TFP WEREWOLF AU!!

It focuses mainly on humans because Yeah,,theyre very dear to me :-))

I made the orginal designs back at the beginning of 2021 but i thought i should remake them

HOW DO WEREWOLVES WORK IN THIS AU?

werewolves turn into their wolf forms during full Moon,however if they practice enough they can do it on Will (except for during full moon).

Werewolves have a society like dynamic, they have special doctors in medical facilities and a bunch of governors people knows about them. They’re like,, if you do the bare minimum to hide you won’t be found.

The alpha/beta/omega dynamics don’t really exist (because they don’t exist anywhere,even for real wolves lol) but werewolves from one territory create packs so they can function better.

For werewolves it’s illegal to turn other normal people into werewolves.

I have much more useless info about them which I’ll probably write about someday…

WHO IS AND WHO ISNT A WEREWOLF IN THIS AU

As I have mentioned before,this au focuses on tfp humans. To be more specific; adults in tfp.

In this au June,Fowler and Silas are werewolves.

Jack isn’t a werewolf because jun was turned into one after he was born. Fowler was born as a werewolf and Silas forced some poor guy to turn him into one. Also,Sierra is a werewolf.

WEREWOLF DESIGNS

In her werewolf form,June is 2x bigger than as a human. She’s a nurse assigned to working with werewolves and she assists anyone who has problems with transforming/got hurt during full moon. She’s a kind of a healer

Her skin is more greyish than when she’s a human because it’s stronger and kinda less visible during the night. (Also it’s just a design choice lmao)

She’s got a bite mark on her forearm from when she was bitten. She got turned into a werewolf when she was assisting a patient in the ER

She’s a rather strong werewolf and is pretty muscular in here werewolf form despite it being much bigger than her normal body .

FOWLER!!

He’s also much bigger than in his human form. His skin is also more greyish than his normal one.

And he’s got longer hair because he’s my favouri character and all my blorbos get long hair privileges ™️

He’s very strong and he’s the best at fighting from the three of humans in this au,because unlike them,he was born as a werewolf. He’s got no problem with transformations and it’s not as painful for him. Since his body has always been used to such changes, he’s the most “healthy looking” from the three (I mean,,he doesn’t have pointy bones,his skin doesn’t rip apart and his bones don’t break that bad)

SILAS!!!

Silas forced some poor guy to make him into a werewolf to be stronger etc. BUT his plan didn’t work- the guy really didn’t want to do that and it wasn’t done at the right time.

Silas is the smallest of the three. His transformations are long and painful and he can’t control them at all. Since his “becoming a werewolf “ didn’t quite work out,his body isn’t prepared for the overall changes; his bones grow and reshape but that could not be said about the muscles and body fat. He looks rather unhealthy. His skin stays the same as his human one and it often tears and is more likely to be bruised etc.

He also has the most human like proportions

MID SPOILERS(?):

ok so, i just finished midnight in salem 10 mins ago let me discuss some things. lets go likes and dislikes:

likes !

- more characters (though i feel like they could have been fleshed out more, didnt care for anyone other than the hardys, mei, deirdre, and lauren)

- the pancake and potion making games were fun

- drama with ned (i wish there was more, its so fun to see them argue and make up)

- the hardy boys were the saving grace of this game, i love them so much, even if they looked a little strange in this game

- dad actually answers back?? woah

- connections to history (tituba, the hathorne/parris name changes, etc)

- NANCY WENT OFF ON THE CULPRIT! actually showed a true confrontation where the culprit argued back and it almost seemed like the judge was gonna believe them over nancy. nancy really held her ground and presented the evidence well

- the town was cute if u put it on high quality

dislikes !

- i could make a whole post about how this game is clearly unfinished but we’ve all heard that and we all know, her interactive did not make this game, it’s a shell of a nancy drew game, but it was still enjoyable if u forget that it’s supposed to be connected to the previous 32 games

- if you’re gonna make a crowd in the town (it wasn’t really necessary) at least make enough npc designs where there isnt 3 of the same person next to each other. lmao.

- why the fuck can you not call bess and george?? they weren’t even mentioned? we got hardy boys ned dad and deirdre but.. bess and george,, her best friends,, arent in the game at all

- the new voice actress has a nice voice, but she is not a good actor. god. even the side characters had more emotion when speaking. she sounded so flat, like she was reading the script out loud for the first time. it really fucked up the flow of the conversation, when someone would say something like a normal person and nancy replies like a person actually trying to sound like they cant act. it wasn’t unbearable but it just made me skip thru most of the conversations

- there were like, no puzzles. a nancy drew game with like 5 puzzles max? fr?

- there was no danger to die throughout the game. nancy drew games are known for the strange and creative ways to “die” and use the second chance, but were there any at all? like maybe with the drowning part but other than that??

- there were no parts where nancy had a limited time to sneak thru someone’s stuff. there wasn’t any sneakiness at all really, and the closest that it came to was finding the tituba letter which causes lauren to find u immediately and have no repercussions. this game is way too safe

- nancy is a coward omfg. she wouldnt even attempt to get into mei’s room or the evidence room or anywhere she wasnt allowed, which is her THING! nancy sneaks and snoops and does questionable legal things like breaking and entering and flat out stealing for her cases. it makes u feel like there is real risk. there was none of that in this game :/ not my nancy

- soooo many cut scenes. it felt like watching a movie rather than playing a game

- this game wanted to force you to play how they want (ex: not letting you leave an area before finishing talking/looking around), while in past games, u could fuck around for hours and explore and play minigames wherever without having the game hold your hand or force cut scenes onto u. it was so jarring, id get annoyed when characters would randomly stop me while im trying to follow my own path

- the jumpscares? thats when i was fully thrown off and it felt like a movie. they were unnecessary tbh, nancy drew games have never relied on jumpscares to create the atmosphere of the game

- the characters speaking did not match their lips it was kinda funny

- there’s definitely more i can’t think of but these are the main points

- no actual easter eggs, and not enough reference to older games. no sonny june??:?:?

in conclusion:

i enjoyed it as a game but not as a nancy drew game. everytime i remembered i was playing as nancy drew, i would notice the bad stuff and get annoyed easily. i think everyone in the clue crew should play it, but expect it to be very very different than any other game. this is not only a new game design, a new voice actor,,, this is a new nancy. i hope the future games consider the fanbase and the charm of the original games :(

the above image, while working well enough standalone, actually requires quite a bit of context, unlike many posts on this site. it is a screenshot of the sexy characters category page on the parody wiki, which is a site for articles about crossovers, spoofs, and parody scripts written in wiki-page format. it seems to function as a type of fanfiction and creative writing space, and to be curated informally. anyway, of the characters above, soleil spacebot is the only one that seemed totally unrecognizable

clicking her parody wiki page is where things begin to get truly strange

Soleil Spacebot is one the main characters in Nelvana's 1986 Animated Television Series, The Spacebots. She is the eldest of three sisters and has a crush on Sam Spacebot.

this information seems reasonable enough, and like it might be about an obscure but existing cartoon. soleils page has some basic information about her and some miscellaneous, confusing crossover information, like every page on the parody wiki. it lists her in various other categories, including “capable characters” and characters who are 19. at the time of beginning this post (early 2017), there were three drawings of her, with a similar style, and no screenshots.

beneath these drawings are two pictures made in dollmakers.

there were no other pictures on the page. visiting the spacebots page itself reveals the following:

The Spacebots is a Canadian animated series produced by Nelvana. It ran from September 13, 1986 to November 28, 1992 and ran for 91 episodes. It features fictional characters including heroes and villains. The background music from The Care Bears Family is used in all episodes of the TV Series.

it also lists a cast of several characters, with credited voice actors:

the other characters have pages of varying complexity, with pictures in the same style. at this point the spacebots cartoon still seems like something that could exist, but googling it turns up only results from this wiki and similar wikis.

spacebots is mentioned on numerous cartoon, parody, spoof, movie idea, and similar fan wikis.

if the spacebots cartoon never existed, it begins to raise questions. someone putting their original character in the sexy characters category on a spoof wiki isnt so startling. neither is someone framing this character as someone from an existing show-- this wiki and similar have pages about non-existing media

however, the level of detail and specificity is alarming. these characters have voice actors (some who turn up google results, some who dont) linked to them, with lists of other voice-acting work theyve done (including cartoons that dont seem to exist either). looking for more information on the spacebots turns up a page on a very badly organized nelvana wiki with more elaborate airing dates information.

The Spacebots is a Canadian animated television series produced by Nelvana, which aired between 1986 and 1992 in syndication; on the ABC network, The CBN Family Channel from 1988 to 1992 and The Family Channel from 1992 to 1998.

by the way, this list of nelvanas programs has no mention of spacebots.

at this time, on revisiting her page on the parody wiki some months after finding the information detailed in the first part of this post, several new pictures had been added— like this screenshot of soleil in the sims 4:

there are various other tracings, redraws, or dressup game pictures of her:

one of the new images is labeled “soleil spacebot in the reboot” and there are reboot designs for soleil’s siblings elsewhere on the parody wiki, as well as this image (from the youtubescratch wiki page for the spacebots) of a reboot poster:

this is completely new— the person or people responsible for spacebots is actively working on the spacebots worldbuilding, creating new promotional materials for a nonexistent 2015 reboot (”The Spacebots (Reboot) 2015″) of a nonexistent 80s-90s cartoon.

there are multiple spacebots reboot posters, but no information about the reboot itself yet, other than a page mentioning it being from 2015. this raises the question of whether soleil’s creator will continue adding to the worldbuilding surrounding their fictional show by citing more information about the reboot, or whether more information about the show’s plot and characters will be revealed (still no wiki pages or pictures for the character named “sour venus” which is disappointing!) or whether the additions will end here.

spacebots’ storytelling medium and its metafiction layers are fascinating. the fiction here is as much the show’s premise, and the original characters existing within the cartoon’s story at all, as it is the circumstances of this show’s existence— voice actors, animation companies, airing dates, a reboot, and proper “credits” for nonexistent in-show music.

so much more information is offered about the show’s production than about the actual plot and characters of the show. the fictional production may be the creator’s area of interest, rather than their original characters (though soleil IS listed as a sexy character and many painstakingly created images of her exist).

the mode of publication is interesting too. spacebots doesn’t seem to be advertised anywhere else, only on these wikis, which have their own fanbases. the youtubescratch page says it was created by a “Miss-Trina-Mouse” (edited by others occasionally) which is also the username on an empty deviantart account created 9 months ago, by someone who says she is female and canadian. “trina mouse” seems to be a fan character for tom and jerry (apologies if trina mouse is an existing character; i do not remember every character of tom and jerry).

(picture from the ideas wiki) this may be the closest thing to an avatar of the creator of the spacebots that currently exists, if Miss-Trina-Mouse is indeed the creator and not a new collaborator. Miss-Trina-Mouse is the creator of trina mouse’s page, and evidently the person currently updating spacebots pages with new or “corrected” information. on this page, the airing dates have been changed to other particular airing dates:

Miss-Trina-Mouse has evidently been working on spacebots for some time, and has continued to do so. the page itself was created on june 13th, 2015, by an IP address that may or may not belong to Miss-Trina-Mouse.

Miss-Trina-Mouse does not seem to be the only person working on pages related to the spacebots, however. the edit history for a page about a nonexistent spacebots animated film, “operation system shutdown” reveals it was created by a Sarah61, edited by a Tobina the Tomboy (who has a detailed profile page on the animalcrossing wiki) and eventually edited by Miss-Trina-Mouse as well:

whether these are aliases belonging to the same person, a group of friends, a group of acquaintances, fans of another person’s work, totally spontaneous or planned privately in detail all remains unclear.

Tobina the Tomboy’s profile has pictures in a similar art style to the original soleil drawings, and says she is female, and canadian (like Miss-Trina-Mouse, which makes me wonder whether they are friends or perhaps alternate accounts of the same person). Tobina also lists her favorite animal crossing characters and overall seems to be an ordinary real profile. she has a similar profile on the mysims wiki, listing favorite and least favorite characters from that. i am not screencapping it, because it seems to simply be someone’s self-created public profile without any particularly unusual elements. Tobina and/or Miss-Trina-Mouse could be the spacebots’ creator(s), though, while Sarah61 is too common of a username to search easily, despite being the page’s creator.

(i have little interest in seeking out more information about these contributors beyond what they make immediately available on their profiles, since it appears that they are ordinary nonfictional people with an interesting fictional hobby)

perhaps it is silly to look so deeply into this project, and to want to know more about it so badly when it seems like it is something its creator(s) made for fun, and doesnt seem sinister in any way. however, the format is not like anything i have come across before, and the level of detail startles me almost as much as the difficulty in finding those details. the spacebots can only be sort-of understood by reading fragmented pages across many different wikis and every wiki reveals more information, some which can be searched to discover more about, and some which turns up no other results. there is even a 1987 NES video game mentioned on at least one wiki:

everything about the spacebots, its presentation, and its continued existence is fascinating. looking into it has been a wild ride to say the least, and the amount of meticulous creative energy put into it is nothing short of admirable.

if spacebots has been created in this way, how many similar unreal shows are out there, in the same format? i know little about wikis of this type, so is this a common creative method on them? is spacebots the creation of one person, or is it collaborative? does the original creator still have control of the concept or is a fan— fans?— permitted to update freely? is the initial creator still working on spacebots wiki pages at all? will more information about the spacebots reboot become available? how long has this been going on? is spacebots more like an art project, an ARG, informal original storytelling (like someone explaining their deviantart OCs), or something else entirely?

The six Spacebots and their allies live in a sci-fi futuristic city called Spaceland. They have their magic powers, magical stars and magical hearts and they have to stop Commander Zurg and The Freakalien brothers from wrecking havoc and planning to destroy Spaceland.

i hope that reading about my attempts at putting them together has been as interesting as i found making those attempts in the first place, and that the spacebots wiki pages will continue updating

The New LinkedIn Looks Just Like Facebook. Smart Move.

Linkedin just gave its desktop UI the full Beverly Hillsmakeover. This wasn’t a nip-and-tuck or a light rhinoplasty. Itwas a shave-some-bone-and-redistribute-some-toochis-fat overhaulto make the professional social network look like its frenemy, Facebook.

It is a welcome upgrade to a kludgy design that even company co-founder Reid Hoffman once conceded“needed work.” The site is cleaner, faster, and a whole lot easier to navigate.

You’ll see the biggest change on the homepage. The link to your profile sits at the upper left. Yournewsfeed cascades downthe middle, just below an entry field for sharing articles, photos, and status updates. To the right, exactly where Facebook placesits trending topics, LinkedIn added a section called What you need to know now. Its above an ad card thats in more or less the same spotas Facebooks ad card.

The blatant cribbingis smart. People know how to use Facebook, but even Hoffman once calledthe old LinkedIn “confusing.” Amy Parnell, the company’s senior director of experience design, was more charitable when she said ithad “too much noise, too much cognitive load.”

“It was hard for people to understand what to do, she says. The goal with this design was to simplify and create focus.” The best way to do that was give users an experience they already understand.Were a social network, Facebook is a social network. The types and interactions and behaviors you see on the platforms are similar, Parnell says. From a design perspective, you dont want to create a whole new paradigm for how you interact with that model. If someone were to create a new email application, you would expect it to look and feel like email, and for it to leverage interaction patterns that are standard to the industry.

So Facebook is email now? Thats kind of a cop out, says usability researcher Gabriela Marcu, of Drexel University. But only kind of. Outward appearances notwithstanding, LinkedIns redesign hews tothe platforms prim, businesslike sensibilities. Theyve done a lot of work beyond the homepage, and theyve absolutely done it in their own way, Marcu says. Theyve improved the way people message each other and search for jobs, how the platform makes recommendations based on a users background, how someone can use their connections to get inside information about a company. From a user-experience perspective, it looks like theyve really thought these things through.

Parnells team built the redesign usinga pattern library it calls Art Deco. Parnell says it is to LinkedIn what Material Design is to Google: A visual language that informs things like the sites grid, layout, typography, button design, and interaction patterns. Art Deco touches every corner of the redesign, on desktop and mobile.The result is a friendlier, more fluid, more cohesive user experience. The new homepage is theportal to that experience.

In that light, copyingFacebook registers as even less of a cop-out. People keep expecting these sites to look similarly and for them to interact with them similarly, says CU Boulders Brian Keegan, a specialist in human-computer interaction.

Users arent the only ones who benefit from this convergence of strategies. Newsfeeds, trending topics, and smart, in-line messaging are features engineered to keep users engaged, and coming back. Thats good for LinkedIn, and great for Microsoft, which bought the social network in June. Parnell says the overhaul started long before the acquisition, but the redesign puts to rest any lingering doubts about Microsofts desireto own a competitive social network, or that it is emulating Facebook.

This isnt just a productivity play. Theyre gunning hard for a stronger presence in social media and digital marketing, Keegan says. And not for nothing, users can still fall back on LinkedIns stodgy reputation when their bosses catch them browsing at work. If I was Zuckerberg, I would be really concerned about every Microsoft Office user being pulled into checking LinkedIn at work.

Thats the thing about LinkedIn. For years, its been the (gainfully employed) square at Social Media High. This redesign could win it a spot at the cool kids table. Sure, it dresses like Facebook, but its still a nerd at heart. That’s a powerful combination.
