God I love how MCR titles their songs. Like on the one hand you have the Revenge-era style of really long, wordy, evocative titles that don’t reference any specific lyrics but capture the vibes perfectly - “It’s Not a Fashion Statement, it’s a Fucking Deathwish,” “The Jetset Life is Gonna Kill You,” “You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us in Prison” - and on the other end of the spectrum you’ve got fuckign. “Gun.”

You know, my favorite MCR song is “It’s Not a Fashion Statement, It’s a Deathwish”.  I’ve loved that song since I was 13, for 18 years of my life. I can sing it by heart, I thought I knew every word. My favorite lyric was always:

“If living was the hardest part, Well then the dead beg to differ!”

But it turns out that’s NOT EVEN WHAT HE’S FUCKING SAYING?? He actually says

“If living was the hardest part We'll then one day be together”

My brain just sort of filled in the blanks to try and match the emotion of Gerard Way’s voice, and it’s been doing it for so long that I never even questioned it.
