Sure, my face hasn’t seen much sun over the past couple of months. No, there’s no beach getaway in my future (things could be worse). But thanks to one of my new favorite brands, @Tower28Beauty, I can at least grace my skin with a sunkissed glow any time I need it! - By now you’ve likely seen their latest launch, the Bronzino Illuminating Bronzers (and hopefully were able to snag one before they repeatedly sold out). I mentioned in a recent post that after years of being unable to find a bronzer that works with my skin tone I managed to find 2 this Spring. Well beauties, this is one of them! It comes in 2 shades: Best Coast, a deep bronze with red undertones (doesn’t suit me as a bronzer, but so gorgeous on lips, lids and cheeks) and West Coast, a medium bronze with neutral undertones that’s perfection! The balm texture allows you to blend it in seamlessly for a really natural finish that’s totally buildable, and has mineral pigments that give my skin the perfect hint of illumination (without the sparkle or greasy shine). It’s quite pigmented, so you only need a little, but it’s also very user-friendly and has great staying power. This skin-loving formula contains Mango Butter and Green Tea Extract to nourish and soothe making it a great option for even the most sensitive skin types. At $20 for 4.5oz these bronzers are prestige quality at a pretty accessible price point. Plus, the minimal packaging is super cute! - I’ll admit that I wasn’t sure initially what to think about @Tower28Beauty (can something so simple really be that exciting?), but I’ll be the first to say that I’ve been blown away at the performance and formulations of all the products that I’ve tried from them so far! Like above and beyond my expectations. Next up on my “must have” list is their BeachPlease Tinted Lip + Cheek Balm in Magic Hour (a sun-kissed rosy nude that calls to me) and SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray (skin that needs help? yes, please!). It's okay to be sensitive - this is something I say to my class but I wish it could be said to everyone from a really young age. For many, to be sensitive is to be weak, soft, unable to cope. It isn't. Sensitivity enables us to be in touch with our emotions and allows us to share them with others. Sensitivity helps us make sense of the world. Sensitivity makes us human. Bottling everything up inside and putting on a brave face can be so damaging and its effects can be seen worldwide. It's hard though, especially when a large percentage of our media and society perpetuate negative perceptions of sensitive people. As a woman of colour, I often get called too sensitive (and also too aggressive) if I speak out about something or state that something is offensive. That reaction always makes me feel like I should shut my mouth - but I continue to raise my voice. Just remember: it's okay to cry, it's okay to be upset, it's okay to be angry, it's okay to speak out and it's okay to share your emotions.
