like we were so fucking robbed of seeing perez in the wake of saw vs events I want to see her getting out of the hospital and flipping tables and pointing a gun in ericksons face after being told that strahm is the lead suspect. I want to see her having a breakdown after strahms fingerprints come back dead. I want to see her hand twitching over her gun everytime she sees hoffman. I want to see her fucking losing it and desperate to avenge her friend and partner and to clear his name. I want to see the thought process that lead to her inviting known serial killer mark hoffman to the basement lab just so she could torture him psychologically before she had a legitimate excuse to shoot him. I want to see more of her and I want to see how strahms death impacted her the way the reverse impacted him.

zoe and pete never interacted canonically and have probably never even met or heard of each other. but to me? best friends. inseparable. she’s so obsessed with him. opposite characters who are the same. they NEED to talk shit together at least once a day or they start having withdrawal symptoms. the type of bitches to side eye each other from across the room when they witness some fuck shit and they’re GONNA debrief about it later. he triggers her cuteness aggression and she tells him several times a day she wants to throw him at a brick wall and watch him splatter like an overripe tomato (affectionate) and he’s no longer fazed by it. he’s the only one who can destroy her at mario kart and she won’t be mad at him for it. he doesn’t feel annoying with her and can have an actual personality around her. she regularly calls him her soulmate and she’s only half joking. 4’11 5’11 unstoppable duo. absolutely everything. you understand this

I could write up an entire post on what I think the various MASH main cast would act like when high but I think there's also the infinitely funnier option that they all just go the fuck to sleep

alright, since the Remedy brainworms got me I've been replaying Control, got to the AWE expansion last night and picking up on all the echoes/foreshadowing for Alan Wake 2 is making me go utterly bonkers, but like. has anyone picked up on or talked about how in all of Alan's Hotline messages to Jesse, when he's writing about her POV, he exclusively calls her 'Faden'
like, maybe it didn't poke my brain the first time I played it since he does the same thing when talking about Hartman, but coming from AW2 it's pretty jarring as a stylistic oddity...almost like there's a reason (in-universe and/or out-of-universe) that he doesn't call her 'Jesse'...almost like there's only one Faden in his story...
and given how in AW2 we also get some (quasi-) clarification regarding the limits of Alan's ability to "make stuff up" vs alter and rewrite "real-world" events that he sees in clairvoyant flashes...given the Night Springs screenplay pages you can find in AWE that parallels the FBC and the events of Control (i.e. a Director and a Scientist opening a portal to another dimension, finding an eldritch Entity, the Director trying to take its power for himself and then getting taken over before shooting himself)...given how literally all of the "dreams" Dylan tells Jesse about are descriptions/viewings of stuff that takes place on one level of reality or another ("I was the director and you were an intern"; "we were in a game, and it was a fucking boring game but you couldn't stop playing it"; Mister Door, and "a world with a writer writing about a cop, and another world where the writer was real"; a "musical" about Jesse), except, seemingly, the dream about "Jesse Dylan Faden"...
guys. are you picking up what I'm putting down here. guys. GUYS

how long have you been posting the Same Picture of This Rock???
According to mass post editor, march 14th 2021. I took a break at one point due to mental heath, but it is crazy to think the blog is almost two years old at this point.
I started it after seeing "same picture of Stanley pines" from gravity falls, i think, and its outlasted so many things. the rock is truly one of the more stable things in my life now lmao.

Class Conflict in ACoFaF (& Wuuvy)
I doubt this narrative will actually go anywhere in ACoFaF but interestingly, just like the Austin novels the season is based around, there is a larger conflict than just the injustice of the Court system at play here and that is the injustice of classism. However the Court system is vilified because it stands as an Obstacle to our Heroes desires for expression and romances, whereas the class system is taken for granted and played for laughs. This is not a critique of Aabria or the season just as an interesting thing that is mirrored from the original genre and I think really shows in how the audience comes to see Wuuvy.
Some Courts hoarding power in the form of Magic is the evil meant to be defeated at the end of the story. It clearly hurts our Heroes by cutting them off from loved ones and eliminating the members of Binx’s court. It also stands as a mirror to the hoarding of Love that all of the heroes struggle with. That their respective Courts or families withhold love based on preconditions of behavior or achievement or assimilation (Binx being the exception of course).
But the actual unfairness of the system they exist in goes largely unaddressed. From the salt goblins who are expected to live their whole tiny lives in service to their superiors and die on command, to the servants Lord Airavis polymorphs and maims for laughs, to Gobble begging for his life while forced to dance, even to Andhera’s dog who is sentient, all (with the notable exception of Binx who goes out of her way to respect servants from Andhera’s dog to Lady Featherfowl’s penguin messenger) enjoy their time at the expense of those below them. This includes Rue, who uses a Command spell on Wuuvy who up to that point happily obeyed their commands and never truly apologizes or addressed the gulf between them. This is a defining moment for Wuuvy. She was happy to serve as a friend and equal and although she continues her devotion to Rue, from that point on she must understand that Rue does not see her as quite such an equal.
But we are not especially meant to feel sympathy for the lower class characters. They are either set pieces or worse, Obstacles and Antagonists for our Heroes to overcome. Wuuvy not delivering the letter to Hob is naturally seen in a villainous light because the story is about the Romance between our Heroes. However isn’t it incredibly fair for Wuuvy to lash out in the only ways that she is able. The line between her and Hob is incredible thin. Both are military leaders of lower station who see Rue’s hidden conflict and admire them ardently. They are both beastly and duty bound. Yet Rue is enamored with Hob after meeting him once and sees Wuuvy only as a friend (or servant) despite (or because of) knowing her for decades. Wuuvy demands satisfaction and does not deliver the letter not because she thinks it will make Rue change their mind or fall in love with her instead, but she has simply had too much indignity to bear. She will not deliver up her own hopes and dreams to another with a smile on her face. That is a step too far. Yet in the end it is Rue’s feeling of betrayal that the story will follow and not Wuuvy’s revelation that she could spend her life knowing every little detail about a person and they could still not understand the most important truths about her.
Again this is not a criticism of the show, and it would be phenomenal if in fact this did arise as an canonical plotline/issue, it just fascinates me that the same phenomenon I find in Austen novels replicates itself here. Characters may actively talk about the oppression of their own station (Elizabeth in P&P or Hob in the show) and yet still happily take part in enforcing the class system. They will be allowed to rise above their own station for the sake of Romance but the stations themselves will remain.

Show! Me! The blorbo!
god damn you people work fast
alright but if i get bullied for it i'm lighting up the nearest cracker barrel stg
this fucker.
i'm pretty sure he only shows up in like 4 episodes and yet each time i see him my brain does something between a "." and a "!" like. "man acknowledged." watching this man is like watching a beetle or perhaps a moth. i know nothing of who he is or his thoughts. i know not why he's only here for a short time or why they use him so often for that short time. I don't even remember his name. I just know my neurons fire up when observing him in this show to a point where I may turn my attention from what I am doing while the show is on the background to watch He.
This is the epitome of Just Some Guy. This is white bread with barely any butter. This is a plain white tshirt but with a pocket on the front. This is a guy you see in a starbucks and find yourself staring at as you wait in line, wondering who he is and what kind of life he lives. This is a guy you match with on Tinder and you have to take a good 10 to 15 seconds to wonder if he's actually cute or if he simply looks inoffensive enough that the absence of any negative reaction counts as positive in your mind. He is basic and plain and simple and for some fucking reason his pure neutrality in and of itself captivates me.
I cannot tell for the life of me if my fascination with this guy is romantic, platonic, purely intellectual, or what. I think it may transcend that tbh. I think this feeling is the epitome of passing human connection. It's bumping into a stranger, having a pleasant 3 word interaction, and forever wondering if you could have kept the conversation going, longing to know what potential for friendship or closeness could have been realized, but knowing you will never get that chance again, and a stranger they will remain. It's looking at someone and wanting to know what the fuck their deal is, what actions they have taken in their life to come to your field of vision, directly in line with your ever curious, burning gaze. He's only been in so many episodes, but he is just so fucking normal that it's almost familiar, comforting to see him. It's like a brand of mac n cheese you've never tried that you know is going to taste the exact same as all the others. It's reading coffee shop au fanfic and basking in the simplicity. It's like a blanket at a hotel that's somehow just as warm and fluffy as one you keep at home. Familiar in that which you've never seen before. Basking in the few constants of the chaotic universe we live in. For me it just so happens to be dorky glasses wearing blonde twinks that are a dash of fruity.
either that or this would be normal blorbo territory for me save for the fact that i just finished watching neon genesis evangelion and it has been Affecting How I Perceive Characters.
