Ok y'all I'm so sorry to bring this up but this ending felt like it cheated me out of some of the growth and enrichment that was developing early in the season with Izzy. Like the GROWTH!! The BONDING !!!

Even his Death cause seemed so cheapened to me, because the Izzy that was shown to us in s1 was so so smart and witty, always thinking 10 steps ahead. He would never have set out with that man as a hostage without stripping him absolutely butt naked to make sure he didn't have any weapons on him!! Like why would he have not done that here?? Even the guy himself sat down with him at a table eager to speak with 'THE Izzy Hands' because of his reputation. So I'm shocked that he would have went into that whole plan so blindly?

And then to have his death feel so kind of cold and detached, with no questions or anger or overly visible grief shown?

This season, that man realized the toxicity of not only his own past behaviors but also Ed's! And he chose to listen to his change of heart and prevent the crew from being put through the same things that he did. He was trying hard to change his way and atone by protecting the young version of himself he saw in the crew. And in that protection, he gained trust and a sense of family in them. And I KNOW once they saw the shine in that man's heart they were never gonna let him go.

So to have that scene with him bleeding out filled with all of the crew standing back silently, not attempting to do any sort of thing, hurt on such a deep level. Like where was Jim who I was sure was gonna yank Ed back so they could tend to the wound? Or Lucius who would have held him and at least made him know that he was Loved until very last ? Or even STEDE to say Thank you for everything you've shown me?

It just kind of felt very empty to me 😔

I have incomprehensible thoughts rn about how many classic American folk songs are kinda fucked up (and many are "sanitized" for modern listening to be less fucked up), and it's wild that we just, teach these songs to children without any context or anything? like, clementine is about a miner's daughter DROWNING TO DEATH as he watches helplessly? Old folks at home is a fucking RACIST AF ass song written by a white dude in the perspective of a slave who has been freed who misses his life on a plantation? when John Henry was sang by miners it often had ad-libbed, graphic lyrics about having sex with women at the end of the work day (as a way to motivate themselves and get them through the hell that was mining in the 1800s), and a lot of our modern versions are just super sanitized? like I get its hard to explain a lot of that shit to kids but like, its often never revisited and those songs are just left as sanitized, incoherent childhood introductions to America when they actually all have great amounts of value and history when put into context!!

I'd say it's actually the opposite of losing interest and dropping the project; I'm so into it that I want things to go faster!

I'm the primary illustrator working on the CGs (my sibling Sebec started helping me with lineart recently, though I still do the sketches + colouring), but I'm also the writer and the one modding the game, which takes up my time as well. Lately in particular I've been distracted by my animation and fumbling with the game to get background references for the new CGs (I'm still not successful unfortunately).

So with that said... I'd like to try and open up development a little. If you're an artist confident enough in your skills and willing to join us in our Danganronpa-style shenaniganry, let me know! In particular, I could use more lineartists, but if you could imitate the CG colouring style that'd be a huge help! In the future I'd like to look into compensating people monetarily for their work, but... I'm not earning anything making this mod, and I don't plan to earn money directly from the mod either. If money comes up at some point, we can discuss our options then (most likely a flat commission?), but for now please don't expect anything!

...And being something of a lone wolf I'm not sure I'll even end up accepting anyone into the team but. please don't let that discourage you if you wanna help out development! Although it probably will ahaha...
