as much as I love rosemary, people will use the symbolism of Kanaya's lusus dying as well as Mom Lalonde to make out like this is the ONLY INSTANCE of two characters bonding over parental death.

they both independently decided to get flowers for each other. rose was gonna give a single red rose and a poem related to it in like a symbolic type romantic gesture that is largely really embarrassing and kind of cringy but she got really worked up & embarrassed and got to their date spot early to prepare. and then john shows up a little late because he had to pick up the custom bouquet he got for her and half considered just not showing up bc ughhh what if she doesnt like it & what if its so embarrassing i die. & when john shows up rose immediately tries to hide her flower as he gives her his bouquet. and rose is thinking "oh so this is a competition now. i see." after the initial flusterness fades. my fanfiction.
