It's not too late to start being kind to yourself today 💕✨️ but i hope tomorrow is a better day for you if today wasn't so great 💖
So sweet of you to say that 🥺 I'm afraid I've already fallen into that vicious "I can't do this" cycle so today's lost, but as I said, maybe tomorrow will be better

hello! i would love to hear the rant about PET scans :3
Holy shit so okay I'm in the train for the next 20 minutes, and I _know_ that's not enough time to get into all of it, but I could rant about this for hours, so. Maybe we cap this at 20 minutes. [20 minutes later] Okay so I wrote a huge wall of very boring text that barely started getting into it, so let me provide way less detail, actually:
It is massively expensive. A PET scanner costs a lot. And it's not a one time purchase, and then you can do scans, no, you wish. You also need some very expensive equipment to create radioactive tracers (which are what is used to do a PET scan) on site, because that stuff needs to be created fresh (under an hour) before every scan. To create the tracers is ALSO incredibly expensive. A single PET scan costs multiple thousands.
This also means that PET research makes use of as few participants as possible. A study with 15 participants is considered big. You simply cannot infer from 15 participants to the whole population. This also means that, statistically, it is highly likely that you don't find an effect even though it exists - meaning if your PET study looks for the effect of A on B, it is highly likely that it will find that A has no effect on B even though it does - simply because you didn't have enough participants (if this explanation doesn't make sense, let me know, and I can explain in detail)
This, together means, that an absolutely absurd amount of money is used for research that, by design, will not find results, because to find results, they would need more participants and even more money.
Because scientific publishing is a shitshow at the moment, research that doesn't find results very rarely gets published, especially not if you can't even be sure whether the result is right. So absurd amounts of money put into research that doesn't even get published.
And I haven't even talked about the results they did find and issues with them. Don't ask me to explain those. Don't tempt me to put hours into writing a multiple page essay that nobody will read.
So, in conclusion: PET is an absolutely amazing feat of engineering that is magnificent in detecting cancer and with it we could learn so. Much. More about the brain and how it works. But to do that, a lot of the basic organisation of how we do science would first need to change. Many labs would have to collaborate and be okay with making the collected data openly available, so appropriate sample sizes (=numbers of participants in a study) can even be achieved (Here's a paper on that). That probably won't happen, though.
Now, obligatory note: one of the professors who taught me about PET is a man who wrote an extremely controversial paper about exactly this stuff, despite also using PET in his research. If you like niche drama in science, look into this paper and all the articles that are responding to it.

Cut Songs
Just to give you an idea of how much work I put into my Cornelius x Franny playlist, here is a list of songs that were cut from it, with explanations as to why. 1. Eraser Girl by Maretu - Oh man, this song is dark... Before I had a concrete theme, I had a lot of "dark love" songs on there, this being one of them. This song in particular ends with both partners committing suicide together. 2. In The Bedroom, Royal Suite, Secret Grotto, Private Table, and Rooftop Lounge from HuniePop - Cut for one reason... THEY'RE NOT ON SPOTIFY. It sucks because these songs are PERFECT. UGH. 3. Boom Boom Boom by KIRA - Couldn't make it fit... unfortunately. Real sad because this a song you could easily imagine Neil and Franny singing... well, vocaloid versions of them, ha ha. 4. Saw and Pendulum by (?) ft. Hatsune Miku - Another dark song I cut once I found a theme. It's a yandere song, and like most yandere songs, someone got murdered. 5. Games by KIRA - Another one I just couldn't make fit. I do plan on doing something with this one, though. 6. Hot Milk by MentaiRocker - Cut because it was too hardcore of a sound for the playlist, and I had settled on the one rock song I was gonna put on the playlist. 7. SYMBIOTIC by Starset - Same as above. 8. Saccharine by Jazmin Bean - This was more of a "love is disgusting" type of song. It was cut very early on. 9. Soap by Melanie Martinez - The vibe didn't quite fit for this one. 10. stillness in woe by Purity Ring - Cut because the lyrics were too cryptic, as well as too "ethereal" sounding. 11. Holy Lance Explosion Boy by rerulili - Not really a love song... more like a "we fucked up so now we gotta stay together" type of song. 12. Two Faced Lovers by wowaka (rip) - Again, wasn't really a love song. Just a dark story about two "lovers." 13. SuperNova by Spott - Because breakcore definitely didn't fit the vibe... oh well... 14. Cosmos Love by Lexie - It's not on Spotify :( 15. Darling by BlueBrony - Also not on Spotify... ugh. The good ones never are. 16. Veni Vidi Vici (Magic) by Scraton - Cut last minute because I couldn't make it fit anywhere. But I also realized that the filter on the samples makes it sound like Boyfriend from Friday Night Funkin' is singing it. 17. Fluffy Chocolate Bunnies by Mr. Sunset - Not. On. Spotify! UGGHHH! That song is so good, too!!!! 18. Breathing Space by DJT and Rusyd Rosman (Shuffle Horse Remix) - Say it with me everybody... it's not on Spotify... 19. Star Lily Dance Performance by MASA WORKS DESIGN - It's part of the Onibi series, and if you know what that means because vocaloid was a part of your childhood like me, then you know exactly why it was cut... 20. Brass Noise Flamenco by MASA WORKS DESIGN - I realized Cornelius and Franny ain't like that, so it was cut. 21. Sick Sick Sick by Pinnochio-P - Another one that was cut last minute because I couldn't quite make it fit. 22. Jenny by Studio Killers - ... I can't not see this as a lesbian love song, I'm sorry y'all. 23. Kuru Kuru Pa! by Lamaze-P - Because I'm gonna make a stand alone piece for this song. I'm inspired, lol. 24. Hole-dwelling by Kikuo - Too depressing for the theme I was going for. 25. But I Like It by Lauren Sanderson - The sound was too hardcore for the theme, same as the others above. 26. La La Lainey by Forever The Sickest Kids - Cut because it's more of a Cornelius x Lizzy song, to be honest... 27. 1980s Horror Film by Wallows - Ah, the good ol' bait and switch. Unfortunately, not good for the playlist. 28. Butterfly's Repose by Zabawa - WAAAAAY too sad for the theme. I ain't tryna make anybody cry. 29. Lemonade by Nicole Dollanganger - Too dark. Ends with murder... 30. Heart Shaped Bed by Nicole Dollanganger - Cut mostly because I have an image idea for this one.
I listen to way too much angst... But hey, all that angst can make for some cool images! Eventually.

Professor Priapism
I woke up this morning with an erection. Morning wood, as it's called, is not an uncommon occurrence for most men. Erik had voiced concern but he tends to fuss over me. As I can't feel pain or move much below my waist. He feels guilty too as if he could have saved me from becoming wheelchair bound. I prefer to see it as love rather than guilt. I love him very much, just as I know he loves me.
It's been 15 minutes and my little wood issue is starting to itch like pins and needles. Erik was correct. I should have listened to him. I can't spend the whole day with a clipboard in my lap and I'm starting to fear permanent damage. I've read about Priapism after my spinal cord injury; it hasn't been a problem up until now.
I give my students a study hall period and trust them to study together quietly and peacefully. I quickly wheel myself down to Hank's lab. It's also the school medical bay. Hank is the most brilliant of my former students; he has several PhDs, a medical license and a political career. He is now a colleague and a trusted friend.
A friend that now has to stick needles in my penis to ensure my genitals don't fall off. God this is embarrassing. We are both mature adults who can handle this with grace and professionalism. But I still clearly remember Henry as a teenager. This makes me feel old. Not to mention perverted. None of this is anyone's fault, but that fact doesn't make me feel better about it.
I sneak into one of the exam rooms and summon Hank telepathically. I am not going to make any more fuss or noise then I have to. I don't want this getting out, kids can be cruel but Logan can be a right ass.
I have no desire to become Professor Priapism. It has alliteration and that makes it catchy. The only people I ever want talking about my penis are either Hank(my doctor) or Erik(my partner and best friend).
Hank came in and quickly shut the door. "Hey ya professor, what seem to be the big emergency then?" I simply move my clipboard onto the exam table. "Oh my, is that a flashlight in your pocket or are you just happy to see me professor?"
"I'm very happy to see you, I'm pretty sure this is Priapism, it's gone up and won't come down. I definitely need your help. I'm scared I'm going to lose it and I have kids to teach. This is so embarrassing I just want it back to normal before I start getting called professor Priapism because you know how Logan can be. I'm to busy for this shit. Fuck."
"I hear you, just breathe, stressing will just Make this worse. Let's start by getting your pants off so I can take a look at the problem."
I lift myself up from my chair letting Hank do what he has to.
"I doubt anyone but us know what Priapism is. If anything the kids would call you professor peepee."
"That is so much worse. Just fix it please."
Hank simply handed me a lollipop
"Try this. It will help calm your nerves."
"I'm not a child."
"Just trust me."
"You'll want to look away for this part."
I trust him and look away, focusing on eating the lollipop. It actually does help calm me down.
" Let's put some ice on it while I analyse the sample."
Now I'm sitting in my chair with an ice pack in my lap sucking on a lollipop while Hank analyzes my blood under a microscope. I feel really rather silly right about now. At Least I’m feeling a bit better about it.
It didn't take too long for it to return to normal. Hank took my vitals and did a few nerve tests. I haven't got that done in years luckily everything was normal, At Least normal for me that is. The lesson here is that something can feel like a big disaster but turn out just fine with a little attention. That sounded wrong. What I mean is anxiety makes everything feel a lot worse than it actually is. Everything is just fine because that's how you make it. That's what losing the use of my legs taught me. Everything has a solution as long as you chill out about it. As Jubilee would say.

Chapter 1 - Alone - Third A&E Series.
A/N: I originally posted this on a side blog but I was having trouble switching between the two and I also didn’t want to start again. As I said there this A&E series is a lot more darker, hitting RL subjects I have been through myself please don’t judge me as you can’t make me feel an worse than I have made myself in the past. The stigma around these subjects are real and so many people don’t speak out about them. Friends and family don’t even know the secrets I will reveal in these chapters as I am ashamed and worry about what they will think. I hope this helps even just one person realise they aren’t alone. I hope you like it 😘
I’m not going to annoy people with re-tags, so I’m not tagging in these first two chapters as most my usual tags have read it.
Find previous chapters HERE under Together - Adam & Ellie.
Word count: 1905
WARNINGS: ⚠️ Angst & adult language.
Pairings: Adam x Ellie.
Enjoy!

A Year and a half after the last chapter of A&E Together.
"She's beautiful, Ellie! A girl! We have a little girl," she looks over to him feeding their daughter. All the panic and worry was worth it! She thought to herself as she's getting stitched up.
16 week's earlier.
This pregnancy had been harder on her than Charlie's, her morning sickness had carried on until 24 weeks, she was in pain with her hips and back. Adam made her give up work at 32 weeks. She was reluctant, but knew he was right, plus at home, she could do more research on shops for sale in London.
By the time she had hit 36 weeks she had found the perfect shop, they had a cheeky weekend away in London to view the property while Ellie's mum had Charlie for them. Being heavily pregnant they didn't do much sight seeing, but they did spent a lot of time tangled beneath the sheets in the hotel room. This would probably be the last time in a long time they would have time alone, so they wanted to make the most of it.
When they arrived back home Ellie had to sort out the internal and external work. She had put in an offer and was in the proceeds of owning the new shop being, so close to the end of her pregnancy Adam took over all the dealings of the new shop not wanting his wife stressed. 40 weeks Ellie woke on her due date irritated and fed up with being pregnant their little lady showed no signs of wanting to come out.
That afternoon Ellie was in the bathroom when she thought her water had broken, looking down at the floor, she was expecting to see clear waters but instead she saw crimson red puddles of blood. She calls out to Adam who was downstairs soon rushed up to his panicked wife. Shock grew on his face as he saw what had her so panicky. He quickly regained his composure, trying not to worry his heavily pregnant wife.
Adam quickly called her midwife who told them to head to the hospital after dropping Charlie at Elaine's door. He helped an hysterical Ellie into the car. On the way her contractions started they were very close together so when they arrived, he practically had to bridal carry her out to the car with her bag to the labour ward where they handed him a wheel chair. Once in the delivery suite and after a few puffs of gas and air Ellie start to calm down she was so mellow that she wasn't even bothered when the doctor took a sample of her blood, she usually hated blood tests but the gas and air had worked its magic.
When the doctor came in Ellie was completely out of it. Between contractions, she was drifting, those few seconds between each one felt like heaven "Sorry, did you say your name is Doctor Curry? I bet you had the korma taken out of you at school!" she laughs at her own joke, then apologizes when she realised what she had said "Don't worry, I know it's the gas and air talking believe me, I've had worse. We are just going to listen to baby and see how they are! OK?" She nods.
After 10 minutes whooshing the doctor and midwife didn't look very happy with the result "What's wrong?" She asked him. He had that look all doctor have when they're about to tell you bad news "You baby's heart beat keeps dipping" tears started forming in her eyes "Dipping? What do you mean?" He hands her a tissue "Mrs Barlow, we want to deliver your baby as safely as possible and with the fluctuations of their heart beat you have an hour to deliver this baby, or we will have to take you down to theatre for an emergency c-section" her heart sank "But how am I going to have a baby in less than an hour? She just said I'm only 3 centimetres" She looks up at Adam, he's calm which soothe her.
"Well, we need to first break your waters, hopefully that should speed things along a bit. So, I'm going to leave Charlotte here to do that and I will be back in half an hour to see how you are doing" DR. Curry makes his way for the door. "Ellie, after your next contraction I'm going try and break your waters. So, I need you to tell me when it's over, OK?" Ellie nods the next contraction comes and goes. Charlotte successful breaks her waters "That feels so warm!" Ellie laughs just as the next contraction starts to build.
"Oh my god! I feel like I need to push!" She screams as the contraction takes hold. "Ellie if you need to push, then push, but little pushes!" Scared her body is tricking her, she refuses "I can't! You said I was only 3 centimetres. I'm not ready!" She hisses at Charlotte "Hey Ellie, listen to me if that's what your body wants to do then do it. I will keep an eye if nothing happens we will stop! OK? You need to trust what your body is telling you to do!"
The next contraction build she begins to push... crashing Adam's hand in the process until it fades again "You're doing brilliant, beautiful" Adam kisses her forehead "Anything?" She asks her midwife "Well, I can see the top of baby's head..." She's cut off by the next contractions "There's the head" Charlotte tells her "With the next contraction she'll be here" another starts and Ellie pushes again "And here she is 7:43PM welcome to the world little one!" Charlotte says as she cleans her up.
"Ellie, you did it again! She's here!" Adam cups her face and kisses her lips "Skin to skin?" Charlotte asks, Ellie nods "I'll just get Daddy to cut the cord" she looks over to Adam and hands him the scissors. He proudly cuts through the cord before Charlotte moves her to Ellie's chest "Does she have a name?" Charlotte looks at both of them "We're still haven't decid..." she cuts Adam off "Delilah!" Ellie looks up at Adam as the brightest smile appears on his face "Aww that's lovely! Where did you get that from?" She asks the pair.
"It was my Nan's name" Adam says not quite believing she finally had a name and a name that means something to him. "That's sweet! Ellie do you want to give Delilah to Daddy while we get this afterbirth delivered?" Charlotte places Delilah in a towel passes her to Adam as DR. Curry walks in "How are we do...oh baby is here! Wow how long did that take?" He looks over to Charlotte "15 minutes after I broke her water. She had the urge to push right away!" He looks at her stunned "Whoa! That's amazing have you requested her IV drip yet?"
Ellie looks confused "IV drip?" He looks over to her "We estimated you probably lost just over a pint of blood. This will just stop anymore bleeding" Charlotte smiles at a worried Ellie "Nothing to worry about its just because you've lost more than usually. It's routine"
"I'll go and get what we need. While you finish up in here" DR. Curry says as he leave the room.
Later, Charlotte has shift had ended and a new midwife had taken over "When can I go for a shower?" Ellie asks her new midwife Demi she wanders over checks the IV drip monitor "You have another 45 minutes on this then you should be OK" another midwife walks in and calls Demi out of the room a few minutes later she comes back in "We are going to have to move you up to postnatal ward now" Ellie looked shocked with Charlie's Labour she was allowed to have a shower before heading up.
Her legs were still covered in blood as well as her hospital gown. She got off the bed with her IV drip and into a wheelchair, Adam close behind with Delilah. She gets into her cubicle and take a seat in the chair after the midwife leave, she bursts into tears Adam puts Delilah down in her cot and rushes over to his wife "Hey, what's up beautiful?"
She looks up at him "Everything I'm covered in blood, I'm still in this awful thing. I want get into bed, but I can't sit on there like this! I want to cuddle my baby, but my arms are cover in blood. I feel dirty like I'm a cast member of the walking dead! And from what it sounds like we have a snorer the other side of this stupid curtain" He lifts up his wife's chin "Watch Delilah I'll be back in a minute" he gets up and leaves the cubicle through the curtain.
10 minutes later he comes back with a wheel chair and a midwife "You help her into the chair and grab her bag I'll grab baby" the midwife tells Adam. Wiping her tears she looks up at him "What's going on?" He smiles at her "You'll see now come on!" He lifts her out of her chair and into the wheel chair. They walk down the hall and through a door. Once inside she spots another bed and a bathroom "Adam?"
She looks up at him "This was the last one they had!" She looks at him still confused, he laughs, "£90 a night for a private room with a bath in the bathroom and this lovely lady has said if you've had over 80 percent of that drip she'll take it off you, so you can go for a soak" her eyes well up and she starts to cry again.
"It suppose to make you happy not sad!" He laughs, "Happy tears!" The midwife smiles at them both as she catches sight of Ellie, she shook her head "Oh dear, look at the state of you! They let you come up here like that! You poor thing, let me put her next to the bed and get you off this. Even if I have to put you back on after you can't sit like that!" She puts Delilah next the bed and takes Ellie off the drip before helping her to the bathroom.
20 minutes later all fresh from her shower, she emerges from the bathroom in her own comfortable clothes. Adam is changing Delilahs nappy. He looks up "Feeling better?" She smiles as she nods at him before she gets onto the bed next him. She places a kiss on his cheek, "Thank you!" He looks over to her "Why are you thanking me? You did all the hard work!" He places Delilah back in her cot "You were calm while I was losing it! I crashed your hand and you spent money on a hospital room just to make me happy!"
He laughs, "I did have my own motives! No one, not even me was going to sleep with a motorbike snoring next door!" he pulls her to his chest and pulls over the blanket over the both of them "We better sleep while she does. So, night beautiful!" She kisses his cheek "Night! I love you!" She feels him chuckle "I love you more"

2.᯾𝔼𝕟𝕥𝕣𝕒𝕟𝕔𝕖 𝔼𝕩𝕒𝕞᯾
Tumblr media
Ayama POV
I heard my alarm going off. "Welp today the day. I better get ready." I touch my head to take my bonnet off. But it wasn't there. "You what. I might as well look in the closet. Because it not going to be on my bed."
Well at least I have silk pillows cases. I'll look for it later. I go to my closest to get out my old dress. Then went to the bathroom.
After 5 minutes I put my uniform and went back to my room I got all of my things and put them inside my bag.
I then walked downstairs and went towards the kitchen. I was just going to pour me some cereal. But I saw pancakes on the table.
I walk closer to see they were homemade fluffy cat shape pancakes. There was a note beside it.
"Do your best Lyric."
-Love, Dad
"Thanks dad." I can't help but smile at the note. After a few minutes of eating. I clean my plate and cup. And went to put my shoes on.
"Meow." I look back and saw Leo. "You have crumbs on your face." I giggled as I brush them off. "You two be good alright?" I asked. He nods. "Okay, I'll see you later."
I headed out the house. Locking the door from behind. I was only 6:25 when I left the house and the exam at the hero academy didn't start until 7:15. I really wish I some music on me. Oh well. I would only take me 5 minutes to get there getting on the train today.
I saw Izuku getting on the train before me. I would've spoken to him but he seems out of it and look deep in thoughts. I just stood close to him about 4 feet away. The digital clock on the bus said it was 6:30.
He got off before me. I got held back by the crowd making me 10 feet away from him. "Jeez." I finally got to the school building. "Stupid Deku." That voice.
"Kaachan." 'I haven't heard that name in a while.' "Get out of my way, now, before I set you on fire." Bakugou spoke angrily. He hasn't changed one bit. Then Midoriya started to freak out a bit. I wait until Katsuki was about 6 feet away from him. Although, I notice that his voice got deeper. Just sayin'
"Midoriya! Wait!" I shouted he turned his back around to me. I finally caught up to him while some people were waiting outside.
"Oh hey Ayama." He waved at me. "Oh you change your hair?" He asked. "Well kinda. You see my hair can change it curl pattern whenever I wash it. And I forgot to put on a shower cap this morning when I took a shower." I sighed.
"The style really looks good on you!" He said blushing a bit. I ignore the blush not knowing what he's blushing for or at. But he looks cute.
"So have you got it yet?" I whisper. "Yeah he said it going to hurt though. I had to eat his hair, before leaving to get here. I've may have eaten but I don't feel any stronger." He said while sulking. I just pat him on the back.
"I'm sure it'll sink in" I reassured him. "Right. But, bring it all you got, Ayama!" He said. "You too, Deku!" I said giggling a bit. He so cute.
"Hey! Are you guys ready for the exams?" A girl ask us. We turned around. Izuku went full on pink. She was about 5'1 I think. "Of course. Right Izuku! Izuku?" I asked him. He started to stutter a lot.
"Oh, y-yeah." He was a mess. I wonder if I would see Momo here. I went to middle school with her. She was my only friend there to be honest.
"Call me Uraraka." She spoke holding her hand out. I shook it. "Nice to meet you Uraraka-san. I'm Ayama." I said. "What your last name?" She asked. "Umm. I rather not say." I told her. " Oh and this is Midoriya." Introduce her to him.
"Nice to meet you." She said nicely. She was so cheerful. "Y-yo-you t-to!" He shouted. "We better get inside now. Don't want to get lock out." Uraraka said. "Oh your right it's 6:55." I said. "Oh and Midoriya you got this. You as well, Uraraka." I said. "Right let's do our best." She said as Midoriya nodded.
She goes ahead of us as I had to help Midoriya to get it together which took a minute. Once we got in we had to put our things in the open lockers. Their was security so nobody had to worry about getting there's things stolen.
Everyone was assigned seating. I was sitting way far from the others. I was on the 5th row to the front. Lord know how far from Izuku or Katsuki. I was sitting next to Momo. Turns out she was wondering if I was going to be here as well.
God this is going to be embarrassing. If I just look at my paper. Maybe I won't have to see my uncle.
Bakugo, Katsuki POV
"Midoriya wait!" A voice call out. Who would want a loser to wait for them. I didn't even turn around, because whoever called his name is probably also a loser or nerd.
"Oh hey Ayama." Deku said. Wait what. I turned my head around. The last time I saw Ayama her hair was down into a ponytail. This girl hair was very very curly, but I knew Ayama could do that as well. I couldn't tell what her skin look like because I only saw a glimpse of it. But even that was too damn fast.
I couldn't see what's the girl looked like so I just kept walking. I didn't think Ayama would be here. Whatever it's not like she'll beat me anyways. Wether she's here or not.
Midoriya, Izuku POV
"What's up, UA candidates? Thanks for tunin' in to me, your school DJ. Come on and let me hear ya!" Present Mic shouted. It was silence when he asked, but I was fan boying over it.
"Keeping it Mello huh. That's fine I'll skip straight to the main show. Let's talk about how this practical exam is gonna go down, okay?" He said.
"Are you ready? Yeah!" He shouted. Still silence
"Oh my goodness, it's the Voice Hero, Present Mic. So cool!" I said whispering. "I listen to his radio show every day of the week. It's so crazy nuts that all the UA teachers are pro heroes-" " Will you shut up." He said.
"Like your application said, Today you rockin' boys and girls will be out there conducting ten-minute mock battles in super-hip urban settings." Present Mic continue.
"Gird your lion, my friends. After I drop the mic here you'll head to your specific battle center, sound good?" He asked still silence. As everyone was looking at there card.
"Okay?" He shouted. "I see. Their splitting us up so we can't work with any of our friends." Kaachan spoke. I jumped a little terrified. "Yeah you're right." I said as I look at both of our card. I was put into center B while he had center A.
"Our examine numbers are one after the other, but we're assign different battle centers." I said still looking at our cards. "Get your eyes off my card." Kaachan said angrily. And I moved away a little from him a bit frightened.
"Damn. I was really looking forward to crushing you." He said as I just laughed nervously. Maybe he'll get Ayama in his battle center.
Ayama POV
"Okay, okay, let's check out your targets. There are three types of faux villains in every battle center. You'll earn points based on their level of difficulty. So better chose wisely.
Your goal in this trial is to use quirk to raise your score by shredding these faux villains like a mid-song guitar solo. But check it! Make sure your keep'n things heroic. Attacking other examine is a U.A big no-no, ya dig?"
This is too embrassing to watch, but I do hope that Izuku can get through this. He just got his quirk. And it going to bruise him. I got center B. I wonder what he and Katsuki got.
A student then spoke up about the robots. Which my uncle quickly answers that saying it was a bonus villain. Although he decided to point out Izuku who been muttering this whole time.
It kinda gets me upset, but yet again it's not like he knew why he doing it in the first place. Geeze this whole thing might as well be a video game that they put out. Big million dollars idea.
"That's all I got for you today. I'll sign off with a little present." My uncle said. "Oh God please no." I whisper knowing it would be a tough crowd. "A sample of our school motto." Then he continued on to speak as I just said the words in my head. Turns out. I don't have Momo with me, sadly.
"You ready go beyond? Let's hear a Plus Ultra!" My uncle shouted. I just put my head in my hands. "Good Luck!" He then continue to go on something about books.
We a got changed into out own gym wear. I was just wearing a black sweat shirt that was short sleeve. And long black sweat pants.
I seen Izuku was going up to Uraraka, so I decided to start going towards the robots. "Hey what's is she doing!?" I heard one student asked. "They didn't even say go yet!" Another shouted.
"She on the right track! There are no countdowns in real battle! Run run listener you're wasting air time here!" Uncle present Mic shouted. I could hear everyone running up towards me.
By that time all of the robots came towards us. I quickly use my voice to scream damaging them by a ton. That should be about 56 points. The robots got up again unsurprisingly. And the other students got a turn.
I got to see of their quirks as my uncle mic pointed out each of their quirks, but mines not that I care considering my situation.
Suddenly the whole battle center started to shake. I look towards Uraraka, Ochako she also notice it after throwing up.
"The fourth robot." I mutter. The robot made it first punch which had a incredible force. Although I kept my feets on the ground. On foot in front of the other and making an X with my arms. I was standing about 5 feet from it. "Less than two minutes!" Uncle mic shouted.
All the students started to run away. Something told me to stay put and look at my surrounding. That when I notice Uraraka was stuck. My eyes widened. Instead of running from danger I ran towards it to help Uraraka out.
"Ayama what are you doing you'll get crushed!" She told me. "I know but it worth it." I said and it confused her. I have a feeling that Izuku power would snap in any moment by now.
And I was right. I had to quickly sing something, so I did. (Ocean eyes.) Making my eyes water and form a protective barrier around u. I saw Izuku use the one for all power in his arm punching the robot away and making it fall down.
I stop singing, bringing the barrier down then look at Uraraka quickly to use her power to lift of the hard cement rock above her leg.
"Hey you okay?" I asked her she nodded. But I had to help her up. I felt really bad about Izuku. He knocked down the robot, but it was zero points.
We heard the students whisper all round. His eyes were dull in shock. I don't think he could've felt the pain in his arm. With the adrenaline running.
Recovery girl well, I call her Nana. She kissed them both healing them. Me and Uraraka look at each, both agreeing on what do to about Midoriya.
We went towards the judge's room to ask them if we could give Izuku our points, but surprisingly they said the judges already did something for him. So we left. "It's nice knowing you Uraraka." I said. "You too Ayama. Hopefully I'll see you at this school." She said.
"You too." I wave at her goodbye. I knew I was getting in regardless. I turned my phone on walking towards the train station. Once It's stop at the 3rd stop I saw Midoriya getting off. He look sad but I only smile knowing he'll get in.
I got off at my stop. Walking home I just sung a song that was in my head. I knew people could hear, but I closed them out. Although I'm careful to sing around my dad. Knowing how my mother death affect him. He said he likes to hear me sing more, but I feel like it's only going to hurt him. I notice my dad was home because of his car.
I walk in the house to have the smell cheesey spicy noodles up my nose. When it comes to food. I just know what it is. I took my shoes off. "I'm home." I said while taking my earphones out.
I saw my dad in front of me. "I would open this first." He said handing it to me. Then went to the kitchen. So much for bonding. Don't get me wrong we bond a lot, but I mostly lock myself away in my room.
I rush up to my room. Putting my bag on my bed. I put the envelope on my desk and sat down on my chair. I open it only for  a virtual screen pop up. "Hello Ayama!" It was Uncle Might."This gotta be a joke." I said in shock.
"I know you would be shock, but you see I didn't come to this cities just to fight villains, but I'm the U.A newest faulty member!" I'm not too surprised that this
"I would like to say that's you have an amazing voice and power. You know what I love to hear it again." Uncle all might spoke. Don't tell me..
"Roll it!" He shouted then move out of the way. "God, please no." I heard my voice. It's sounds wonderful and calm, but I get embarrassed of it. Once it ends I lookup again.
"Wow what a wonderful voice. You have. Now that over with let's look at your scores. "No way! I got second place!" I shouted happily. I was just happy, but I had to look again for any of my others friends.
I see Izuku got 7th place at least they gave him a chance. Ochako was in 3rd place, while Katsuki was....1st. it didn't show my last name on there. I had 58 villain points and 47 rescue points.
"We are looking forward to having you here at U.A see you there!" Then it shut off. I had taken all in. I heard a knock on my door. It then open.
"I heard good job Ayama. Your mom would be proud of you." My dad said. I went to him and hug him. I think he was a bit shock by it. "Thanks Dad." I said. "You work for it." He said kissing my head. He proceeded to hand me my uniform outfit.

‘False lovin, when was illogical. Didn't know they held each other hands as they made one whole’
The same melody. "Alright dinner ready. Let's eat." He said. I nodded. While we walk down stairs look at my mother picture. I smile at it. I won't let you down. "Hey do you mind if I walk to school on the first day?" I asked.
"How come you don't wanna ride in the car with me?" He asked I was scared he would asked that. "It's just I wanna walk to school on my first day that all." I said. I just really felt like walking on the first day while singing.
"Does this have to do with your singing?" He ask. Dang. "No. I just really feel like walking to school on the first day." I said. I felt a bit of tension, but it drop as soon as he sighed.
"Fine." He sighed. "Dad you worry to much." I said as I gave him a kiss on the forehead then told him good night. He has so much concern in his eyes.
We talked about how uncle All Might going to be teaching the students and that lead to a lot of laughs. He then turn it into something serious as in what to do if someone ask for my last name. I gone through my whole life with nobody knowing what my last name is. Well except for pro heros.
I decided to turn in, because it was getting late and this is the first week of a school week. I guess you could say. I did my nightly routine. I then put my bonnet on and went straight to bed.
Ugh what a day.
Aizawa, Shota POV
She just like her mother. The only time I she her like me is when something serious or she just at home. God, what if one day she runs into Khessō.
And I know I can't keep this " Your mom died when you were born." Up forever. Eventually she'll find out. I got up from the table to walk up stairs. I stop to look at her picture that Ayama was looking at.
The last thing from I saw from Khessō was that note. 'I'm been kidnapped don't come looking for me keep Ayama safe. I love you both.' I put the picture down and turn the lights off walking up stairs. It's was when Ayame just turn a month old.
I look into my daughter room who was sleeping peacefully.  Reminds me of her mother. I know Ayama think her singing hurts me, but does the opposite.
I closed my daughter door and went towards mines. The room was clean, but missing her things. The bed was always missing a person.

A Trip into the Factory
Summary: Maude gets invited into the factory for the first time in years. Chaos and fluff ensues.
A/N: This really is an excuse for me to try and write Wonka a little better. It's not too great I'll admit that, but I'm still getting used to writing him, lmaoooo.
Tumblr media
It was a typical Tuesday afternoon for Maude, which mainly included grading assignments and checking over the kids work.
However, there was one thing different about this Tuesday. Charlie invited her over to the factory for dinner.
Usually she'd be happy to visit the Buckets, the only set back here was actually going into the factory.
Ever since Wonka and her reunited, things had been a little rocky. Maude was always busy with her students, and tried to creating some order in her schedule. Will was busy mentoring Charlie around the factory. There wasn't any time for them to really connect.
"Sure, I think she would thoroughly enjoy the factory, heh." Willy said, trying very hard to seem confident.
"And, when you're done, we can have dinner with my family." Charlie smiled with excitement.
"Yeah." Will gulped, slightly.
This was one of Willy Wonka's rare moments where he was uncertain. Usually, he knew exactly how people would react when entering the factory, but Maude was a different story. She helped sculpt every room when it was first built.
Willy had planned on asking Maude to move in with him before she got married. Being business partners was one thing, but being actually together was another. He knew from the start on why he didn't like her husband. Even during the wedding, Willy tried to be supportive of her. Hell, he even made especially for her a dozen chocolate roses. His feelings for her never really went away. He just wanted her to be happy.
After being isolated from the world for over 15 years, it really took a toll on how he interacted with others.
Meanwhile, Maude was dealing with her own worries. She looked at herself in the mirror, constantly overthinking.
She needed to leave in about 30 minutes, and that wasn't enough time either. Maude rummaged through her closet desperately searching for something to wear. Eventually, she found a brown dress that was casual enough to wear without looking completely overdressed.
She slipped on some heels and grabbed her coat before heading out the door. She was lucky the factory was walking distance from her house, but when the gates opened, she was extremely hesitant to go inside.
'Come on, Maude. Don't be pathetic.' She thought as her hand was just inches away from the door.
She bit her lip, tapping her gloved fist against the cold steel door.
Suddenly, there was a click and the door swung open. Maude stepped back, surprised a little at the sudden opening of the door.
Wonka stood just a little bit outside the door. He smiled, greeting Maude at the door.
"Heh, welcome, Maude." Will flashed a big smile at her.
She smiled back, taking off her coat. "It's quite warm in here, Will."
"Ah yes. It's because of my oompa loompas. They just can't stand the cold."
Maude tilted her head at Will. "Right, and what are oompa loompas again?"
Charlie had told her about these 'oompa loompas' but she wasn't entirely sure about what they are.
"Oh, well, they're my workers. They were directly imported from Loopmaland." Will explained as the two walked down the large hall.
"Loopmaland? I've never heard of that place before." Maude seemed to look even more confused.
"Well, I discovered it while I was searching the world of exotic candy." Will hummed.
Maude couldn't help, but be amazed at the amount of things Will had done throughout the years. Maude felt that she didn't really accomplish anything. After she left Ron, she mostly did boring adult stuff. When she worked in the factory, Maude felt unique and carefree. Will would listen to all her ideas for different kinds of mixtures. She remembered a time where she felt happy being in the factory, because it almost was a sanctuary to her.
The hallway began to get slimmer and slimmer. Soon enough Maude and Willy crouched down to get to the very small door at the end of the hallway.
"I don't remember the chocolate room being this small." Maude joked, trying not to hit her head on the suddenly short ceiling.
Willy shook his head. "It's not. Just watch."
Just as he turned the key, a whole world was opened up for Maude. Her eyes widened. Her lips parted at the view.
It was meadows of gorgeous green grass, and luscious chocolate river that flowed throughout the factory.
There was buttercups at her feet, and a jelly pumpkin on her right.
Maude felt overwhelmed with joy. "You did all this?" Her voice was below a whisper.
Willy smiled wide. "Yeah, I did."
Maude turned to Willy, smiling dreamily at him. "Wow.." Her body suddenly when limp, as she passed out in a sudden trance.
Willy panicked, catching her before she hit the ground. "Maude? Maude!!"
She snapped out of her trance. "Yes? Yes! I'm awake."
Will took a deep breath. "Heh, good. I was worried that I killed ya there."
Maude chuckled, blushing slightly by the way Wonka was holding her.
Wonka seemed to noticed it too. He cleared his throat. "Well, let's get a move on. There's lots of things I wanna show you."
He set Maude back down on her feet. She chuckled nervously, still amazed at the view.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of low drumming. A purple sea horse shaped boat pulled up right next to Willy and Maude.
"Hop on board!" Willy stepped onto the boat, with Maude following behind.
The Oompa Loompas seemed to be chattering amongst themselves and chuckling.
"What are they laughing about?" Maude chuckled.
He laughed nervously. "Surely, it's from all those doggone coca beans. They're a bit of a handful."
Maude smiled. "They seem quite lovely. I think I got a report from Charlie, talking about living with the Oompa Loompas. It was incredibly-"
"Weird?" Willy interrupted.
"Yeah, but, a good kind of weird." Maude chuckled. "You're a great mentor."
Willy's smile faltered slightly. "Well, I have to get him prepared to run this factory. There's not a lot of people I could trust to hold the secret recipes, and keep them secret."
"Right."
"I guess the only other person would be you."
Maude's expression shifted from happiness to a bit of sadness. She attempted to smile. "Thank you, Will."
She stared blankly for a few seconds. She began to remember Ron's horrid yelling.
"You'll always be in his shadow, Maude. Don't you want your own factory? He stole most of your ideas, Maude. A few of his would be nothing."
Maude would always refuse to steal from Will. Ron would call her a coward. Still, this torment would go on for hours, until she resigned.
The boat began to diverge into a dark tunnel. Maude's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the Oompa Loompas drumming as it began to get faster and faster.
"Can they see where they're going?" Maude said, as she turned to Willy.
"Hehe, no." Will chuckled. "There's no telling where they're going."
Maude's face turned pale as she held on to the side of the boat.
The boat suddenly took sharp dive right into the tunnel. The boat looped and turned as chocolate splashed its sides. Maude suddenly had her arms around Wonka's, holding onto dear life. Will looked over at her a little surprised. In most situations, Will despised human contact. Here, he was just amused. Even when he was a little boy, he hates when adults touched his hair, or even when they lightly tapped his shoulder. However, he was very loose when it came to Maude. She didn't appreciate close contact either, but in very few moments, Maude would casually touch his hand accidentally. She would always say sorry, but it was strange because Will didn't mind it. It was an odd connection between the two. They really just couldn't explain it.
Maude was still holding onto Will as the boat came to a stop. She sighed in relief, but quickly let go of Will.
"Sorry." Maude muttered.
Will gulped. "No matter. Let's continue."
The boat had stopped in front of the experimentation room, a place where Maude was quite familiar with.
"The experiments room. I'm pretty sure you know this one, heh." Will said, hoping off the boat.
Maude looked around, admiring the enormous amounts of lab equipment, as well as different kinds of experiments. "Oh, wow. It's gotten quite modernized."
"You're darn right. I've testing out a ton of new candy, but sometimes it's so hard to focus on one." Willy turned towards a big machine. He turned it on and out came a single stick of gum.
"This piece, right here, is a full 3 course dinner all in itself."
Maude picked up the stick of gum, and simply looked at it.
"I wouldn't eat it. There's still a few things wrong with the mixture."
"I see, and what seems to be wrong with it." Maude carefully set the stick back down.
"Well, it's ok, once it gets to the end. It's the blueberry pie that does it. I've tried it on like 20 Oompa Loompas, and each one ended up like a giant blueberry."
"Do you think it's because you made the mixture of the pie too strong?" Maude examined the sample closely, just before sticking it in her mouth.
"Yeah, well." Will's eyes widened as she stuck the gum in her mouth. "Just spit it out once it gets too sweet."
The flavors were very incredible, however it didn't mask the faint blueberry aftertaste that plagued each flavor. Once it got a but too sweet, she immediately spat it out.
Will looked at her with a bit of disgust. He kept a bit of a distance from her. After a few moments, nothing happened.
"I think I know the problem. The blueberry pie mixture is too strong. It masks all the other flavors with a sweet aftertaste." Maude put the gum in the nearest trash can. "If you eliminate that strong aftertaste, then I believe the gum should be just fine."
Willy's expression turned from disgust to ecstatic in a matter of seconds. He grabbed Maude by the hand, and shook it vigorously. "Maude, you're a genius. Absolutely incredible. I don't get why I didn't think of that sooner."
Maude smiled slightly. "This is just like old times. Remember when we were experimenting with those fizzy lifting bubbles? We flew so high. We almost lost our heads."
"Yeah, haha. I remember." Will nodded, still holding onto Maude's hand.
"I remember Ron being so worried." Maude laughed.
Willy's smile soon faded. "Yeah, him."
Hearing that name again really made Will's blood boil. He had an idea what was happening with Maude and Ron. Will had really hoped Maude would choose candy making over Ron, because that's what made her happy.
His gloved hand had a tight hold on Maude's. "It's really weird, heh."
"What is?" Maude asked.
"Being here with you. I just would've figured you'd always be with me, making candy in the factory."
"Well, I'm here right now."
"That's not what I mean."
Maude tilted her head up at him, a little confused. They looking into each other's eyes for a moment. His gorgeous purple eyes burrow deep into her dark chocolate ones.
He leaned in, giving Maude a tiny peck on the lips. It was quick and painless. Still, it made Maude go red as a cherry.
Willy giggled, wiping the tiny kiss off his lips.
"W-wow.." Maude muttered. "That was unexpected." She blinked for a few moments, promptly pinching herself, before even realizing what had happened.
"Heh, I've always wanted to try that." Will said, smiling wide. "Kissing is so weird."
"But it's a good kind of weird." Maude chuckled, as she pulled Will into another kiss.
This was so much better than she could've imagined.

notes on smoothing, noise rejection, workflow
notes on smoothing, noise rejection, workflow i started today with a positive outlook. it's ship day for a new product (or an update of an existing one) and i had a few small bugs to fix, plus a showstopper that i already had a direct solution for in mind. things went pretty well according to plan - i pushed out the showstopper fix in only 15 minutes, and had received confirmation reports within the hour. next i slowly worked through the last of the bug-fixes which took the better part of the day, but i got there, somehow. had a little bit of a celebratory wander around the studio, talking to my workmates and co-habitants about how good it feels to have this pretty much wrapped up (it's dominated the last 2 months of my life, and on-and-off before that for 18 months)! then something occured to me. a little niggle i'd been keeping in the back of my head. i was finally listening to the sounds of the little project, and while the new functionality was sounding fantastic, there was a kind of warbling to the standard tones. often times these things are purely in one's mind, but i sat there and listened, comparing between old and new hardware. it was totally there. the pitch of a thing that is designed to produce a steady tone, was gently squirreling around. shock horror! a sense of dread. maybe the last $20k i just sank into this production might be going straight in the trash. what was wrong with the new version of the hardware?! the only thing i changed was the digital detection of a switch - that couldn't possibly be affecting the functionality - it's only a GPIO pin. what else changed? the power supply.. long story short, we shifted to using a switch-mode power supply internally on this updated project. this allows the power conversion (from 12v down to 3v3 for the microcontroller) to be over 80% efficient, whereas prior it was less than 60% efficient and passed through 2 different regulators (switching and linear). added (perhaps blinding) benefit, is it decreased the unit cost by some $2.50. i checked there was sufficient power supply filtering and it was fine on the schematic. next i started poking around with the scope. thanks to my genius repair-focussed employee natalie, this revision had test points for all the important voltages on the back. they all tested out as solid rails. no ripple was visible, and the peak-to-peak accuracy seemed really good at around 35mV, heavily focussed in the center. i scoped the ADC traces where the pitch input signals hit the uC, and they were a little fuzzy, but no big jittery wandering as i was expecting. it had to be something else. it had to be the power supply! what else could it be. i scoped the 3v3 analog rail again. it looked fine to my eyes. i zoomed right in and all looked well .. except .. little dots were appearing in the bottom of the screen. single dots on my old 90's scope. the kind of dots you generally ignore, but they were happening repeatedly. i turned on peak-to-peak voltage detection and there it was "100mV". these dots weren't random dots, they were part of the voltage readout! static. it must be static. but what is static anyway?! i don't know to be honest. i didn't want to spend all day staring at the datasheet for the power-supply i'd put in there as the only thing that would lead to was changing the hardware itself. we'd already spent wayyy too much time fixing hardware for this product in the past -- that was the whole reason for the re-design. i had to turn to the code. i had to make it work. we'd come too far. the firmware was monumentally better than the original version. we had to ship! // this is how i came to an early evening exploration into signal smoothing & noise rejection. -- linear interpolation / 1-pole lowpass / RC-filter originally i'd already implmented a simple smoothing algorithm to deal with the inherrent noise of the ADCs in the uC i'm using. this was a single stage delay mechanism where the previous output is combined with the new input. the ratios of each define how quickly the output signal moves toward the new input value. this is great for smoothing out random noise at a relatively low level. you just finetune the ratio of old-vs-new to balance between better random-noise rejection and the settling time to reach a new value. if you only move gradually toward new inputs, you reject the randomness very well, but the signal will only 'glide' toward the new destination. this is particularly problematic for pitch, as there is a long tail to the glide (which theoretically never converges). i turned this up all the way to where the glides took 30 seconds (they need to be less than 30ms) and was surprised to find.. the signal still wobbled around! how could this be?! after some ranting, raving, and rubber-ducking with my other workmate, i arrived at a different conclusion - the problem wasn't random-noise, but rather random little spikes in the signal! i did some measurements to print out the stream of values that were being detected by the ADC and they weren't hugely spikey, but there was definite moments where it seemed to jump a little too far out of range. this is only a 12bit ADC so even a change of 4 or 5 LSBs is significant when amplified out to the range of pitch it is controlling. -- windowed averaging before thinking too much further down the line, i thought about how the RC-filter above favours the input sample. every new sample must influence the signal more than the last. all the ratio sets is how similar their influence is over time. alternatively it's possible to just take the average of the last n samples and thus reduce the impact of the spurious samples impact to no-more than the surrounding 'good' samples. i implemented it as a simple queue, storing the last set of values. an added benefit here is that the 'glide' behaviour of the RC-filter is replaced with a 'linear' characteristic. once a value has changed to a new state, it will go there in a fixed amount of time, directly related to length of the averaging queue. i implemented this and tried sizes of 5 then 35, and after still seeing no change, 505. the signal still moved around, albeit in a much slower kind of way! this couldn't be the solution either. -- hysteresis something i use a lot in analog circuits is hysteresis. allowing things to change state only after seeing a certain amount of change. i knew brian had used this in the earthsea design to filter the knobs for the purpose of knowing whether they'd been turned, or were just resting. the main problem i was having is that static knob positions were resulting in jittery tones, thus if i could just know when the knob was stationary, i could lock the pitch to the current state and then pick up again when the knob moved. this was a fun one to implement and of course i got it wrong at first (it would only move if i turned the knob fast enough). eventually though i dialed it in. choosing the hysteresis value was interesting to see the kinds of effects, but eventually i found something i was happy with. once a change was detected, i did a simple 50% mix of the current output and new destination, just to help smooth any quick bumps. this was a solid solution after some refining of the hysteresis values. it tracked the static pitch quite well, and yet the step size was small enough that it didn't sound obviously discreet in it's movement.. until one turned the knob very slowly with a tone of rich harmonics - all those lovely aliased artifacts were jumping around. it was close, but i hadn't quite nailed it yet. -- stepping back and rethinking the problem at this point i had to go home. i'd been at work for almost 12 hours and i'd burnt out on this project at least twice before - i didn't want to make it a 3rd time right as we were about to ship. i knew there was a solution, but i also wasn't going to magically complete and test it in one day. i packed up and was about to get on my bike to ride home, when it occured to me. this whole hysteresis thing is just a binary form of the more general idea:    for small changes, the output should move slowly (or stop)    for large changes, the output should move quickly this is the idea that i'm still running with right now. -- a slope sensitive smoother if we take either the RC or averaging smoother, they both have a smoothing effect on the signal. the problem is we can't use a constant coefficient that is slow enough to smooth out our noisy signal, because our particular signal is too spikey for short decay times, and our use-case is too demanding for long slew times. rather if we break down the problem into the two abovementioned parts, what we need is a filter that follows this small-slow vs large-quick approach. we can implement this by simply using the rate-of-change of the input to control the coefficient of the filter! rate-of-change is easy as we just implemented it for the hysteresis approach as the absolute-difference of output to input. -- bringing it all together i haven't even tried this yet. indeed i'm just home now after this brainwave. but i want to talk about bringing these ideas all together into a resilient filtration mechanism that should have wider use than in this case. there's 2 different areas where previous ideas should be integrated: the first is this idea of exponential vs linear glide time. when moving small distances, the linear time is better for smoothing extraneous signals. while moving large distances requires a more rapidly moving slope to avoid obvious artifacts. the second idea is about integrating smoothing into the rate-of-change detector, vs. the input into the slope-sensitive-smoother. the linear filter introduces a fixed delay equal to it's length, which is not ideal for the signal itself (latency always feels bad). on the other hand, it shouldn't be a huge problem for control the rate-of-change this way, as large changes will start moving (albeit slowly) before the filter picks up, while a little overshoot (in terms of smoothing time) isn't a problem, as the ear is unlikely to notice the pitch warble if it's only at the onset of a new note. the filter is good at rejecting spurious noise, so it seems appropriate for ignoring spikes by keeping the r-o-c relatively static conversely, the exponential smoother acts with a single stage of delay, pushing it toward the real-time use of smoothing the signal itself (controlled by the r-o-c detector). the filter is quick to respond to big changes, so it will deal well with quick note changes (often these occur as large steps). -- final thoughts by combining the benefits of the different averaging techniques, and abstracting the idea of hysteresis to a continuous function, we've arrived at an efficient, responsive, and resilient smoothing technique. it is suited to deal with both white noise, as well as spurious noisy elements in a stream. the coefficients of both averagers, plus the scale of modulation by rate-of-change, can be customized to the use-case. it was only by thinking about the problem with a multi-faceted approach that this conclusion was able to be reached. the answer didn't come about through textbook knowledge, but through practical & lateral thinking about the problem in its surrounding context.
