Dirty Water.

The river flows powerfully, thickened by the recent heavy rainfall.

The crouched jaguar drinks from its banks without worry. He hasn’t any nervousness about the water, and he never will. It is simply the way of jaguars.

The air smells strongly of wet earth. His paws sink slightly into the muddy ground as he stands and steps leisurely past some driftwood that hadn’t been there the day before. He visits this particular bank often; he would know. The jungle seems to be growing smaller, inch by inch, as time slowly rolls along. There are no longer many places to stop and drink—to drink clean water that is. There are certain spots that have gotten him sick. He remembers that as a cub, prior to leaving his mother and litter-mates behind, their mother had regaled them with a tale that there used to be no such thing as “dirty water,” before the humans started poisoning it all. It was a story passed onto her by her own mother, and so on, so forth. He’d gotten the impression that humans had been doing this for a very long time. He didn’t and still doesn’t know what to do about it, so...he lives with it.

Perhaps he ought to be wise and leave this region, search for better pastures. He knows his two sisters did just that. Their mother had been elderly when she had the three of them, her last batch of offspring, and when she’d grown ill and passed on, he was obstinate that he’d stay in the area of his raising. Sometimes, he entertains the idea that he loves this one river, and it loves him in return. It may be foolish. The older he becomes, the more apparent that fact is. His mother only dwelt here because she couldn’t reasonably defend a far better territory any longer. The river is not truly a creature, not the same way he is. There is no way of knowing how it may feel or not feel about him.

Some Infodumping Abt my Theriotype

Hi! For those of you who don't know already, I identify as a werejaguar therian, and I say that because my theriotype has two different forms. A more typical anthro-ish form, and an actual feral animal that walks on all fours. So my theriotype can go from were-creature, to full animal at will. This is also why my pfp shows a more feral jaguar rather than a humanoid one. But yea I just felt like I needed to explain this! (Despite the fact that at the time of me writing this I have little to no following lawl-)
