If I had a nickel for every time Stephen King wrote a book about somebody being chained to a bed by somebody else and having to face their darkest fears on top of questioning their identity I would have ten cents. Which isn’t a lot but you know what they say

Wrong Turn: Retribution, available now on fanfiction (x) and Wattpad (x)
Summary: Following on from the events of Bear Mt. Rd, Jessie and Chris are trying their best to move on and leave the terrors of their encounters with the cannibalistic killers in the past. That is until they learn that 'three fingers' is still alive and on the hunt, so they prepare for one more trip deep into the woods, willing to do anything to stop the cannibal's horrific reign of terror.

tw: mentions of large age gaps/abuse
ive been trying to decide how old Jessie is when the events of Gerald’s Game take place because it’s not really discussed? it’s heavily implied that she’s much much younger than Gerald and she was born in 1971 but there’s no mentions of what year the book takes place. so, i took some liberties and based on when the book was published have decided that the events of the book/movie take place in 1992, making Jessie only twenty-one years old.
this gave birth to a whole bunch of other thoughts like how unbalanced the power dynamic between her and Gerald must’ve been. not only was she dealing with years of unhealed trauma from her father but now this much, much older man waltzes into her life and essentially treats her in the exact same manner that her father did. she left home to get away from one abuser and ran straight into the arms of another and that knowledge breaks my heart literally everyday.

Iced Coffee Dates – Callie/Jessie Burlingame
A/N: Day 10 for @flufftober 's Fluffspring 2024. GIFs made for me by @whoreofthecottage
Callie seeks her out at the local coffee shop three months into their relationship. Both work now, Jessie with kids who have been through the same thing she went through and Callie with people who had lost family to mysterious circumstances. The dates become a regular thing quickly, every other Thursday, alternated with Tuesdays. Both women find their lives are happier now, working and meeting and letting themselves be content with their lives, not pushing for anything more. Both women knew, of course, that this was temporary, soon enough Callie will stop working, choosing to spend time working on their new home in the woods, preparing it for them both to move in, away from everything where they can relax in peace.

love the subtext of Jessie knowing so much about blood, and wrists, and how long she can survive. Gerald's double even asks why she knows so much about slitting her wrists and veins, though his question goes ignored. It's clear Jessie dealt with her trauma in her own unhealthy ways without outright stating she's been suicidal or is familiar with self harming. Jessie's own double is basically her perseverance personified
