The Yakshas [Buddhist mythology; Hindu mythology]
A Yaksha (called Yaksa in Sanskrit) is the male counterpart of the female Yakshini, both from Buddhist and Hindu mythology. Much like the Yakshinis, a Yaksha can be good or evil in nature. They are nature spirits and can be associated with water, forests, fertility, mountains, trees, or as symbols of nature in general. A Yaksha can change its form at will according to the Jainistic canon. In Thailand, most contemporary art depicts them with a signature mace, helmet and intricately detailed armor. There are many statues of Yaksha like that in Thailand, and the first image I used here also resembles those versions. But it would be incorrect to say that this is the only or definitive look of the Yakshas.
These beings play a significant role in the old Hindu Puranas and Epics, as well as in the Buddhist Yakatas and Jainistic stories. Though they are powerful in their own right, they ultimately answer to Kubera (Kuvera in Sanskrit), king of the Yaksas in Hinduism.
Benevolent Yakshas are kind-hearted nature spirits, but evil Yakshas haunt specific places in the wilderness and are known to ambush and devour innocent travelers. In Buddhist folklore, the Yakshas are the servants of Vaisravana, one of the Four Heavenly Kings, who protects the good and righteous. In Thailand, these beings are commonly depicted as gate guardians of temples. These versions are often portrayed with large fangs and a green skin, sometimes wielding a mace or other weapon, presumably to smash unwanted intruders to a pulp.
While the term ‘Yaksha’ refers to a specific kind of creature, the word is sometimes used for supernatural beings in general, referring to creatures like Rakshasas and Pisakas. In the Meghaduta, Kalidasa’s poem, Yaksas are treated like erotic spirits and symbols of romantic love. Though it is worth noting that these creatures had been symbols of fertility long before that.
In Jainism, when a Yaksha reaches the end of his lifespan, he descends onto the world of mortals and is reborn as a human.
In the Atharva Veda, it is mentioned that the (or a) great Yaka sits in the center of the water in the exact middle of the world. He is deeply concentrating, and the gods are around him, “like the branches of a tree”. This illustrates their deep affinity for water, for they have always been water spirits next to their connection with plants, fertility etc. This is also why many icons depict them with lotus flowers on water.
They can also grant boons to mortals, sometimes in the form of powerful magic items. For example, in the Kathasaritsagara, a woodcutter living in poverty meets four Yaksas who are dressed in luxurious, expensive clothing. Taking pity on the mortal, they give him a magical inexhaustible pitcher, along with the warning that he should never break it. The man celebrates and becomes drunk, but he smashes the bowl to pieces in a fit of drunken stupor, and the pitcher magically repairs itself before instantly returning to the four Yaksas, leaving the woodcutter with nothing.

Unlocking the Sacred Significance of 108 in Eastern Spiritual Traditions
Introduction
The number 108 holds a profound and sacred significance in various Eastern spiritual paths, including Buddhism, Jainism, and Hinduism. This mystical number weaves through yogic and dharmic practices, symbolizing spiritual completion and connecting individuals to their place in the cosmic order.
Our Place in the Dharma
In Buddhism, the number 108 serves as a key to understanding our place in the dharma, the cosmic order. Representing the human form as a five-pointed star within a circle, each angle embodies 108ᵒ. This symbolism extends to the intricate design of the heart chakra, composed of 108 lines of energy (nadis) and 108 pressure points (marmas). Notably, 108ᵒF represents the critical temperature at which vital organs can overheat, highlighting the delicate balance within our physical selves.
On a cosmic scale, the relationship between the sun and Earth is encapsulated in the number 108. The distance between the two is precisely 108 times the diameter of the sun. This cosmic alignment reinforces the idea that 108 connects us not only to ourselves but also to the vast universe that surrounds us.
108 Reflected in Spiritual Practices
The significance of 108 is mirrored in religious practices and sacred spaces around the world. Architectural wonders such as the High Temple of Lamanai in Belize and the Tikal funerary temple in Guatemala both stand at 108 feet, symbolizing a connection between the earthly and the divine. Many Buddhist temples feature 108 steps, while in Japanese Zen temples, a bell tolls 108 times as the year draws to a close, echoing the cyclical nature of time and existence.
In Tibetan Buddhism, the concept of 108 delusions underscores the human struggle with internal obstacles. Similarly, Hindu deities are adorned with 108 names, and Jainists embrace 108 virtues as part of their spiritual teachings. These practices serve as reminders of our intricate connection to the world around us and the spiritual journey we undertake.
The Untraceable Origin of 108
The origins of the significance of 108 cannot be attributed to a singular source. Yet, this mystery adds to its power. It transcends human understanding, connecting practitioners to their place in the dharma on a profound level that goes beyond rationalization. The enigmatic nature of 108 underscores its universal and timeless relevance in guiding individuals on their spiritual journeys, reminding them of their connection to themselves and the greater cosmos.

INCREDIBLE INDIA
We arrive at the territory of 1,000 languages along with 1,000 gods. In the Intercontinental, the ladies in my personal collection are well versed with marigolds and branded with all a standard red dot onto our foreheads. This lodge is an oasis of luxurious at a polluted metropolis of 14 million folks. Two times have been spent traveling Delhi. The sites comprise Gandhi's Tomb and lots of UNESCO World Heritage Web Sites. Wherever else have historic customs combined together using the present in the scale therefore clear as in Delhi. Extra fat sacred Brahma bulls block site visitors creating flaws. Within this land, cows guideline. Canines, monkeys, and kiddies cross their risk.
I really like spiced foodstuff and commence each evening with a3 alarm-curry breakfast. We mind through trainer for Rajasthan, the gorgeous desert country by which cattle are substituted with camels. The atmosphere will be sweeter and that which more vivid. Here's really a microcosm of everything India is. Many folks are refined having a stunt in the event soul and light at the sight of thieves. We always tide by way of our chimney to people that struggle with fascination and appear to mention "why should you ever come ?" Like being a lover of this 3rd universe, this spot was around my own fantasy record for ages. I vividly enter that area of traveling providing you with me astonishment.
We have begun to wait for the yearly Camel honest at Pushkar that's occurred for one million decades past Whilst the entire world's most significant, it's in its summit attracted 50,000 camels by 200,000 dealers. We all unpack at our camp identified as unique Adventures. Our spartan tents didn't en suite baths but bathroom paper has been in a top. That has been a 2-4 hour shield out who stingily rationed his or her quota. From the summer, nighttime is freezing and afternoons sweltering. I confided into some guests in your American Embassy I felt as though that I had been at an episode of"Survivor." She whined reassuring me it had been worth every penny. So on my jolt turns out into amazement since I input fairgrounds.
Place on kilometers of sand slopes using festooned camels plus also a flood of pilgrims, the spectacle appears utterly forgettable. It's such as a Condition Fair On-steroids. Wrapped in the dust, and people come back. Every single night there's entertainment underneath the celebrities together with musicians, folk dancers, puppet present or flame fighters. No alcoholic beverages are authorized and all foods are vegetarian buffets. An Ayurveda middle delivers us treatment options to cleansing toxins. We reduce these induced throwing up, enemas, nasal drainage along with blood-letting.
We see the sacred town of Pushkar having its own sacred lake made by Lord Brahma. Pilgrims appear from afar to wash at the ghats and snore round-the-clock. We know about religions: Zorastrism,'' Sikhism, the mysterious Sufi's, Jainists who won't eliminate a mosquito, Hinduism that asserts no total accuracy and also the caste system. We see temples in the lake; a few really are"blessed" by priests. Later on, a highlight for me personally was 1 hour Camel Cart Safari supporting the scenes of this honest. Kiddies line our path yelling to us"Hello, 1 pencil remember to!" We view a slaughtered and half of nude folks washing daily. Straight back within the reasons we see an orphanage and scatter separately for lost from the frenzied revelry. We trip enormous spitting camels offering us an increased view of this all. I buy twelve garnet silver and necklaces ankle bracelets. Teen boys tactic Terry to picture him. He has 6'5'". One as him"Sir, what would you consume?"
Our collection proved to be all wonderful!
You will find infinite food however we ought to pass enticements to protect against"Delhi stomach." I detect that the cacophony of insanity lovely. Pushkar is quite an event affair for those sailors and also we have been an only captioning company. I am really so thankful to undergo this a while and energy to move with all our hectic trip.
We arrive at the famous"Pink City" of Jaipur, today a more profound maroon from contamination. Additionally vacationing its own palaces, architectural and fort marvels, we know of those amazing Amber rulers and maharajahs of this Moghul empire. Heritage will come alive and now also I locate myself interested because I cared for. And here's really a shopper's heaven for silk sarees, stone, marble, and jewelry crafts. With the invasion of India by Mahmud Ghazni about 1000 A.D., began the Muslim invasions into the Indian subcontinent and they lasted for several centuries. Nadir Shah made a mountain of the skulls of the Hindus he killed in Delhi alone. Babur raised towers of Hindu skulls at Khanua when he defeated Rana Sanga in 1527 and later he repeated the same horrors after capturing the fort of Chanderi. Akbar ordered a general massacre of 30,000 Rajputs after he captured Chithorgarh in 1568. The Bahamani Sultans had an annual agenda of killing a minimum of 100,000 Hindus every year.
The history of medieval India is full of such instances. The holocaust of the Hindus in India continued for 800 years, till the brutal regimes were effectively overpowered in a life and death struggle by the Sikhs in the Panjab and the Hindu Maratha armies in other parts of India in the late 1700’s.
We have elaborate literary evidence of the World’s biggest holocaust from existing historical contemporary eyewitness accounts. The historians and biographers of the invading armies and subsequent rulers of India have left quite detailed records of the atrocities they committed in their day-to-day encounters with India’s Hindus.
These contemporary records boasted about and glorified the crimes that were committed – and the genocide of tens of millions of Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhist and Jainist, mass rapes of women and the destruction of thousands of ancient Hindu / Buddhist temples and libraries have been well documented and provide solid proof of the World’s biggest holocaust.

A Brief Introduction To Jainism
Tumblr media
As per Jainists, all living entities have souls, encompassing animals, plants, and even microorganisms, and that each soul does have potential to liberate itself from all karmas and attain moksha or nirvana. Jain philosophy Jain philosophy suggests that the sources of suffering throughout this existence are karmas, which are the inevitable repercussions of correct or incorrect terms, thoughts, and deeds, not so much as a penalty or judgement. Thus according to Jain doctrine, Jainism has indeed existed and therefore will remain that way indefinitely. Because there is no sole creator as per Jain philosophy, Jains don't really worship a single entity, rather admiring and seeking to be more like a freed spirit who has gained nirvana. You can visit Jain temples to get familiar with what Jain worship looks like. What swastika means in Jainism In Jainism, the word Swastika has a unique meaning. The 4 dots show supernatural beings, persons, beasts, plants, and so forth, and also demonic entities, which signify the four different gatis or stages of existence. Any spirit will travel through certain stages between birth and death, and they've all been transient states of being. What do Jains eat? Jains follow a strict food rule. They are adamant vegetarians, and many of them will not consume root vegetables, honey, mushrooms, or unfiltered water. Despite the fact that milk products are permitted, some Jains chose veganism due to modern industrial farming practices. Rituals are commonly performed in a Jain mandir. For numerous rites, Jains dress in three clean clothing and enter temples with words of respect for Tirthankara. Jain Puja is another name for Jain worship.

Seven Reasons to Visit Udaipur in the Rajasthan of India
The topic speaks of Udaipur as a “Venice of the East.” And by saving cultural distances and bypassing the lazy generalization of such comparisons, the qualifier can be used to describe this city in northern India. However, it is undoubtedly one of the most bewitching cities on the planet. Who visited it, knows it.
The sagacious traveler will discover in Udaipur an idyllic place of fascinating Rajasthan that seems more like a dream or a mirage than a real place: palaces of the Thousand and One Nights and temples whose silhouettes are reflected in the waters of lakes at the foot of green hills, bazaars Fascinating, sumptuous hotels in historic buildings that welcomed the proud Rajput nobility : a potion of seductive ingredients that well-shaken make up the most romantic cocktail you can taste in North India.
There are seven reasons why Udaipur deserves a visit.
Udaipur, the city of the sun on the shores of Lake Pichola.
1. The City Palace.
This complex of Versailles dimensions, composed of four sumptuously ornate palaces, evokes the glory days of the Sisodya dynasty (one of the oldest in the world, dating back to the 6th century) of the Mewar principality. A legendary era in which Udaipur was its capital, as proud and indomitable as opulent, cultured and sensitive to the arts. The sunset from the Sunset View Terrace is a mandatory appointment.
2. The Lake Palace of Udaipur.
The Lake Palace or Jag Niwas, built about 250 years ago on the shores of Lake Pichola, is a dazzling white marble palace originally designed as a summer residence for the privileged prince, Jag Singh. Today it houses the luxurious floating hotel Taj Lake Palace.

3. Bazaars.
Udaipur, like Jodhpur and Jaipur, hosts fascinating bazaars in which you can admire and acquire artisanal objects of all kinds that have an ancient tradition and sometimes reach the category of small works of art. In the surroundings of the Jagdish temple, in the bapures of Bapu and Bara, you can buy replicas of the Mewar school miniatures, silver jewelry, enamels, lacquers, fabrics and embroidery … a feast for the senses.
4. The Oberoi Udaivilas.
The Indian chain Oberoi is synonymous with luxury in spectacular locations. The Udaivilas meets the formula here since 2002 to compete with the onerous and famous Taj Lake Palace for attracting the high-standing customer: luxury service, architecture and ornamentation with Rajput and mogul inspiration, lush gardens and fountains …; and all on the shores of Lake Pichola. A classic in the lists of the best hotels in the world.
5. Heritage Hotels.
One of the pleasures of visiting India, especially when touring the Rajasthan, is to stay in one of its suggestive hotel-palaces. They are called “heritage”, hotel establishments in buildings of historical heritage. The Fateh Prakash in a good option in Udaipur, in the same palace complex of the City Palace.
6. Jagdish Send.
This temple, which is part of the City Palace complex, is the largest of the city’s Hindu creed temples and has a great artistic quality. Dozens of ascetics and Hindu shrines usually sit on their stairs, an emblematic image of India.
7. Ranakpur.
These Jain temples represent one of the greatest artistic treasures of Rajasthan. The complex was built with stone and marble in the fifteenth century about 100 km north of Udaipur. The temple of Adinath is one of the five sacred places of the Jainists, probably the largest and most complex temple in India (more than 4000 m² in area) and is considered a masterpiece of world art.

My notes from Jainist religion feat. the ceiling of a jainist temple in Mumbai and a very antique representation of Mahavira, the last enlightened and founder of this religion. (If some Jainist is reading this feel free to correct me) they have forbidden to lie, to kill under any circumstances and to be attached to material things. Really interesting people.
