i put this on the dropout discord but also putting it here cause i'm proud: my edible map of calorum. vegan except for the fish and the cheese islands. and it was super fun to plan and make! my favorite parts are the kohakutou crystals and the borderland foods like the quince tarts and mini donair. also you can't see them very well in this picture but i did hide tiny mushrooms in some key locations :)

Introducing Whumpcember 2022!

Everyone's heard of Whumptober or Febuwhump, Angstpril or Sicktember, but get ready for Whumpcember! Whumpcember is pretty much exactly like Whumptober or Febuwhump, except in December.

Whumpcember is born out of a love of monthly whump challenges but with zero time to complete them. I also want to complete these challenges, but never have the time! So I came to realize that, from an American perspective, December is the month I get the most time off. So, I decided to create this event for people who have too much time in December, but so little across the other 12 months. Of course, this is most definitely an American experience and not universal; so if you don't have free time during December it is still perfectly alright to participate! This event was just made to cure my December boredom, and anyone else's.

Now after that ramble, onto the actual rules:

Prompts should be answered with whump as the main focus (i'll let angst slide though, since it's similar enough to whump)

Fanfic! Gif! Text post! Fanart! Fan video! Any piece of media that you can possibly make that has whump counts!

You can use the prompts any time! Don't feel the need to rush

Though, prompts answered during December will most likely be reblogged

Post anywhere! AO3, Wattapad, Tumblr, or even Fanfic.Net! So as long as you make a Tumblr post with a link to the answered prompt it may be reblogged.

When posting onto Tumblr you can either @/ the blog or tag with #whumpcember2022 and the day's tag, such as #whumpcember2022 day1

Don't forget to add any warnings necessary, such as NSFW or sexual content

13 years of Sherlock

30th October is my Sherlock Day on which I watched the series for the first time (back in 2010).

By now I’ve produced over a thousand pieces of fanart, over a million words of fanfic, two hand sewn Sherlock coats, many trips to the UK for Sherlock related events including cosplay sessions, there’s a graphic novel coming up … the list goes on, and I’m still not done with the boys and their world.

I’ve made many friends in the Sherlock fandom, and would like to thank all the brilliant fanfic authors whose works have inspired many of the artworks above (you can find all my fanfic illustrations at my #fanfic tag, and all artworks at my #drawing tag, and those fics I particularly liked at my AO3 bookmarks), my fellow fanartists who constantly make me want to improve because they’re so good, the faithful readers who leave comments and kudos, and all my followers here and on Twitter for their support.

Those who have been following me for a while know the drill. To celebrate, I’m doing a giveaway for my followers on Tumblr, Twitter, Bluesky and Wordpress, running from today until 6th November 2023, 22h GMT:

Are crossovers allowed? What about OCs? Crossovers within the Rune Factory and/or the Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons universe are allowed as well as Rune Factory-based OCs.

-What forms of media are accepted for this event? Because I had some issues in the past with a few people, I have no choice but to narrow down the criteria to fanart and fanfiction. HOWEVER, that does not mean edits and videos are no longer allowed! You can still submit them so long as they have some sort of original aspect (like a video of a fan-made in-game scene, incorrect quote-styled edits, etc.), I will accept those into the “fanfiction” category. All that being said, if you’ve participated in the past with different forms of media than listed above, please contact me and we can work something out!(please message me if you have any questions about this)

Please put as much effort into this as possible. Your giftee would probably be disappointed with a blurry drawing on notebook paper taken with a camera, so I will not be accepting something like that as a final gift.

-I’m a fanfic writer, how long should my story be? I would recommend 1000 words minimum. There’s no word cap, but please keep it reasonable.

-Can I send my giftee an anonymous ask if I need more details about their gift? Yes, absolutely! If they do not have anonymous enabled, feel free to send me a message and I’ll ask for you.

-I want to participate but I don’t have a tumblr. Thankfully you don’t need one to participate, all you need to provide is a form of contact!

-I got assigned the same person as I have before! This is a small fandom, so that may happen with an event with many of the same people signing up year after year. I’m only one person, and I cannot remember who has been assigned to who before, so if this happens and you’d like someone else, please feel free to let me know!

-I got assigned something that I’m not familiar with! I use a random number generator to assign match-ups and I do try to fix match-ups that are incompatible, but sometimes I may miss something. If you are an artist, I may have to end up assigning you something RF1 based when you have only played RF4 based on how many signups there are, but when it comes to writers, I try my hardest to make sure they are familiar with the source material. Still, if you are assigned something or someone you are not comfortable with, please let me know ASAP and I will work on getting you switched.

I THINK BECAUSE IT GETS TOO DARK FHSDJKFSDFKJDSF like without giving the reason of "oh theres a lot of queer characters" or smtn similar, i think ferrymen would get pulled off air bc i dont pull punches with it's subject matter. that could absolutely be my bias though bc honestly in the grand scheme of things ferrymen is pretty tame, it's no "alone" from moral orel to be sure lol

9.) if your story got a video game adaptation/spin off, what would it be like?

i'd want it to be very psychonauts esque! quirky platformer with a unique art style, strong characters, levels based in characterization, heavy focus on story, etc. i'm not a game designer so i cant say anything beyond Vibes, but i think smtn like that would be fun

or maybe a game kinda like the wolf among us. a choose your own adventure mystery with a stark artstyle and choices that impact the plot and characters

since about early-mid 2020 iirc! ferrymen went through a lot of EXTREME changes pretty rapidly. it used to be a cyberpunk murder mystery called CMYK and had a few different characters in it! i still wanna use moss for some other project lol

I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THIS IS THE THING LOL. not exactly this but i have thought about what all the characters blogs would look like:

i think nathans socials have been dead for the past 5 years, but his tumblr would just be covered in photos from his ghost hunts, livestream announcements, reblogging fanart for his show, etc. bc the story takes place in the 2030s/2040s i think nathans old enough to have been a tumblr veteran too so he knows the fucking Ancient Texts. don't think he would've bothered deleting it so it kind of just serves as a time capsule of the peak of ParaNathan

mai's blog is entirely anonymous and is mostly just her reblogging posts about cryptids and the paranormal. it's pretty empty even though she's had it for Years because she would've nuked her blog out of embarrassment at some point bc it was just COVERED in fandom stuff she's embarrassed of now, even if she still secretly really loves all that old stuff.

i think the fact that later in the story ferrymen depicts abelism towards an autistic person would drive twitter crazy lol. like the whole point is "this is bad and this is how it's damaging to this character and their sense of identity" but the twitter crowd loooves the idea of depiction = condoning and would probably happily ignore the fact that i'm autistic and this character's struggles are reflective of my own so. wuh oh HFKJHDSJHKFDJ

I know that ice pick joe operates mostly as a henchman/comic relief, but when he said "the past cannot be unfrozen, only chipped away at bit by bit and if you do not carve your own path into the ice of what you've done, it will eventually melt and drown you" I feel like that perfectly summed up so many themes of the movie and what it has to say about the looming specter of your own decisions, which is especially tragic when you consider how joe is in many ways a representation of how if you're trapped in a system early on (like poverty or violence) it is impossible to escape and that him trying to break that cycle is what ultimately kills him

anyway 4/13 is tommorow and there’s never a better day to start reading homestuck so i’ll probably pin the free unofficial recovered version for anyone who wants to read! i know homestuck is cringe and everyone says they hate it but tbh ive never known a more enjoyable and memorable character-driven story. if youre looking for something to get into, well, it never hurts to try something new

also its ok if you dont understand everything in the first acts, itll make a lot more sense on a reread. the characters are whats important anyway :]

it is so fucking unfair for disney to not properly promote this movie at all and for it to bomb so badly in theaters like it’s doing just because it actually had genuinely good poc and queer rep! i am SEETHING about how they intentionally set it up to fail and i can’t imagine how the people who worked on the movie feel!

Last Song: Not counting the soundtrack to the movie I’m watching, the last song I listened to on Spotify was “Snow Fairy” (the first opening theme to Fairy Tail). The one before that has been stuck in my head though. It’s this song from ‘given’ that I don’t know the translation for.

Last TV Show: given. And I cried just as much as I did the first time I watched it

Currently watching/listening to: Aladdin. It’s a familiar movie that I can easily fall asleep to, and it’s also sentimental
