I find it very amusing that the Lee Junho tag I'm following on Tumblr is now full of posts for the character Lee Junho from Extraordinary Attorney Woo lol. But then again, I really do think the writer for EAW picked the name precisely because of bb Junho, 'cos he's so lovely too. Bless.

“if you say it’s love, it’s love”: junho/young woo rs analysis + ep 12 rs development thoughts (spoilers!)
WARNING: this is long. this is so long. it wasn’t supposed to be this lengthy but things got out of hand and this is what we’re stuck with. sorry and enjoy LOL
i. overview
i think junho/young woo as a couple (and as individuals!!!! i love them so much as individuals) aren’t perfect, and i’m not saying that because i think there are any glaring problems with their relationship/relationship dynamic (defining “problems” v loosely, i’m not an old man safeguarding the moral purity in fiction lawn) but bc there’s something rly exciting about two ppl who aren’t done learning about each other and figuring out their next steps beyond “i like you” yet.
i’ve seen so much praise for lee junho’s character being a “green flag” compared to other male leads to the point that i have that phrase muted on twitter (real!™). i get why ppl are using it as a way to describe him, and i don’t want to be too overly serious about what it means for fandom when something like that becomes grounds for bragging rights (pls consider the idea that we should all just play in different sandboxes instead of trying to convince ppl that Our Sandbox Is The Best Sandbox), but....i do think about the fact that some ppl might find themselves enjoying junho’s character a lot less if they keep expecting him to be an arbitrary kind of perfect.
ii. junho’s characterization
from the 1st episode, junho is a lot of things: patient, considerate, observant, honest, a good listener, and innately kind, someone who actually wants to know how you’re doing and how your day went once he’s asked. no one’s questioning that he isn’t a rly good guy or not ranking at #1 in the annual nicest-person-working-at-hanbada poll LOL, but he’s also a human being with a full range of emotions like a lot of us.
i’ve seen a few complaints here and there that ppl can’t get into junho as a character or junho/youngwoo as a ship bc junho’s “only personality trait is liking young woo” but i don’t think that’s true when that conclusion rests on the assumption that junho as a character only exists to one-sidedly love and support young woo without having any actual feelings about it. i think we’ve seen over and over again that junho has A LOT, a lot of feelings about young woo, but he also has a lot of feelings about love, responsibility, and what constitutes a romantic relationship in general.
there are so!!! many moments when junho immediately and intensely rejects other ppl when they trespass on his feelings for young woo or scrutinize the depth of what he feels. when his (college??) friends are hyper analyzing their relationship and esp!!! when there’s the comment that it’s not love that junho is feeling but sympathy, his first move is to physically lunge at the person who said it. the music that plays in the bg (slow, solemn, not violent or aggressive sounding) moves me away from thinking that junho’s anger is the only emotional takeaway we’re supposed to get out of the scene. it’s not an impulsive move on junho’s part to lash out when he hears something that he doesn’t like. there was a buildup and a choice, you can see it in his eyes. in my opinion, it’s genuine heartbreak at the idea that his love for young woo could be watered down to something as (contextually) Less as sympathy and that young woo as a person is being seen as a person who, at most, is only capable of being sympathized with instead of as a person who loves and is loved.
when suyeon tells him not to keep engaging with young woo (specifically with her whale talk) by inadvertently setting up an expectation that it’ll be a long-term thing if his feelings are temporary, he’s adamant and hurt at the thought of his feelings being so flimsy or seen as a phase. he’s someone who takes ppl, ppl’s feelings, and his own feelings seriously (which is why i think that we see him hesitate with so much helplessness and vulnerability in the face of young woo’s straightforward confessions and “i like you”s. for young woo, liking someone is liking someone so she’s comfortable with saying that and learning as she goes, but junho 1000% feels like someone who’s a pre-planner that acts with intention when he’s all in).
when he and minwoo are drinking in their apartment and minwoo asks him if he already thinks that the hypothetical relationship won’t last, not knowing who junho likes, junho is clearly angry that someone would even suggest that, like it would jinx things. that same fear of things being out of his hands and ending in a broken relationship comes up again when he and young woo are walking along the famous deoksugung stone wall and she tells him that there’s a myth that couples who walk the length of the wall together will break up. he takes even the chance of them breaking up so seriously, pausing and asking her if they should stop. the anxiety is obvious.
the thing that i’m trying to get across here is that junho isn’t going to be a “perfect” male lead in the sense that the only emotion he’ll ever feel is as-long-as-young-woo-likes-it-i-like-it-too. his love/like for young woo isn’t vacuous. it’s paired with a lot of other things, like learning and communicating and asking for reciprocation when he wants/needs it.
i so love the way that junho is a fully rounded person who’s figuring things out, with emotions like jealousy, insecurity, anger, sincerity, confusion, and frustration. i think a lot of the time, whether it’s kdramas or other forms of media, the romantic relationships that are shown between two ppl are: person a who has everything figured out and wants to catch person b up to speed through compassionate means x person b who has x amount of issues and is still learning and struggling with how to be a person alongside being a person in a relationship. it’s rly refreshing to see two people figuring out how to fit each other into their respective worlds because of the mutual understanding that they have feelings for one another and find that important.
iii. junho/young woo’s relationship
a lot of what makes junho/young woo so special and genuine to me is that these are two people who are learning how to love each other alongside one another. the learning is so important. their journey is step by step and it’s a path they’re walking together, a space where they can safely make mistakes and figure out how to resolve them, outside of society’s judging eyes and outside of the other people in their lives.
for young woo who’s never been in a romantic relationship before, everything is new. there’s new things to consider about forms of affection like holding hands, kissing, hugging, etc. there’s old things to consider too like her personal boundaries and what she is/isn’t comfortable with, whether or not she has positive, romantic feelings for junho. there’s also social convention when it comes to dating and learning about what junho’s needs are, what’s considerate and inconsiderate, and what things she can do to reciprocate junho’s affection for her (i.e. asking him if he wants to hang up after calling him, conveying her feelings for him without running away, having a pre-determined time for whale talk, etc).
for junho, there’s the struggle of trying to figuring out how not to cross the line with young woo and having to curb his own impulses so that he can meet young woo where she’s at. he takes the time to learn more about autism (junho memorizing an excerpt from the text he was reading re: autistic people with sensory overload after he walked young woo home made me so :’) bc he took his research just as seriously as young woo takes the law. plus their matchy memorization!!), i think with the expectation that he’ll have to use it one day. even with all that aside, i think junho just wants to learn about young woo as a person. it’s why he asks if they can restrict whale talk to lunchtime and why he’s so happy when young woo tells him things about herself and says that it makes it easier to understand her.
reciprocation is rly, to me, one of the biggest reasons that young woo and junho work so well together as a couple. even when they’re unsure about a situation, they read each other/infer things about each other accurately. when junho brings up holding hands while walking home together, young woo explains why hand-holding is uncomfortable for her but still asks if he wants to try anyway, limited as the time might be.
it’s not about the hope that junho will magically be the only person that young woo will enjoy holding hands with or that her touch aversion will just go away. it’s the fact that she offers to try anyway because she knows that it’s something that might be important to him. when junho leans in for a kiss after the case is closed and young woo walks him home in ep 10, he takes a step back when he sees that she’s uncomfortable. he’s disappointed, but he’s not angry and he’s not impatient with her. young woo again being the person who gets to takes a step forward is so lovely. she comes to her own conclusion about what she wants (what they both want LOL) and initiates their first kiss. junho initiating their second kiss is also so sweet to me. they’re absolutely equals in their relationship.
iv. episode 12
that’s why the conversation that young woo and junho have in ep 12 was such a pleasant surprise for me. ppl have been calling it young woo/junho’s first argument, but i saw it more as a debate between young woo and junho with them each stating their “sides” (i.e. their relationship status and what qualifies as “dating”) and having to re-consider where their “opponent” is coming from. young woo is under the impression that they’re going on dates but not actually dating because they never explicitly said that they were dating, something that’s completely reasonable and applies to aliistic ppl in romantic relationships too.
for junho, who has a clear sense of what romance entails for him and what forms of affection he shows as a person in a romantic relationship, it’s baffling that the relationship he has with young woo isn’t already considered official. they’re both approaching dating from two different camps of philosophy. you can prefer/empathize with one side more than the other for sure, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that any one side is “wrong” or that any one side is a bad person for thinking that way.
reading the qrts of the ep 12 clip on twitter was a bad exercise in human curiosity, but my biggest piece of advice for ppl who were instinctively hurt by what junho said (and i meant hurt, not anxious, what i’m saying doesn’t need to apply if it triggered anxiety for you), is to rewatch the scene with a different mindset. not everything that someone says outside of explicit praise is inherently negative or antagonistic. ppl are allowed to feel things outside of love and respect for their significant others without suddenly becoming a terrible partner, and those two emotions don’t disappear when/bc ppl are feeling anger or frustration.
imo, junho’s “if we’re not dating, why would i protest to free the dolphins on my day off?” isn’t supposed to be a statement that undermines young woo’s interests or what’s important to her. it’s a real argument that he’s making just like he’s made with other ppl in the past who didn’t take his relationship with young woo seriously, except this time his opponent is young woo herself. if we follow junho’s character arc, i think we can come to the conclusion that in this moment where young woo is questioning whether or not they’re actually dating (again, still a valid and understandable attitude to have), junho is hurt because his feelings are being (unintentionally! obviously unintentionally!) seemingly diminished and invalidated by the very person that he has all of these intense feelings for.
there’s a restrained sense of annoyance, overall disbelief at the situation, along with obvious frustration, but he’s still trying to explain himself in a way that’s not accusatory or relying on guilt-tripping. he still insists that he cares about freeing dolphins, he explains that the dates that young woo had listed are out of the ordinary for most ppl, and he’s still carefully watching her reactions to what he’s saying so that she doesn’t get hurt.
the problem from junho’s pov is likely that his way of showing affection: taking an interest in young woo’s interests, trying to get closer to her and enter her world by doing things that he normally wouldn’t do, isn’t...working? as in it’s not being seen for what it is by the person that he’s doing these things for, which doesn’t make his efforts fruitless exactly (there’s no ulterior motive to doing things that he doesn’t usually find fun with young woo. no matter what they’re doing, it’s obvious that he just wants to spend time with her and get to know her better), but does end up feeling a little disappointing. are his feelings not being seen as strong enough to be taken seriously? is he not being taken seriously as a partner? junho is a character who feels things often and feels them visibly, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise plot wise that this is a moment where he feels like he has to speak the truth.
junho’s “it’s not like it’s fun,” is another statement that i think might have been taken rly personally by ppl on the outside (aka the viewers) when it’s a rly blasé comment once you take a step back to think about it. i understand why the guttural reaction of oh-no-so-he-was-faking-having-fun-with-her-that’s-not-how-an-ideal-male-lead-acts-maybe-he-doesn’t-like-young-woo-as-much-or-as-deeply-as-we-all-thought???? happens, but that doesn’t mean that i think it’s logical or fair.
ppl have different interests obviously, but more than that, time well spent isn’t always time that could be considered conventionally “fun.” i don’t think we’re meant to read the situation as junho suffering through these dates with young woo like he was dragging his feet the whole time, but more like their ideas of “fun” in a romantic context differ. for young woo, maybe it is romantic enough to be with the person you like while doing the things that are important to the both of you (young woo’s immediate “do you not agree that dolphins should be freed?” LOL), but for junho, there’s clearly a bigger inclination toward traditional aspects of romance when it comes to dating/dates.
when you’re dating someone, of course there’s going to be compromise. you do things that your partner is interested in that you might not personally care for, like going to the aerospace museum or seeing a play, but that doesn’t mean that there’s an expectation that you have to personally find those things fun or want to do them all the time. junho might not find running by the han river and picking up trash to be his ideal, “fun” date, but he still has a bright smile on his face when he hears young woo calling for him. not having fun doesn’t mean not enjoying the time you do spend with your significant other or not finding joy in their joy.
most of junho’s reservations and complaints about their unconventional dates from what we’ve seen are actually bc he wants attention from young woo that he’s not getting. i don’t mean this in an immature, junho only wants young woo to see him kind of way, but in a junho-wants-to-be-in-their-own-two-person-world-while-on-a-date kind of way, where the focus is on their relationship and its development. he wants to get to know young woo better, he wants young woo to get to know himself better, and he can’t do that when she’s solely focused on saving the dolphins and picking up garbage and winning the game they’re playing.
junho’s despondent, “that day, you really only picked up garbage. you picked up garbage again and again as the day got brighter until that huge basket was full,” is completely said with the sulky tone of an ignored puppy whose owner got distracted by something else. junho’s “attorney woo, you’re great at this,” when they were playing find the difference was the same. he was happy and interested in how good she was at the game even when she was consistently beating him, and he only ended up disappointed when she didn’t engage with him afterward. if young woo had split her focus between the things she was doing and junho himself, i think he would’ve enjoyed their dates a lot more.
tl;dr
saying that something is perfect usually means nothing can be improved and that it’s in a finished and complete state, and i don’t think that applies to junho as a person or to junho/young woo’s relationship because they’re 1) human beings and 2) still learning how to love each other in the best way possible. their relationship would be a lot more enjoyable for ppl if they could put down the green flag descriptor and fully enjoy junho’s character, learning curve and all, when it comes to how to approach romance with young woo. he’s not as unrealistic as you’d think once you start looking at the emotional ups and downs that he has too.

hi hi i heard you like chief kim and i'm here to get all the intel on why it's a good drama 😊 and what you love about park jae bum's other dramas 😊 pls let me know if there's romance bc that's the oxygen i breathe when i watch a show 💕
Hello!!! Thank you for asking me about Chief Kim!!!! I can go on about it for ages lol. This got a bit long so i’m putting it under a cut
Chief Kim (aka Good Manager) is a comedy office drama with 20 eps, and it aired in 2017. There isn’t a main romance plotline, but don’t let that put you off! It’s an incredible drama in so many ways. (tho there is a subtle romance side plot, but it doesn’t involve the main character and it’s never the main focus, though it is cute). It does feature a bromance that was so great that the two actors literally won an award for it tho lol, so there’s also that!
In a way, the general premise is somewhat similar to Vincenzo in that it’s the main character and an unlikely team of others fighting a big corporation. The comedic tone is also more or less the same. The drama follows Kim Seong Ryong (the titular Chief Kim, played by Namgoong Min), a man with a talent for handling numbers who goes from running a seedy accounting firm to quite accidentally becoming a champion of employees rights in one of the biggest corporations in the country. He originally joins the company with the goal of embezzling a lot money and moving abroad, but he gets swept up in office politics surrounding high executives and the sinister goings on surrounding the position he was recruited for, as well as the shady things the higher-ups want him to do and the suspicion of the other members of his department. Eventually he starts to work alongside them to fight the corruption of the higher ups, and quickly becomes the bane of top management’s existence by being so incredibly annoying that they begin to regret hiring him.
It’s the kind of drama that really gets you to laugh, while still being incredibly heartwarming. The main character is so unashamedly funny, and the character dynamics are all so warm, and none of it ever seems forced. The first tag for the drama on MyDramaList is “character development”, and that says a lot! There’s so much growth that goes on for all the characters, even some of the villains! It’s especially funny because to begin with all the good things Kim Seong Ryeong does are completely by accident, and he’s annoyed but also pleased with all the attention it gets him. Over time he begins to own it, and begins to actively try to stand up to the corrupt people at the top of the company. The other highlight for me besides the humor is definitely the characters. From the eccentric main character, to the no-nonsense second in command in his department Yoon Ha Kyung, to the aggressive finance director Seo Yul who is always eating (one of my all time favourite characters, played by 2PM’s Junho), to the janitor lady who always roasts everyone, there isn’t a single dull character, whether good or bad. And Seo Yul gets one of the best character arcs I’ve ever seen in a kdrama. You get to watch the characters struggle and triumph, and you feel for them because their struggles feel so real, and the drama really gets you invested in them. You see the ways in which they fight to survive as normal working class citizens and you want them to win.
It differs from Vincenzo in that the main character isn’t considered evil and loses his less savoury traits over the course of the drama (his character arc is one of becoming a more upstanding citizen), and the message is one of fighting against corporate greed using the corporate system against itself in order to make things better for the average working citizen. But there’s the same plotting, and the same feeling of rooting for the protagonist team to win as you watch them plot and plan. I never rewatch things, but i’ve rewatched Chief Kim twice already and i’m looking forward to rewatching it again soon (just writing about it is making me want to rewatch it right now lol). It especially hits well for me because i love office dramas, and the humor and the bromance are just right. (Also, not entirely related, but it’s the first drama Kim Seonho was in!)
Another Park Jaebum drama i can definitely recommend is The Fiery Priest! It’s also a comedy action drama with 20 eps (released in 2019), and it follows Kim Hae Il (Kim Nam Gil), a catholic priest with a real temper, as he works to solve the mystery surrounding the death of a senior priest. No romance there either, but it’s got the same humor as Chief Kim and Vincenzo, and the same overarching found family trope (that really shines for this one). It’s darker than Chief Kim, but not as dark as Vincenzo. The plot is very intriguing, and it’s the kind of drama you feel compelled to keep watching to see what happens next. And the host of characters in that drama is still one of my favourites to this day. Every character was incredibly written, and they all played vital roles in the overall story. Again, lots of character development all round, and great character arcs not just for the main character (even for a few of the villains!). Plus it was lovely to watch the various characters interact, get closer, and build relationships. Such an iconic squad. Not to mention how funny it is?? And the fight scenes??? In fact, I enjoyed it so much that when I checked Park Jaebum’s page on MyDramaList after watching it around June last year and saw Vincenzo as an upcoming project, I added it to my plan to watch list immediately even though there was only a single line of synopsis lol. It’s also got an absolute banger of a soundtrack!
When you think about it, all three (Chief Kim, TFP and Vincenzo) can be simplified to “guy with dubious past sets out to fight corruption and creates a great support circle in the process”. All three are dramas of finding people who care about you and are willing to fight alongside you, and fighting for your convictions/what you think is right. Each main character starts out as a somewhat solitary figure, and you get to watch as they each find people who are willing to fight alongside them and support them. What exactly those specific convictions are varies in each drama, but Park Jaebum writes the character development arcs incredibly each time, and the relationships between the characters are so real and so satisfying to watch. And yet the integrity of the main character in each drama is never compromised either, it’s shown that they can grow and become better without losing themselves. The growth is also in the way that they learn to work with and rely on others, because teamwork makes the dream work. And then to cap it all off he lets them have victories, and he makes it SO satisfying??? There are highs and there are lows, and you feel all of those right there with the characters, which makes the victories feel so so good. In each we see the ensemble cast get involved with the fight and the plotting, and we get to see all their epic plans and their execution, and the victories they win that build up over time. And it’s so satisfying to me! I love it a lot, just thinking about it is making me smile lol. It also shows how well humor and darker/more serious plotlines/events are balanced in the dramas, neither is compromised in favour of the other, but it always works so well that the humor never feels forced or out of place. As someone who doesn’t like overbearingly dark shows, I really appreciate that. They all give you lots to laugh at, while not losing any of the plot to the funny.
Of course there are differences, notably the romance, and the fact that Vincenzo is bad vs bad rather than good vs bad like the other two. They deal more with redemption (especially The Fiery Priest), but that works for the stories that are being told, and it’s very well executed.
It’s worth noting that Park Jaebum also wrote Good Doctor and 4 seasons of God’s Quiz. I haven’t checked those out yet, but I’ve heard good things about all of them. He also wrote Blood, I haven’t seen that one either but opinions seem to be split on how good it was. All of those are medical dramas (which is the reason I haven’t watched them lol, i can’t stand medical dramas) from before 2017, when he wrote Chief Kim. It seems he’s been on a roll since then, good for him and good for us lol. You can see everything he’s written on his MyDramaList page.
Overall I enjoyed the Park Jaebum dramas I have seen for first and foremost the comedy, but also for the warmth of the character relationships and for how well developed/written each character is. And I love how he balances the humor with more poignant/darker moments, I laughed a lot watching all three dramas, but I’ve cried over each of them as well. It’s a good balance to have, it gives you a good plot to be interested in, but doesn’t keep you stressed and sombre the whole way through. I’ve seen people say that Vincenzo wouldn’t be as good if it wasn’t so wacky, and I fully agree. It’s the same for both TFP and Chief Kim, and that balance is definitely what I appreciate most in Park Jaebum’s dramas. I know I will laugh, but I also know I will get an incredible plot and incredible characters, and that’s really important for me. Plus I know I can trust that there will be a good ending because the writer cares about his characters.
I definitely recommend checking out both TFP and Chief Kim after Vincenzo is done, especially since they’re so similar in terms of comedic tone and basic plot direction. If you ever get to watching either of them feel free to hmu to chat about it!! There’s lots of plot stuff that can be can discussed.
lol this got v long (i have lots to say about how much i love these dramas haha), but I hope it’s helpful!!!

Yoon Shi Yoon, a man full of positive energy!
After being discharged from the military this Jan, YSY who is going to celebrate his 30th birthday this September demonstrates his natural, manly charm before viewers in "2D1N", a variety show he joined this May.
Tumblr media
UW (magazine U-weekly):What have you learned from the other hosts after joining 2D1N?
YSY:First of all, Tae Hyun hyung is a very considerate person; he's always thinking of the other person in everything he does. He's a very experienced actor so he knows these things very well. Even though he himself also feels responsible for the viewership of 2D1N, he's always smiling; this doesn't mean that he doesn't feel the pressure. That's why I think he's really excellent and a 'deep well' (not a literal translation, but the best that my puny brain can come with now, sorry! Something like a river that runs deep). Defconn hyung is a very sensitive and meticulous person; you can't tell that from the show right? We often have to travel to different places for 2D1N and interact with the locals; Defconn is a super personable person and I really admire this part of him. Jun yeong (sorry I dunnoe how to spell his name lol) is very polite and thinks very deeply. People think that he's very open-minded, free-spirit typer of person but in reality, he's a lot of substance and depth (i.e. not shallow). Jongmin hyung is a very kind person, a Mr Nice Guy who can put up with others around him. He gives me the feeling of a big brother who grows up in the same 'hood as you and takes care of you. Kim Junho hyung is a very experienced comedian, and knows that the atmosphere and tension will go 'high' (up) as long as he sacrifices himself (I suppose he's talking abt him stripped lol). If I were to say that Cha Tae Hyun hyung plays the role of the leader, then Kim Junho hyung is the sacrificial role who works hard to bring laughter and joy to the audience.
UW:Although you are very competitive and hardworking, you are often the 'black hole' (hahahaha! this means someone who often trips up the rest or causes failure of entire group) of the group; what do you make of this?
YSY: This is a part of me, and I can't make people laugh. I think the most important thing in 2D1N is the tacit/mutual understanding of all 6 of us. I think the PD who first asked me to join 2D1N probably didn't expect me to be a funny person either. I 'act' when I'm in a TV drama, but I won't 'act' when I'm in a variety show; I just be myself. So the YSY u see in 2D1N is the most real and natural me. This is also the reason why I decided to join 2D1N.
UW:If you have to challenge every member of 2D1N to something, what would you choose? Diving? 100m dash?
YSY: I realized that they are very afraid of the 'haunted house experiment'. I think I can definitely win if we all go there. Also, since I'm younger than them, I think I shouldn't have any problem in things that involve stamina/physical energy. Also, because they are all very busy, if there's a 'don't sleep contest', I will definitely be stronger in this area! Haha! (Text + Photos: Strawberry head)

AUDITION SHOWS
The members of A.C.E all appeared on audition shows at the end of 2017. Chan and Jun appeared on KBS’ The Unit while Donghun, Byeongkwan and Sehyoon appeared on YG’s MIXNINE.
They all appeared to get A.C.E’s name out there, and they all came a long way on the shows.
Chan ended up in the final line-up for The Unit, hence he’s in UNB (still to promote A.C.E). Byeongkwan and Donghun also made the final line-up however the debut of the MIXNINE group got cancelled (Cause YG is sh!t).

The Next Part
Pairing: GOT7′s Jinyoung x OC [Woorin] Genre: slice of life, slight angst, slight fluff Word Count: 6,725 Summary: Woorin and Jinyoung’s relationship didn’t end on good terms, but they never had the chance to settle it out and life got in the way. Now three years later, Woorin and Jinyoung meet again.
Warning: none... i think. maybe swear words. i honestly forgot. lol
my first post which is a GOT7 one that I wrote for a secret santa event. anyways, happy reading and kthxbai, Admin Lia~
"Are you sure it's okay?" Woorin asked her best friend, Nayoung, as the duo arrived at the venue where The Street's Christmas party was being held.
"Yes, it is. Besides, we're already here and it's not like you haven't done this before." Nayoung replied with a laugh. "Just enjoy yourself."
"Yeah, that was when I was working at The Street, but I don't anymore and probably don't know anyone now."
"There's a few familiar faces you'll recognize."
"Yeah right. It's been like three years."
"Don't forget the ones that has been here like me."
"Yeah, yeah."
The duo entered the venue and were greeted by a well decorated and subtle Christmas theme of gold, silver, white, and blue. There was hardly any of the bold colors of green and red unless it was just a dash here and there. Other than that, it was very beautiful and light.
"Whoever decorated the venue did an amazing job." Woorin complemented as Nayoung agreed. "Yeah. Yubin and Hyelim spent hours on all of this, especially in the last minute details. Mr. Park was very particular about certain things although in the end he just let them do whatever."
"Sounds like him and still not much has changed since."
"Tell me about it. So much has happened this year and I'm glad I'm not playing hostess. I left it up to the other girls who wanted to do it and I'm so glad I did."
"True. Anyways, what do you want me to do with this?"
Woorin asked while holding onto a tray of oreo stuffed chocolate chip cookies that she and Nayoung had baked earlier. Nayoung pointed towards to her right and to the front of the room.
"Oh, that. You can put it over there with the other food the others should have brought for the potluck. I'm going to be on the other side where the gifts are and you can meet me over there."
"Okay."
The duo bid one another a wave as they went their separate ways. Woorin softly, but briskly made her way over to the long table and scanned it to see where she could place the plastic tray of baked goods. After finding a spot and placing it there, Woorin turned around to find her friend when she almost ran into another body, but was quick to react and move out of their way. It was Nayoung's boyfriend, Mark.
To this day, Woorin still didn't really like Mark as she felt he was kind of sketchy and weird, but she kept her dislike under the surface and only voiced her thoughts whenever it was just her and Nayoung. If he made her friend happy and wasn't an asshole from what she could tell, then she could allow Nayoung that happiness and not ruin it for her just because she didn't like the guy.
"Hi, Woorin." Mark greeted her with a smile as Woorin did the same, but out of politeness. "Hey, Mark."
"It's good to see you. Didn't think you'll show up to one of these since you haven't attended the past ones. How are you?"
"I'm good and I wasn't, but thought I'll see how it is nowaways. You?"
"I'm doing fine. Is Nayoung around as I'm assumed she invited you?"
"Yeah, she did. She's at the gift table. Nayoung didn't want to come alone since you had something to do before you came here."
"Oh yeah, I did. I just had to pick up Jinyoung from the airport. He should be around here, somewhere."
"Ah, Jinyoung. You invited him?"
"Of course since he'll be coming back to work at The Street again, but at the Itaewon location instead of the one here in Cheongdam."
"I see. That's good. That's real good." Woorin changed the topic. "Anyways, yeah, Nayoung should be putting her gift away and I'm gotta use the restroom."
"Okay. Thanks. It was good seeing you."
"Yeah, likewise."
The two bid one another goodbye as Mark made his way in the direction of where the gifts were while Woorin made a beeline towards the exit. Woorin only came to the party in support of her friend who has worked since it opened, but it was also because she knew that Jinyoung wasn't going to be here at the party. He hasn't been able to attend the previous ones, too, and so she thought she was in the clear. Woorin used to work at The Street located in Cheongdam of where she met Jinyoung. The two were a couple before their breakup three years ago and it didn't end on good terms.
Although Woorin came here with Nayoung and may not have recognized the new faces, but she didn't feel like staying after all knowing there was one face she'll have to look at again knowing memories would resurface without her permission. Unfortunately for Woorin, her escape was intercepted by four familiar faces.
"Oh ho ho. Is that our little Woorin?" Taecyeon cooed upon recognizing her first with the largest grin on his face.
"It is." Minjun confirmed with a gummy smile. "I didn't think we'll be see you again after so long."
"Yeah, hey, hi guys." Woorin awkwardly greeted them. "I just dropped off the food for Nayoung. I was just leaving."
"Already?" Nichkhun frowned. "You just got here. We actually have more games and raffles going on this year. You should stay."
"Um, I dunno. It might be awkward."
"Nonsense. Come along." Wooyoung said as he took a hold of her forearm and pulled her along to where everyone was gathering while leaning down to whisper his next words. "Did you bring any chicken?"
"Wooyoung. We have loads of chicken coming in a few minutes." Minjun stated with a roll of his eyes. "Stop bothering the kids about it."
"I just wanted to know. Can't have enough chicken at these things."
Woorin just continued to smile politely as she got dragged along, but trying to get her arm out from Wooyoungs grip was a lot harder when Taecyeon was on her other side with his smiling face that pulled her in to just go with the flow. Woorin gave up and just hoped she didn't have to interact with Jinyoung at all.
"Limbo Queen! Limbo Queen! Limbo Queen!"
Nayoung began the chant to cheer and annoy Woorin as she and five others were still in the running to see how low they could go for limbo. Before Woorin quit, her record was at 36 inches and since then no one has been able to beat it except coming close to it. Woorin cast a glare in her friend's direction only to receive a smirk in response. The crowd began to cheer for the contenders as they limbo underneath the 48 inches, but Minho and Felix were unable to complete it as they ended up falling onto their backs. Now it was just Woorin, Momo, Sana, and Mina left.
"Since we have our reigning queen, Woorin, here with us, let's just go straight to thirty-six inches." Chansung announced happily as everyone agreed except Woorin.
"No, no, no. It's supposed to be forty-four inches next." Woorin informed as her back was starting to hurt and she was glad she opted out of wearing heels in favor of flats. "How about we just end the game and move on to the next one?"
"Should we do what Woorin said?" Chansung asked the crowd as they all disagreed and he smiled at Woorin. "Sorry. The crowd wants what they want."
He and Junho lowered the bar to 36 inches while motioning for the quartet to go on through with giddily expressions. Woorin let out a breath and knew she shouldn't have said yes to Nayoung. She forgot how the managers were persistent in games and such. Woorin mustered up a smile and tiredly bent backwards to maneuvered under the rainbow bar and slowly, but successfully completed the 36 inches. Woorin realized after doing so how much it ached once she was upright and memories from the last time she did it she was like three years younger.
The cheers were loud for Woorin and even louder as the next trio of girls went next. Momo went next and she almost completed it, but she lost her footing and shot out a hand to grab at the bar to catch her fall. This caused her to be eliminated. Sana went next as she kept going up to the bar, but eventually she just gave up as she knew that she wouldn't be able to go that low. Mina was next and for the last three years she was unable to actually complete the stage and only able to complete 38 inches instead.
This year, Mina psyched herself up along with the cheers of her fellow crew and she ended up successfully being able to limbo the 36 inches. Woorin noticed again since they started the whole limbo thing how Mina bent backwards and slowly inched her way under the colorful bar. This got Woorin thinking of an idea that she hoped would end her record to crown someone else. Plus, limbo caused too much commotion for her liking and she only ever went through with it was because she got caught up in the moment.
"Alright, alright. It's definitely best of the best now." Chansung announced as he motioned to the last two contestants with a grin. "It's down to current three year in a row champion, Mina, and three years ago and record holder champion, Woorin."
"Who is it going to be this year? Mina or Woorin?" Junho added with a eye-smile. "Let's find out as we'll drop it down to 32 inches which neither of the two have been able to get to or complete."
Woorin motioned for Mina to go on first with a smile. Mina smiled back with a nod as she went to try the new settings. It was close to either fail or succeed, but Mina eventually was able to pass on through and complete it. Although the pressure was on Woorin, she played along and let out a worry breath as she stared at the new lowered bar, but slowly attempted it. She bent her back as low as she could while trying to pass underneath the bar, but at the last second her head bumped into the bar. Everyone let out disappointed words, but Woorin just smiled as she congratulated Mina in being the new record holder as well as third time champion.
"Congrats as the overall Limbo Queen!" Woorin congratulated Mina as Mina thanked her. "Thank you and you're a worthy opponent, Woorin."
"You're welcome and likewise."
As they moved on to the next game and everyone's attention elsewhere, Woorin thankfully made her way to the food table without any disturbances although she did massaged her lower back while doing so. Except for one person as Nayoung joined her shortly afterwards.
"You lost on purpose didn't you?" Nayoung asked while nudging Woorin.
"What? No I did not. Why would you say such a thing, Nayoung? I would never do such a thing. Ever." Woorin denied sarcastically with a smile while casting Nayoung a look. "My back was starting to ache though. I'm getting old."
"We're the same age. If you're saying your old, then I'm old, too."
"You are."
"True."
"Anyways," Woorin returned her attention to back what she was doing as she scanned the items for what she wanted to eat. "Now, what should I eat?"
Nayoung nudged Woorin again while speaking. "Anyways, have you noticed who's been staring at you since we began?"
"Nope. Don't know who you're talking about."
"Don't lie."
"I'm not. I don't care."
"Yeah, right. You've been avoiding him since the party started."
"It's not avoiding. It's ignoring. There's a difference."
"Oh, c'mon. Same difference either way. It's been like three years. Not like you guys didn't know that you guys broke up."
"That's the thing, Nayoung. We said some not so nice things that just ended the relationship on the spot and we left it like that."
"Bruh, and you forgot to tell me that part?"
"Because it doesn't include you."
"True."
Just as Nayoung was about to change the topic to something else she heard her name being called and rushed over after telling Woorin to stick around some more. Woorin just rolled her eyes as she piled her plate with some goodies before grabbing a few water bottles and headed somewhere else where there was no one else to have her stick around. Woorin actually wandered out of the party venue and up a flight of stairs knowing where she wanted to go. It led her to the rooftop and she was thankful that it wasn't snowing and that the weather wasn't super cold for her to not hang outside since she didn't want to go back inside.
Woorin walked towards the edge and set her plate and bottles on the ground before leaning her arms on the ledge to stare at the city lights. There was just something about the night time setting that always put her at ease. She looked towards the sky and barely managed to spy a few of the stars twinkling down at the city, but it didn't lose it's calming effect on her. Woorin turned her gaze towards the streets below and wondered when was the last time she was able to just relax and enjoyed the scenery around her like. Too lost in her own thoughts and relaxation, Woorin didn't hear or notice another person joining her until he spoke.
"I see that some things never changed." Jinyoung commented as Woorin slowly turned to look at her ex-boyfriend who was also gazing at the city lights.
His profile remained the same as she last remembered, yet different somehow. Woorin's eyes returned forward as she didn't respond and just gazed at the people and car below. The silence between them wasn't awkward as she had expected. It felt like time had never changed with what had occurred between them three years ago.
"If I recall," Jinyoung suddenly spoke, but kept his eyes ahead of him, "We first met on the rooftop of The Street and grew closer after that day. Didn't we?"
Woorin was on her lunch break and had taken it on the work's rooftop. No one really spent time here as they preferred to go out somewhere or spend it in the office chatting with the bosses. So for her she called it her own little personal hangout whenever work got stressful or the co-workers got annoying. Today, Woorin just needed time away from the annoying customers that bugged her earlier and the reason on why Nayoung told her to go take a breather because of it. So here she was casually taking a breather and people watching below. Woorin enjoyed it the most when she didn't really have to interact with other people and dealing with their orders and compliants.
A few minutes later Woorin's quiet moment was interrupted when she heard the door slammed open and a male voice sputtering angry words into the afternoon air. She languidly turned her head to look over her shoulder at who it could be and saw that it was one of the new guys that was recently hired a week or two ago. Woorin coudn't recall his name, but if her memory served her right with Nayoung's updates about all things work related then he should be Jinyoung. If not him, then it would be the other guy named Jaebeom. Woorin wasn't sure as she hasn't gotten the chance to work with either of them yet, but then again she didn't really care for the newbies until she had to deal with them during her shift.
Woorin returned her gaze back to people watching as the guy hadn't noticed Woorin as he continued to pace angrily while muttering to himself continuously nonstop. She didn't want to eavesdrop, but it was kind of hard not to when she was still within the vicinity of hearing him rant. Letting out a long sigh after checking her phone to see how much longer she had before her break was over before turning to look at the guy again.
"Hey." Woorin called out to him which got his attention and making him even more alert than before. "If you wanna rant, then please do it elsewhere or more quietly. Some of us are trying to enjoy the peaceful quietness of this afternoon weather before returning to work and dealing with customers. Thanks."
Woorin shot him a forced smile before resuming her thing before he came along.
"I can rant however I like. This space isn't just yours to use." Jinyoung retorted.
Woorin didn't bother turning around, but she did held up her hand to wave at the air in a whatever motion.
"Sure, yeah, whatever. Go ahead, but don't blame me if something happens to you."
Jinyoung joined Woorin at the ledge and she slightly edged away not liking her personal bubble being invaded. She also didn't bother to pay him any attention and continued with her people watching until her lunch break was over.
"Is that a threat? Do I need to file a compliant with one of the bosses about that?" Jinyoung inquired. "Are you someone I should be cautious of?"
Woorin lazily looked over at him with a bored look. Before she could give him answers her phone's alarm beeped indicating that her break was over. She pushed off from the ledge while backing away with a smile directed at Jinyoung before turning around and heading back down to resume her shift.
"Hey, wait! I'm being serious here!" Jinyoung called after her, but Woorin just waved him off and exited the rooftop without a second glance in his direction.
Woorin let out a scoff with a roll of her eyes and a laugh. "No, Jinyoung. Not exactly."
"Oh, right. I remember now. You bullied me for the next few weeks after that incident." Jinyoung stated with a small smile.
"Not even. I had to clean up after you so many times that you could keep your job even though I don't get why I even did that." Woorin glared at him. "I don't know anyone who could've fucked up so many times on the Beaver Tail Choco Banana. It's so easy to make and set up."
"Why are you getting so worked up about that?" Jinyoung laughed. "That was like years ago."
"Because every time you messed up it came out of my paycheck." Woorin revealed and Jinyoung frowned. "Wait, seriously?"
Woorin didn't answer him and faced the night sky instead.
"Woorin." Jinyoung called for her attention, but she didn't give in as Jinyoung continued speaking anyways. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Because it didn't matter." Woorin replied.
"Yes it did. You got shorted when it was all my fault and you could have easily paid for your schooling faster."
"It's all in the past, Jinyoung. Forget about it."
"Ho-"
"I said to forget about it, Jinyoung. Okay?"
Jinyoung dropped the subject as the silence fell between them again. This time there was a slight shift in the air and after a moment or two, Jinyoung didn't want it to come between them again.
"So why did you agreed to go on a date with me when I caused you to probably hated my guts entirely?"
"Can you like not schedule me and Jinyoung on the same shift?" Woorin asked Nayoung one day as the two were at Nayoung's house watching a drama.
"What's wrong with working with Jinyoung?" Nayoung asked turning to face her friend.
Woorin looked over at her with an annoyed look. "He's still messing up despite working there for like four months now. I hate cleaning up after him."
"That's weird. He's been doing fine when I work with him. The same with Ayeon and Nakjoon, too. He works just fine when we're on the same shift with Jinyoung."
Both Nayoung and Woorin returned their attention back onto the TV.
"He's probably messing with me then since him and I didn't have a good first impression. Then again, he's an idiot and I'm just done with yelling at the new kids."
"No, Woorin. You can't be like that. You have to teach and nuture these kids." Nayoung mused from what their big boss would tell them.
Woorin shook her head while letting out a frustrated breath. "Hell no. He's fucking up so much that I'm getting my paycheck cut."
"I thought you talked to Mr. Park about all of that."
"Yeah, I did, but he just told me that he'll reimbursed me at the end of the year for all of that."
"That's dumb. You're supposed to wait until the end of the year to get your money back?"
"I know and something like that, yeah."
"But paying for school isn't a big deal, right?"
"No. Mr. Park and I had worked something out and so it's going well for now."
"Okay, good to know. Anyways, maybe you make Jinyoung nervous?"
"Nervous how? I'm the one that helps him the most even when there's others that can do that. Like you."
"Maybe he has a crush on you." Nayoung mused as Woorin rolled her eyes. "This isn't grade school, Nayoung."
"Hmm, that's not what Mark's been telling me."
"Can I even trust your boyfriend's words?"
Nayoung rolled her eyes. "I know you don't like him a whole lot, but he's not that bad."
"I dunno. He's shady as fuck."
"You just don't like him because he broke your laptop that one time."
"Yeah, because he broke my laptop. Mine. Not his. Mine." Woorin defended and clarified. "How is someone gonna break someone else's property just because he got angry that he lost in World of Warcraft?"
"He did said that he was either gonna fix it or buy you a new one to make up for it." Nayoung reminded Woorin. "But you refused his offer."
"I know. Maybe I shoudn't have because I ended up turning in my essay late that week."
"You passed the class didn't you?"
"I did, but I had to spend my hours in the library without my laptop."
"Anyways, back on the other topic," Nayoung said as she returned them both onto the topic of Jinyoung, "Don't you think it's kind of obvious that he's messing up so that he could get your attention?"
"That's a dumbass way to get a girl's attention by fucking up so many times and deducting her paycheck."
"Shit, I dunno. Why not ask him?"
"Yeah, right. I ain't gonna ask his ass about that."
"Maybe you don't have to." Nayoung grinned mischievously while holding her phone for Woorin to see the screen. "How about a double date then?"
"Is that why you and I were each other's date on their date that day?" Jinyoung asked with a laugh as the memory came to mind.
"Uh, correction. You and I were third and fourth-wheeling that night. We weren't on a date." Woorin clarified. "We just happened to enjoy the other's company without feeling hostile and annoyed."
"By hostile and annoyed, you meant yourself, right?"
"You're still annoying as ever."
Jinyoung chuckled as Woorin side-eyed him.
"I wondered what made me fall for you."
Jinyoung stopped chuckling and looked over at her with a small smile.
"Wasn't it my good charms and fashion sense?"
Woorin shook her head with a laugh.
"Not even. Those were just bonuses."
"Oh, really? Tell me more."
"Shut up. Don't get all smug about it."
Jinyoung laughed once more before speaking again. "Well, why you're still wondering what made you fall for me, should I tell you what made me fall for you?"
"You're staring again." Jaebeom said as he nudged Jinyoung to focus on the task at hand.
"Was it obvious?" Jinyoung asked while glancing around the work space.
"Not to her at least." Jaebeom chuckled before looking at the dessert plate that Jinyoung had been working on before making an unsure face. "I don't know what you're gonna do, but you're gonna have to fix that and fast before Woorin finds out you messed up again."
Jinyoung glanced down at the Beaver Tail Choco Banana plate he was working on for a customer and groaned.
"Where's BamBam when I need him. He can totally distract her and make her forget all the messed up I made today."
"Too bad he's off. Jackson does a pretty good job.
"Not today. She sent him to the store because she couldn't handle his excessive chatter today. Ugh, she's gonna kill me."
"She can't. She doesn't want to be a murderer or go to jail."
"Why would you say something like that?"
"Because I heard her muttered it one time the other day when you dropped the mac and cheese in front of the customer and then served another customer the ham and cheese sandwich when it wasn't even theirs."
Jinyoung closed his eyes in frustration while letting out a groan. He wasn't sure why he was messing up so much and more today than any other days, but for some reason Woorin was seriously a major distraction on his part.
"I'm surprised Woorin has this much patience and controlled of her anger to deal with how much you've fucked up since you started." Jaebeom stated with a laugh as Jinyoung cast him an annoyed look. "Me, too, but I'm completely fine when she's not working. I don't mess up at all."
"Maybe she makes you nervous, Jinyoung." Jaebeom reasoned, but grinned mischievously. "In a different way than normal."
"You might be right, Jaebeom." Jinyoung agreed with a defeated sigh. "There's no way another human being can have that high enough tolerance of my clumsiness without wanting to throttle me to death by now."
"I just gotta ask man, but what is it that you like about Woorin?"
"She's very patient and has high tolerance of others. Also, she's kinda cute when she's mad."
"Wow, but hey, if you think of Woorin like that, then shouldn't you be thinking of a way on how to make it up to her?"
"Oh, so you're the culprit that would leave me a caramel latte in my locker before my shift?" Woorin accused Jinyoung with a look.
"Yes. That was me and before I knew that you didn't like coffee." Jinyoung explained. "I could only assume since that's what you would order before you left home."
"I only bought that for Nayoung because she likes that."
"Do you do everything that Nayoung asks?" Jinyoung mused as Woorin scoffed. "No. Just when I need her to get off my back."
"Besides, I already had a feeling it was you who left them there." Woorin admitted with a small chuckle.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Jinyoung asked in shocked. "I would have changed the drink or maybe got you a dessert instead."
"Because you were happy in doing something small for me and I didn't want to ruin that for you. It was kind of cute and sweet." Woorin admitted. "Plus, Nayoung got her free drink and in return she would give me mine."
"Which would be the winter-melon and almond bubble tea."
"Yeah."
Woorin was gonna allow another moment of silence fall between them, but Jinyoung once again wouldn't allow it.
"So why did we break up?"
"Because you wanted to travel and I wanted to stay here." Woorin answered without hesitation.
"Woorin! Woorin! I did it! I did it! It happened! It actually happened and I actually got accepted!" Jinyoung exclaimed as he entered The Street with his acceptance letter in hand while Woorin was in the middle of making a caramel latte art.
"Hold on, Jinyoung." Woorin told her boyfriend as she was in the midst of finishing the drink.
"Okay, Chan, here you go, but please be careful with it." She informed another co-worker as she set the small cup onto a small plate for Chan to run it out. "Please make sure this customer gets the toast all warmed up, too. She's very particular of her order. Thanks."
"Already took care of the toast, Woorin. Thanks." Chan stated with a bright smile before running out the order.
Woorin finally turned her attention onto Jinyoung. "So what's up?"
"Here!"
Jinyoung enthusiastically shoved the letter into his girlfriend's hands as Woorin scanned the content of the letter before flashing a smile at her boyfriend.
"Wow, congratulations, Jinyoung! I'm super happy you got accepted to Juilliard. That's super fantastic."
"I know and I can't wait for the both of us to travel to New York City this summer so that you can see where we'll be staying for fall semester and-"
"Whoa, whoa, Jinyoung. Slow down." Woorin said with furrowed eyebrows. "What do you mean by us?"
"You're gonna come with me right?" Jinyoung asked with a curious expression. "It's everything we've been talking about for months now."
"Well, yeah, Jinyoung, but that was for you. Not me."
"I don't get it."
"Jinyoung, I don't want to leave Seoul."
"I applied to Juilliard so that we could travel and see things outside of Seoul, Woorin."
"That's nice, Jinyoung, but I never told you that I wanted to travel outside of Seoul though. I thought we were going to try the whole long distance relationship thing."
"No, Woorin. We were going to stay together and do things together without being apart from one another."
"But Jinyoung, we never really talked about it. That's just you assuming what's best for the both of us."
"Well, at least I'm thinking about our future."
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"You've been so busy lately that you cancelled on our dates six times already. Plus I haven't even gotten the chance to hangout and cuddle with my girlfriend without work or schoolwork getting in the way of it. I some times wonder if I even have a girlfriend at all."
"Well, I'm sorry that I've been a bad girlfriend, Jinyoung, alright. Also, I'm more focused on working to make money to pay for my schooling to get a higher education, too. Not all of us have Daddy and Mommy paying for it without worrying about it."
"And I offered to help you out with that, but you're so stubborn to accept it."
"Offering to pay for my schooling is totally and absolutely hella different than paying for our dinner dates, Jinyoung."
"It's the same difference, Woorin. They're both getting paid for in the end. Right?"
"That's not how relationships work, Jinyoung." Woorin let out an exasperated sigh.
"Maybe this relationship between us isn't working out after all." Jinyoung reasoned in all seriousness.
Woorin shot him a slightly hurt look. "Is that how you feel about us?"
"Some times, yes, I do." Jinyoung admitted honestly.
Woorin scoffed. "You're unbelievable."
The tension in the air caused Woorin to finally take noticed of her surrounding when she felt a tap on her shoulder from one of her co-workers.
"Um, Woorin, I need change in register two." Jae informed her a bit hesitantly. "I'm out of five hundred won coins."
"Yeah, um here." Woorin said as she handed Jae her keys to take care of it. "It's the smaller one with green markings on it."
"Thanks."
Jae scurried away to leave her and Jinyoung to their own thing. Once he left, Woorin realized that she and Jinyoung were still out in the open of The Street and saw that the other workers and customers could hear their conversation and see that the couple were having a lover's spat. She hated when personal things happened at work like this and needed to get it under control.
"Look, Jinyoung," Woorin returned her attention onto Jinyoung, "Let's talk about this later. I still have to work." Woorin suggested with a pleading look. "OK?"
"We never got to talk later, did we?" Jinyoung asked with a regretful tone.
"No, we didn't." Woorin confirmed matching his tone.
The two didn't look at one another as they kept their attention to the view before them. Allowing the memories of the past to fill in the space around them once again. That night when they were supposed to talk about the whole New York City thing, Woorin had to stayed late and closed because Nayoung got food poisoning and couldn't work. As for Jinyoung he had to pack and get ready for his trip overseas and had to take care of the necessary paperwork.
Eventually in the end life got the better for the both of them and they were unable to find the time to work it out and have that talk. By the time the two did have time, Jinyoung was already miles away in another country and Woorin had just finished her final exams. It was too late for a talk and so it was too late to mend the bond between them. Their relationship ended then and there at The Street and neither wanted to give in and contact the other to talk it out.
"You wanna know something?" Jinyoung suddenly asked as Woorin answered promptly. "Not really."
Jinyoung rolled his eyes as Woorin chuckled. "What is it? You're gonna tell me anyways."
"I wanted to call you these past three years, but I figured that I would be fine and that the feelings would fade over time. It never did."
Woorin didn't respond and Jinyoung continued taking her silence as a positive thing.
"I wanted to see if you were doing fine, Woorin. I really wanted to know if you were happy and living life without me in it or if you were just as miserable as I was knowing that the person you loved wasn't right by you." Jinyoung admitted as he confessed his thoughts and feelings over the past three years.
"Well, you've seen me and I'm just peachy." Woorin shot him a smile, but Jinyoung noticed that it didn't reach her eyes.
"Are you though?"
"It's life, Jinyoung. I lived and got through it. I'm still here, aren't I? It wasn't easy, but I was able to live my life and I don't regret it. Maybe, except for one thing."
"Would that one thing be about us?" Jinyoung asked hopefully. "Because honestly, I kept thinking about the last conversation we had and realized they were said out of frustration and that we were still young in love, but I regretted how we ended that day three years ago."
"I get it, Jinyoung. I really do and maybe it was or maybe it wasn't. Still, we had our own paths to take and live. Life got in the way when we made our decisions to do so. That's the only way we'll flourish without someone or something holding us back from recognizing that."
"I thought relationships were always about compromises and that's why you and I were unable to agree with what was right for the both of us at the time."
"No, Jinyoung, that wasn't it."
"Then what was it, Woorin?"
"Our relationship fell through because we didn't collaborate right."
"Huh?"
Jinyoung was confused by what Woorin meant and at that moment the both of them turned to look at the other.
"It's all about the collaboration between two people working on it together without losing themselves, Jinyoung. If we compromised all the time, then we would always lose a bit of ourselves over time in doing so."
"Is that what happened to us?" Jinyoung genuinely asked. "Did we compromised too much that we ended up losing one another?"
Woorin shook her head with a sad smile before answering him. "No, Jinyoung. We didn't do either. We just went with the flow without any direction of how our future together would be like and assume in our own way of what would be best for us."
"Well, that was then, Woorin." Jinyoung cast her a smile. "How about now?"
"You seriously want us to start dating again?" Woorin asked not sure if she should amused him or not.
"Yeah. Why not? We didn't leave on good terms the last time we saw each other and it's been like three years since then. I think we can start a whole new chapter or maybe even another book to the series." Jinyoung reasoned before casting her a charming smile. "Besides, you haven't told me why you fell for me in the first place."
"Okay, another chapter or a book. Wow." Woorin laughed at the idea before biting her bottom lip as a giggle escaped. "I honestly don't know, but I do know that I just liked you, Jinyoung. I probably still do and maybe why I even tolerated your presence again."
"Well, I'm going to take that as a good thing because I still like you, too, Woorin."
The pair genuinely smiled at one another having righted their little mishap three years ago. Jinyoung took one of Woorin's hand in his and just as he was about to do something, the rooftop's door banged opened revealing two of their ex-co-workers, Youngjae and Jimin.
"Hey, it's so pretty up here. Wow, it's amazing." Youngjae said in awe with Jimin beside him. "Yeah, I told you that you could see the night sky and the city lights below. Yerin mentioned it last time when she was up here."
The new duo were about to walk towards the ledge and explore the rooftop before catching the other pair and sheepishly apologized.
"Oh, we're sorry. Didn't think anyone else was up here." Jimin apologized while tugging on Youngjae's hand. "Let's go, Youngjae, and leave them alone."
"Yeah, sorry. We didn't mean to interrupt anything important going on between the two of you." Youngjae apologized as he let Jimin tug him away.
Before Woorin could correct the duo's misunderstanding, Jinyoung beat her to it, but continuing the misunderstanding.
"C'mon, Youngjae and Jimin. Woorin and I just made up and were about to kiss."
"Okay, okay, okay! We're leaving and we won't tell anyone to disturb you guys." Youngjae informed them with a laugh as Jimin waved at them with a bright smile. "Congratulations on getting back together you two."
"Thank you!" Jinyoung thanked the duo as the door slammed closed once they left.
"You're such a liar!" Woorin lightly punched him in the arm with her free hand. "That's not what we were doing at all."
"Which part? The getting back together, the making up, or the kissing one?"
"Neither." Woorin deadpanned trying to release her grip from Jinyoung's as he chuckled, but firmly held onto her hand with a mischievous expression.
"I'm pretty sure it was two of them and then the third one I was gonna do just now before those two came and interrupted us."
"You're such a jerk, Jinyoung. I can't believe you were gonna steal a kiss so soon after making up and what not." Woorin eyed him suspiciously while trying to move away from him. "I'm re-thinking this whole us thing again. I think I wanna end it with the last chapter and discontinued the book series."
"No, no, no. What happened to the whole collaborating thing?"
"I dunno, but we can talk tomorrow. Just let me eat my food even though it's like cold by now." Woorin said as she removed her hand out from Jinyoung's and went to pick up the plate she had brought earlier with her. "Yeah? Seems like a good idea, no?"
"That depends, Woorin. Are you gonna be the one that goes overseas and I stay in Seoul this time around?"
"I'm pretty sure Seoul is gonna continue being home for a long while, Jinyoung. I'm not going anywhere."
"Good, because returning home now seems more welcoming than ever before."
"I'm sure it is." Woorin commented with a knowing smile before picking up a chocolate covered strawberry and offering it to Jinyoung.
Jinyoung opened his mouth indicating for Woorin to feed him. She rolled her eyes, but stuffed the treat into his mouth with a laugh. Jinyoung covered his mouth with one hand as he ate the thing whole, but smiled nevertheless knowing that he and Woorin were good again. Good again to start another chapter of their lives, but this time with each other in it.

The language was German just now
Eng title: This Side of Paradise
F.Scott Fitzgerald is my favourite author that's why I'm currently reading his debut roman. His style of writing is so nice and elegant, I just love it. He's also the one who wrote 'The Great Gatsby' as you might know.
ever had a poem written about you?
Actually not, I do write poems and stuff myself but never have one written about me.
when was the last time you played the air guitar?
A week ago probably hahaha
one sound you hate and one you love
hate: people yelling/screaming or being loud in general
love: when raindrops hit your window and you can hear a thunderstorm coming up

Yes. I do to a certain point.
I do believe that people who still have to finish or put an end to something stay as ghosts in order to do so. Or if they have too much anger in them lol

Might sound funny but I ran into a wall and my head started bleeding really really bad. Now you can't see anything on my forehead anymore tho, only in the sunlight you can barely see my scar.
do you have any obsessions rn?
Besides 'How I met your mother', nothing new at the moment
do you hold grudges?
Not really but I won't ever act the same towards a person who really hurt me in a fight again.

Ok, so it was quick to review and comment on all Kdramas I’ve watched because I’ve only fully watched 10. I have hover watched 22 in total, but the remaining 12 I’ve only watched halfway or a 3rd of the way.
This can be explained by my very low attention span and also by the fact that I’m a boring person who only likes romance and uses Kdrama to rub my itch for cheesiness. As such I usually stop after the romance gets resolved and at the first signs of the final Drama™. Or the romance wasn’t interesting enough so I just lost interest.
I will then be reviewing the 10 dramas I’ve watched completely, which are all good and that I like otherwise I wouldn’t have watched ‘til the end. Then I’ll give a quick look on the ones I haven’t watched ‘til the end cause you might like them. I’ll also tell which ones I want to watch, and give you some nimes of popular dramas that look kinda cool but probably won’t retain my interest. Also tell you about the 4 korean movies I’ve actually watched rofl
All of that under the cut !
Part 1 : The good (aka. Things I could watch all the way)
Loosely ranked, but the last 5 are my absolute favourites and I wouldn’t really be able to rank them from 1st to 5th. Chief Kim isn’t in there although I love it because it’s not as deep.
Tumblr media
Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo
About a collegiate weightlifting student (Kim Bok Joo, played by Lee Sung Kyung who is ♥ ♥ ♥) and a collegiate swimmer (I only remember two names in that drama, not his lol. The actor is Nam Joo Hyuk and he’s also bae). It’s kind of a slice-of-life show, but it follows their struggle both as athletes and as people. Deals with eating disorders in a pretty underwhelming manner. There’s also my wife in it, Lee Joo Young who plays Bok Joo’s best friend, Sun Ok (the only other name I remember). While it was funny and heartwarming, and the characters were interesting, it was lot of drama on top of drama, and miscommunication and lies are often used as plot devices (it is VERY often the case in kdramas I’ve noticed) and that’s just annoying to me. I basically sped through the last 4 episodes cause I just wanted to be done with it. It was very popular though, and it’sstill a good watch.
Tumblr media
Love in the Moonlight
It starts with my favourite plot: a girl who has to dress up as a man. It also has my least favourite plot point: main guy has a gay scare because he thinks girl he likes is a man. But that’s just me. The heroine dresses up as a guy and finds herself enrolled as a eunuch in the palace, where she starts serving the prince. Shit happens and there’s stuff about rebels and all. I wasn’t really paying attention. I think it’s visually lovely, there lots of beautiful scenes. It also has Kwak Dong Yeon who’s one of my fav. I mean. Get a load of this :
Tumblr media
How was he not the protag ? Anyway, it’s a nice watch but like a lot of other dramas I think it suffers from unbalanced pacing. The change of tone from the last arc compared to the beginning of the show is also kind of disturbing. The thing is, when you start watching a sweet romance thing with light themes you’re not really in the mood for a heavy political/action plotline by the end, you know ? I rushed through the last episodes cause I just didn’t give a crap lol
Tumblr media
Witch’s Court
We’re getting to the good stuff. I didn’t even have to take a break before watching the end of that one !
Yi-Deum is a prosecutor. She’s a selfish and ambitious woman who would do anything to get ahead. But one day she does like one good moral choice and it leads to her being demoted to a new unit which deals in sex crime. As such the show is pretty heavy, but I thought it handled the themes pretty well. She becomes partnered with a newbie who’s a former psychologist. Her mom also disappeared when she was like 16 so that’s something.
Although there are overarching plots, it’s usually a one cas per episode/2 episodes type of deal, which I think helps to keep a balanced pace, while not undermining character developpment.
Character development is HUGE in this show by the way. Cause Yi Deum is a BITCH. And when I say that I don’t mean “Booohoooo she’s mean to the cute guy :’(” no I mean she’s a heartless money grabber with no morals and no empathy AT ALL. Even when she does something good, she does it in a “bad” way. So it’s really enjoyable to see her slooow progress towards being a worthy protagonist. Love her.
Tumblr media
W
You know, Take On Me’s music video ? Yeah.
Oh Yeon Joo is an intern in surgery, and the daughter of the famous author of the webcomic W, which tells the story of Kang Chul, a prodigy olympic shooter who was wrongly accused of the murder of his family and turned a new leaf after being proven innocent. He then became a millionaire by creating a crime solving network channel and he catches bad guys yada yada yada. Anyway, he’s not the real star of the show, Yeon Joo is. One day, the two world start overlapping as the forces of two different creative minds collide.
I have found that Korean Dramas are really good with mind bending concepts, and they make for very smart and thought provoking plot points. I watched this with my best friend who got me into Kdramas (it was the secon drama I watched). My friend and I thought the ending was very disappointing though, but I’d say the journey is worth the mediocre destination, and well, opinions might differ.
Yeon Joo carries the show. She’s one of the greatest heroine I’ve ever seen. She’s smart, brave, resourceful. She’s not a ditz but she still retains a girly charm, and she’s got such a strong spirit. It’s a delight to see her and Kang Chul interact, mainly because they’re on equal grounds most of the time. She doesn’t let herself be intimidated by him at all, and she saves his ass as much (if not more) as he saves hers.
Also her and Lee Jong Suk are so fucking hot like omg what a power couple. The good thing is that they are always honest with each other. Because of the fact that the comic is a thing, there is no reason to lie, and even when it’s not because of the comics they remain truthful with each other and I don’t remember miscommunication ever being used as a plot device.
Tumblr media
Chief Kim
This one is not about romance at all, it’s about accounting and frauds. It’s hilarious. Kim Sung Ryung is a small time accountants, expert swindler, who works for small town mafiosos. He manages, somehow, to get hired as the director of the accounting department of a large company after the former attempted suicide and ended up in a coma. At the same time, former prosecutor Seo Yool (played by my ABSOLUTE FAVE OF ALL TIMES LEE JUNHO), specialising in frauds, start working as a director at the company, ready to cover all the dark dealings of the company, despite accountant Yoon Ha-Kyung’s effort to uncover the truth behind the suicide attempt.
How does something about accounting manages to be so funny and still full of suspence ? This got me on the edge of my seat all the way through, and still managed to make me laugh my ass off. The acting can be a bit over the top sometimes, as it is still a comedy show, but Junho and Namgung Min are incredible as a duo. It’s very rare to see a friendship or rivalry take the center of a show instead of a romantic one but their interactions are always so fun to watch.
I really liked it, I don’t know... I like office stories. The female lead is super cool. She’s smart, level headed, soft hearted, empathetic, and her friendship with Sung Ryung is the kind you rarely see in dramas.
Tumblr media
Page Turner
The shortest drama on the list. It’s only 3 episodes long and IT SHOULD BE LONGER.
Yoon Yoo Seul is the daughter of a piano teacher, and attends a musical high school. She’s a prodigy pianist rivaled only by her mother’s former student Seo Jin Mok, a rich spoiled brat who hates Yoo Seul bc she’s just that good. Because of an accident, Yoo Seul may have to give up on her mother’s dream of her becoming a famous pianist. Meanwhile, promising athlete Cha Sik faces the same situation and gives up on ever becoming a professional athlete, but he starts considering the piano instead, although he’s never touched a piano ever in his life.
It’s heartwarming, it’s beautiful, it’s raw and soft and it’s hopeful. It’s short so I can’t say much without spoiling stuff but if you need to watch something, watch this.
Tumblr media
While You Were Sleeping
Lee Jong Suk always has good romances.
Nam Hong Joo (Suzy the Bae ♥) has always had dreams where she foresaw the future. She lives with her mom, who runs a pork restaurant. One day, they get new neighboors; Jae Chan, a newly appointed prosecutor, and his younger brother. AAND honestly I won’t say much more than that because the first episode alone is such a RIDE that it would be spoiling it.
The three main characters are AMAZING. They are funny, resourceful, quirky in unexpected ways, honest and good. And because premonition is a thing, lying and miscommunication is rarely used as well ! The characters are honest with each other, and their relationships develops naturally and “organically” without stealing the thunder of the main plot.
As I said in W, they use the concept perfectly and intelligently. It keeps you on edge and you’re excited to see what will happen next. Also, Jae Chan being a prosecutor, there’s a bit of that case-by-case element going on that I like which helps balancing the pace. I watched it in one go and did not even take a break at some point !
Tumblr media
Goblin
If you have ever looked at the Kdrama scene, you’ve probably heard of Goblin. That show’s been a huge phenomenon. I’ve seen it referenced in other dramas a lot, and it’s basically become a cult. And it deserves the praise.
When General Kim Shin was slain by the king he was serving, he became Dokkaebi, a powerful and immortal entity which can only be killed by the goblin’s bride.
900 years later, Ji Eun-Tak is a high school student (she’s 19-20, the age at which korean usually finish high school !) with the ability to see ghosts. Her mother died when she was 10. On that night, she met the Grim Reaper.
And as you can expect from me presenting this to you in such a way, Eun Tak is the Goblin’s bride, though she does not know of the duty that comes with that role.
The show is funny, beautiful, heartwrenching. The characters are PHENOMENAL, and not just the main protagonists, but you’ll see what I mean. The concepts presented in the show are so interesting ! Especially their vison of death, reincarnation, redemption... It’s an incredible and emotional journey all the way. It doesn’t shy away from sadness and tragedy when it is needed or expected (unlike W *cough*)  and yet manages to leave you elated and smiling (through the tears). A classic that you NEED to watch. And that I wanna rewatch too.
Tumblr media
Scarlet Heart : Ryeo
I’ve just noticed that my top dramas are all super sad.
It’s based on a chinese Drama. After a terrible break up that left her in a ditch, emotionally and financially, the heroine almost drowns during an eclipse. She wakes up in the Josen period as Hae Soo, a young lady in waiting to the wife of one of the 8 princes of the kingdom. As she gets accustomed to this new and strange setting, she gets to know the princes, the schemings of the court, the rivalries and the dangers of that period.
Lee Ji Eun (aka IU) is phenomenal. I think this was her second or third role ever, and her first big role and holy crap she is incredible. Her character is just perfect and it’s really great to see her evolve, grow and try to keep up against this cruel time.  I don’t want to say much about it because i really don’t want to spoil anything.
The story spans over like 15 years if I remember correctly. And what might seem like a cutesy quirky romance period drama turns into something darker and heavier while never losing its spark. It will make you cry, but like, in a good way. That was the first drama I watched with my best friend and it’s awesome and now I kind wanna rewatch it.
Tumblr media
Just Between Lovers/Rain or Shine
Rain or Shine never pretended to be cute or happy. It deals with trauma and survivor’s guilt, and it also involve disabled characters. Lee Gang Doo (JUNHO!!!!!) and Ha Moon Soo were both involved in the collapse of a shopping center as teenagers. Now grown up, the experience still haunts them and those around them. Now the site of the incident is going to get rebuilt again, and they will have to face their past.
I binge-watched this so hard I barely slept. The characters are incredibly human and vulnerable. They bare their soul to the viewer in a way that leaves you completely shaken. And yet amidst all that, what I remember from it is softness (and tears, lots of tears). I think Gang Doo is the most outstanding male protagonist of all the dramas I’ve seen. He’s vulnerable, like. SO VULNERABLE. He’s a coward, he cries, he runs away from his problems, he keeps everything to himself. Moon Soo seems like she’s just a quirky shy girl but she turns out to be so strong, she’s the exact opposite of Gang Doo in a way, but somehow they work together so well.
As a sidenote, I’d like to add something that striked me when I watched it, pleasantly so. The disabled characters are mentionned retain their agency. One of them is an autistic man, although he might seem like he’s infantilized during the series, in the end he still retains his agency as a person and as an adult and I thought that was really great to see, especially in a Korean drama. The other is a paraplegic woman, and she’s incredible. Despite her situation, she isn’t completely desexualised, she still retains romantic and sexual agency and she is also completely independant, as a successful webcomic artist.
I had a hard time deciding between that one, Scarlet Heart and Goblin for my favourite, but I think that one is closer to my heart. It really touched me in a way I didn’t expect, and I felt so close to the characters, because they were so well written.
Part 2: The Bad (aka Not really, I probably just got bored bc of the aformentioned reasons)
A Korean Odyssey (AKA discount Goblin): it’s an interesting take on the tale of the Monkey King. woman sees ghosts, woman meets weird magical entity. There’s someone killing someone else involved. It’s a bit cheesy, it’s kinda funny. I stopped because it was just drama atop drama and quiproquos and “I’m not gonna tell him/her because I wanna protect her/him but that’s just gonna make it worse !!!!” and that sort of stuff. In my mind it was kind of cheap plot devices. Interesting concepts though, and you could definitely make a nice mash-up with Goblin.
Radio Romance: It’s a cute romance, the cast is good, the heroine is cool, the male lead is cute. I was watching it weekly and at some point I just lost interest. I don’t know if I’ll ever finish it. Girl wants to be a writer for the radio, famous actor agrees to hos her show. Drama happens. It’s cute you should watch it if you have a longer attention span than me.
Temperature of Love: Woman meets a guy. She wants to be a writer, he wants to be a chef. One day he disappears, she becomes a writer, he becomes a chef. They meet again. It’s very cheesy, BUT it’s super hot. Yang Se Jong is super cute and he’s really popular atm. I just didn’t care enough to watch completely but I don’t have any real complaint.
Hospital Ship : I ALMOST watched til the end, until there was like a ridiculous plot point because we can’t just let the protags be happy, it needs DRAMA. I love medical dramas. My favourite show is actually Grey’s Anatomy. I love when there are different cases every episode and having the characters try to figure things out. Like, the medical is my favourite part of Medical Dramas, the drama not so much. So I bailed when it was TOO MUCH drama for me. The heroine is cool. It’s a bit on the cheap side, but it has a nice feeling to it.
Doctors : The heroine is a kick ass (litterally), but I didn’t like the romance, and it focused more on the drama than the medical imo. Lots of people like it though, and Park Shin Hye is a phenomenal actress.
School 2017: SCHOOL’S OUT FOREVER. Apparently School 20-- are a popular series and each season as nothing to do with the other. This one was great imo, it adressed the pressure in the korean educational system, the corruption, the privilege of rich students, adult indifference, abuse, bullying... And the main protags are great. The heroine is cute and hilarious and strong willed, the male lead is hot, awkward... I didn’t finish it because ... I don’t know, I just interest. Also... Yeah ok spoiler ! So I learned that there wasn’t actually a kiss between the main couple in the show (which has probably to do with the fact that the actress is an idol. Ugh) and so I was like “UHM WHAT’S THE POINT THEN ???” I’m shallow like that
My Secret Romance: Girl has a one night stand on the beach, leaves the guy naked in a car and bails. 3 years later he’s her boss. It’s hot, but SUPER cheesy and SUPER cheap. Like honestly the only reason I watched it was for the romanc but DAMN BANG SUNG HOON IS SUPER HOOOOOT. But hotness can only keep you going for so long and when the plot devices you would expect in a cinderella story happen you’re just like “ugh bye”.
Ms Perfect: I need to finish it. A mom of 2 gets fired, she learns her husband is cheating on her, the mistress dies mysteriously, and also a weird psycho offers to live in her house. I need to finish it but I guess it just got a little too much for me. There’s Sung Joon in it, he’s really cute, i like him a lot. He’s also in the two next dramas.
Madame Antoine: A woman pretends to be a medium channelling the spirit of Marie-Antoinette and teams up with a psychologist (Sung Joon) who’s also conducting an experiment on her. Cheesy. Not that interesting, but the case they study are interesting sometimes. There’s Hwang Seung Eon in it, she’s super hot.
High Society: Basically about the korean Jet Set. Watched for Sung Joon initially. It’s an older one, and I think it’s a bit tacky. It’s also a lot of clichés, and I don’t like the heroine. I love her best friend though, and her relationship with Sung Joon’s best friend in the show, played by Park Hyung Sik. But yeah, it’s not a high IQ show.
Strong Woman Do Bong Soon: this also has Park Hyung Sik in it. I think he’s really cute. Bong Soon was born with super strength and she wants to work in the video game industry. She meets video game company CEO whatshisname (Park Hyung Sik) and he hires her as his bodyguard and huh stuff happens. It’s cheesy, but somehow super creepy as well cause there’s a serial killer who kidnaps women in it and he’s soooooooooooooooo creepy. But it’s also infuriating cause it’s like “Oh no, a young woman got kidnapped for the fourth time in that area ! *cut to another young woman not giving a shit and walking around that area at night also the police doesn’t patrol the area for some reason*”. It was really popular, but I didn’t really like it.
Tomorrow with you : guys can travel in a few years in time by using the metro, and he tries to set things right using this power. It’s a bit of a mindfuck and it’s kidna complicated to follow. I need to finish it !!!
Hwarang : There is no use watching this. Don’t. The cast is great but that’s just not enough. Terrible pacing, terrible romance, the side characters are way more interesting than the main ones but they get easily sidelined. The pacing is terrible. It has the dumbest death I’ve ever seen, and it was used for shock value.
Shopping King Louie: Fashionista and heir Ji Sung/Louis loses his memory in a failed assassination attempts, and ends up living with country bumpkin Bok Sil, come to Seoul to find her missing brother. I stopped watching in the last lap, basically the final obstacle was showing its head and I was like “yeah that’s enough for me”. It’s really cute.
I almsot forgot
Hit the top: artist from the early 90s travels in time to 2017 and starts living with a young man who dreams of becoming an idol who is actually his son. Didn’t like the way the romance went. Like. I really was against it. The male lead is annoying. Minjae is better.
Hip Hop Teacher: it got cancelled but FUCK IT WAS USPER GAY IT HAD LEE JOO YOUNG IN IT AS A TERRIBLE MUSIC TEACHER WHO RAPS AT NIGHT AND YURA WAS LIKE jdsiughergegreg there’s only 2 parts but watch them if you can cause it makes my wlw soul live
Part 3: The pretties, aka things I wanna watch
My Mister: just because IUs in it. She looks incredible.
Mr Sunshine: it has Kim Tae Ri !!!! Aka the handmaiden from The Handmaiden !!! It takes place in 19th century Joseon ! It adresses japanese ccupation !!!! Rebel princess !!! Korean victorian drama !!! The hot dad from Memories of the Word is there !!!!
The Great Seducer: Minjae just looks super hot in it idk but I bet he doesn’t get the girl and I’m gonna be mad.
Memory and Wok Of Love cause Junho’s in it lol.
The Ghost Detective, Something in The Rain, cause it jas Lee Joo Young in them
Part 4: Things you might want to watch
These are pretty popular, but I’m not that interested myself, you might like them.
Juggles; office romance, looks kinda steamy, the male lead is super hot
The Bride of Habaek; based on the comic Bride of The Water-god. Reallyyyyyy hot. Has Nam Joo Hyuk in it. IDDK I heard it’s good
Fight for my way: i have no idea what it’s about, but the main characters’ relationship looks cute
Legend of the Blue Sea: modern take on the Little Mermaid. The male lead is a swindler who uses hypnosis, the heroine is funny because she looks very mature and hot but she’s a mess of derp
Descendants of the Sun: it’s about a female doctor who gets sent to Afghanistan I think ?????? Everyone always praises it
Part 5: the movie
Royal Tailor: the tailor of the royal family seeks the help of an innovative tailor who usually works for prostitutes. It’s not a happy movie. Beautiful
Pirates: You wanna see kickass women kick asses ? This is for you. Your more typical martial arts movie
Memories of the sword: If you like women kicking ass too, but you also want to cry. It has Kim Go Eun, and also Junho !!!!! And the guy from Mr. Sunshine. Loved it. But super sad. Not a happy movie at all. But very cool and visually pretty.
The Handmaiden: I mean I don’t even need to explain it. If you haven’t watched it, just know that, as Park Chan Wook movies tend to, it is VERY WEIRD and unsettling.
The Last Train to Busan: ZOMBIE MOVIES !!!! It has the main actor from Goblin in it !!!! It is super cool because it’s not just “UGH zombiiiies ! Smash heads ! Violence ! Scary ooooh !” it is also a critic on greed and selfishness (and not as something stupid like “yeah zombies are actually a metaphor for consumerism”) it makes you think, it keeps you on edge, it’s not overly scary but it’s still manages to give you good scares and has some very tense moments. LOVE IT.
WOOOOOOOOOH I AM DONE. This took me 3 HOURS TO WRITE can you believe it ??? I hope this was helpful. Don’t take some of my critics to heart, I’m harsh when it comes to that sort of stuff, and very particular. If you need to watch somehting. Go for my top 5 ! Thank you for trusting my opinion that much <3

Note
In post drama interviews Junho talked abt being so immersed that he started to cry spontaneously in scenes bc he felt it was unfair for KD lol. Also he had hair loss & his nose hair turned white towards the end, when KD was sick he felt sick too. For example that swing scene with granny when he begged her to get admitted was spontaneous & they shot that scene just once. Ps, abt FMW, same tbh 😐
Oh craaaap, this is so damn powerful I can’t even! This really explains why Gang Doo touched our hearts because at that point it was real.
SWING SCENE!!! I knew it! Because it looked extremely raw and so real, I was wondering how he managed to do that. Turns out that he really got immersed in this character and he stopped playing him, he started to live as Gang Doo. I’m just so amazed.

She’s MINE (I.M x reader requested)
Tumblr media
A/N: All words in this story are 100% work of fiction none of it is real. This was a request I hope that you enjoy it and that it was okay. I enjoyed writing it request are still open if you want to request something please don’t be shy. He is so adorkable I can’t lol okay the gif isn’t mine credit to the owner. I am sorry for any grammar or spelling errors.~Zero
Pairing: I.M x reader with mentions of Monsta x, Ikon, and Sechskies
Type: Fluff, and a tiny bit of jealous I.M
Word count:1605 um..Oops (give or take)
Reading time: 15 to 20 minutes it all depends
Y/N P.O.V
Today I was invited by the host of weekly idol and starship to join Monsta X on this week's episode. I am nervous but very excited, I remember what my brother told me about his group’s experience on weekly idol, I just hope that I don’t get hit by Hyeong-don because that just sounds painful.
*Time skip to actual filming*
I guess that Monsta x wasn’t the only group that was invited today, Ikon is also here as well, I guess that is cool I mean I did a collab with Bobby but that was a few years ago before I even got signed to Starship. I met Ikon through my older brother, Ikon was looking for a female backup vocalist for one of their albums, and he put them into contact with me, however, after the collab we didn’t really keep in contact because we were both too busy working on our own things.
We are now ready to start filming Ikon was introduced first and they have been talking with the host for a while now. Ikon doesn’t know that we are here but Hyeong-don and Defconn are introducing us now.
“Jinhwan I hate to interrupt you but I was just informed that our other guests are here so now the real fun and games are about to start please welcome Monsta X.” After Monsta X did their introduction I get introduced to the show.
“Alright we have one more special guest, please introduce the wonderful, talented, rapper Y/N to the show.” I walk out into the camera’s view when my new song plays as I walk out. I first encountered Defconn and shook his hand then followed Hyeong-don’s hand I am instructed to set in one of the open seats. There is an open seat by Bobby and there is one next to my boyfriend that public doesn’t know about I.M. Me being how I am I take the seat next I.M, once I am seated I feel all eyes on me.
“Okay Y/N, we are going to be doing something a little different, what we are doing is we are going to let the other Idols here in the room ask you questions and you are going to answer then once this is over then we are going to more activities that I’m sure you brother told you about, Now does anyone have any questions?” Defconn asks.
As soon as he was finished talking Chanwoo raised his hand, “Yes, Chanwoo what is your question?” I asked looking at him.
“Um, I don’t want to seem rude so what year you born so I can greet you accordingly?”
“ I was born in 1997,” I reply slightly nodding.
Then next question is asked by Junhoe “Defconn said something about you having an older brother do we by any chance know him?”
“Yes you guys do, you are in the same company and my brother is Kang Sung-hoon of Sechskies,” I reply making eye contact with the slightly older male.
“Really?!!?” This seems to shock the other band.
“That must be where her good looks come from,” Yunhyeong states smiling at me. I feel Changkyun tense at this, slightly looking over I give him a reassuring smile.
Brushing off his comment I wait for the next question, to my dismay, it came from Yunhyeong
“Y/N did your dating ban get lifted and if so are there any lucky bachelors in mind that you can tell us about,” he asks giving me heart eyes. Slightly unconformable I shift and look at Changkyun in the corner of my eye and to say that he looked livid was an understatement.
“Um,  yes my dating ban did get lifted recently and there is this one rapper but I can’t tell who,” I say looking up at I.M slightly before looking at Yunhyeong to see if he got the message.
Questions went by smoothly and now it is the 2x dance challenge and because Hyungwon got hurt and can’t participate the host asked me to instead. Nodding I look at Hyungwon when I am about to ask for his jacket because the dance is for beautiful before I could even get the words out I get Changkyun gently placing his jacket in my arms with him sending me a wink he puts on Hyungwon’s jacket. I slip on his jacket and I am instantly engulfed in his all too familiar scent.
The song is about to start so I get into Hyungwon’s spot and let’s just say I am glad that I decided to wear pants instead of a skirt today, this shouldn't be too hard because I have watched and participated in the choreography with them before in the dance studio. By the end I think that Ikon was blown away, some even said that I could be apart of Monsta X, I took that as a huge compliment.
After Ikon’s turn of doing the 2x dance challenge, it was time for the random dance play. This time is going to be a little different they are going to play a song and we all are going to be seated and if we know the choreography then we are going to go up and dance to the song to the best of our abilities.
Sitting down I wait for the first song to play through the speakers. When the first song comes on I realize that it is 아주 NICE by Seventeen when the chorus starts I look at the boys and run out starting to dance I soon realize I am not alone and that B.I is out here as well. When I just start to get into the song it changed pausing I hear Twice’s ‘Like Ohh ahh’ play instead, quickly getting into the position I see Jooheon run out here with me and we continue. B.I wasn’t ready for the change so he was asked to set back down.
By the end of the challenge it was Changkyun, Wonho and I still up. “Okay we are going to do a tie breaker it is going to be a random song and the first one to get the moves right with the beat wins.”
“Loser’s buy dinner.” Wonho states
“Deal!!” Changkyun and I exclaim.
Changkyun, Wonho and I quickly bow to each other to show good sportsmanship. When we raise we stand side by side and wait for the song to start. When the song starts I am very surprised none of the less to hear “HERE WE COME IT”S SECHSKIES.” I laugh out loud at the dance I know all too well I start dancing and singing Chivalry (the 2016 re-album) looks like I am not buying dinner tonight.  When I look over I see I.M trying to keep up and Wonho looks so lost already.
Once it is over it is time for the host to determine the winner. “Okay so it looks like the only one who really knew the dance was Y/N so there for Kang Y/N is the winner!!”
With this new information, I get really excited. “Y/N I am so shocked, how did you know the song so well?”
“Oh, Um it is a thing that Sunghoon and I always did together, whenever there was a new song that the guys were working on they would invite me to their practices and teach me, that is actually how I learn to sing by Sunghoon working with me one on one whenever we had time. As for my rapping skills, I got those from Jaeduck, Jaejin, and Jiwon when I asked them to teach me how to rap.” I reply getting shy.
“Alright, there you have it, This was another successful episode of weekly idol with Ikon, Monsta X, and the lovely Y/N. Good bye everyone.” Once the camera got cut off we said our thanks to the host as I was about to walk off set I am stopped by none other than Yunhyeong I guess he still didn’t get the message.
“Hey, Y/n you did a really good job out there today, I was wondering if you wanted to go out on a date with me sometime?” He asked with a hopeful glint in his eyes.
Slightly sighing I look around for anyone in Monsta X when all of a sudden I feel a heavy arm on my shoulder. “Sorry Yunhyeong but I guess you didn’t get the message earlier, she’s not into you, she already has a love interest and that happens to be me so with all due respect please go and find your own girl, it’s rude to ask out taken woman. “ I.M says with a smirk in his voice looking down at me he quickly adds “Come on princess I believe I owe you dinner for losing the dance battle.” With nothing else to say we turn around and walk off.
“Did you really have to say all that?” I ask hugging I.M side tighter
“Of course I did, that guy was staring at you like you were a piece of meat the whole time we were filming that is also why I gave you my jacket.” He states proudly.
Looking down I realize that I still have on his jacket. “ Do you want your jacket back babe?” I ask looking up at him.
“No, keep it to show everyone that you are mine, and plus you look better in my clothes anyway princess.”
“I love you Changkyun,” I say as I lean up and kiss his cheek.
“I love you too babe, so much you don’t even know.”

Chan ended up in the final line-up for The Unit, hence he’s in UNB (still to promote A.C.E). Byeongkwan and Donghun also made the final line-up however the debut of the MIXNINE group got cancelled (Cause YG is sh!t).
