you know Jung wrote a letter to Virginia Woolf where he recommended that she study Molly’s soliloquy? You know to learn how to write women? That’s as bad as Ezra Pound writing to Langston Hughes telling him what Black people “really” sound like (that happened). Remembering this I am overcome with sympathy for the joyce haters

People will really find any excuse to section-off bi women from the LGBT community and use any other facet of identity politics to actually invalidate our inherent queerness. We’ll never be queer enough or dyke enough for these people. We’ll always be some kind of fag-lite or an “ally” above being LITERAL QUEER MEMBERS of the community.

that hanania piece has to be one of the funniest things I’ve read of late. the comedic value of this fellow’s earnest masturbatory session over his self-image as this free-thinking-high-IQ-non-conformist in the midst of parroting a left-wing caricature, making brazen assumptions about the thoughts, feelings and motivations of others, asserting easily refutable claims with no evidence, and ‘solving’ morality by reinventing the starting point that is realized immediately by (if not explicitly stated to) introductory ethics students and also literally anyone who has spent any time at all considering ethics, finally culminating in the proud admission that he will not be using his high IQ thinking skills to interrogate that initial moral ick, cannot be overstated.

There is a Rampant and Vicious Cycle in the Online Left That Needs to Be Addressed
Every leftist needs to understand that not every proclaimed leftist is a safe person or one that is acting in good faith. Many people in this sphere --even if they are minorities themselves-- are Abusers. Let me be clear: they are Abusers REGARDLESS of --NOT because of-- them being a minority. Despite this, many of them have weaponized their standing as a minority in order to get away with their behavior and achieve what they see as some form of power and control over others. Let me be clear. I am referring to those that:
Manipulate and lie about pressing situations (especially when it's to harm another person or demographic)
Excessively use idpol to either elevate themselves to holier than thou levels ("listen to ___ people but only when it's something I agree with, which just so happens to devolve from constructive change to making others grovel and plead forgiveness endlessly before me") or belittle others (ie their skin color, gender, queerness, disability, neurodivergence, religion, age, etc.) in order to discount their point or not treat them as equal human beings; yes, even if their skin tone is white or if they are men, abuse does not have to be backed up by systemic issues in order to be abusive or at the very least harmful (sidenote: this does not apply to people talking about their experiences as a minority that is otherwise not experienced or understood by others, the issue I'm pointing out is when it's twisted to cover everything not directly tied to their identity and proclaim themselves as the only ones allowed to be the voice of reason, therefore shutting up everyone else and to avoid any constructive criticism or discussion)
Act on rage and at times even trauma to bring forth harmful ideals (ex: truly hating every person of a demographic, wishing for a genocide, making actual death or rape threats towards someone or a group, conversion, etc)(sidenote: I'm not discounting those that have trauma and even have harmful thoughts, just please seek help and understand that it is not healthy nor sustainable to paint or alter reality to be in line with what trauma makes you believe)
Actively try to get others they don't agree with to either permanently leave the internet or commit suicide and even celebrate when either happens
Excessively test others on their "purity" on unachievable standards to the detriment of everyone and Leftism as a whole (purity culture is fueled by christian culture in order to disguise doomerism, accepting defeat when change is not possible, of which is the very thing that will kill leftism)
Infight over weird made up issues (remember how divide and conquer is a war strategy? To split hairs and discount others for non-issues is to do the work of conservatives and nazis for them)
Shut down people or discussions over minor slights such as using an incorrect word/phrasing or any numerous perceived mistakes (example I've seen here: berating a person with schizophrenia (or a trans person or any other minority) for using a derogatory term for themselves when they're talking about how everyone else is speaking over them and not listening), ignoring the hypocrisy or not taking into account any number of mundane causes such as non-native english speakers, generational gaps, being in the process of learning (either recovering from harmful beliefs or simple ignorance), using those terms to prove a point (such as that example I mentioned above), neurodivergence, etc.
Not letting others talk about their experiences of oppression when those experiences don't match theirs, instead opting to call those people bigoted for contrived reasons
A rejection of nuance, intersectionalism, and even reality to better suit their goals (ex: claiming that every trans man benefits from the patriarchy and can never experience misogyny)
Misuse of therapy speak and terminology in order to water down those terms and render them near meaningless so they can weaponize them under the pretense of their original use (ex: gaslighting), or to cut off any need to connect or sympathize with other human beings and instead speak to them like a PR message (refer to this video by Zena and Poppy for reference)
They never speak on true leftist/progressive ideals or positive change, they only engage in destructive discourse or any behavior listed above
Making baseless dangerous accusations towards someone they don't like. Before you go harr harr you're doing that, I'm not calling out any specific person and am merely listing dangerous behaviors I've seen people here act out. What I am referring to are when someone casually calls someone specific a predator (or whatever else) with absolutely zero proof and expecting everyone to believe them no questions asked. This has been shown to ruin people's lives
Any other similar behaviors not included in this list (as well as classic logical fallacies), but what I've mentioned above should paint you a good picture
Every example I've pointed out were REAL EVENTS I've seen from people that proclaim themselves as leftists or even just progressive, and sometimes are even minorities themselves (some even infight against their own communities using the behaviors listed above, often out of internalized bigotry)(an example of a real event that happened here recently were when several people were making rape threats towards a trans man by the username of @a-faggot-with-opinions). To be blunt, I'm pointing out exclusionism in practically every form, asexual discourse, transandrophobia, TERFs/radfems, TEHMs, tankies, "cornbreadtube", nationalists and ethnonationalists, and all else I don't have the terminology for For many of the people that fall under that bullet list I would hesitate to even refer to them as leftist or progressive, as they never seem to actually show they act on it or even believe in it, only making an appearance in those communities for their own destructive personal gain; hell, often times they have ideals that directly go against what those communities stand for! Examples include TERFs with white supremacist beliefs, transandrophobes that are misogynistic, ethnonationalists that are antisemitic, puritans that are ableist, the list goes on forever. Once you know what to look for, you can see the hidden or overt bigotry behind their false "progressive" statements
No one is infallible No one is better than everyone else You are not immune to propaganda No one is immune from behaving abusively
These people are dangerous, whether they actually qualify as abusers --as I've been referring to them as such for brevity and impact-- or are people that are engaging in hurtful or fully abusive behavior (use this paragraph as a disclaimer, I of course can't know if someone is an abuser in real life unless there is documented evidence of such). Regardless, they are hurting the left and are letting the right win
If you see any of these behaviors either 1) take caution if you're unsure, 2) block them, or 3) if you have the fortitude, call them out. Either way, use your best judgement and think for yourself (or discuss with good faith leftists if you're uncertain). And remember, often times (albeit not always) they are actually fully aware of their disgusting behavior and are choosing to act maliciously, not ignorantly.
Stay safe, log off, do what you can to support your local community and leftism as a whole, don't let these people distract from the real issues at hand. Have empathy, if you don't have empathy then act in compassion, if you don't or refuse to do either please do not engage in politics. Misanthropy has no place in matters concerning humanity.
And remember: we have to stand together in unity so we can create a better future for all

i was here when it happened. ratliker (jokingly) said something to the effect of "we should nuke america", which neotrances tried to make it about himself and how she was advocating genocide on black people — which notedly only exist on america, and are completely divorced from US imperialism (the subject she was actually criticizing) in any other way, btw. this was spun into a spiel about denying jim crow or whatever, which she never did, but this website's userbase, made primarily of gullible idpol obsessed americans that earnestly believe black people would never weaponize their blackness to ostracize someone, fell for it. and 3 years later he's STILL playing the victim about it.

This whole neotrances thing reminds me that most of my online friend group decries any criticism or critical examination of Creepy S*x Industry Stuff as anti-LGBT+ and it sucks so so much. It's very depressing to see people get manipulated into condemning 'puriteens' like??? these bloggers have no power! They are not the ones ones enacting anti-LGBT laws in the US! UGH.
Yeah, the whole "puriteen" thing is bullshit, it presumes the trend of "sexual liberation" in capitalist society is inherently progressive and not a process of accelerating commodification and objectification of everyone. It's to be expected for teenagers in a society where they're more sexualized than ever feel displaced and struggle to integrate.
Is it reactionary? Yes, but the progressive response would be recognizing the need for a society that is actually liberated, where bodies are not commodities and people's sexuality is not subject to consumption and politicking. What we get is an equally reactionary mass clamoring to be sold more and goon more, neither option actually has any effect on the political course as they both (seemingly paradoxically) agree with the established order.
It is simultaneously in the interest of the capitalist corpus to increasingly monitor and restrict reproductive rights, and sexually exploit its subjects. There is no sexual liberation without economic liberation, the former is a product of the latter. Whole thing is a sham, idpol is the graveyard of the future.

re conditional privilege:
whether it comes to race, ability, gender, sexuality or class, people are really hung up on this idea that ambiguity affords protection, which is the same as privilege. as though having camouflage means you aren't hunted.
only the oppressed are concerned with our own variation and degree of difference. there is no ambiguity in the eyes of the oppressor. the reality is that the oppressors don't care how like them you are. in fact, being like them is all the more reason to punish you and keep you in your place. the project of exclusion is not to force conformity, it's to find people to make an example of so that others try to buy safety by trying to obey the most cruel and arbitrary rules. the more people try to conform, the narrower the criteria becomes, the more they fail, the more can be punished. that is how systems of power propagate themselves, because power can only be retained by exercising it, by whichever rationales necessary.
i understand that "identity politics" is a word that's been weaponized by the right wing, but it's a legitimate criteria of criticism for the left. when something moves from self-definition and community to tribalism, policing and self-branding, it has become a project of neoliberal hyperindividualism. identity politics focuses on defining ourselves by the extent to which we are punished as individual groups and under what criteria, imagining a rational and restrained power matrix that metes out punishment according to the degree of difference and perceived threat. it imagines an oppressive power structure as a methodical, conscientious gardener pruning a rose bush, rather than a brutal machinery that has invented arbitrary rules to violently subjugate and systemically mass murder the lives it needs to sustain itself. instead of building a community around the fact that we're all being hunted by the same beasts, idpol would rather build a hierarchy of prey animals according to the ways we'll be skinned and cooked, stopping only short of putting us on a menu with accompanying prices.
i suppose when you define yourself according to the appetite of the thing that wants to eat you, you end up weirdly attached to the romance of being eaten, and hate to give it up.

our foreign affairs minister shut off her phone line over the last few days. within the last few weeks of me calling it went from automated message about who to contact for consular assistance, then straight to a person -> prerecorded message with a dedicated 'press 1 to register your views on the israeli palestinian conflict' -> if you want to express your views on Anything you are taken to a message saying 'we can't always answer every call, please contact us via our website instead' and it hangs up on you. can't talk to a person.
i can still so vividly remember the years when penny wong (foreign affairs) specifically used to be the one good politician everyone would look towards for hope in our political space. we wanted her to be prime minister. idpol analysis specifically hoped that her race and sexuality had granted her a more empathetic and critical perspective on politics. now she's the one being called out by name in protest chants. our prime minister used to attend pro-palestinian rallies - we trusted them, our muslim + arab population trusted them. and now This.
apparently ethics and values mean nothing in the face of supporting US interests in the middle east. another minute that any of them spend in power is one minute to many.

the original content of this post is important, but the addition tells me that a lot of you still use the phrase "identity politics" as a boogeyman and have no idea what it means. i understand that a lot of people online use the phrase, so you might THINK that you know what it means. but i guarantee none of you have read any works by the combahee river collective, the black feminist organization that coined the term.
to quote directly,
"What We Believe Above all else, Our politics initially sprang from the shared belief that Black women are inherently valuable, that our liberation is a necessity not as an adjunct to somebody else's may because of our need as human persons for autonomy. This may seem so obvious as to sound simplistic, but it is apparent that no other ostensibly progressive movement has ever consIdered our specific oppression as a priority or worked seriously for the ending of that oppression. Merely naming the pejorative stereotypes attributed to Black women (e.g. mammy, matriarch, Sapphire, whore, bulldagger), let alone cataloguing the cruel, often murderous, treatment we receive, Indicates how little value has been placed upon our lives during four centuries of bondage in the Western hemisphere. We realize that the only people who care enough about us to work consistently for our liberation are us. Our politics evolve from a healthy love for ourselves, our sisters and our community which allows us to continue our struggle and work.
This focusing upon our own oppression is embodied in the concept of identity politics. We believe that the most profound and potentially most radical politics come directly out of our own identity, as opposed to working to end somebody else's oppression. In the case of Black women this is a particularly repugnant, dangerous, threatening, and therefore revolutionary concept because it is obvious from looking at all the political movements that have preceded us that anyone is more worthy of liberation than ourselves. We reject pedestals, queenhood, and walking ten paces behind. To be recognized as human, levelly human, is enough."
i encourage you to read the whole statement here. please keep the phrase "identity politics" out of your mouth until you understand that the criticism of "IDPOL" is the leftist equivalent of conservatives criticising critical race theory.

I think you're wasting your time, that guy clearly has no media literacy. Also hilarious that he calls people fascist for liking a character that happens to have physical characteristics that many actual human beings have that don't make them inherently evil while. trying to defend the guy that wanted to commit genocide while saying he is wasted potential. Okay dude, lmao.
Probably was wasting my time. I find it more funny that he called me a fascist despite the fact I've openly supported Lenin here.
Doomalade has no nuance, he doesn't understand media criticism, or the fact that some characters are just meant to be bad.
Alot of his arguments stem from his hatred of RT, which is understandable. Roosterteeth should be criticized extensively due to their history. But unfortunately he let that bias affect how he creates his arguments.
One thing I noticed is that he always ignored the Sienna Khan example of armed struggle, the fact that I openly support it, or the deserved nuance that I gave Adam. He likely didn't want a changed opinion or an open honest debate (although given that I was ragging on him it doesn't surprise me he was hostile from the get go).
If he wants to give honest good criticism, he needs to learn how to be objective, and to stop relying on identity politics. IdPol is something to take into consideration, especially if you're of a progressive political stance, such as Marxism and Marxism-Leninism, but it should not be your entire foundation, as it can alienate people you claim to help, weaken your reasoning and in turn your arguments.
How many times did he claim or imply that Jaune stans were fascists?
That reasoning alone is enough to weaken any argument, especially when you're defending a chauvinistic character like Adam.
I don't hate Doomalade, and I hope that they grow past their tunnel vision, and leave the RWDE echo chamber / circle jerk

The way rich people have found a way to make doing the right thing seem seem so convoluted and use their knowledge of oppressive structures as a way to be elitist toward poor people instead of changing anything. It’s only seen as a democrat issue and people use this trend to justify their own bigotry or general apathy toward the world w the whole anti idpol sentiment..but imo it’s part of the same issue with republicans making this argument that “wokism” is a designated political ideology in the sense that they are shaming any sort of rhetoric that is critical of white people/men/cishetereosexuality bc that also overcomplicates political language & stigmatizes progress more overtly & the republicans are definitely more egregious.

I suspect based on your summary of the period that, because of the social circles you were running in at the time, you missed a lot of very on-the-mark criticism of Obama in the 2008-2012 period coming from the right that the left spuriously dismissed as racism. This was one of many early warning signs of the later idpol excesses, but it was easier for generally left-aligned or moderate people to ignore because it was pissing out of the tent instead of inside it.
That's probable. Not only was I young at the time, but my natural disposition leans more liberal. I was onboard with the Party to buy social insurance and ethics credits.
Also, based on personal experience, I didn't buy the bootstraps narrative on offer at the time - I was on high-powered stimulant medication as a means to do work, which made it obvious that a lot of willpower is biological, and you can't just will yourself to do whatever you "should" just because it would be the right thing to do.
I think it's awful that people are born with terrible diseases they can't get rid of, or suffer terrible and debilitating injuries, and that their bodies fall apart and wither away while they're still inside and they lose their minds. I was also angry at God for the concept of Hell, and the idea of uncountable billions to be created only to be tortured eternally in a world where faith is unclear and generally seems illogical. (As a child I was once quite upset[sad] after learning about the eventual heat death of the universe.)
Well, if the party wants to crash production then there won't be social insurance anyway, might as well vote for the bootstrappers since they won't randomly shut down power plants.
On the religion front, in 2015 or 2016, through right-wingers I was associated with at the time, I read a convincing argument that the Hell in English versions of the Bible is a mistranslation, and non-believers just cease to exist. That's already the fate of everyone under Atheism, and most people would rather have existed, so it's a net improvement.

there's no transmasc erasure happening here, clearly, we know they are a terrible person too, unfortunately
You know, when I first met them, they were criticizing Black people for "weaponizing idpol"...

My thots about this man and his badge
Detective River Ward was the first character to truly challenge my media literacy around law enforcement—something that RE's Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield and BR 2049's Agent K never did for me.
Yes. River is a cop when we first meet him. And for me, as a <idpol incoming!!!> Afro-Caribbean, queer and whatever person who's incredibly cop-critical, it was important that I acknowledged him as an apparatus of a historically oppressive institution, which I could imagine, he joined for his own honourable, misguided reasons.
Maybe it was an honest pursuit of closure to join an institution that had the resources to look into his parents' murders; to help others like him. Perhaps the predatory recruiters trawling the institutionalized rackets of Night City group homes found a traumatized Indigenous kid desperate to course-correct a future that held nothing for him; a kid looking for structure and belonging. An isolated cultural raft.
Violence and tragedy aside, gang life tends to have that same powerful lure to lonely boys from socioeconomically-embattled places. A found family—albeit with varying levels of circumstantial coercion.
So imo, River wasn't some blue-blooded badge descending from a comfortable lineage of cops. He was an apparatus of a gang that, in the end, thought poorly of his need to prioritize vulnerable people over the state, and it cost him everything. And I love him for that.
