And I'm glad to see you in my notifs tooooooooooo, omgs. \(^3^)/

Second, to answer your question: Kizuna was not my first 5D's ship because as you pointed out, Crow doesn't show up yet until halfway through S1, so my first choice was Kingcrab because I love childhood friends to lovers trope very much. Also, I love their dragons and how much they contrast each other; the details in the character design makes me melt. I love Jack and Yūsei; however, when Crow finally showed, I just went THAT ONE, lmao. My favorite type of characters include tough redheaded characters with happy-go-lucky attitudes who wear headbands (shout out to Lavi Bookman and Kyan Reki!!! And also Kagami Taiga because I love him too!!!)

The thing was though, even when I first saw him and got into him (immensely), I was actually on the fence about adding him with Kingcrab. I think it was because I only had a little experience with polyshipping prior, but the love was growing quickly. My first few Kizuna fics were actually gen. Whatever their relationship is like they are definitely cute and they love each other!

Then I had this epiphany and created the headcanon that Crow is a genderfluid he/him dfab, and then I wrote a Kizuna smut piece and then I wrote ~100 Kizuna fics and now we're here. I dropped through that pipeline fast and hard. That headcanon is my most favorite YGO headcanon, and it really opened a lot of door for exploring Kizuna and their relationship. My Kizuna fics have some of my best writing currently, lmaolololol, because I just wrote so much for them. (When you write a bunch, something is bound to be actually good, you know?) And the thing about that Crow headcanon? People actually like it. :) That makes me super happy.

Though I only have a handful of regular readers, I very much appreciate them all and recognize most of them. ^^ What more, I had two people reach out to me because of my writing, and we became good friends. 🥺🥺🥺🥺 I'm think I'm doing pretty good with Kizuna.

I can accept that as a hc for your muse if it's a canon character. I do not own said character if it's not an OC. But I cannot bring that into rps for MINE. Because I REFUSE to have a background I was not part of. Therefore ALL OC's are strangers to mine. The only exception is if I talk the muns beforehand and we come to an arrangement.

FLUFF, ANGST OR SMUT: I write all. I am very good with fluff and angst the most though. Smut doesn't happen very often but I can and do write it. I just prefer clean smut or fading to black because I am SENSITIVE to certain sexual things. Most images are a no go unless it's... Covered enough for me not to be uncomfortable. Or if it's a ship I just so happen to like but you must ASK before showing it to me.)

PLOTS OR MEMES: I'm fine with either but I usually wing stuff. Plots are fine though.

I am oc friendly, and crossover friendly. I am very flexible with my muses, so I am more than willing to bend some things of their backstories and personalities to fit the needs of a crossover series/thread, just shoot me a message if you are interested. I am familiar with YGO and most of it’s spinoffs, FMA (both 03 and Brotherhood), Soul Eater, and Demon Slayer/KnY, and Pokemon. I have specified verse versions of my muses for the previously listed franchises.

This is a multi-muse blog, my default muse is Isabel. However, if I feel either of my other muses are better suited for first time interactions, I will use Carmon, Setanta, or Scheza as a lead.

Shipping is not a requirement with me, I will not pressure or force anyone into ships. My muses tend to be attracted to chemistry based ships. If you are interested in shipping with either Isabel or Carmon, please message me! I’d be happy to figure something out.

Physical description: Reza stands at 5'9 and has a fairly lean and fit body with black hair that reaches just past his shoulders and electric blue eyes. He typically wears clothes that fall under an androgynous punk/alt style, including leather harnesses, plenty of belts, collars and chokers, several wristbands and rubber bracelets, spikes, chains, etc. He also wears makeup fairly often, mostly a lot of eyeliner and exaggerated lips. He likes to stand out.

Personality description: He's a pretty laid back guy, and they love kids. As the eldest of 6, they grew up taking care of kids, and so that carries over often. They may seem like they're talking down to people, but they may actually just be trying to deescalate or teach something to someone. He's very kind, but he's also very blunt at times. He doesn't hold his thoughts about things to himself, and if he doesn't like you, you'll know. They try to help everyone, regardless of how they feel about you, too, and this often leads to them burning themselves out. They're also a very fast learner, though they tend to put things off until the last minute.

Background: As a child, Reza was a very gifted child. He was consistently ahead of his peers. However, he was not very active, other than playing games with their younger siblings as they came along. This led to a lot of bullying as a child, and not just from his peers. His siblings were harsh, as siblings are, and his parents did little to stop this. This led to his developing a few different mental illnesses he still struggles with. Despite knowing that the things he's struggling with aren't good for him, he refuses to seek therapy. He went to public school for the majority of his life in a small town near the coasts of Japan, but he eventually moved to Domino for college and better work opportunities. He now studies behavioral sciences and game design, and aspires to be a child psychologist and create games to promote good mental health and habits to build for a healthy lifestyle. He still keeps contact with his family often, despite the verbal abuse from his siblings and lackluster parenting.

34. What activities does your character do when they’re not doing Saints business?

I'm guessing this is activities as in hobbies etc. not Activities which would come under Saints stuff?

I feel like obviously the Saints hang out just watching tv/movies and drinking/getting high a lot. So whenever that's an option, she'll take it because honestly she does have this constant fear of abandonment that frames her interactions with her friends. I mean that both in the sense of making the most of it and also feeling like she can't let them down even on the occasions she could probably do with some alone time.

Casey's also pretty good at poker. I did make a mention before of the time she won one of Pierce's tournaments because she had terrible cards but couldn't stop smiling all night, but that aside I think she's already really good by that point. She generally has that pretty chill facade and is used to hiding her emotions, plus, if she's playing with people she doesn't know, it's even better as they're very likely to underestimate her intelligence because of the way she talks. One might even speculate that the way she goes from desperately wanting people to realise she's not an idiot to realising that it can be useful at times may be something she realised partially through playing.

She still likes to practice shooting even when she's not doing that at work, she even builds a shooting range in her own home on Ragnarok/New Earth. Now the thing about this one is that generally, Casey does not enjoy physical violence out of work so much, she prefers to wind down from all that. But she enjoys target practice at all times, she gets a big sense of achievement out of it. She has a preference for doing this with Johnny because of the high standard of competition involved and in fact until her friendship with Matt develops, her target practice with Johnny is about the only regular (she does other stuff e.g. shopping with Pierce but it's more occasional/sporadic) one-on-one friend time she has.

I feel like sex should be mentioned as it takes up a fair enough chunk of her time. She has a high sex drive and while she obviously could deal with things by herself in that respect, perhaps more crucially she isn't fully comfortable with non-sexual intimacy for a long time. Did I just say she fucks everyone because she needs a hug? Yes, she fucks everyone because she needs a hug. My point is, 2-3 one night stands a week is time consuming. Granted sometimes calling up a sex worker can speed things up but by the time she has enough money to regularly do that she's also somewhat famous so has to weigh up the risks of that being found out.

She was a big, big fan of Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic the Gathering in her teens, but none of the original Saints are into that and later on she's kind of embarrassed about it and doesn't ask. She does get back into MTG after the Forbidden Planet trip and teaches Matt. They start with the most basic thrown together decks then build on them together until they are able to reasonably challenge each other. She likes board games but I feel like there were several incidents pre-therapy that mean no-one wants to play with her anymore, even though as she matures she would take it way less seriously. I think various board games are brought out on the ship. She is fascinated with various tabletop games as she peeked some at YGO/MTG tournaments but has never actually played any.

Then when she's alone... reading! Big one! Obviously I make a big deal out of Jane Austen bc she is her favourite but the Brontes are a very close second, and like most avid readers, though she does have her favourites, she is always reading something new when she gets the chance. Unfortunately that's not generally the case for a long time because those moments of complete calm are rare. After SRIV she has a lot more free time (and the ability to time jump for books) to the point where Zinbir, one of my antagonists suggests"...your only capability; that of running around shooting people, has been replaced by sitting around on a spaceship reading books." (but fuck him tbh). But the main reason she has the time to do that is because I feel like she finally learns to say no to hanging with everyone all the time because it's hard enough to all get along in that living situation without being together 24/7.

36. What diversions did your character like to do in Steelport and Stilwater? Which ones did they avoid?

Again, I'm guessing specifically just diversions? I love this question bc I have to think about what the character would enjoy not just what I do.

I feel like in SR she really likes tagging but she is not an artist, half the time in my hc it's probably just a smiley/angry/sad face, a dick and her pseudonym. She starts off doing it again post-coma but when she actually processes the fact she is suddenly not a teenager anymore she finds it kind of embarrassing.

I think she mugs people but not quite as we see in game. Honestly I like anything to do with stealing stuff with Casey, it's a random trait I apply across universes. She's not the stealthiest though, that's why it's hilarious. She'd pickpocket someone and they'd totally notice and she'd just be like yeah I took your wallet, I also have a gun, like... where do you want to go with this? You'd think theft would be on my list on this basis but I doubt she's great with safecracking tbh.

Combat tricks are a diversion right? I feel like you can only kill so many people before you start wanting to get a little creative. I can see her saying, right, today I am shooting everyone in the balls. Whether they have balls or not.

I also think it would be really, really funny if she's not usually into collecting things but it's something she gets incredibly into when she's high. That said in 4 she doesn't really have the ability to get high and she still likes collecting clusters when she's bored. I think this is because obviously she gets to use the super powers to get them and plus the habit of collecting things maybe just stuck.

Once she has worked out her strengths she avoids racing, stunt jumps, anything involving a car bc she can't fucking drive... she only gets driving stunts by accident 🤣 I don't think she much likes photo ops in 3 as I make it clear she sees fame as a necessary evil most of the time. She's also terrible at those tower jump things in 4. Maybe if she wasn't wearing heels all the time that'd help. Also, although it's fun in-game, realistically I think she should be a complete fail at like 90% of store hacking.

41. Name the top three Saints your character got along with the least.

Ooh difficult!

I feel like Oleg and Casey have a pretty meh relationship overall. This kind of goes back to the recognising intelligence thing. He does respect her as a leader, but he doesn't really see her as an intellectual, because I guess she's not really. He seems genuinely surprised when she shows brief moments of linguistic prowess or brilliance in problem solving for example. I think they get along just fine for work but they don't form the sort of close friendship she does with a lot of the other Saints. Which is a shame because I like Oleg and his dynamic with some of the other Saints a lot.

Angel... I don't know if this is because Angel is such a meh character to me or what. But I feel like they barely knew each other especially as I see him as so super focused on Killbane throughout SR3 so they never really got to connect. Since Casey saves Shaundi, I always see Angel and Killbane kind of disappearing off into the sunset together. Idk, I like the idea of a love so passionate it resembles hate and vice versa. I don't necessarily know which is them. Unless I decide I want to do something with them later, they are presumed dead though.

Finally I'd say maybe Keith. Because just thinking back to the dynamics in the white house and on board the ship, they just don't make that kind of connection. Plus I think he thinks she doesn't take anything seriously enough. Like Oleg he doesn't bother her enough to scratch the surface, which is fair. Not everyone wants to have to unwrap every layer of someone just to make a friend.

I think this is the thing, Casey has Saints she argues with more and less and has her ups and downs with. Also sometimes her personal and work relationships with one person manifest very differently. But she's still with them, interacting, keeping them close. It's the ones who she doesn't make the effort with or who don't make the effort with her that I class as her not getting along with.

to actually enjoy writing again! in 2021 and the first bit of 2022, writing became yet another obligation for me to get done, and i tried to be fine with it by justifying it as being the one thing that was an obligation i had to myself as opposed to everything else. which is ofc obviously a totally normal and perfectly reasonable way to approach something

i finally had to bully myself into just flat-out Not Writing—not opening or looking at or starting anything until i actually wanted and was looking forward to writing again. which is a point i’ve reached, thank fuck, so this year i really want to approach writing as a thing i actually enjoy and something i can do for myself in the midst of the rest of the shitshow i have going on

I’m just gonna list YGO ships for now, since that’s my current fixation. I really really love Puzzleshipping (Yugi x Yami(Atem), Deathshipping (Ryou x Yami Marik), Rivalshipping (Yugi x Seto), and Boundshipping (Yugi x Thief King Bakura). I know, I know, most of my favorite ships involve Yugi in some way.

If we are talking polyships, I’ve been delighting in Radicalshipping (Yugi x YMarik x YBakura), Mobiumshipping (Yugi x Yami x Atem), and Fealtyshipping (Yugi x Henry x Timaeus). I know all these involve Yugi too.

I love him. Yugi is my ship whore. Orz

Anyway, those are all the ships I’ve sought out for reading recently. Or mused fondly about.

As far as tags I love and seek out, hmmmm. That’s tough, I don’t normally search by tags. But things I like in fics include: horror, soft horror, fluff, cuddling, characters being sweet with each other, magical creatures like dragons, nagas, demons, sphinxes, urmahlullus, werecats, mermen, etc. romance, all the romance, especially human/monster romance, lots of kissing, pining, oblivious idiots in love, happy endings, stuff like that.

If we are talking more nsfw tags I like reading: consent, biting, rough sex, consensual hypnotism, heat/mating cycles (but not in the context of ABO fics. I’m not much into abo fics.) basically I like heat/mating cycle fics but when the characters still have agency, I like when they have choice, self control and willpower.

Things I try to avoid and are squicks for me are: non-con, chloroform (I know this is oddly specific but it’s been an issue before), abuse, excessive or gratuitous angst, and torture.

I know this was quite a bit of things but I wanted to be thorough. I hope this provides enough information though. Thanks for the ask.

How many works do you have on AO3? 15. I use to be a pretty profilic writer when I was a teenager (before AO3 thank fuck 😂) but I lost interest. Picked it up again somewhere in my 20s, only to lose interest or the drive or something again. Roswell's the first fandom I've written for in almost decade. Hopefully this time I'll be able to stick too it. Id' forgotten how much I enjoy writing. What’s your total AO3 word count? 233292. Most of that is from just the last year alone! Crazy! How many fandoms have you written for and what are they? Currently posted to AO3? Just three. Yu-Gi-Oh!, Captain America and Roswell New Mexico. If we're counting the stuff lost to long dead Yahoo groups or forgotten notebooks, or the stuff still on the internet because I can't remember my password but I will never own up to? Probably 8? With the addition of Gundam Wing, Sailor Moon, Digimon and Final Fantasy 7. There might have been more but I can't remember anymore. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? The 1-3 and 5 were co-written with @beautifulcheat 1. The Great New Mexico Fake-Off (Roswell, malexa, complete) Michael takes up baking after watching The Great British Bake Off and starts gifting his bakes to the people he loves. The alien is the skeptic. But the agents don't know he's an alien yet. hahah 4. Testing the Bonds (Captain America, Steve & Bucky) Bucky comes out to Steve during the war. 5. Petit Fours (Roswell, malexa, complete). Companion piece to Fake-Off. An assorted collection of text fics or short fics. Mostly about everyone else's reaction to how bad Michael is at keeping the secret that he's the one baking the cake. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? Hmmm looking over these fics, I realize that I don't really write angsty endings. I tend to like my angst with a happy ending, or a hopeful one. Whatever that might look like given the subject matter of the fic. So I guess the closet would be The Message (YGO, puppyshipping, complete). The fic starts after an incident of domestic violence. Jou is basically working through the horror/guilt he feels at what he's done. It's not a happy ending, but there's hope different decisions will be made. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? A New Year, A New Hope (Roswell, malex, complete) is entirely made up of marshmallows from start to finish, so likely that one. Fake-Off's also tooth rottingly sweet. Surprising no one I'm sure hahaha. I love happy endings so I write a lot of fics with those. Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written? Yes I do! I'm counting fusion fics as crossovers too. I *love* AUs in general. They're super fun. As for craziest.... well I've already mentioned Truth above, which is likely the craziest because of how ambitious it is. I both love and regret ever starting this monster. Have you ever received hate on a fic? Oh yeah definitely. hahaha One day people will figure out the back button. Do you write smut? If so what kind? Yeah but not a lot. I want to write more smut honestly but I have a hard time writing it. I don't have a problem with action scenes so it's all mental. Have you ever co-written a fic before? All the time. It's the best. Everything Kat and I write is just to amuse the other, makes writing so much fun. Also, she and I have opposite writing strengths and weakness so it really works out well. What’s your all time favorite ship? Er? I gotta choose just one? Seems kind of pointless to pit different fandoms against each other. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? I mean I have every intention of going back and finishing it but probably Six. A malex The Last of Us AU that I had a lot of grand ideas for but have lost all drive to finish. I do think that what's written can largely stand on its own as a 1 shot. One of these I'll go back edit it, give it a good "in conclusion" so to speak. XD What are your writing strengths? Hmm? Character voices/studies, I think. I like doing stream of consciousness a lot. What are your writing weaknesses? Everything. Kidding. Kidding. Probably smut and dialogue. Though I think I'm getting better at dialogue. Lately I've been getting the dialogue on paper before the descriptions. That use to not be the case! Yay! Improvement! What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? Use it sparingly and carefully. Most of your readers are probably not going to be able to read that language. The last thing you want is to confuse or annoy your readers. What was the first fandom you wrote for? Gundam Wing 🤣 All of those fics are lost to time and I'm totally ok with that. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written? I am proud of everything I've posted to AO3. Um... @beautifulcheat, @maeglinthebold @jocarthage, @tasyfa and anyone else who wants to do it.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

22 plus a small handful on ff.net that I still intend to move over to AO3.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

30,445!  I’m surprised it’s that much considering how short most of those stories are. (And it’s a little deceptive since it doesn’t include the 80k monstrosity that is Ryou and the Thief. That one’s probably going to stay on ff.net though.)

3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Those Things He Keeps for Himself (Total agreement. Personally I think this is the best thing I’ve written so far.)

Human (Was at #1 until very recently! I attribute this entirely to the story being on @shinayashipper’s Rivalshipping Rec List. Thank you Red! <3 )

Black (From when I wandered into Homestuck fanfic for a brief time! I’m still stupid proud of this one though.)

4. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

I do try to respond to everything! I so appreciate when other authors respond to me and do my best to return that good good energy. Also I genuinely like chatting with people (especially about something I wrote lol) even if I get overwhelmed sometimes and can be slow ^^; 

5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

This is a tough one cause when I start a story, it’s usually with the goal of giving the characters a happy end but it’s probably Coffee and Cigarettes. It was for a pairings competition where the random pairing was Mana/TK Bakura and I gave them a weird little break in the middle of canon where they both know what’s about to happen and it just came out sad.  NO WAIT I’M WRONG. Lol I just gave my story list another look and it’s definitely Crazy for You! That was an insane asylum AU that’s ABOUT everything going straight to shit.

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

Oh goodness, almost all of them! I love a happy ending. Like, the story doesn’t have to be all fluff, it can have an impossible looking problem or be about two people who just don’t go well together but I love a good, satisfying resolution. Most recent happy ending is No Betting, just a bit of adorable, domestic, peachshipping fluff. Favorite happy end is probably A Million Missed Chances, Mai/Valon. I feel like Mai is a challenging character to give a happy ending to. She’s just stubborn like that <3

7. Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?

So, I haven’t written a crossover yet by myself but @miss-moberg and I will often throw around ideas for ones where we will use YGO characters or parts of the world building or magic system to fix things we don’t like in other canons. Right now we have a RP that’s a BNHA/YGO crossover where… oh, spoilers for BNHA: instead of going crazy and faking his own death, Toya grabs both his brothers and just fucking leaves. They run away to Domino, get picked up by Ryou and Akeifa (TK Bakura) and it quickly becomes the found family story I didn’t know I needed. We do some wild things blending the two canons. Domino is this little pocket where shadow magic keeps the hero and villain nonsense out and the citizens are pretty ok with it. Yugi and Atem are the city’s guardians. Ryou and Akeifa are not allowed to use shadow magic though they have access to it. I think Ryou and Yugi had proper quirks that they sacrificed to the shadows at some point, each for something different thing that they wanted or needed. Oh! We have quirks being derived from shadow magic at some point in the distant past and the shadows are always happy to take a quirk back to fulfill a wish or desire. They’re tricky though and usually corrupting. Very classic fairytale where it’s a thing you don’t want to make a deal with. Seto is quirkless and basically runs the city behind the scenes. He can’t deny the existence of heroes and villains but still refuses to believe in magic. This always gives Atem a headache when they have to coordinate to protect the city. Which is often.

8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?

A couple criticisms but no outright hate I don’t think. Or if I have it was so long ago I don’t remember. I was on ff.net at the worst times too and somehow all the hate just passed me by.

9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?

I love smut so much but I rarely write it. For stories I just usually end up with one or two erotic sentences. RPs are the exceptions to that though and are where all the good stuff happens. >.>

10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Nope. Haven’t had one stolen, haven’t had one taken down. I’ve stayed small enough to fly under the radar for both things luckily enough!

11. Have you ever had a fic translated?

I wish! Man that would be amazing <3

12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yes! Ryou and the Thief is a cleaned up version of @miss-moberg and my very first RP. (And the only RP of ours to ever hit an actual ending.)

13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?

Puzzle with Gemshipping very close behind though I ship many, many things.

14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

Phoenix. It was one of my very first fanfics started almost 15 years ago and while I’d love to finish everything, that one’s just not going to happen. It’s been too long and I’ve grown way too much as a writer to go back to it now.

15. What are your writing strengths?

I think it’s dialogue. And maybe the ability to be amusing. Not funny-funny but like, lightly humorous when setting scenes or winding up to something.

16. What are your writing weaknesses?

RUN ON SENTENCES. Sometimes they get away from me a bit XD

17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

Haaaa, actually when I first started writing fanfic I would throw in Japanese phrases and honorifics and looking back, it’s pretty cringe. BUT I can appreciate it as it was originally intended: learning and practicing a new language. If it makes sense for the character or situation though it’s really cute, like in Allargando by Slaycinder where Atem uses Arabic endearments for Seto. (Have I gushed about that fic on my blog yet? It’s so good.) Ancient Egyptian is the exception to everything I just said. I absolutely LOVE when someone takes a stab at putting ancient Egyptian in their fic. I go a little feral for it and it was the hardest but the most fulfilling thing about writing Ryou and the Thief was doing all the research write actual AE dialogue for Akeifa early in the fic.

18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Yu-Gi-Oh. I’ve done a handful of things for other fandoms but Ygo is the one I keep coming back to and definitely the one I’ve written the vast majority for.

19. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

Oh no this is hard! They’re all my babies and I love them! Probably my favorites have been listed in previous questions already. Ryou and the Thief because of the sheer amount of work that went into it and the fact that we ran the boys through a whole ass adventure, Coffee and Cigarettes because it’s such a fun, quirky little thing with a great atmosphere and Those Things He Keeps For Himself because I feel like I was able to really capture the idea in my head effectively and there’s some great imagery in it.
