My only comment about the whole "we HAVE to keep quoting the unprofessional, contentious asshole that invariably derails everything into a controversy about them personally, because they're THE ONLY SCHOLAR OF FANDOM" debacle is...

Why do you think they're the only well-known scholar of fandom? Objectively untrue and easily verifiable if you throw a rock at academic circles.

Could it possibly be because the unprofessional, contentious asshole in question has a vested interest in maintaining the fiction that they're the only voice worth listening to when it comes to issues of fandom and racism?

Nah. Nah. It's a conspiracy, I'm sure.

Am I campaigning to have them deplatformed? Fuck no. We need more voices, not less.

And let me tell you, we need diverse voices that don't all agree with each other, because nothing gets academia rolling like having to respond to the asinine stupidity of an American pretending to be a global expert on something they have no real knowledge of.

But every time you run into someone who's morphed into brandishing "I am THE ONLY ONE" as part of their personal brand? Press X to doubt. Press X to doubt so hard you break the button.

I promise you, there's a scholarship if you look for it. There's many voices. There's many perspectives.

Distrust anyone who insists they're The Only One You Need.

Can they cry on command? If so, what do they think about to make it happen?

There are plenty of ways that Sun can make himself cry on command and many things he thinks about to do so. Hell, actually Sun doesn't really need things to think about to make himself cry and that's even stranger. BUT some of the things he does think about are just small things. Animals abandoned or something like that. If he wants to get deep, he'll think about all the lives he's tarnished. Not that he's never thinking about them but you know.

Do they give tough love or gentle love most often? Which do they prefer to receive?

Sun is someone who prefers gentle love, but he's someone who NEEDS tough love from time to time. Be gentle with him all the time and it's going to get into his head. He's someone that...is both depending on who he's talking to. He's not going to give tough love to someone that's already broken down. It depends on the scenario, the situation that's in front of him, and the person he's talking to.

If someone was impersonating them, what would friends / family ask or do to tell the difference?

iF someone was impersonating him....Hmmmmm, they'd probably ask the impersonator and Sun about his journey. How he met some of those people and stuff. HOWEVER, I guess if Monkey King, Magnolia, or anyone else who knows of his past asked him, they'd have to kind of...Find another thing to ask about Sun. Maybe his favorite color? Maybe something that only Sun and that other person would know. It's hard when it comes to Magnolia because she knows everything from how Sun came to be and everything of the aftermath and you know, others know Sun from the aftermath. It'd probably be hard to tell the difference even with questions asked or things done.

Who do they love truly, 100% unconditionally (if anyone)?

Sun loves all of the people close to him unconditionally and 100%. He'll give his everything to them if they ask. There's love with San as well, but he's beginning to wonder if it's meant to be. The universe has a funny way of separating them and he wonders if it's a sign that he needs to move on. perhaps he will....One day.

short sandduo au where wilbur’s an exhausted college student that just wants to get through this semester of work so that he can rest during winter break. the only thing that seems to keep him going through the struggles of upcoming papers, quizzes, and exams is his english professor, phil, who routinely schedules homework through “brain-relaxing activities.” aside from a few papers here and there on open topics, most of the homework is related to something that makes a person happy. subsequently, wilbur has spent more hours playing minecraft as a part of his english professor’s curriculum than he ever has in his entire life. when finals come around, they’re scored on their ability to utilise the skills they’ve learnt regarding “relaxing” activities and ability to write a one-page paper about who their hero is. it’s meant to be a difficult question—something broad with a complex answer—and wilbur, who is running on an hour of sleep and more caffeine than should be humanly allowed, cannot think of anything so he picks the first thing that pops into his head: his professor, who saved him a lot of hours of homework on weekends, and made him feel a lot better on weeks that were mostly shit. (when phil later reads the paper, he goes through an entire half-box of tissues trying to dry his eyes).

honestly my thoughts are extremely empty regarding aus atm, but i thought that this seemed like a silly goofy crack au with hurt/comfort potential :D
