Various circumstances over the last 10 years have made me question over and over again whether you (the protestor) should resort to force in a protest situation or not. Here in Bristol, we spent 10+ YEARS trying in peaceful ways to get an extremely offensive statue taken down in center of town, that pm no one wanted there.

In the end, it was taken down by force during a BLM protest (and thrown in the river lol) It mightve looked on the outside like a sudden burst of anger, but my sister had been to talks with the council like 5 years before about taking that statue down, and nothing was done. I'd signed several (generally successful) petitions over the span of 6 years, and nothing was done. That was anger built up over years of nothing being done, and was obviously a symbol of much more significant issues that are consistently ignored. How are ppl supposed to react when NOTHING CHANGES?

But now that incident is used in various ways against the public. It probably contributed towards the new extremely vague laws that are stamping down on protests as a whole. So I go over the question over and over. I genuinely dont know what the answer is.
