Offshoot of my "team Ro time travels to the founders era" post because @prinzgnomeovonchaos infected me with brain rot in the notes

So buckle in baby it's time for

Sakumo and babyKashi time traveling to the warring states ✨️

So first thing to get out of the way; Modern Hatake's and warring states era Hatake's do not hold up to the same standards.

The Hatake's during the states were a very small clan with a very big reputation. Hailing from Iron, they were an almost famous wild clan even all the way in fire country. Distantly related to the Inuzuka's but leaning more towards wolves than dogs.

They had a proper kekkei genkai and everything, unnaturally fast and strong, often born with some form of enhanced senses— be it smell, sight, taste, or even touch. Their white chakra fed into it, and they'd feed their chakra with diets of raw meat and the occasional light cannibalism during some special clan celebrations and rituals.

Unfortunatley Sakumo knows very little about the above because he was very young when his clan was pretty much all wiped out. He was raised by the only other survivor, his grandmother, who was pretty young herself when the clan got wiped, and unfortunatley was never all too concious of many of the rituals and traditions of her clan until it was too late.

Sakumo grew up to village standards and was mostly declawed because of it, and Kakashi is only doubly so. And with that dulling of all the different traditions and specific diets also came the slow fading of their bloodline limit, which was already pretty subtle if you didn't know what you're looking for.

Sakumo is staring at these guys going through it bc they are BABIES to him. And like look, he's used to working with or even occasionally under people much younger than him, but like. Oh man that's the shodai hokage. And he's like a toddler.

So like. All the founders have major daddy issues, right? Like we can all agree that's plausible? I'm so sorry I just think it'd be *really fucking funny* if they look at Sakumo and just kinda. Yeah.

Anyways;

No idea how they got there!! This is set maybe a week before Sakumo offed himself but now he can't kill himself bc that'd mean abandoning Kakashi to the fucking warring states.

Kakashi fits the warring states standards alarmingly well actually. Honestly I think even for that time period he's still scarily young to be on the field. People are giving Sakumo looks like 'it's so hard what we've been forced to do to our children, the battles we've pushed them into, the things they've seen and done all too young'

Sakumo is going *hrrg.* and having a good long look in the mirror actually. Proper crisis, lots of guilt, Kakashi should not be out in the field this young and at least before he was mostly getting baby missions but now they're stranded in time and keep running head first into trouble.

I want Izuna and Kakashi to fight and even though Kakashi absoloutley should NOT win that battle I want him to win just so that Madara and Tobirama can make fun of him for losing to an actual child

Kakashi: While it's the paper that I use for official letters, the signature is not mine. It's forged. How did you not recognize?

Kakashi: She's their real target—

Sasuke: /thinks/ I'm so stupid damnit!

Villager: *enters the inn* Sakura-san! We are under attack!

Sakura: What?! *goes out*

Enemy1: That pink-haired kunoichi! Kill her!

Sakura: *runs towards them* Shannaroooo! *punches the ground*

The other villagers try to help her but the enemy line is too thick. Sakura urged the villagers to run away instead.

Sakura: They're after me! Go and save yourselves! Go!

The enemies start attacking Sakura simultaneously. She figures out that they're rebels from Kumogakure because of their built and strength.

Sakura: *shouts* Why do you want to kill me? Who ordered you?

Enemy2: We are wiping out this tiny village but you keep on healing the people! We want this place for us!

Sakura: Well, it's not yours and it's their home!

Enemy2: Let's see about that!

The enemies form a group attack. Sakura tries to dodge here and there.

Sakura: /thinks/ They really planned this out. There are so many of them.

Sakura is able to manage the attacks. She either dodges or counters them. The enemies start to get frustrated.

Enemy1: She's just a girl! How can you not kill her?

Enemy2: She's a tough one, boss! Group attacks are not working.

Sakura: Giving up now? As you should! *breathes deeply* Okasho jutsu!

Half of the enemies is thrown away because of the impact. The leader becomes desperate, so he runs after the fleeing villagers and snatches a little girl. He heavily injures her with a swift strike. He throws her to the ground while her parents wail for help.

Sakura: *sees* What the heck are you doing? *runs to the girl*

Sakura goes past the enemies and starts to do a healing jutsu. She realizes that the wound is fatal if not treated quickly. The enemies take this chance to attack her.

Sakura: /thinks/ I can't stop healing her.. Or else she'll die.

Since Sakura has no defense, the enemies attack her freely. She continues treating the child, enduring the pain from the hits. She wants to use the byakugou but because of the lightning release that the enemies use against her, she can't knead the chakra properly.

Sakura: /thinks/ I'll endure. I have to. I'll save this child.. This village.. I promised Sasuke-kun I'll manage.

Sakura's head is throbbing. Her back is broken. Blood is coming out everywhere.

Sakura: Finally.. *carries the child and brings her to her parents* Go..

With her remaining chakra, she fights the enemies via hand-to-hand combat. There are still a lot of them and even Sakura is not sure if she can finish them off.

Sasuke arrives at the scene and quickly searches for Sakura. She's there at the middle surrounded by seemingly dead enemies.

Sasuke: Sakura! Sakura! *tries to hold her still*

Sakura: S-Sasuke-kun? I-I told you.. I'd manage.. *smiles; blood comes out of her mouth*

Sasuke: Sorry.. I should have not left you. The letter.. It was a mistake. It wasn't from Kakashi. Sorry, Sakura.. I was so stupid..

Sakura: It's.. Okay.. I— *faints*

Sasuke: Sakura! Wake up, Sakura! *panics* Sakura! *checks her breathing*

During this time, Sasuke doesn't know how to do healing jutsu. He panics more when he sees how she's badly beaten.

Sasuke: /thinks/ If I take her to Tsunade, it might be too late.. What if I try to summon Lady Katsuyu? No, I don't think that would work. What if I take her to Karin or Orochimaru instead? Ahh! Think, Sasuke!! Think fast!!

He puts Sakura down and looks around. He realizes that most are injured but not dead.

Sasuke: *announces* Is there any medical-nin here? Show yourself! I will spare you if you cooperate!

Enemy: S-Sir! Me! Spare me! I'll do anything—

Sasuke: *goes to him* You don't have to tell me. Sharingan!

He scans his memory and sees how Sakura ended up in that state. He grits his teeth in anger. He continues searching for the information he needed and copies it using his sharingan. He tries it on the man first. The man is healed and he lets him go. He goes back to Sakura and heals her.

Sasuke: You'll be fine, Sakura. That's a promise. *gets relieved when the wounds start to close*

Sakura: Sasuke-kun?

Sasuke: You're awake now? Don't talk. Let me take you to the inn and I'll continue this. *carries her*

Sasuke: Sakura.. I brought warm water, bandages, alcohol, and a towel.. If it's okay with you, I'll clean you up.. I mean your wounds.

Sakura: *softly* Yeah..

Sasuke: *focused on cleaning the wounds*

Sakura: *flinches* Aw!

Sasuke: Sorry! Did it hurt? I'm sorry, Sakura..

Sakura: A bit.. It's okay.. The sting surprised me.

Sasuke: I'll try to be more gentle.. *continues tending to her wounds* Okay.. Now, I'll wipe the dirt from your body— I won't look! I– I promise!

Sakura: *nods*

Sasuke: *wipes her arm with a wet wash cloth while looking away*

Sakura: Ugh! Aw!

Sasuke: *looks and realizes he hit her chin* Sorry! I didn't mean to—

Sakura: It's okay.. Maybe it's better if.. If..

Sasuke: Yeah, I'll be more careful now. I'll look at you, okay?

Sakura: Yeah..

Sasuke: *wipes her other arm then washes the cloth* I'll wipe your face..

He's very gentle and makes sure that his touch doesn't hurt her. He continues wiping her neck then her chest. He starts to take off her shirt.

Sakura: *flustered* S-Sasuke-kun?

Sasuke: Hm? Is the towel cold?

Sakura: No..

Sasuke: Then what is it?

Sakura: Y-Youre going to undress me?

Sasuke: *nods* I have to clean your wounds and your body, Sakura.

Sakura: B-But.. A while ago you didn't even look..

Sasuke: Yeah. I kinda forgot that I've seen you naked a couple of times already—

Sakura: Sasuke-kun! *uses her remaining strength to put her hand over his mouth*

Sasuke: Hn. Okay, if you're uncomfortable, I'll just wipe your legs..

The two continue that routine for 3 days. Sasuke cleans her wounds and replaces the bandages at night and he prepares and feed her meals throughout the day.

Sasuke: Sakura.. When you fully recover, teach me how to do healing jutsu properly. It's a shame I didn't know how.

Sakura: Definitely! It will be easy for you because you already know the basics.. You did really well!

Sasuke: Not really.. You're still not okay until now..

Sakura: No! They're really strong and I got battered badly, that's why. Believe me, you did good.. Thank you, Sasuke-kun!

Sasuke: But you're the one who did well. You protected this village and its people. I'm proud of you.

Sakura: *blushes* Thank you.. It means a lot..

Than the significant other does testing at the hospital but the results won’t be in till later so Sakura will send the results home with Kakashi so she goes home. Later in the day Sakura drops the paperwork off to Kakashi & says “congrats your going to be a father” and Kakashi has to let his significant other know? If that makes sense! Thank you ❤️

a/n: i took inspiration for pregnancy symptoms + reasons from google and my friends (specially one with pos who got pregnant the same way), but i'm sorry for anything (?). also, this is unedited and english is hard.

you flushed the toilet again and got up, opening the faucet and washing your face. the mirror told you you looked like a mess, absolutely horrible. deep dark circles, pale, dry lips, and, besides that, it felt like your body was fighting against itself and apparently it was winning - or losing. you lost count of how many times you threw up in the last couple of days and you were feeling all over the place. such a great way to feel on christmas eve.

kakashi opened the door of the bathroom, worried about you.

"come on, let's go to the hospital." you could tell he was worried, but tried to maintain his voice firm.

"no, i'm ok! i'm just a little dizzy, that's all."

there was no way in hell you would go to the hospital. you hated hospitals! no one has ever received good news in a hospital. best case scenario was "you're not sick" which is not exactly a good new, it didn't change anything. a good new would be "hey, we just discovered you're immune to every disease that has ever existed and you're practically immortal" or something similar. also there was the smell, the freaking white walls white everything. ugh, absolutely not!

"you've been throwing up for four days now, please, y/n."

"mind your fucking business, rokudaime." you told him, pushing him aside to leave the bathroom.

"you're my fucking business."

"how sweet." your voice was filled of sarcasm. you weren't usually this mean, but kakashi sounded like a broken record, insisting you went to the hospital when you clearly didn't want to.

you sat on the bed and closed your eyes, trying to make the world stop spinning. your mind was desperate trying to remember if you'd eaten something that could've caused this. maybe a new virus? either way, your body would get rid of it naturally, how it's supposed to do.

"no, really, go to work. i just need to eat something and lay down a bit." you tried to calm him down.

"you said that yesterday and the day before that, i can't leave you like this, come on."

"kakashi, drop it, i'm not going to the hospital!" he was starting to get on your nerves.

"i'm not asking, i'm informing. you can choose to go wearing what you are now or put something else on. you got 5 minutes."

"touch me and i swear to god i'll make you regret the day you were born!"

"honey, please..."

kakashi kneeled down before you and took your hands in his.

"i can't leave you like this, i haven't been able to focus properly because i'm worried about you, i'm running behind schedule at work. i'm asking you, please, let me take you to the hospital."

you sighed, looking at him. as the hokage, kakashi couldn't skip a day of work, he was responsible for absolutely everything, and he would work the whole day on christmas eve.

"i hate hospitals. i really do."

"i know. but we have to find out what's wrong."

you got up and changed from your pajamas to a loose dress, grabbing your purse on the way.

kakashi practically carried you to the very christmas descorated hospital, but you couldn't blame him, you knew he was worried. that was the only reason you were there, actually. you were sure there was nothing wrong, you could feel it it was only temporary, probably just something you ate, but you were doing this for him, to make him feel at ease.

he only left after putting you in one of the beds, as if you were so weak you couldn't walk or sit. taking one of the hospitals beds was ridiculous, but the place was nearly empty anyway, people seemed to avoid hospitals during the holidays.

the holidays.

you couldn't help but smile at the memory of your first holiday with kakashi, when he asked you to be his girlfriend under a mistletoe, and exactly a year later he proposed. you had had a crush on him for months before he actually made a move, and now there you were, six years later, married and happy. you wondered if he remembered, now that he was all busy with the hokage job. you couldn't blame him if he didn't, he was working late on christmas eve, he had a lot going on... but at least he would be yours tomorrow. all yours.

"hi, y/n!" sakura greeted you.

"hi, sakura."

sakura was wearing a santa hat and there were tiny reindeers and christmas trees on her scrub.

"i heard you're not feeling well today. what's wrong?" she asked, holding a clipboard, ready to write down everything and anything you said.

"it's really nothing, kakashi's just being dramatic..."

"well, you're already here, we can check it out, it's no trouble. so, what are you feeling?"

"well, the main thing is this sickness, my stomach feels so weird i can't eat anything, i just throw up right away."

"hm... what else?"

"well, this is what concerns kakashi the most, but i also feel tired all the time, you know? it's like i ran a marathon, i just want to sleep."

"ok, so basically you're throwing up, feeling nauseous, can't eat and feel super tired?"

"yeah, that's basically it."

"okay, and when was your last period?"

"shit, i have no idea... my cycle is not really regular... i have pos, i take the pill but it doesn't really help with the cycle, sometimes it's 20 days, but sometimes it's like 45, so i don't really pay attention to it. i should, i know, sorry. it also doesn't help that i take the same pill since forever."

"okay... did you take any medication lately?"

"oh, god... nothing special, just the occasional aspirin. but i did have to take antibiotics for my throat a while ago ago, but it was nothing serious."

"okay..." sakura was writing everything down and had a little smile on her face. "question: is the sickness worse in the morning, like right after you wake up?"

"yes! why is that?"

sakura smiled and kept writing down your symptoms.

"so, do you know what's wrong? it's really nothing, right? probably just something i ate?" you asked, hopeful.

"well, in a way, yes." she giggled, but you didn't understand why. "come on, i need to take your blood and run a few tests in order to be 100% sure."

ugh, needles.

your body shivered at the idea, you absolutely hated needles, but what were you going to do? you were at the hospital anyway, might as well do everything. you were sure sakura had a pretty good idea of what was wrong with you, so if she wants you to take a blood test, you will take a blood test... that somehow made you feel quite anxious. if sakura wanted you to take a blood test, and she had an idea of what was going on, then maybe it was not "nothing", or simply something you ate. the idea of it being something serious caused panic to wash over you.

sakura was very skilled, she took your blood quickly, you almost didn't feel a thing and you were so so thankful for that.

"can you tell me what do you think it is?" the panic in your voice was obvious.

"we better wait for the results, but don't worry, it's nothing bad, i promise." she replied, tagging the blood bottles.

you nodded, looking at the perfectly painted white wall. nothing bad... as if something good was an option. in hospitals. haha.

"so, because it's christmas eve we're really short on people and the results may take a while, but you can go home if you want. i know you hate hospitals, it'll only make you anxious staying here... i'll send the results to kakashi."

"really? thank you!"

"yes, just make sure you rest, get some sleep and drink loads of water, ok? and try to eat something. a fruit, a glass of milk, anything is better than nothing, your body needs it." she recommended.

"okay, doc."

sakura smiled and touched your arm.

"and don't worry, everything's okay. i'll ask konohamaru to take you home."

"oh no, don't worry, i'm ok, i can go by myself."

"it's no trouble, he's got nothing better to do. besides, kakashi would kill me if he found out i let you leave alone."

that was true and there was no doubt. kakashi was overprotective - it would be ridiculous if it wasn't somehow sweet.

konohamaru walked you home taking very seriously the mission of taking the hokage's wife home in safety, it was adorable.

as soon as you got home you boiled water to make a cup of tea and tried to keep your mind free of worries, but it was difficult. sakura's questions brought up a fear you were working really hard to ignore, specially because it matched your symptoms, but it couldn't be true, it just couldn't. not with you.

you snuggled up on the couch with your cup of tea and turned on the tv to try and distract your mind.

kakashi was finishing signing a huge pile of documents when sakura entered the office.

"hi, kakashi sensei!"

"hey, pink hair! i hope you didn't come here to deliver bad news... how's y/n? or did you come to talk about something else?"

"i brought her blood test results."

"is she ok? please, tell me she's ok!"

"she's ok, sensei!" sakura smiled. "she's home, that's why i'm giving the results to you."

kakashi took the envelope from sakura's hands, but didn't open it, instead waited for her to say what was really written in that piece of paper. he was trying to hide the fact that he was anxious and worried, but a bit calmer now that he knew you were home - if you were home it meant you didn't have to stay at the hospital, so it was nothing too serious.

"so?" he asked when sakura didn't speak.

"congrats, sensei, you're going to be a father!"

sakura couldn't hide her excitement, she believed children were a blessing and she was so happy her beloved sensei was going to be a father! being one of his genins she knew he would be an amazing father. kakashi, on the other hand, was frozen, still holding the envelope, not even blinking.

"sensei... are you... ok?"

"she's... pregnant?"

"yes!" sakura confirmed, smiling. "isn't that wonderful?"

"are you sure?!"

"yes! look at the results, she's around five or six weeks in!"

kakashi still seemed really confused, as if sakura had said that the sky is in fact green.

"how is that possible? you're not lying to me, are you?"

"no! see, she takes the pill, but antibiotics cut the effect of the pill, i don't think she was aware of that."

kakashi was so shocked he didn't reply, still trying to process the information, envelope in hands.

"sensei... is everything okay?"

"yes, of course!" he gave her his signature smile, his eyes becoming little crescent moons.

"i have to get back to the hospital... tell y/n i want to talk to her asap, we need to run other tests, start the antenatal check up, see if everything's okay, if she'd like to keep it..."

kakashi nodded, but he didn't seem to have listened to her, so she left and went back to the hospital. it took kakashi a while to fully process the new information, he was caught so off guard. after a few minutes he left the hokage tower telling shizune he had to rush home and not stopping to hear her complain about how late they already were with things.

you woke up with a little jump when you heard kakashi call your name, realizing you had fallen asleep on the couch, the empty cup of tea on the floor. at least it didn't break.

"y/n!" kakashi called again.

"in the living room!"

three seconds later kakashi appeared with an envelope and a box in hands, almost running towards you.

"how are you? are you feeling better?" he asked, hands cupping your face, eyes analyzing every millimeter of your skin.

"i'm ok, i'm better. i told you i only needed to eat something. and sleep apparently. i'm better, there's no need to worry. is this the test results?"

"yes."

you reached out to the envelope, but kakashi didn't let you touch it. weird.

"well? can i please see it?" you asked, sarcastically.

kakashi shook his head, then sat by your side.

"i'd like to talk to you first" he said.

"you're acting weird... are the results bad? am i sick? what is it?"

"you're fine."

you raised an eyebrow, not believing him. your heart was beating fast, and you started to feel a little anxious with the idea that something was, in fact, wrong. maybe you really were sick.

"if i'm fine, then why you don't want me to see the results?"

he handed you the box, which you accepted suspiciously. you untied the ribbon and opened it up, seeing a pair of tiny tiny socks inside it. your heart skipped a beat.

"uh... what's this?"

"y/n, you're pregnant."

the words hit you and made the room spin. you dropped the box and time stopped while your mind tried to process the information. that's exactly what had crossed your mind at the hospital, but you were too afraid to even consider it. it might have been seconds or minutes before you looked back to kakashi.

"i'm sorry... what?!"

"you're pregnant." kakashi said the words very carefully, seeing how you received the new.

"no... no, it doesn't make sense. let me see this!"

you finally took the envelope from kakashi's hand and opened it up, taking a quick look at the numbers and then seeing the high number on hcg hormone.

there was probably a question mark tattooed on your face, because you were so confused. it just didn't make sense! you took the pill and, even without the pill the chances of you getting pregnant were lower than average because of pos... at least that's what the doctor said when you you were diagnosed. it didn't add up.

"you see, apparently antibiotics cut the effect of the pill."

antibiotics! of course!

"oh!"

you closed your eyes when it all started to make sense. the sickness, the mood swings, the sleepiness... you touched your stomach unconsciously, the sudden awareness that there was a life evolving there was mindblowing. your eyes burned and you started to blink to contain the tears.

"i'm sorry..." you said with a weak voice, trying to contain the scream in your throat.

the tears fell from your eyes nonetheless and you felt ridiculous. you had one job! and now it was all ruined. kakashi and you never really talked about having kids, but you could tell from the way he talked about his father that he was scared, probably terrified at the idea of traumatizing someone same way his father did. he loved his genins, he really did, and he was some sort of father to them, he'd go to hell and back for them, but that was different. he had already lost so many people, he didn't want to go through the pain of losing a loved one again - you were the only exception, the only one he had let in, the only one who was worth it enough to risk it, but that was it. and it's not like you were dying to be a mother - sure, you loved children and the idea of a mini kakashi running around the house made your heart feel warm, a little package of love, the result of how much you and kakashi loved each other, the chance to make it right, the way your parents hadn't... but to be honest the idea of being responsible for a life scared the shit out of you.

"you're sorry?" kakashi chuckled.

you nodded, the tears never stop falling.

"i'm sorry i was so stupid, i know you don't want to be a father... i'm sorry i don't know what to do!"

it was getting harder to speak and impossible to contain the tears. kakashi pulled you in to his chest and kissed the top of your head.

"honey, we're in this together. it's ok, you're ok."

he kept repeating you were okay, massaging your back while you held on his shirt for dear life and tried to pull yourself together.

finally, a few minutes later, you felt calmer. kakashi pulled your chin up to look at you. you could tell he was smiling under the mask.

"you're right, i didn't want to be a father. past tense. that was before you. you can't imagine how happy i am, how full i feel!"

"really?"

"honey, i love you! nothing could make me happier than starting a family with you!"

the tears came again, but this time it was because you felt incredibly happy and emotional. yes, it felt like you were all over the place.

"oh no, what's wrong?" kakashi asked, wiping away your tears.

your answer was to hold him tight and plant a kiss on his neck, which made him smile.

"so it's safe to say you also want a family with me?"

"of course i do!" you told him.

kakashi ran his fingers through your hair, something he knew made you feel calm and safe while in his arms and you two just stayed there for a while.

finally, when you were almost asleep he asked:

"what do you think it is? a boy or a girl?"

"hm... i think it's a boy. a silver haired boy that looks just like you and will annoy the hell out of me just like you do. i just know you two will be full of shenanigans."

"what if it's a girl? a beautiful lovely girl just like you that will be the center of my world just like you are. too clever for her own good, will always be on your side, even when she knows you're wrong."

you giggled, painting the picture in your head.

"what if we have twins? a boy and a girl." you asked, intertwining your fingers with his.

The thing about Naruto being Hokage and why the execution of such concept is so tricky is that every other Hokage was practically a genius.

I'm not saying Naruto is not smart (he tricked a goddess with a sexy jutsu, after al), or that every other Hokage was better than him 'cause they were book smart or whatever. What I'm saying is that every other Hokage was more versed on stuff like politics and negotiations, were a bit more crude or realistic or at least had more experience.

Naruto is not fool. He's not a little kid too busy dreaming to do something about the world. I don't mean to undermine his capacity of learning, nor deny that he could become a great Hokage.

The thing is —he needs training.

And yeah he's the strongest shinobi in the world and there's no one more qualify to protect the village (he proved that several times). But we're talking about governing. Not only paperwork, but what's behind the paperwork. We're talking about decisions like sending some kids to possibly die in crazy missions. We're talking about malicious and dark stuff. Choosing a side in a conflict between allies. Dealing with greedy no-shinobi politicians. Interfering with clan politics. Making people mad. Dealing with bad consequences of good actions.

You could argue that all the leaders of the world became besties after the last war and I could say that's one of the most bullshit decisions of the manga. This is a shonen, I know. But if you meant to have a continuation of some sort, I think you'd have to acknowledge that peace can't last. You don't even need an entire family of gods to reach that conclusion. You don't even need to mess with space and time. All you need is to wait for the tiny conflicts to accumulate. Evil shinobis wanting to wreck havoc, some misunderstandings, even just climate catastrophes or the consequences of a past you can't erase.

In the end, you can't be loyal to the entire world. And while Naruto did fight in a war, the nature of it was not the same as the other wars. There was no big common bad back then, just flawed people being flawed people.

When I say every other Hokage was a genius on their own ways, I mean this:

Hashirama was a founder of the hidden villages, a political solution to protect the shinobis, balance the entire world and further the progress of society.

Tobirama did almost everything in Konoha's system, including the Academy, and he is arguably the best Hokage when it comes to modernization, politics, jutsu creation and being realistic.

Tsunade changed the entire landscape of how wars were fought by introducing the importance of having a medic nin in every team (or close to it).

Minato proved to be not only the strongest but the smartest shinobi in Konoha, without kekkei genkai or any clan; he was second to Tobirama (in my opinion) in terms of Hokage intelligence in politics and such.

Hiruzen was the student of both the first and the second Hokages, and even when he made a lot of bullshit decisions (LIKE A LOT), he had the experience of having lived through almost every war and kept Konoha running after Tobirama died.

Kakashi has been making war decisions since his childhood. Bloody, ugly, dark decisions. A prodigy who became an anbu at childhood, with a mind capable of adapting on the run, capable of quickly analyzing any situation. Again, more versed in politics and such.

Naruto needs training. He needs instruction, he needs to study. He needs to mature further still. But when I read about the blank period, all I read is about him falling in love with Hinata, teaching the kids on the Academy, etc.

I personally want Naruto to be the best leader he could be, 'cause I grew up supporting his dream of becoming Hokage. I want to see him succeed! What I don't want is the implication that someone else has to do the job for him. I want Naruto to be able to discuss shinobi politics with Shikamaru, not because Naruto is a genius, but because he loves his village and he's willing to work hard for it. I want a Naruto that has his own thoughts about shinobi children, about orphans and families and civilians and clans. I want a Naruto that learns all he could about the origin of Konohagakure and tries to reach other Uzumakis and give them a home. Stuff like that.

Every other Hokage was practically a genius but competing with geniuses never stopped Naruto. He's stubborn and he loves with his entire heart and he doesn't give up. He mastered the rasengan in a couple of days. He won his match against Neji in the Chunnin Exams, defeated Pain and Nagato. He is not stupid or incompetent, okay? And that's what I want to see when I'm presented with the future of him being Hokage.

Doing this again because there are so many of those : Shikamaru and Hinata. Before someone kills me I do like Hinata, I just hate her fans. Like in what way did she surpass Neji when she can't be arsed to run without falling. Bffr Neji's the strongest Hyuuga. Hell on earth. Then all this culminates into a VOTE2 fight I never wanted to see with a Sasuke who's blabbering nonsense, and then suddenly, skyscrapers and ugly ass kids of ships that got little to no development. None of the questions brought up by the story got resolved

I'm not very interested in waxing poetry about how hard it was for him to kill his own parents when he had like, so many choices to make, and I think such discussions are stupid when Sasuke (and the Uchiha clan) are the biggest victims of both Itachi and Konoha and yet don't get a fraction of the sympathy that Itachi gets

Gai first of all. Why the hell did he survive 8 gates? What was the point? It cheapened his sacrifice, and made it obvious that the stakes, no matter how high, are never that serious. Frankly I didn't even want him to be the one to open the 8 gates, it should've been Lee's moment (and yes, death) but well. At least one of the Gokage (preferably Onoki and/or Gaara) should've also died. And Hinata or Hiashi should've died to protect Neji, it would've been THE perfect symbolic end to the Hyuuga issue. Oh Shikamaru should've also died, he was useless and it would've made more impact. Probs another death in Konoha 12 would be great (like Kiba maybe?) but Lee's and Shikamaru's deaths (with potentially Hinata also dying) would've been great for tension and emotional impact. Oh also neither Obito nor Madara should've died

No he was not racist, and he didn't do half the shit people claim he did (he didn't disrespect Madara's body or Uchiha's funeral practices, he didn't segregate them, he didn't force them to be in the Police Force, he didn't focus solely on the Uchiha and no other threats, he didn't call them slurs (cant believe i even need to say that), he didnt hunt them specifically, he didn't kill Izuna for shits and giggles, he didnt seek out Kagami to use him as the "black friend", he didnt spread rumors, he didnt spy on them, he didnt blame them for Madara's actions etc etc etc. He was prejudiced, as was Madara (who even went as far as to cut Tsunade in half just bc she's Senju. That's way more violent than Tobirama calling Sasuke an evil brat). I think it's perfectly understable why he was so cautious about them, and I wish he was given half the understanding the Uchiha get for their own backstories and actions, considering he too was a traumatized child soldiers who watched his siblings die and was abused by his father. He's a product of his times, and even he acknowledges that. That's why he has faith in the younger generations, and why he died for them twice.

Not at all. Naruto would've died in the Waves arc without her, and that's just the first arc. People just hate female characters, and belittle healers.

I prefer ship wars bc I'm not rlly a shipper so I don't get annoyed and can make fun of people who get mad at me for my opinions. Power scaling tho....I'm a great power scalers and when ppl just make shit up (like saying Hinata is stronger than Neji or Itachi than Obito) I get pissed.

Hi Madara! Have you been keeping up with Boruto manga timeskip?

It's slowpaced but I can't wait to see Sakura and the Uchiha family. Sakura's circle has been sealed or incapacitated, Naruto is sealed, Sasuke is dead(?) and Sarada has MS. I need to see her in action, Konoha's Head Medic needs to find a cure to save those treeficated people and also cure Sasuke. I hope she believes Sarada (she will always) and helps Boruto from inside Konoha. I also wish she could fight the new jubi Sasuke. I miss Sakura in the battlefield. She must get to fighting asap her combat style is the best and also Katsuyu! Missed her as a response to village infiltration. Also just kids handling and infiltration like Konoha doesn't have more people... Rock Lee, Kiba, Shino, Sai, Hanabi, Temari, Choji, Tenten... so many.

What do you think of Shikamaru as the Eighth Hokage? He's all bark and no bite. He makes me laugh. I was surprised he accepted the job when he said being Hokage would be troublesome. Definitely not his thing, he's more suited for aid and advisor. I wonder why not Kakashi and not Sakura. Maybe not Sakura because she's already needed directing Konoha Hospital? I wonder how did that appointment with the other jonins and ANBU go.

I'm also excited to see Hanabi. I'm so sure she trained Himawari. Something tells me Sakura got something to do in the training as well. But most importantly, we need to see Hanabi the new Hyuga leader.

I want to see the new designs for the rest of Konoha 12.

Barrier Team have been working without Ino too. They have these helmets for mind transmission and their automated sensing to alert the Hokage. Been missing since the cohabitation mission. Do you think she's been demoted? It's nice to see they are a self suficent and independent team that don't need a leader. Seeing them work makes me feel like Ino was a filler there for screentime.

I can't wait to see what will happen to Konoha. It will get destroyed but will Sakura save them? Or will Boruto? And Naruto will only come back at the end of the manga, no Naruto for the next years...

Regarding Shikamaru, I certainly wouldn't say that he's all bark and no bite, but he's obviously a major downgrade from Naruto power wise. Also, when you say that the Hokage role isn't his thing, I'd agree in the sense that it isn't really something that he would choose or volunteer to be, but I'd disagree in the sense that the main manga made it a point at regular intervals to highlight how good of a leader Shikamaru is, and how he would make a good Hokage, Asuma and Temari mentioned this explicitly. Following Naruto's capture, it was always gonna be between Shikamaru, Sakura and Kakashi to take his place as Hokage, but Sakura is needed to run the hospital and Kakashi is past his prime, so Shikamaru, as Naruto's right hand man, was the logical choice as his successor.

I can relate to your excitement for seeing more of Hanabi, and Himawari as well.

Regarding Ino and the Barrier Team, I doubt she's been demoted, I don't see why she would be when they don't have anyone better.

"I wish I don't need you." Tobirama spits angrily on his pompous, soft lips, waiting to be kissed. He is consumed by anger, by those feelings he carries within and fights so hard against. Falling in love with his former enemy should not have been included in the peace treaty. "I've been so deprived... boy, when I'm with you, my hands are fucking tied." The Senju punches the wall, right next to his head, as the Uchiha stands motionless in his arms. He looks at him with a mixture of amusement and love, knowing exactly how he feels because it's the same thing he experiences deep inside him.

Neither of them wanted this, but one way or another it ended up happening.

"You're the devil disguise, and feels right, wrapped in your chains of... love. Now, I'm so miserable, Uchiha, when I'm free I just suffer and... too much, not enough, wrapped in your fucking chains." The albino turns his back on him, walking to his personal desk in the Hokage's office, resting his hands on the wood, and trying to collect his thoughts.

His head is a mess when it comes to Izuna, he can't explain how a rivalry as passionate as the one they had mutated into such strange feelings, and he chokes on not having answers.

"It ain't love if it don't hurt, Senju." The Uchiha purrs, coming up behind him and resting his forehead against his back. There is no logical understanding of how this happened, how the peace their brothers encouraged grew such a twisted bond between the two, full of betrayal for the mutual hatred they both swore to each other just a few months ago.

Izuna doesn't get it either, but he is used to feeling, not trying to rationalize, and letting himself be carried away by what his heart dictates. Today, it begs him to claim this man as his property.

"Do you remember, no safety word here? how my hands were tied, literally, faithfully, to the bedpost that night, all for you?" He evokes memories of the first time they shared together, where they both let themselves go without looking for meaning in what was transpiring. He remembers how he gave his full trust to the one who swore to be his mortal enemy, allowing him to restrict his freedom and giving unlimited access to his being.

There were no questions that night, no hard feelings.

"Your two hands cover my screams, like porno on the big screen..." his fingers run down the side of his body, up his waist toward his ribs, resting on his pecs and squeezing the soft fabric of his shirt between his hands. He can sense how Tobirama trembles under his caresses, perhaps from excitement, fear, or both.

"You ain't shy, don't lie... I'll try anything twice, maybe hit me when you're cumming, safe shit that you're running. I can learn, I'll try anything." He feels desperate, genuinely scared because he doesn't know his opponent on these grounds. They both learned to read each other accurately and prevent every move and attack, but no one taught them to detect their feelings, emotional reactions.

Izuna surrendered to the event that night, and managed to accept what was occurring inside him, the whirlwind of trouble the Senju generated, at least physically. Perhaps there are no words for what happens between the two, but the Uchiha feels an emptiness in his stomach every time he thinks about how Tobirama can disappear, not wanting to assume the undeniable between the two.

If the albino was not ready, he would be left with hands full of things for him, feelings and emotions, unspoken words, and ungiven caresses.

"There's nothing, nothing I can do..." Tobirama whispers, taking his hands in his own before turning around and facing him, looking him in the eyes and going against all the instructions he grew up with in his head.

"No... I ain't deprived, I just wanna feel. You bring out the worst in me, and that ain't how love's supposed to be!" His face becomes tense, full of restrained utterances and unaccountable emotions, and Izuna could swear it's the same countenance he faced time and time again in battle.

"And I ain't disturbed, I just prefer it... Let's not pretend that we're friends, I don't care about your plans or how your day went..." The Uchiha can already feel all the blood in his body rushing down the stairs, answering the demand his former enemy seems to require.

There is no need to understand, no use in trying to justify, guided only by bodily sensations and physical needs, an attraction it is useless to ignore. Lust for each other corrodes them, sets them on fire like the hottest flame in all hell, and leads them to contradict everything they have learned about one another, disarming themselves in each other's arms and surrendering the secret of their bodies.

Who would you save if you could only save 1: Kagami or Shisui?

Actually been thinking about this since I got this ask last night. I don't KNOW 😭😭😭😭😭

But it's an interesting thought experiment, I'm going to run with it.

Hypothetically, I think Kagami most likely died on a mission at 25, there's absolutely no other way anything else other than chakra disease (which is ridiculously stupid so I'm gonna pretend it doesn't exist) killed him. So my way of saving him would be to make him the Hokage instead of Hiruzen. Remember, Kagami was the *only* Uchiha that Tobirama really trusted, since he inherited the Will of Fire instead of the Curse of Hatred. I think that he would have feasibly been the one to offer himself up as the sacrifice, and therefore become the Third Hokage.

Of course, he would eventually die (probably fighting Orochimaru in all honesty), but if there was an UCHIHA at the seat of the Hokage, well there would be literally no issues for the clan. They wouldn't be so insistent on Fugaku being the Fourth Hokage, and when he's not selected there's no immense bad blood. They would be so much happier with everything in this timeline and the coup wouldn't even be a concept. Shisui would be born and not even have to deal with that shit, lmfao. And he'd be the grandson of the Hokage. HAHA imagine if he was like Konohamaru as a kid because of the entitlement—

If you saved Shisui instead, Danzo would still have is eye and yeah sure, you expose the corruption in Konoha, but the coup is still looming. I personally didn't think the Kotoamatsukami plan was any good, it would have just delayed things more or led to the ousting of Fugaku as clan head. He would be alive but, well, I can't say what I think it would lead to because that will spoil the entirety of my longfic currently going 🤧

Actually this is so fucking easy. I would save Kagami, especially if he became Hokage. It solves so many issues LOL. Then maybe Shisui would get to meet his grandpa 🥹 But if we're considering a world where Hiruzen is Hokage, well I don't know and you're cruel for making me think about that. I want Hiruzen to be a complex/gray character but the various story progression/retcons in Naruto left him looking so fuckin' silly I just can't take it seriously...like leaving a five-year-old to pay bills?? That's not a morally ambiguous act, that's cartoon villain shit! That's a backstory in A Series of Unfortunate Events! It leaves me unable to hate the dude in spite of -waves hand at canon- because he fails to coalesce as a coherent character to me.

He's also in a really awkward spot in general with the whole Danzo thing because...well, 1) a conflict in which one party is dead is always gonna be missing something; Hiruzen and Danzo only ever interact through flashbacks, never something happening live and 2) Danzo fundamentally clashes with the "best buddy" narrative Naruto runs on.

It's like this...if it's a good thing that Naruto keeps looking for the good in Sasuke even as he becomes a murderer and terrorist, how can it be a bad thing that Hiruzen keeps looking for the good in Danzo even as he becomes a Kissinger-ass motherfucker? You can't have your series be founded on the ideal of homoerotic friendship with a somewhat evil buddy and then go, "ok, but that homoerotic friendship with a somewhat evil buddy goes too far." If Naruto's feelings about Sasuke are valid, Hiruzen's feelings about Danzo have to also be valid. The narrative can't conclude, "yeah he should have killed Danzo ages ago" and then not conclude the same thing about Sasuke.

And, tangentially related...if there's ever a plot twist that you can picture being foiled by a character describing what's happening out loud (like, say, "coincidentally I busted out of a hermit's cave exactly in time to see a friend kill the girl I loved so I could lose all faith in humanity," or "accepted orders to murder dozens of loyal citizens without asking like one other dude if this sounded legit"), it's bad writing. If Hiruzen's sin comes down to, "how could he have been taken in by Danzo?!" then, well, that's not exactly the strongest sin because Naruto is full of characters being taken in by the dumbest shit possible to move the plot along.

If I'm gonna hate a dude, I want it to be for something he put his whole pussy into on purpose and not cheap shit like "the narrative needed Neji to have an angsty origin so yeah sure the Hokage effectively makes it punishable by death to fight back against a kidnapping by foreign nationals."

Yes, Neji.

Now we're going to assume they're all single and ready to mingle at the start of their fame, cos that kinda lines up with my take on Canon!AUs, given that Naruto and Sakura are dumbasses for at least a few years after the events of Canon lol.

Sooo:

Naruto:

Naruto actually kinda panics when he starts getting sort of mobbed in the streets. Kid is not used to be the centre of attention in a positive light and a whole bunch of people rushing him sets his fight or flight response to flight pretty damn quick.

He settles into it, after he is reminded that as Hokage he would have to be seen around the village and people will come up to him, but he's always more comfortable with kids who come up to him.

Cue more than a few occasions when the women in his life have their ovaries burst when they see Naruto being like ... perfect dad material lol. Sakura and Hinata being the ones most effected by it lol. But even Ino gets a bit gooey at the sight of Naruto playing with kids at a park lol.

He's much, much more comfortable with his Bingo Book fame though. Run on sight orders are put in place, much like with Minato way back when. It's a tremendous ego boost that Naruto can just be a walking deterrent for any criminals who might get ideas.

As for suitors ... well lol.

Jiraiya would be so proud lol.

Naruto gets laid a lot is what I'm saying.

He has his fair share of girlfriends before he winds up with Sakura in most universes. Hinata being the only big one though. He normally dates her for a year or two before it falls apart.

Most of his liaisons though come from kunoichi and villagers from out of Konoha. As most kunoichi and villagers in their home village are very. very aware of the dance Naruto and Sakura are doing with each other.

Doesn't mean a few Konoha kunoichi and villagers don't *try* but it's kinda hard to put moves on Naruto when you never know when Sakura could be watching you.

The most crucial part of his fame though, and his revealed lineage, is who is father is.

Interestingly a few of the kunoichi Naruto has hooked up with when he's been single specifically wanted to fuck him cos he was the Yellow Flash's son. Something about 'sleeping with the enemy being hot'.

But other than that, it entirely solidifies for a lot of people that Naruto will be Hokage in the future. He's a former Hokage's son, he's the descendant of the first two, he's the adoptive grandson of the third, the adoptive son/brother of the current one and not to mention, he's a goddamn war hero.

So yeah, Naruto's fame works wonders for him for the most part.

The exceptions though, are when he and Sakura get together, it doesn't stop all of the women he comes across propositioning him. Now Naruto would never stray from Sakura, wouldn't happen, and Sakura knows that, but it does rustle her jealousy when someone she deems more attractive than her is hitting on her man.

That has led to Naruto having to drag his wife away before she causes an international incident cos some girl from Kiri didn't take 'I'm married' as the no it was.

Thankfully he get's left alone by the general populace outside of waves and hellos, this isn't like modern celebrity culture where celebs can't even grab a meal in a restaurant without getting mobbed.

Sakura

Sakura's new found fame is a little less ... all consuming than Naruto's. She was a big part but people have always kinda known her as the student of Tsunade and she's had some time to get used to that level of fame.

She loves when little kids, especially the girls, come and tell her she's made them want to be medical nin or just doctors and nurses when they grow up. She loves that.

She's also greatly respected the world over for her prowess and is regarded as one of the most beautiful women in the world. The last one makes her blush furiously, especially when Naruto teases and flirts with her over it.

And while she does date Sasuke very briefly, very briefly, when he leaves again they break up and Sakura is entirely fine with it, Sakura spends less time dating and getting laid than Naruto does.

She has relationships, and some cheeky liaisons herself. She's a beautiful woman and single, and it's not only Naruto who gets to get laid lol.

But it is less of a thing. Sakura is more ... cautious with her relationships and hook ups. Maybe it's cos she's a medical professional and her timetable is less free, maybe it's just not wanting to have as many partners, maybe it's because none of them are who she actually wants.

That third one is a bit harder to hash out before she accepts she's in love with Naruto lol.

There's also been more than enough marriage proposals sent her way from people who've never met her. People want the beautiful and powerful Sakura Haruno as their new bride, or their son's bride. They are all flatly refused.

Her clan is so small it's basically just her dad's extended family and he's the head of it. And he very much recognises that arranged marriages are not for his daughter. The only one she'd probably be happy with is one with a certain blond knucklehead best friend she insists she isn't desperately in love with.

No one really tries to coax Sakura away from Naruto when they get together, as most men who would dare try are too afraid of what Naruto would do to them.

And the fact that they don't think Sakura would do worse to them, is one of the many reasons they'd never succeed anyway. And we will not be having the predatory lesbian stereotype enforced either, cos for those who have been paying attention you will know Sakura's relationships are not just with men ...

Her fame does help her get more attention towards her medical policies and practices. And as the Hokage's wife, Sakura is implemental in getting a lot of Naruto's policies in place with the least amount of fuss.

Naruto and Sakura's greatest achievement out of being parents of course is the passing of two laws.

The ban of the inhumane Caged Bird Seal and the raising of age requirements to go on missions outside of Konoha for their Genin. That second one took all of their combined political power and still get's push back.

Neji

Heh. My boy.

So first things first, he doesn't die lol.

And unlike the complications fame puts on his friends' lives, Neji's life doesn't change much in the immediate.

He puts any possibility of suitors to bed by very swiftly dating, getting engaged and marrying Tenten. Their first child coming along very quickly too.

No one ever tries, and Hiashi is so relieved, despite his dickish behaviour, that his nephew didn't die, that he doesn't even try and marry him off.

And as his popularity and influence grows, Neji makes a play to ban the Caged Bird Seal being used. He helps it be achieved by being the face of the campaign against it as Hinata, Hanabi, Tenten, Naruto, Sakura and Lee work with him to ban it forever.

Neji takes his fame and pushes it to the betterment of his fellow branch members and so his children will never have to bear a kill mark like he and his father did.

Desert Flower Part 20

End of the Preliminary Rounds,

"Medical team, come over here quickly!" Hayate shouted. Naruto hopped down. He glared at Gaara as he ran past him, heading over to Yuri and Lee. Several medics came running over, checking on Lee. They placed him on a stretcher and one of the medics looked at Gai.

"You're his Jonin instructor, right? Please, come over here." He asked and pulled Gai aside. "His breathing is fine, but his bones are shattered, and his muscles are torn throughout his body. We could do something about it, if that was the only problem. The damage to his left arm and leg are severe. It's difficult to say something like this, but...with this body. He will never be able to fight again."

Naruto and Yuri's eyes widen in shock. Yuri shook her head, refusing to believe what she had heard.

"N-No, that can't be. You're lying."

"If that's true, then what's bushy brow supposed to do!? He's always saying how he wanted to fight Sasuke and that Neji guy! Can't you do something about it!?" Naruto shouted, angrily. Kakashi stopped Naruto, holding on to him.

"That might have been what caused this tragedy. The decision to use the forbidden jutsu, to win at all cost. This is the result. To Sasuke, Neji, and to you, Naruto. To fulfill the silent promise, you made to each other. He puts his life at risk to reach the final stage, to fight all of you." Kakashi told him. "Don't forget that."

"Gai...we're in the way for the next match. Let's go upstairs." Kakashi asked Gai, who had his back facing him.

"Yeah."

Yuri frowned. She knew that he was crying. She was still angry and in disbelief with what happened. Yuri glanced over at Gaara seeing him using his sand to teleport back up to the upper floor. Naruto walked over to her.

"Hey, maybe you should get checked out as well. Those cuts look kind of deep." Naruto told her concerned.

"I'm fine." She told him. Naruto held out the medicine that Hinata had gave him that he used a little from his last match. He scooped a little bit of the cream, rubbing it on Yuri's forehead and arms.

"That should stop the bleeding a little until you get patched up."

"Thanks, Naruto." Yuri smiled. The two, headed back up the stairs, meeting with Kakashi and Sakura. 

The final match was Choji against Dosu. Dosu won when Choji used his human boulder technique to crash into the wall, getting himself stuck. Dosu used his sound waves to knock Choji, unconscious.

"The preliminary trails for the 3rd round have been completed!" Hayate spoke. 

The competitors that were left were Sasuke, Shino, Yuri, Kankuro, Shikamaru, Temari, Naruto, Gaara, Neji, and Dosu.

"To all of you who won the rights to compete in the third round of the Chunin exam, although, one is missing, congratulations to you all!" Hayate said and turned to the Third. "Lord Hokage, if you would."

"Yes. Now, I'd like to explain the final test." The Third spoke.

Yuri smiled. "Freaking finally!"

"As I told you before, your matches will be seen by everybody. Each of you will fight to represent the strength of your countries. I'd like you to show off all your powers without holding back. Which is why the finals, will be held one month from now."

"We're not going to do it here, right now?" Naruto questioned.

"This break, as you say, will help you prepare."

"What does that mean?" Neji asked.

"In other words, in addition to informing all the various country lords and shinobi leaders, this is the time needed to arrange for the gathering of the event. And this is also preparation time for you examination students." The Third told them.

"I don't understand! What are you trying to say?!" Kankuro demanded.

"Basically, its preparation to get to know your enemy and yourself. It's a time period where you calculate your chances of winning. By analyzing, the data you accumulated during the trials. The battles up until now had you fight as you were in an acutal combat situation. However, the final trial will not be like this. There are those who showed all they can do to their rivals. There are those who competed and were badly injured against a strong opponent. To make everything fair, one month should be used by all of you to advance and improve yourselves. Of course, it'll be a fine rest to your body as well." The Third explained. "Before I dismiss you, there is one last thing that must be done for the finals."

"Then what the hell is it!? I've got to train now!" Naruto shouted.

"Now, don't be excited. There are pieces of paper inside the box that Anko is hiding so each one of you take a piece."

"I'll come around, so wait your turn." Anko said and she started pass the box around and everyone drew from it. Each paper had a number written on it.

Each of them told their numbers to Ibiki and he wrote them down.

"Now, I will reveal to you the final tournament-" The Third spoke before he was interrupted by Shikamaru.

"That's what we drew the numbers for!?" Shikamaru shouted.

Ibiki showed everyone on who they were going to fight.

"Naruto vs. Neji, Gaara vs. Sasuke, Kankuro vs. Shino, Temari vs. Shikamaru. Yuri vs. Dosu."

Yuri's eyes widen and she glanced over at the sound ninja, silently. She tensed up a little nervous. Great. She was going to have to go against this guy! She sighed. Well, she was looking for some pay back!

"You're free to start strategizing or resting as you like. With this I dismiss you all, but is there any final questions?" The Third asked.

"I have one." Shikamaru spoke, raising his hand. "Since this is a tournament, then there's only going to be one winner, right? Which means only one person can become a Chunin, right?"

"No, that's quite the opposite. There will be judges including myself, the Kazekage, and lords of various countries. That will make mission requests and other ninja leaders who will be watching the final test." The Third explained. "Throughout the tournament, these judges will evaluate your abilities. Those judged, will have the necessary qualities of a Chunin will be able to become one. Even if they lose their first match."

"That means that there's a possibility that everyone here could be a Chunin?" Temari asked.

"Yes." The Third nodded. "But there's also the possibility that no one will be a Chunin. To advance in the tournament means that you have more chances to appeal the judges. Well then, thanks for all your effort you exerted for these trials! You're all dismissed until a month for now!"

In the Pasture of a Vale (Supernatural) - Dean runs into Adam and Ben five years post-season 5 (written back in 2010)

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

 I think I always end up with a kind of mixed emotion ending like Best Laid Plans or Our Soulmate Academia, so it's difficult to remember the truly happy ones. The most recent happy ending would be The Mystery in the Fog (ACD!Holmes) where Holmes and Watson end up at the same secret wedding of an underground queer club they're both members of unbeknownst to each other and have some revelations

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Sometimes I do. The most infamous incident was the time I wrote a fic speculating on who Castiel's vessel might have been before I got to Jimmy's episode in my binge watch back in the day. The reviewer went into gruesome detail on how I was going to burn in Hell for my fic. It was unreal. I just deleted the fic and then went on to write several more SPN fics as you do.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I've written smut a handful of times for fics and more often than that for RP since that's part of the RP culture I fell into in university. Most of my smut fics have been orphaned now, but the one that remains is Swallow My Fang at Night Island (Interview with the Vampire (AMC)) I approach smut like I approach fight scenes so I can keep track of the flow of action. I keep my own personal kinks out of it and try to write a scene I think the audience would look for instead

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I've written 15 crossovers. I enjoy them tbh. In terms of plot, the craziest one I wrote was Distortion (BBC Sherlock/My Life in Film) where Jones was hired to play Moriarty and things get way too real. In terms of titles crossed over, the craziest one is probably The Hokage (Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle/Naruto)

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yes, ages ago. It's why I'm my own beta reader or Kitty Britpicks me because I can trust her

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

I had some requests but I've never been alerted to the final products

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

My brother and I regularly cowrote fics together when I was in high school and he was in middle school. If you ever read a Trigun script-based crack fic in the 00's with the phrase "Love and peace! Doves and geese! Change the world!" or "Another carnival ride with cotton candy," that was us.

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

I don't think I actually have one because I'm a multi-shipper and I have so many favorites. That said, it might be inuyasha/Kagome since I always had an Inuyasha fic in rotation (usually more than one though) from 2001 - 2007 or so. Unfortunately they've all been lost to time. According to my AO3 relationship toggle in the filters sidebar, it's Destiel (7) and Devil's Minion (7)

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I have a BnHA fic from before we learned what Hagukure's powers were where she sent Class-A and Aizawa back in time to Yagi's high school years to do a kind of Tenchi in Love (1996) type of plot where they had to stop a time traveler from murdering Yagi. I wrote quite a bit of it but it stalled on me when Midoriy and Nana interacted and I wasn't completely sure how to get that to work

16. What are your writing strengths?

The most consistent thing I get complimented on are my fight sequences, which is why it's sad I lost all my IY fics because I wrote so many fights for them

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

My memory is a sieve and some of the holes are too big

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I've done it before because I was a weeb and it was a trend in the 00's. Not sure I'd do it again now that I've matured past that.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Technically fairytales. I retold Cinderella when I was so little my mom had to write it down for me because I couldn't write yet. I drew pictures to go with the narration

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

The Land Across the Sea (Black Clover/Boruto) - Boruto ride a tsunami to Clover Kingdom and the knights have to take him back home, which is also Yami's homeland.

I got the idea for this fic when a friend and I were talking about what we'd want the Black Clover movie to be about when it was first announced. Then I took my idea of Yami getting to return to his homeland and made it a crossover because I like the idea of Yami and Naruto knowing each other from back in the day.

The Impossible Dream

I imagined a kickass fade, between kid Naruto and Naruto the Hokage with the line "To dream the impossible dream..."

And individually the line has a lot of weight behind it. And it would kick ass.

But it's wrong, though. Because by the time Boruto rolls around Naruto has gotten everything.

The song is about someone who doesn't succeed. It's about the nobility of fighting on when you can't win.

This is about Rock Lee, and Might Guy. That is, the people whose dreams actually turned out to be impossible and had to keep living their lives with some dreams unfulfilled. The ones who never quite measured up, no matter the challenge. But who never gave up no matter the challenge, either.

If you've watched Naruto, you can probably immediately fill in favorite scenes for each line.

To dream the impossible dream To fight the unbeatable foe To stand when your legs are too weary To run where the brave dare not go

This is my quest: to follow that star No matter how hopeless, no matter how far To fight for the right without question or pause To be willing to march into hell for a heavenly cause

And I know if I'll only be true to my glorious quest that my heart can lie peaceful and calm when I'm laid to my rest. And the world will be better for this; that one man, scorned and covered in scars still fought, with his last ounce of courage to reach the unreachable star.

I had forgotten how sincere Kakashi can be with Team 7. I'm pretty sure it's not just anybody, but with them even when he's hiding he is revealing himself.

From his reaction to their introduction you can tell he's already thinking about his own team. He is surprised to hear Naruto talk about being Hokage, half because that is Minato and Kushina's kid, half because it's just so painfully Obito of (Naruto). He hears Sasuke and he knows, he knew, he is not a little impressed; Sasuke wants revenge and he wants the past back, he's on a mission and he's not cruel, but ultimately his mission comes before the team, his teammates, anyone else. At the very least Sakura was not so similar to Rin. Sakura was just a girl more interested in achieving happiness and true love than any ninjutsu, which is a totally different type of burn. Naruto and Sasuke hurt for what they already were, but Sakura— Sakura was a tragedy in the making.

He tells them they'll chicken out if they heard what the test is about (they did). He doesn't tell what he can't, but he openly denies it, he never tries to makes thing up. He teaches them through the test and his words ring through the entire manga, prophecies of his own. Sasuke is the nail that sticks out, he says, the one that's gonna get hammered down, buried to the neck, incapable of moving. Naruto's the one who runs first into traps and is always left hanging, not that he cares, not that he won't find a way back to the ground and run back to his teammates. Sakura will always be the girl in love, too soft to be in the shinobi life, too stubborn to give up. She suffers for the mere implications and what ifs of the world.

But he takes them there, like he wishes Obito and Rin could watch those three running around the training ground. He places the food there on the memorial, he starts the test right in front of that stone. And when he talks about teamwork, then he tells his kids those are the names of my best friends in this stone. He talks about how enemies can use your teammates against you and how teamwork is everything, he talks about boys that are left behind and boys that think they can live life alone and girls who go chasing boys that are not even there when there already a boy right in front of her. And he tells Naruto this is the dead type of heroes.

He gives them another chance.

He knows, he knows, they can't know yet 'cause they are kids, naive kids, but if only they payed attention to what's hiding between his words, to the underneath under the underneath, they would understand too. The man is so fucking happy to see them work together, there's a heart next to his words when he speaks.

He then proceeds to teach them to ignore rules and any authority in favor of protecting each other, so I wonder why Team 7 got in so many troubles through the years only because they refused to leave the others behind, or because they desperately wanted to but the others would not allow such behavior. Really, who would have guessed, right?

Again, those were his kids since day one and he opened his heart to them, no conditions. His first and only team, the ones he would go to the end of the world for, fight aliens with, unlock crazy jutsus to protect, even died for and come back to life for.

He's not the best of teachers, but he did his best and he loved them with his entire heart. That we can't deny.
