Current WIPs/Current Ideas/Random Update

So there's a lot going on in my brain right now and I dont want to be the asshole who posts a poll after every single time I post a fic, but it has worked for me thus far. And if you know me - I have always had more fic ideas than I have had the ability to make decisions. Even before Tumblr got polls, I used to post polls all the time to help decide my next fic. It works well for me

However, I am conflicted about doing another poll because of the inherent bias of the Criminal Minds fandom.

90% of you guys are Spencer lovers, and if I put an Emily fic on the poll, I feel like it will get outvoted no matter what. But I could also be wrong about that - people could be thirsting for an Emily fic because she is lacking attention and vote it up for that reason. But I just hate the idea of people picking based on the character and not their interest in the concept/what would be written about that character

That being said, here's what we're working with:

I am actively working on the Dad Spencer fic (Dirty Laundry - I am slightly tempted to change the title? Idk). I have the beginning finished, and I would say I am about 20% done overall, which is good considering that it's going to be a longer fic. But I really want to work on something else while I am working on it

I love working on shorter smut fics while working on a long emotional fic

And here are my ideas for that:

A Spencelle x (Fem)Reader smut. (I usually default to Fem reader, but if more people want to see a GN reader fic, then I would definitely do that too.) - I had so much fun writing The Perfect Brat and I fucking love the Spenelle dynamic - I feel like it's absolutely something that I need to revisit again. I have a mental image of Spencer tied to a chair with Elle and the reader taunting him and I feel like I need to bring it to life.

The Spencer Cane Smut that was mentioned in the last poll. I compared this to my Abby fic Love From The Other Side (aka the Golf Club fic) - where Abby fucks the reader's pussy with the golf club that she used to kill Joel. Because this fic would be Spencer fucking the reader with his cane. Because the idea wormed into my brain and I need to get it out at some point 😂

I would also love to write more smut for Emily or JJ (maybe both at the same time 👀 Jemily x reader would be so iconic). I do have some drafts for them, which I could post summaries of so people could pick based on those? Idk.

My only issue with putting these ideas into a poll is that Spencer is a grossly popular character, and I feel like putting anything with him in a poll automatically skews the results. And while I love writing for him, I would like the chance to write for some of the other characters who don't get as much attention in fanfiction. So idk what to do

I am also heavily considering opening general requests for shorter things like headcanons/MLTs/reactions. But idk

Why I like them: She's everything to me!!!! She's kind, strong, empathetic, emotionally intelligent, totally badass, and unbelievably hot. She's my wife and I love her. She's perfect. 10/10 no notes.

Why I don’t: I do not have an answer for this. I literally cannot think of a single reason not to like her!

Favorite episode (scene if movie): Ugh, it's impossible to pick just one! Either Mirror Image or False Flag.

Favorite season/movie: 13. It's a great season for her, and a great season for Temily.

Favorite line: When she refers to herself as "the woman behind the woman (Emily)." I take this as proof that Temily is canon.

Favorite outfit: GREEN DRESS 🥵

Head Canon: She's a dog person, but has never actually owned a dog.

Unpopular opinion: This fandom's constant sidelining of Tara is deeply rooted in racism and misogyny. The only reason she's not as popular as other characters is because she's a Black woman.

A wish: I wish the fandom would stop treating her like a minor character!

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: Her leaving the show

For Emily:

Why I like them: Lesbian with mommy issues who just wants to be accepted and loved. She's just like me fr! Also her growth as a character from season 2 to season 16 is absolutely beautiful to watch.

Why I don’t: I don't like fanon Emily. She's nothing like canon Emily.

Favorite episode (scene if movie): Demonology!!!!!!!

Favorite season/movie: Hmmm I might have to go with 16 because I love gray haired Section Chief Prentiss! I hate so, so much of Evolution, but for Emily purposes, it's an absolute masterpiece.

Favorite line: I have many, but "I've got a Glock leveled at your crotch" certainly stands out!

Favorite outfit: Cargo pants. Iconic lesbian wear.

OTP: Temily!!!!!!!

Head Canon: Her parents divorced when she was in college, and even though she's not close with either of her parents, she has more of a relationship with her mother than with her father.

Unpopular opinion: Almost nobody in this fandom understands her or interprets her correctly. She is NOT a bumbling incompetent. She is NOT chaos personified. She is NOT comic relief. She would also never talk like a Gen Z TikToker. She's a middle-aged federal employee who excels at her job and has close, caring, mature relationships with the people she works with.

A wish: I wish people would stop butchering her character. This includes wishing they would stop shipping her with men.

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: Hotchniss. Really any het Emily ship, but especially that one. It's an abomination.

My nickname for them: Other wifey💕

For JJ:

Why I like them: She's a deep, complex character with so much room for fandom exploration. Also pretty lady make lesbian brain go brrrr 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

Why I don’t: I don't really like the direction her character took in later seasons, when she came back as a profiler. I love media liaison JJ, and I love Evolution JJ, but in seasons 7-15, she just doesn't do it for me like other CM women do.

Favorite episode (scene if movie): Hmmm probably North Mammon?

Favorite season/movie: 5 was a good look for her! I liked the bangs.

Favorite line: "It's not people, it's men."

Favorite outfit: Her Evolution crop top and leggings combo 🥵

OTP: I honestly don't know that I have one? I love Jemily and Jara, but I think Temily is endgame.

Brotp: JJ and Morgan!

Head Canon: If Henry had been a girl, JJ would have named her Rose, after Rosaline.

Unpopular opinion: Reid stans are way too hard on JJ, to the point of being misogynistic about their dislike of her character.

A wish: I wish the Jeid confession had never happened!

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: Will becoming a main character on CM.

10. How many unfinished works are in your drafts?

lol. i believe… nine? i have a lot of very messy half-done documents which are sort of schrödinger’s fic: might be their own idea, might be nothing at all, but if i don’t open them then they’re in this beautiful quantum state where they are simultaneously both nascent and fully realized, and thus not my problem. what i am SURE i have is… final chapter of the jemily longfic pensato, next chapter of the sotl fic, next chapter of the jormily fic i’m writing based on the idea i stole from you (XOXO THANK YOU), final chapter of the bering & wells fic about victorian sex aids, and then 5 things i may or may not ever finish— two lil jemily moments, one bering & wells thing that would require me to read more philosophy than i currently have time to, a very brief sketch for something tara/rebecca, and this like long annoying season 7 aftermath of it takes a village thing which is just thinking about the senses and how they work as proof of life and existence. but i am an ICON and BEACON of self awareness and i will keep that last one to myself

29. Best writing advice for other writers?

okay this is a half answer because it’s not something that i took as advice but it’s something that like, i saw that totally spoke to my particular sensibilities (minus the bit at the end— i don’t aspire to be a novelist or an artist or whatever) about what advice for writers is for, which is ostensibly for growth and craft and practice. this is from the paris review

(presumably another part of the formula for being a good novelist is to dismiss math as fake lol.) like i’d say i’m naturally quite a dissatisfaction chaser insofar as i’m always looking for a problem to have. it’s a half-answer because this is something i really take as like, more Truth than Advice (excepting the part, humorously, which is phrased as truth rather than advice, because i think those kinds of theories of the artist are dumb), but it’s best to me lol.
