Jharkhand has a lot to offer, especially with its series of rock art sites. It's not just about the cave but more about how our ancestors used to live with a culture that prevails even today. Talking about the place named 'Isko' in the Hazaribagh district is the village where lies such caves. It is believed to be the shelter for primitive humans. Additionally, the cave art painting on its exterior wall is still followed and practised in many indegenous cultures of Jharkhand and Chattisgarh. Okay, apparently google is spreading misinformation to english speakers. LIBRAS(Língua Brasileira de Sinais) is the national sign language of Brazil.
There are other brazilians sign languages, languages of indeginous people, but to my knowledge they don't go by any acronym.
I saw the wikipedia page, and I have no fucking idea where it took that acronyms, LIBRAS goes only by LIBRAS in Brazil. Also don't mistake LIBRAS with LGP(Língua gestual portuguesa/Portuguese gestural language). LGP is from Portugal. (saw some mistakes when people were making headcanons of the eggs speaking in sign languages)

Something that bothers me about this fandom is when people say that we shouldn't ship Sokka and Katara with Zuko and Azula because colonizers and the Fire Nation tried to colonize the water tribes and wipe them out. Here's the thing. It wasn't just the water tribes. The Fire Nation attacked the Earth Kingdom too. They completely wiped out the air nomads as well. And yet I don't see anyone having any issue with Zukaang, Jinko or Jetko. So why is it only a problem when it's Zutara, Zukka, Azutara, and Sokkla?
Also? You do realize that by saying this, you're pretty much saying that white people and black people shouldn't be together. That pretty much anyone who is white should not be together with a person of color, because of the history of colonialism. You're saying that people of color should not look for love outside of our own race because of the history that is there. Do you know what we call that way of thinking? Racism. And I will tell you why. Because you are saying that interracial relationships are a problem and should not exist. And for someone like me, who is from the United States of America, where interracial marriage is still looked down upon in some states, and the Republicans have tried to get rid of it before? As someone who is black and indeginous, as someone who had a grandmother who was half white? I take offense to that. Because you are being racist.
I'm also going to say this, and I'm sorry if it sounds racist but it's the truth and it needs to get called out: this kind of thinking is usually by white people who see it as some kind of gotcha moment and think that they are combating racism by saying stuff like this. Man, do I have some news for you. You aren't helping anything. You are still actively a part of the problem because you are still being racist. Not to say that it's only white people, because I've seen people who aren't white say the exact same thing. And it's nonsense. Why are we condemning people who have nothing to do with what their ancestors did? By that logic, I shouldn't be best friends with a boy I met in my freshmen year of high school, who is white and from Greece. Because people who look just like him enslaved my people centuries ago, treated them like garbage, hunted us down like we were animals, etc. But guess what? That has nothing to do with him.
Lastly, people who are from different cultural backgrounds getting together should be seen as a sign of hope, a sign that we can learn to co exist with one another and live in peace with each other. It should be seen as a step forward to a better future. It should not be seen as a bad thing. If two people from different backgrounds want to be together? That's on them. It has absolutely nothing to do with you. And if it bothers you that much, that's a problem that YOU have and that you need to look at and sort out. Don't make it everyone else's problem.

They say St. Patrick vanished all the "Serpents" from Ireland. Little did we know, St. Patrick was referring to the humans who possessed serpent wisdom! The Twa(Leprechauns) had a full understanding of the order of the cosmos, the order of nature, as well as holistic healing methods to cure disease. They also had knowledge of major locations where gold could be accumulated all throughout Europe! So when you celebrate your St. Patrick's Day, you're celebrating the slaughter of indeginous Twa, who carried the SERPENT WISDOM, which was given to them by the Gods from Sirius!

Now, what I was actually getting to in the ask before I pocket sent. Onto names and languages
In regards to Liochant, it is of my belief that he doesn't use his actual name but a metaphorical translation. His actual name being Lais Ravanah Havilah, or Lions Roar of the Sands. First two names being translated to Lions Chat then to Liochant. In his native writing system, it's ꖎᔑ╎ᓭ ∷ᔑ⍊ᔑリᔑ⍑ ⍑ᔑ⍊╎ꖎᔑ⍑ (minecraft enchantment table)
Kul'Zak was fun for me because his name reminds me of Aztec and he is the only one we don't have a definitive country/region of origin of or region of worship, meaning I can go full Aztec on this one while making it fit.
While the majority of the Divine Warrior names are rather random or made up. (Chosen from video game characters and such) Enki is actually named after the Sumerian god of magic and wisdom so me naming Kul'Zak after an aztec God wouldn't be out of place. Well, at least as not as out of place as Shad, who is one letter away from just being called Chad. Anyway, this is why I am headcannoning that Kul'Zak unshortened/un-nicknamed name is Quetzalcóatl, named after the aztec God of Winds, Rain, and a Creation.
While out of order it does share similar speech pronunciations, and as some who has had friends with an indeginous aztec name, people will give the wildest nicknames to them instead of actually pronouncing it. (Rip my old friend Xóchitl, who teachers just referred to as Zoey, Texas things y'all.)
oooo i love name stuff.
Avra is actually a name in a language i made for my rewrite. It's basically an in-world equivalent of 'Jane Doe'. it means a (typically, but not exclusively) feminine individual without a name, or known identity. In some areas, the differentiations between the versions of the name (Avra, Avre, Avron) are regional instead of gender-based, or refer to different religions.
It comes from the word Avret (to not have a name, which derives from Aven - name, and Rel - to not have).
-A is the typical suffix for: individual feminine, someone who is soft spoken, someone who believes in wild gods, or someone with dark hair.
The name is used for unnamed newborns, unidentified corpses, or those who wish to revoke their names for some 'higher purpose'. this is also often used to refer to strangers, in a more casual manner. because of this, when Avra is referred to as such in texts, people just assume she doesnt have a name, and add 'nameless' to a bunch of her titles.

Thank you for linking me to that post! I've read it and find I've several questions at hand. If W*ndigoag are what happens when someone succumbs to GREED AND CRUELTY, how come the Washington siblings turn into them? They didn't cannibalize out of malice, merely desperation. And, it's implied that the guy with the flamethrower is indegineous ("the land is sacred to his forefathers"), so shouldn't he know better than to say the word out loud? And finally, what should we call them if not by their name? Sorry to pester you so much, I'm just alarmed at being unaware after all this time of being a diehard fan of the game. Thank you for your time!
don't worry about pestering me! it's important to have discussions like this, it's how we learn and become better at spotting appropriation and other such things like this in other pieces of media, especially when you're not of that culture.
unfortunately, this is simply the way the spirit is usually depicted in media. people will be looking for a monster that is known for cannibalism, and then appropriate the Algonquian spirit, not looking deeper than that one fact. this is true for Until Dawn as well, hence why the story and the monster is a tragedy about desperation, and not one of greed and cruelty. The miners and Hannah and Josh succumbed because the people at Supermassive didn't look much further than "spirit that does the cannibalism and also there's fire." If Algonquian people had been consulted, the themes of the game would probably be quite different, as the spirit would've been true to form. If Supermassive wanted to keep the feelings of desperation and lack of control and guilt that the game does have, a different monster that actually feeds and preys on those feelings could've been used. I don't know very much about North American folklore, but one that doesn't appropriate indigenous cultures HAS to exist.
Jack Fiddler aka flamethrower guy is named after and based on an actual indigenous man. I'd go so far as to say that he is directly related to the actual Jack Fiddler in canon. If it wasn't obvious that Algonquian people were not consulted when making the game before, it does when looking at his character. You're totally right - he should know better, even if he was actively seeking them out and hunting them.
Like I said in the first post I made about this, call them monsters when talking generally. If you're talking about main game Hannah, just call her Hannah - there's really no reason to do otherwise. Same thing applies to Josh. And if you really have to say it for whatever reason, make sure you censor it like you did in this ask.

A message from your friendly neighborhood Appalachian Latina:
Okay so today being the day that it is and me being the person I am I heave decided to talk about Appalachian heritage and culture vs what a bunch crappy people have tried to make it. This is all my experience not universal also some will be funny and totally fine to laugh at.
Im starting on the more serious note here because I feel these things really need to be addresed and as a Appalachian woman of color I often have felt that people dont think that both parts of this identity are compatible.
Things that are not Appalachian:
- Being racist
-being xneophobic
-Being homophobic or transphobic
-Flying a confederate flag (most of Appalachia was border states if not fighting for the Union side)
-Drinking shitty beer
- Licking the boots of cops and corporations
- being against higher education
- being an anti vaxxer
- glorifying the coal industry and the lives it has cost and is still costing
- hatred towards indeginous people
-Supporting a toxic or abusive family dynamic
-denying woman human rights
- shaming poor people
-Intentionally making your truck stupidly loud
-Union busting, and being against care and support for the disabled and elderly
-Poaching (Appalachian people value our resources and nature) WE hunt to eat not just to kill or destroy
Moving onto some lighter stuff, now these are some of things I love about being Appalachian and part of this culture and community.
Things that are actually Appalachian:
-Running from cops (seriously its like a whole ass thing)
-Fighting for Unions and Workers rights (The actual origin of Redneck, that term is not for racist fuck heads, it originated from red bandanas worn for Pro-union rights
-Being completely and terrifyingly unphased by coyotes
-Making your liquor
-Ignoring the screaming in the woods because that aint your problem
-Folk magic and traditions and superstitions rooted in Paganism and some indigenous magic
-Being part of the underground railroad (The appalachians made a ton of safe houses and protections pre and post civil war for people fleeing the south)
-Hunting to control Deer population and for food
-Knowledge of homesteading, useful herbs, and homeopathic remedies
-Strong sense of community and family
-Ignoring whatever is moving in the corn feild because you arent a white guy in a horror movie
-Women forming safe houses from abusive husbands or from other types of danger
-Valuing and appreciating the land and the connection we have with it
-Fist fighting God in a coal mine
-Weird ass folk tales and cryptids (see MothMan)
-Not letting your commuity go hungry
-caring for the old sick and vulnerable not out of pity but out of compassion and respect
-Fighting for your rights and the rights of others
-Resilience and strength in times of adversity
-Knowing at least on person who’s grandmother was some kind of witch with psychic abilities
-Knowing when the woods is silent something is wrong
-Screaming back at screech owls to assert dominance
-verbal history
-vibrant stories and music
These are my experiences as an Appalachian woman of color who loves both parts of her heritage and desperate wants to discourage the narrative that Appalachian people are rude prejudiced and uneducted. We are a resilient and loving people, we are full of stories traditions and a melting together of the new and old worlds. We are people with a murky history, yes, but we are full of acceptance love and strength.
To all my fellow Appalachians who hear these mixed narratives, know that we are the authors of our story. TO all my fellow people of color know that this mountainous region is not built exclusively on hate. Know that you belong, that your cultures are valid and that progress is not about rejecting your culture but about adaption to embrace new perspectives and beginning new stories
