Finally got to recording a big number!!!! Much easier than I thought it’d be. I can’t believe this is (nearly) my very first take. I literally only re-recorded two or three parts for low volume and of course that high note (falsetto, of course). Still working out the kinks of voice recording, but I’m getting there. I also tweaked some of my lyrics, but not substantially.
My Life Belongs To Me (Ich gehör nur mir)
Elisabeth I won’t be a prisoner  Of rules, of propriety I won’t be a portrait For fools of society For no one decides whom I can be My life belongs to me
If I wish for freedom Who’ll tell me that can’t be done  No army or kingdom  Can win me what must be won The right to decide what I can be My life belongs to me
If you try to tame me Your love I will shun I’ll flee to the warmth of my spring If you try to shame me  I’ll rise like the sun  I’ll fly like a bird on the wing
You ask for my silence  To do what I know is wrong I’ll shatter your silence And fill it with my own song  That says what I know must always be: My life belongs to me
No gossip or leering No whispers behind your back No judgment or sneering Just courage to end the act I’m more than the doll they make of me My life belongs to me
If you wish to keep me Your love’s not enough I can’t compromise on my right And if I must falter As falter I must I’ll rise like the lark and take flight
I’ll be with you always I’ll live and I'll die with you But I can’t be bounded I cannot belong to you
Let the world praise or blame me Accept me or disdain me My life belongs to me! To me!

"Ich gehör nur mir" from Elisabeth das Musical, sang by Chinese musical actors, Ayanga and Zheng Yunlong
Before I watch the performance, I was highly skeptical. This song is My Favourite. I'm afraid that the sentiment of thing song would disappear if it was sung by two guys, instead of a girl alone on stage. But seeing them performing ... with that kind of performance, you know what, the sentiment doesn't matter anymore. The harmonizations after the interlude? Straight up shot me through another plane of existence. 15/10. Thank you.

Top 5 musical theatre songs?
Difficult. Very difficult.
1. One Day More. Sorry to be a basic bitch but this is just such a TUNE. The way it makes me feel cannot be beaten, it’s just the perfect act 1 finale nothing else is ever going to top it so you might as well stop trying.
2. Can I be an even more basic bitch and say The Phantom of the Opera? It’s just iconic. While as a stand alone song it’s a bit meh I’m talking about the m o m e n t here when that boat comes out and the candelabras come up it’s just so much.
3. The Elisabeth act 1 finale (ich gehor nur Mir reprise). Oh I just love it. I just love any trio song really and the music swelling as she steps out in The Dress. Love it so much.
4. Ladies in Their Sensitivities. (Can you tell I just love everyone singing at once..?) This song when done well is just a musical waterfall of joy.
5. Our Time - merrily we roll along. This magical song that breaks my heart is a masterpiece.
Ok I feel like I’ve forgotten some important songs here but these are what instantly came to mind….

was anyone going to tell me about the Stars of Manderley 2012 concert? i only found out about it because i remembered seeing gifs of pia douwes and either lucy scherer or valerie link (turns out it was valerie) apperantly performing popular from wicked and turns out it’s from something called ‘ Stars of Manderley 2012′ where the stuttgart cast of rebecca are performing songs from other musicals in their rebecca costumes and there’s all the audio on youtube and some videos and i need the entire video omg.
have you ever wanted
popular / heißgeliebt from wicked with ich (link) as glinda and mrs danvers (douwes) as elphaba
giles and beatrice (ibald) and the mandlery staff singing be our guest / sei hier gast form beauty and the beast
mrs danvers (douwes) and the ensemble girls (helena blöcker, denise jastraunig, melanie walter und wiebke wötzel)  singing the cell block tango from chicago

maxim (jan ammann and arvid larson) singing you’re nothing without me from city of angels
jack favell and ben singing die schatten werden langer from elisabeth
mrs danvers? (clauwens) singing defying gravity / frei und schwerelos from wicked
a medley of love changes everything (aspects of love), unexpected song (song and dance), and i don’t know how to love him (jesus christ superstar) sing by our girls: maike switzer, michaela schober und kerstin ibald

for good / wie ich bin from wicked sung by christina patten (!!!) and lena brandt
there might be more songs but those are all the ones i could find audios for on youtube. i’m going to go hunting for videos. i don’t know if you all already know about this but i’m going to tag fellow rebecca fans @need-not @thegirlisuedtobe @solattea @gaymelie
on youtube there’s videos of  popular / heißgeliebt and  be our guest / sei hier gast, and i got way too excited from seeing christina patten as an emsemble member in be our guest

Hello, I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask but I absolutely loved your translation of the lyrics of"Ich gehör nur mir" and I was wondering if I could please use them for an audition at my school?
This is absolutely the best place to ask and the answer is yes. Go for it!
If you do, however, record the video and upload it somewhere, please credit me with my username and link to my blog and/or lyrics. That would be much appreciated.
Also, I did make some minor changes to my “Ich gehör nur mir” lyrics. I really must keep up with my updates. But yeah, just FYI so I don’t have you singing my previous nonsense. Thank you so much and hope everything goes well with your audition!!!

Thanks for tagging me @siichees!!
1. Nickname(s) – Not sure I have any tbh. My friends half-ironically call me "bro" or "dude" sometimes?
2. Zodiac sign – Taurus
3. Last thing I googled – oh dear, "cute singers" on Google Image, but I can explain! I was at a cafe and the barista was really cute, and I thought he looked like the lead singer in some band or other, but I didn't know which one, so I tried just googling that to see if The Answer magically appeared before my eyes (it didn't)
4. Height – 170 cm
5. Hogwarts House - Gryffindor (sorry)
6. Song stuck in my head – Le Duel
7. Following – 157
8. Followers – 183
9. Amount of sleep – 8-9 hours/night (and jealous of anyone who can manage less)
10. Lucky number – 7 or 27
11. Dream job – himbo. Or like bandmember (there can be similarities I'll grant you that)
12. Wearing – flowery sweater, jeans, ridiculous fluffy slippers
13. Favourite song(s) - At the moment "The Night Belongs to Snarl" from Firebringer, "Ich gehor nur mir" from Elisabeth, and "Stress" by Justice
14. Instruments –  Voice, keyboard, and bass
15. Random fact – I try to boycott Facebook - it's not that easy
16. Aesthetic – At the moment I'm in a sort of Gerard Way chic mood? But generally mainly vampire stuff
17. Tagging – @alleyskywalker @vierschanzentournee @l1ghtsn0w ? (if you want to only)

Hot Space and Radio Gaga!
Hot Space: My unpopular opinion is that Dear Evan Hansen and the Umbrella Academy are overrated. My other one that’s unpopular with my family is that sex jokes can be really funny (and not just for shock value) depending on the joke itself.
Radio Gaga: WHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYY do I have to pick just five???????
I guess if I had to pick just five, for now, it would be Aphrodite by Honey Gentry, All I Ask of You, White Queen (As It Began) even though it reminds me a little of a poem my ex wrote about me,  If by Bread, and a song from an Austrian musical called Elisabeth called Ich Gehor nur mir (I belong to me).

@wildandwhirlingwords sent an ask for the musical ask meme, but I’m answering one of the three she requested here for now since I have little info (ie song titles) on the other two.
First up, ELIIIIIIIIISABETH.
the first song from this show I heard: Die schatten werden langer (act ii). Which I’m positive is everyone’s intro to the show.
do I own the cast album?: I own the complete 2012 Wien cast album, and have a portion of the 2013 Korean cast that was released as a “Junsu special edition” according to Youtube ... and I managed to snag two of the Japanese TOHO songs before they got deleted from Youtube. I’d love to own the full cast albums of both one day instead of, you know, pirating them from Youtube.
favorite song: Alle tanzten mit dem Tod (2012 Wien version and legit any translations of it), Wie Du, Nichts ist schwer, Ich gehör nur mir (How long does Annemieke hold her high notes?; Ock Joo Hyun made me cry), Wenn ich tanzen will, Die Schatten werden länger (Reprise), Wenn ich dein Spiegel wär, Boote in der Nacht (Korean, German), Am Deck der Sinkenden Welt, and Der Schleier fällt. The 2013 Korean version of Kitsch is also a BOP.
least favorite songs: Schön, euch alle zu seh'n and Die fröhliche Apokalypse sneak up on me when I least expect it, Hass is an automatic addition, and both Salon in der Hofburg, Nur kein genieren, and Mein neues Sortiment get on my collective nerves because they’re more intros to the next song that comes after them.
Most of these annoyances are due to the Wien cast album splitting the songs at awkward points, but STILL.
Nichts, nichts, gar nichts (Irrenhausballade) is on thin fucking ice, it largely depends on the show.
favorite character: Lucheni!
least favorite character: Archduchess Sophie “put me in the coffin with both middle fingers up” Habsburg.
OTP: Death/being a dramatic hoe.
Death/Elisabeth and Death/Rudolf would be here, but it largely depends on both the production and the actors portraying the roles.
BROTP: None.
NOTP: None.
song I didn’t like at first but now do: Das Wolf´sche Etablissement. It’s FUN.
song I used to like but now don’t:  Die fröhliche Apokalypse. Was a bop, now it’s not. The staging of it, at least, is entertaining.
is the fandom annoying?: Haven’t had a bad experience with them.
do I read/write fanfic for this show?: I wrote a fanfic but will it see the light of day? NEVER.
favorite non-sung line: Franz Joseph’s last line of dailogue before Boote in der Nacht starts [Und Liebe, sagt man, kann alle Wunden heilen.] I think.
Also,  riiiiight before Ich gehor nur mir [Also, läßt du mich im Stich... ] (I think that’s it]
favorite lyric: Fam, don’t. We’ll be here all day.
overall rating out of 10: 8! The show has its flaws, but the songs and storyline are engaging enough to overlook them.
