OPK was positive this morning. My husband and I BD last night and plan to tonight and tomorrow as well. Hoping this is the cycle we get our rainbow. I'm cautiously optimistic that this will be our cycle.

Other thoughts on my mind are mostly around how stressful ttc is, not sure if this is the same for other couples, but it feels like my husband is just so laid back, not worried about anything, he's just so relaxed while I'm over here peeing in cups for ovulation tests, tracking BTT, buying special lubes and vitamins, and tracking my cycle.

How is this fair? lol the husband should have to do some of this, I know obviously they can't, but heck man, it would be nice if we could alternate taking OPK lol like why am I the one that has to pee on my fingers all the time. I tell you what by the time this is over, I'm going to have impeccable aim when it comes to peeing in a cup.

hi! so I’m sorry i left you in my inbox for over a week—I hope you don’t think you offended me. you haven’t, I just wanted to sit with it, because even if I know the answer immediately, I wanted to make sure I was being tactful.

so, I can’t have children. it’s something I found out last year officially—but my husband and I wasn’t always sure if we did want/didn’t want children. there’s a lot of complex feelings attached to that I’m not going to share, but the thing we are sure of as a concrete is that we do not want our own children. but we do like children, specifically friends and families.

Javi and reader in LNT are entirely up to you to imagine, I love them deeply, but they likely won’t be revisited (as I love them exactly how they are). so maybe they do, maybe they don’t.

now, DMY Frankie already has a child. one that rainy will love, so much, as part of the main series. rainy has lived with me for a long time, and I know, hand on heart, she’s going to be an amazing step mom, and large part of Luca’s life.

but for me, personally, and something I’ll maybe only ever explore in one shots (to not ruin any illusions for others) and only if people wish me too, I don’t think she’ll have children. so I never imagine them growing out of the three of them. I’ve had the most beautiful thoughts of them years down the line, how their family is blended, that there’s a dog and a bunch of other things. but never another child.

that isn’t to say you can’t imagine them differently when the series comes to an end, as none of this is imperative for it. this is just my thoughts as the writer who lives with her.

Reading this post about Anne Boleyn, made me think about Eleanor Cobham and her childlessness.

We don't know anything about Eleanor's childlessness beyond the fact of it. We don't know if she had pregnancies that ended in miscarriage or stillbirth or whether she was unable to conceive. But the possible impact on her mental health tends not to be even considered, let alone mentioned. In fact, her attempted defence at her trial for witchcraft - that she had only used "magic" in attempt to conceive her husband's child - has been over-interpreted by some historians (e.g. Lauren Johnson, Robert Bartlett) as a type of threat or an admission of treason. She wanted to have a baby because her son would replace Henry VI and she'd be the ~mother of kings!

Which is just bizarre. There are many reasons she could have wanted a child - and note that she did not specifically state she wanted a son but a child - but both Johnson and Bartlett reduce her to the cold-hearted scheming vixen only wants a son so she can rule through him. Also, like, Eleanor was literally the only woman alive in 1441 who could provide the Lancastrian dynasty with a clear-cut heir.

We know the succession became a point of anxiety not too long after Eleanor's downfall and while we can't explicitly trace it back to Eleanor's time as Duchess of Gloucester, it does stand to reason that she would have been aware of how fragile the Lancastrian dynasty was. Henry VI was four years away from marrying himself and twelve years away from having his only son (which, of course, Eleanor couldn't have known about). He was the only child of his father and had no brothers who could inherit the throne, while all of his paternal uncles except Humphrey had died without legitimate issue by 1435. Humphrey himself had no legitimate children. The succession after Humphrey was confused, with at least three possible claimants. Eleanor, as Humphrey's wife, was likely very well aware of how fragile the succession was and was the only woman at that time who could give birth to an heir. Yes, any child might be Henry's "replacement" and she would become the mother of the next monarch but that's how a heredity monarchy works. Maybe people should read less of the Philippa Gregory-style of historical fiction.

And that's not going into the culture of primogeniture or the idea that a woman's worth as a wife was often closely tied to the production of an heir. There are studies that talk about the stigma of involuntarily childless on modern women today, who have the benefit of feminist movements and not living in a culture based explicitly and totally in primogeniture.

Nor does it go into the fact that that having a child could have had an legitimising affect on Eleanor's controversial marriage and status, providing her with security. Nor does it discuss the emotional affect of suffering miscarriages and stillbirths - admittedly, we don't know that Eleanor suffered from these but there doesn't seem to much evidence around miscarriages and stillbirths in late medieval England and so we can't rule out the possibility this was part of her experience.

It's all too easy, when we put aside the scheming vixen image, to imagine Eleanor's fear, distress, desperation and anxiety over her childlessness. Even if she was a scheming vixen, as Johnson and Bartlett would have it, it still would have had a large impact on her. It would have influenced the way she behaved - perhaps the motif of her disastrous pride and ambition came from an desire to emphasis her status as a way of taking refuge from her inability to have a child. Although I'm yet to find contemporary allegations that supports the not-uncommon idea Eleanor was greedy and grasping, perhaps she was in order to build up a stockpile of wealth that she could use to support herself if her marriage to Humphrey was annulled or her dower seized after his death. We might also consider that she turned to magic/witchcraft in desperation to have a child or at least in attempt to know what awaited her.

In Chapter 10, we follow the stories of our five main characters - Grayson, Duchess Ella, Grand Duchess Bria, Gianni, and Queen Diana.

{The Rest is Under the Cut}

Grayson - Serving as the SimDonian Ambassador in Selvadorado, Grayson finds himself in a predicament. The Selvadoradian Princess Royal, Katalina, has taken a liking to him and they’ve been “dating.” Moreso, she’s threatening his job if he doesn’t date her. She wants to make their relationship public, but Grayson doesn’t. They settle to tell her brother, The King. Instead of meeting with just The King, Katalina also arranges for Olivia, Grayson’s crush, to be there and learn of the relationship. Olivia, disappointed, speaks with her parents who encourage her to get to know the Crown Prince as that’s her father’s sole reason in sending her to Selva to study abroad. She gives in and goes out on a date with The Crown Prince, Eugenio. She learns that he is also wanting to pursue someone his family won’t approve of. They agree to be friends and go for the people they want. Meanwhile, Grayson and Katalina arrive at the same restaurant. Grayson and Olivia are able to sneak off and chat. They decide they can’t continue letting others decide their fate for them. When Katalina starts bringing up marriage, its the final straw for Grayson. He tells her off and decides to not only end the relationship, but end him time in Selva and his job so Katalina can no longer hold it over him. But first, he stops by to pick up Olivia and she leaves Selva with him back to SimDonia.

Ella - The junior school year has begun for Ella and her friends are thinking about college. Unfortunately for them (especially Eric), Ella is also focused on Luka once again. When it’s revealed the two are dating (again), Eric becomes angry. Eric isn’t the only one angry, we see the Karlee is still causing trouble for Ella in class. She confides in Luka who reveals he’s struggling in class. Ella invites him to study with her friends which he is unsure about them liking him after their history, but Ella convinces him. Victoria tries to see if Eric will open up to her about his suspected crush on Ella, but Eric doesn’t. They are interrupted by Ella and Luka looking to study. Eric leaves angrily. Unfortunately, Eric’s grandmother, a former Lady of Parliament, passes away. Ella and Emmitt attend the funeral. Eric’s mom appreciates their support. Ella goes to find Eric to console him and he is understandably upset. During their conversation, Eric ends up kissing Ella unexpectedly. He leaves embarrassed. Ella does not tell Luka about the kiss when they are talking in art class. She’s distracted as he discusses his family’s upcoming ski trip that he invited her on. At home, Bria calls a family meeting to discuss Grayson coming back home with Olivia. Ella decides to ask about the skiing trip. Bria reluctantly agrees after meeting with Luka’s parents first. The two attend and enjoy the ski trip. One night, Luka tells Ella he loves her and Ella says it back even though she is unsure about her feelings for him and Eric.

Bria - During a beach episode of The Style Report with Bria, Bria announces that she is hosting a model search show to find a new style reporter. Bria along with several guest judges, judge 5 contestants until they select a winner. During a fashion show at Creeksbrey Palace, it’s brought to Bria’s attention that two foreign travelers who are related to one of the contestants appeared in Umbrage without any travel documents. Bria hurriedly decides it’s best to let them leave since one of them is pregnant and she’s ready to get back to work. Later, Emmitt confronts Bria about the incident and not being consulted. Bria is defensive at first, but they come to an understanding as Emmitt sees Bria just wanted to help the travelers. They hope everything works out. Bria goes on with her busy life of juggling being a royal, mother, and running KBE. She visits the KBE warehouse to discuss the new collection and hype the workers. The Annual Report for KBE releases showing the brand’s success. On a wedding episode of The Style Report, Bria reveals her new collection and winner of The Model Search.

Gianni - Gianni is named as the President of Ravi Records taking over the position from his former boss, Fiona. Clearly the decision is due to nepotism and bleak sales. Gianni’s last roommate, his cousin Eva, weds and moves out of their home. Gianni buys his former childhood home and rings in his successes with a huge party. He awakes to women in his bed and congratulations texts from various people. Fiona has him blocked while Bella doesn’t respond. At work, Gianni learns the parent company his dad runs is being audited. Penelope who now works for Gianni threatens to quit due to their past and Gianni tries to convince her to stay by apologizing. Gianni and other workers due communtiy servicr at a homeless shelter for good pr during the audit process. He runs into Miki, his high school girlfriend, and her son. Gianni learns that Miki’s parents kicked her out when she told them she wouldn’t lie to him about the child’s paternity. She’s been struggling since. Gianni offers her and her son his home so they can get on their feet. Gianni tries to work late at home, but is disturbed by Miki’s son, Fletcher. Gianni tries to entertain him with music and tries to make him food. Fletcher talks a lot about his dad, who he’s never met, and asks Gianni about his dad. The questions get Gianni thinking about his relationship with his dad. In a meeting with company lawyers, it’s explained to Gianni that the best legal action to protect the company from the charges is to throw his dad under the bus and he has to decide on doing that or risking implicating the company. Gianni is torn and goes to his brother for advice. The boys argue as Grayson doesn’t take their dad’s side and reveals that their dad hasn’t been the best father to them by being selfish. He mentions that Gustavo didn’t seem to care when Grayson saw him cheating on their mom. Gianni starts reflecting on points his brother made about their dad and childhood. Gianni meets with his step mom to visit his dad, but she is distaught after her home was ransacked by investigators. She informs Gianni of her father committing identify theft against him and her young sons. She lets him know that she is taking the kids and leaving and suggest he do the same. Gianni visits his dad alone and is angry with him. He has made his decision and is not going to defend his dad. He takes over all the companies from his dad and decides to buy and expand the homeless shelter. He names it in his grandmother’s honor and hires Miki to run it. Miki introduced Gianni to her friend, Jennifer.

Diana - In her doctor’s office, Diana is not surprised to discover she is once again not pregnant. Her doctor urges Diana to prioritize her mental health and reduce stress. Diana has a daydream about her father’s mysterious death and remembers her mother not wanting to discuss his diagnosis in front of her. In a meeting about the Mayor’s Ball with Parliament, Diana has a panic attack when the National Pendites Association is mentioned. She meets with her therapist but is uncooperative because she doesn’t believe she needs therapy and can’t relieve her stress due to the nature of her job. Diana has a meeting with some of her advisors. They discuss the foreign travelers incident with Bria and its resolution. But, her monarchy advisor is pressed on Bria and her business’ needing to be reigned in and goes as far as to saying KBE should close. Diana goes to Elena and Gerhard for advice as having the conversation with Bria causes her a great deal of stress. She remembers a moment after her father’s death where Spencer confronts their mother, Margaret, about their father’s death and if it’s related to his and Elizabeth’s infertility. Margaret dismisses Diana. Diana meets with Bria and tells her she must step away from KBE. Bria is upset and feels she’s given up a lot. Both leave the conversation sad and stressed. Diana has a panic attack after another negative pregnancy test. She dreams about Parker and Gerhard standing over her grave. She meets with her therapist again and admits she needs help. Diana also mentions she is suspicious about her father’s death which her therapist is weary about. She mentions going on vacation to Simovia to relieve stress. Diana decides to meet with Spencer to talk about her father’s death and see what he remembers. Spencer is not happy to talk about a deep family secret that was hidden from her. He reveals that the entire Winston line is affected by a rare genetic disorder that attacks the body and is worse with stress. This explains infertility issues and why Spencer abdicated. Diana is hurt that her mother kept this from her and promises not to keep secrets from her son. She confronts her parents picture while getting ready for the Mayor’s ball. The Mayor’s ball goes well and Diana does her Queen thing. Soon, Diana, Gerhard and Parker, take a trip to their Simovia home to vacation. They spend a month there enjoying each other, visiting Gerhard’s family, and even attend church and pray. Back in SimDonia, Gerhard and Diana visit their doctor and learn they are finally pregnant.

Impatiently Patiently Waiting

This is my partner and I's first cycle really trying.

I've been using the Clearblue Ovulation tests and I'm starting to get nervous. I have had a flashing smiley for two days and it's driving me crazy. I mean I know I'm still fertile, but I am just waiting for that solid. I'm not sure if the ovulation testing is more nerve-wracking of it the two week wait is more nerve-wracking.

Here's hoping this is the cycle! Send lots of baby dust lovlies!

update: im gonna be on extended hiatus for a while!

#i found out last week that i have to go for six weeks of intensive radiotherapy every single day at the cancer hospital.. and then #i need to have more chemo. and i found out today that the chemo treatment could make me infertile which means i gotta make the decision of #whether or not i want kids RIGHT NOW bc i gotta go through hormone therapy and then an extra surgery . unless i decide against it which #means i run the risk of never being able to have children which isnt an issue for me rn bc a. im ill and b. i dont WANT kids im only 27 :// #but its such a huge decision :( i dont wanna make it :( and i want to be better already bc this illness is dragging on and on and on #im so sick and tired of being sick and tired fjdnfjs #anyway my radiotherapy is up in the air rn bc they dont know if im having proton beam therapy or not yet but #i'm really struggling mentally to cope with everything and tumblr is taking the least amount of priority so i'm on hiatus rn fjdnd #i'll fill up my queue!! or at least try to do that once a week or smth just so my blog doesnt die but ahh #please dont forget abt me while im gone im so sad i love u guys n i will miss u so much 😔💔 #rin.txt 💬
