Alright here’s the writing piece I was talking about take it good night /lh
Rainy Day in the Shadow Realm
Rascal’s POV
I find myself walking in the forest where Ulric used to go every once and a while. If I were to have pockets, I would be putting my hands in them like normal humans would subconsciously do when they do their deep thinking. Hm. What am I thinking of?
Well...
I'm not positively sure.
I don't ever drift off like this. Most days I'm planning on how to defeat the Glitter Force; now I'm just acting like a background character or something. I let out a small sigh and look at my hand as I continue walking. What is with me today?
A clear drip of liquid falls on my hand and I look up. I don't remember it raining in the Shadow Realm. The sky then starts flashing a faded white light and along with it came some rumbling sounds. I frown as most of me begins to get wet from the rain; turn around to walk back to shelter. Doesn't seem as necessary to use any flying or teleportation business anymore.

I am back in my room, sitting there, staring at the rain drip down on my window. It’s calming, yet saddening. I look over my shoulder at the entrance of my room, thinking Ulric or Brute or someone busts in, but no one comes in. How could I have forgotten that they have been reformed and are back in Jubiland. Not even myself can tell whether or not that I like that they’re gone. Sure it is less loud and obnoxious, but it’s more... lonely. “Hmph, no I didn’t and won’t ever care about those fools!” I say to myself out loud by accident. There was a loud rumble again; I looked back towards the rain on the window and sigh.
Suddenly I start shivering and sneeze. Well, I am this one to blame for not using powers. I slowly walk towards my bed, still shivering a bit, and cover myself in blankets.
Commencing staring at the window of rain and lights again, I feel unusual. Is it the sadness that The Glitter Force used to feel when I persuaded them into quitting multiple valuable things? Oh, please don’t let me be putting myself in their shoes, there is nothing to be sad about! I am completely fine without those morons, or without Emperor Nogo, or without the Glitter Force ruining my plans!
Another drop of liquid falls beside my arm. It’s not raining in here is it? Did the rain somehow go through the roof? As I look up, I tilt my head. There was no sign of rain going through the roof. I droop my head back down and another clear liquid drop falls. I put my hands on my hair and face to see if I still wasn’t dry enough and I felt a warm feeling on my cheeks. It was coming from my eyes.
At first I shrugged it off and laid down, snuggling myself in the blankets and pillows, until I continued to feel the sadness and the warmness while shivering again.
All through out the night I couldn’t sleep; I just felt the same thing.
Curse this rain.

No one knows what happened to them... in fact, no one knows who they were, much less what their purpose was...
We can only imagine who these legendary warriors were and just what their roles were in the old life of Jubiland/Marchenland...

OKAY BUT
I just rewatched through all of Glitter Force and Doki Doki, and I just,,, Have this headcanon idea for Rascal that I want to share. I don’t know how much extra lore and stuff they cut out from Smile Precure, but I need to share the ideas I have.
There are some spoilers ahead, too.
What if. Emperor Nogo and Rascal are from Jubiland? What if they’re the King and the King’s main guard? I brought up Doki Doki because humans and pixies can live together. And yes there are guards and stuff and you don’t see any pixies in Jubiland. But at the same time, the queen isn’t a pixie herself and Candy does change becoming queen.
So what if Nogo was the Queen’s husband, and Rascal was in charge of the guard? What if they originally went to the Bad End Kingdom to help them? Because from what I know about it, it’s a desolate kingdom with almost no food, or supplies or anything. And they originally went there to help out with it and see if they could provide aid.
But they were there too long. They were possessed by dark energies, and became the villians we see them as in the show. That’s why Rascal is so loyal to Nogo. Because he’s the only one to stay with him, and help him, in Rascal’s mind. That’s also why Nogo relies on him over the others, because Rascal has always been by his side so there is a very twisted sense of loyalty there.
Which would in a way explain why he also went to get the other three. From when he was in charge of the guard he remembered how they were seen as the “villians” in the stories. So he used it against them and turned them into the three we see them as, until they’re changed back at the end.
Just a random theory I have. Im not sure what to do with this but here it is. If you wanna add anything or have comments please give them to me.

🌕 - Does a full moon impact your abilities?
“Yes. You see, under the full moon’s power, we Shadownians- I actually don’t know the official term for Shadow people, heehee- have our powers amplified, as it’s the peak of nighttime in our realm. The royals are especially affected, so yes. My powers are extremely formidable under the full moon.”
“As the King of the Shadow Realm, of course I would be affected. As Rascal said above, royals are very affected by this change, more than the rest of the Shadow Denizens- And that’s the official term- so I would be no exception.”
“You’d think I wouldn’t, considering I’m a princess of Jubiland.” Celuna added. “But I was born with Moon Powers, and the ancient stories say that those born of the Moon Goddess’ powers happen only once every thousand years. But for some reason, mine are more....powerful than any other wielder of Moon Magic in the past. And they get almost uncontrollable in a full moon. I have to turn into my pixie form just to not unleash it upon anyone. It would be....devastating.”

Precuruary: Smile Precure!
Finishing off my Precure Series Reviews (Least until my full review for Kira Kira next year and my first thoughts on the series of next year.), we get to the big one! Smile Precure! (Glitter Force!)
“The kingdom of Jubiland (メルヘンランド Meruhenrando?, Märchenland), where various characters from fairy tales reside, is attacked by the evil Emperor Nogo, who intends to direct its world to have its unhappy ending, but is stopped when Queen Euphoria uses the last of her energy to seal him away. When Nogo's minions from the Shadow Realm try to revive him by harnessing negative energy from the people of Earth, Euphoria sends the messenger Candy to assemble a team of five magical girls known as the Glitter Force (Smile Pretty Cure). The series follows the formation of the team and the adventures of the girls as they try to fight off their enemies to collect the magical Glitter Charms that will enable them to upgrade their powers and revive Euphoria.”
And now we have the big one! The second Precure series to ever get dubbed. Yeah, second. Futari Wa Precure series actually did have a dub done for Fox Kids and yeah...it wasn’t successful so that’s why until recently, in 2015, we finally get another English dub of Precure.
Out of all the ones though, Smile was the major one everyone wanted to be dubbed? I mean, don’t get me wrong. Smile Precure isn’t bad but I don’t think it’s as strong as say Heartcatch or Go! Princess. Then again, I guess this is better than Doki Doki or Happiness Charge getting a dub. I mean those series are already stupid enough as it is. If they were going to botch the writing a bit and change names, I can’t imagine how even more dumb down they would have made Doki Doki or Happiness Charge.
But still, I think if they really wanted to have a successful series for girls, especially since people are always bitching on how princesses are dainty and such, Go Princess I think would have been the more obvious choice. Then again, at the time, Go! Princess was still in production and you have to work with what you got and was already made.
So how does the actual series hold up? Well, as much as I do agree in terms of characters, Smile Precure has a little bit more creditably compared to Yes! Precure 5. As in, they take characters done before and at least try to do something a little more refreshing. Keyword, try. Not always succeed especially with our lead cure and Cure Sunny, they’re basically Cure Dream and Cure Rogue, but the others aren’t bad.
The series is bright and colorful and a bit wackier, which is why people remember this more but in some ways, I still prefer Yes! Precure 5 over it. I can’t put my finger on it but possibly because the story and concept, Precure 5 has a stronger and basic take. It can still be wacky and over the top, but the narrative is much more flowing and I feel like the characters are a little bit more believable, despite being somewhat of a character troupe. Precure 5 also has a more elegant and somewhat serious vibe, especially with the backgrounds, which I like a bit more than the over bright, colorful tones of Smile.
Put it short, it’s all about preference. If you like more serious and elegant, there’s Precure 5 and if you want a wackier, colorful take, you got Smile! They both have similar concepts but different enough to be it’s own thing and allow people to choose which they prefer.
Now it’s time, what do I think of the villains?
Honestly, up until this series, we had pretty bad villain lackies, except in Fresh Precure. I guess because they’re both interesting in personality and looks, did they actually make some merchandised of a villain, though mostly Wolfun. I guess the furry community of Precure, were just happy to have a furry character despite he’s a villain...?
The major one that most everyone agrees is both awesome and really creepy at the same time is Joker (Rascal in the English dub.). At first, he doesn’t get too much respect of the other lackies, seeing him as mostly mostly another one of them but we find out he’s one of the main honcho. You feel creeped out by him but at the same time, you can’t take you’re eyes off him because he’s unpredictable! You don’t always know if he’s threatening or just being his usual creepy, crazy self and I actually admired that a lot in him.
He’s threatening, he enjoys being evil, he’s dark, he’s kinda mysterious and creepy and yet, sometimes you laugh a little at his antics. He’s just a well rounded villain.
Before Shut and Close came around, Joker was my favorite villain of the Precure franchise and I always wished he was secretly human or better yet, a prince that Cure Happy or even Cure Beauty (as he’s often paired with in fan art) has to save. I mean wouldn’t that been a twist? An unhappy prince or even an unhappy jester of the Queen, turned into an evil clown and the cures had to save him? Sadly and I don’t think I’m spoiling much, he is not and it really disappoints me when you find out who he really is. It’s like, Toei, you finally made an interesting and unique villain and you decide “Hey, lets just give him a really crappy back story and really crappy ending...”
As seen here, Orba isn’t the first interesting villain to get axed off and it was probably done out of similar reasons as Orba. “He’s just too scary!” He’s a freakin villain! Kinda the point! And if you want him to be less scary, why not just make him more human to give audiences less reason to fear him!?
But there is one thing that always makes me smile to giggle and that’s the ending. A clown is basically destroyed by the power of smiles! That always makes me a little gitty. I mean how ironic is that! That’s the most ironic death in the history of animation I bet! He’s destroyed by something that he as a clown is meant to do! Make people smile and laugh but usually ends up doing the exact opposite and scaring the bejeebus out of people instead!
So yeah, the series to me is good. I dunno what it could have done to be better, other than, give Joker a more humanizing ending and yeah...that candle rod toy is...
Toei...Can you be any less obvious??
Ah well! The things that are good about it, including the animation, is pretty much enough. If you’re in a mood for something colorful and kinda out there, this series will do you good. If you want something more serious and stronger in terms of both story and character development, I’d say you could watch this and see if it does that for you, but if you want my opinion, there’s better series for that.
I’m glad we at least did get a dub and if you’re wondering what do I think of the dub? Pretty much the same thing as the original. A lot of people were complaining that it cut too much, but most of the episodes that they did cut, were mostly pointless filler anyway, with SOME exceptions for character development. The changes they made for like the names and such is understandable. Half the time, the reason why I often refer cures by their cure names is because some names are hard to remember. That and in western culture, I dunno if you really could get away with calling another clown character as Joker, especially since how eerily similar he is to Batman’s joker.
This series is aimed at kids. Cuts are often made so kids don’t get too confused and if you disagree with that, okay but keep in mind. Not everyone is like you. If you believe kids don’t get confused easily by culture differences especially, because you wouldn’t be as a kid, that’s more speaking out of personal view point rather than thinking about others as a whole. Not all kids are the same and each kid learns their own way.
Either way, we’ll always have the original series so I wouldn’t get too sore about it and hey, this just means more kids are introduced to Precure in some ways.
I rate Smile Precure a good 5 and a half stars out of 10. Not my most favorite but I’m glad I saw it. If you’re curious about it, see for yourself!

The Past
(this takes place in the past, so no icons will be present in this post. -Sakura)
Part 1
Celuna, the young and cheerful girl as she seemed, wasn’t very happy. Though she was the youngest Princess of Jubiland, there wasn’t much Jubilation in the castle.
Euphoria, now a teen, is preparing to become Queen in a few years. The eldest Princess, she was indeed pure of heart, but what she did was the reason many of the events to take place.
“H-Hey, Euphy, I have some new dolls!! You want to play with me?” Celuna asked her busy sister.
“Not now, Celuna. I’m busy.” She replied hastily, scribbling on a piece of parchment paper.
“Um...Okay....”
It’s been like this for years. Celuna never got the attention from her sister. And her sister was always “The Star Child”
So one day, she ran away from the palace.
Into the dark woods where a portal between Jubiland and The Shadow Realm existed.
“I’m never gonna go back! Never, ever never ever never ever never- oof!!”
She had bumped into a small boy. He had ash grey eyes, with all purple hair, and he squeezed a small stuffed jester teddy bear close to him. Tears were running down his face.
“O-Oh!! I’m so sorry!” He exclaimed, offering one hand to get up. Celuna cried. “I-It’s Okay....”
They stared at each other. “M-My name’s Rascal. I come from the Shadow Realm.”
“The Shadow Realm?! Why are you lost here in Jubiland?!” Celuna shouted.
“I’m not lost! I ran away cause my big brother doesn’t like me.”
“My big sister doesn’t like me either...”Celuna muttered.
It began to rain. “Quick, I’ll take you somewhere safe and dry!” He exclaimed.
They both ran to a cave hidden behind bushes. Rascal started a magical fire.
“So...what’s your name?”
“M’name is Celuna! I’m a silly princess here....I don’t like it at all.”
Celuna’s eyes widened. “Agh! Shadows!” She whimpered.
“You’re afraid too?” Rascal paused. “Hey, I know a game we could play to make all the scary monsters go away. I made it up!” He faces a Shadow. “So just look into its creepy face, and stick your tongue out at it! It will make you laugh!” He proceeded to stick out his tongue out at the dancing shadow. Then he let out a bubble of laughter. “Try it!”
“O-Okay...” She was scared to try. She made a very silly face, and it seemed the Shadow has grown....shorter. She giggled. “You’re right, it is funny!!” She smiled. A pink tint appeared on Rascal’s cheeks. “Right! Those shadows can’t get us cause we’re the silliest silly-face makers ever!!”

🐇 - For a secret item they keep (stuffed animal, comfort object, etc)
For Rascal, he has kept a rag tag stuffed teddy bear with a jester’s hat on its head since he was a child. It helped cope with his fears, due to his extreme shyness and being very timid as a child.
Celuna has had many prized dolls over the years, but none of them top the one made and given to her by her mother, Jubilee, the former queen of Jubiland before Euphoria. Jubilee was said to be more magical than meets the eye.....but the doll given to Celuna was hand-made, crafted from the heart.
