Racism in the whump community

I'm a tired black woman and I wanna talk about the kind of racism i see in the whump community. This isnt a callout, but a discussion and its an invite for white people to listen not talk over me.

Whump is when characters get hurt, this can be from fandom or with original characters, so I'll go into each of these starting with fandom.

Fandom racism is well documented, white people will actively ignore or hate on people of colour, especially black women, both the characters and the actors. Black, Latino and Asian characters are consistently hated or ignored, especially in whump. As someone who runs a poc whump blog, I have to make gifs (as someone who doesnt have the talent or energy to do that) for franchises like the fucking MCU, where characters like Sam Wilson or T'Challa, who have massive fanbases outside of tumblr/whumpblr, but here theyre irrelevant. Black stories and pain are irrelevant in whump.

Been in servers where people will talk about a whumpee by showing pictures of a group of people, no one has to mention theyre talking about the white man in the group, we all know ofc whumpees are white men. The poc in the shot are the background, even if theyre the main characters, to a white person eyes, they arent relevant, arent important.

And OC content isnt free from this either. Instead of ignoring people of colour, we are simply not present. And whump is derived from fandom so its clear that these are linked. You dont like it when we're there, and make worlds where we are not. And it's not about intention, maybe youre just worried about writing poc, maybe we just dont come to your mind at all. But the effect, the consequence, is more important on poc in the community than any of that.

And when you do write us, you feminise and fetishise asian men, you make black men hypermasculine or subject them to poilce brutality. You make black women the sassy best friend type, the black mama to serve white people. We're never the centre of the story.

And whiteness is glorified. In its pale innocence, in the beauty of blue eyes or brown hair. The whumpee was made to be white and for white people to project themselves on. Not for poc. This wasn't made for us.

Something that is so innocent, so obvious to a white person can be harmful to a person of colour and the problem isnt an individual, its a structure. Fandoms are structurally white, the whump community is structurally white. Places white people go to turn their brain off, to "escape" always mean that its a space where poc cant escape. Because you let the racism that is in you not get addressed, and where no one is addressing racism, it flourishes.

okayyy i finished the new ending in Lisa the Joyful so yeah, heres another long Lisa post. this will more so have a short list of what i did and didnt like of the game since i know opinions are often mixed. but ill have a long focus talking about the new content compared to the rest of the game. and will later go on about characterization and writing in detail.

Also while you can find a no commentary video for the new ending, almost all uploads skip an earlier portion of it, so I uploaded it myself! with timestamps.

TW for uhh the same triggers- sexual, physical, verbal abuse mostly.

SO OKAY. Okay.

The brief on the main game....

What I did like:

I like the general story. I enjoyed the horror of watching more and more joy mutants arriving, even some of the warlords being joy mutants already, and normal characters like the uhh shelf vendor guy being a mutant. additionally things like wearing a mask mattering. i think it was important to too still have some weirdos bc thats one of the key things in displaying the cycle of these men's behavior. music always good too of course. i enjoy Buddy's internal conflict too and i dont mind here characterization-- its just the pacing. I actually liked the epilogues a bit more than what the endings actually told us lol... tbh they carry more weight in terms of giving us information about the past. But the ones that hit hardest are the ones where Lisa tells Buzzo to mutilate her so her father wont want her anyways. and the one with Brad's father forcing him to drink alcohol and go with him to lisa's room (to presumedly watch his father abuse lisa).

What i didn't like:

the "original" endings (not the new definitive one) were weak and i am sure most feel that way. I think actually the issue for me is the choice... cuz playing with joy? well i think the "stay with them" makes sense as she gets more fucked up and unstable (and assume addicted). the joyless route makes me feel like i should fittingly take the "leave them" ending bc she is mentally aware enough to know she still hates what happened to her and wants to leave them behind. the choices of them feel conflicting to the routes you might choose but you dont think about it bc there is no consequence to taking joy! the pacing of course is a big complaint. cuz see i dont think the story or writing is horrible i just think it needed to be longer in order to expand on all those things rushed through. the ideas would feel good if the pacing didnt speed through it. the Yado epilogue is fine too but i think just left more questions than answers than the endings themself so i would have rather done without it imo.

As stated i will go WAY more into the characters after I talk about this new stuff. I will talk heavily about what happens in it too so feel free to read this later if you dont watch it... but you really should look at the new Painful and Joyful content as they also kinda go together.

NEW CONTENT..... kind of new ending, it plays directly into it. Unlike Painful where it doesnt alter the actual ending content. and i will go over the normal endings a bit more in relation to this bc of how it affects pacing etc...

So On one hand I like what it added and on the other hand it wasnt great-- which all plays into the games already existing pacing issues. Which is a shame. i liked collecting the items, the meaning of the statues (n the dialog being the same as the Painful one), and the exploration leading up to the warlord fight. I chose not to fight the warlords because they were so damn strong and I like that there was recognition for not fighting back. Idk if i feel like there was a good reason for them to be there but I think it at least gives more meaning to the warlords since they didnt DO that much in the game other than to be killed. Most had barely anything to say.

For the bigger Secret at the grave for Lisa-- I liked this a lot too actually. Getting to hear from the guys their thoughts about Buddy that is from the assumed context theyre already dead here (w how Sticky's death is mentioned esp) is just kinda nice. The further content with Berny and Dusty, where Berny tells him to fight harder and to treat girls with aggression.... yeah that hits. The cycle of abuse really just continues huh. The rest of it is fine, I feel like it does give some better commentary on character's thoughts but it is quite short, and is left on a more metaphorical note with the flowering skull and whatnot.

Now is the part I see more conflict on AGAIN and I dont blame people for being conflicted about it. I didnt mind the way Buzzo talked about Brad in the original-- I dont think that writing was an actual excuse to Brad, I think it was just Buzzo trying to blame himself instead for everything (the new contents dialog with the sticky/rick/cheeks also had good to say on Brad's behavior and not excusing it but talking about the abuse of drugs in the context of that). I did feel that the conversation wasnt enough in the original though, to fully imply that he was talking like that or to give a better conversation on drug abuse. Buuut here we are w the extended new dialog with Buzzo. I did like how he started getting more depressed and angsty about Lisa! And the comment "she would have loved it here" is interesting bc i feel the implication is that she would have loved being in a world where all these men are now gone. but let me move onto the rest bc like, that matters the most here.

woof okay. So Buddy goes off when Buzzo says that which i get. However this conversation falters in the same way the whole game does. Buddy gets a LOT of talking time here. And she kind of keeps going in a way that really doesnt feel plausible you know? The new stuff added more connection between her and Lisa but its not enough to make us think she should be defending Lisa. I think there couldve been a neat exploration of all this comparing to Lisa but Joyful doesnt have that time. While I cant claim it, Buddy's rant kiiinda feels like a rant from behind the scenes with how less in character it feels. Buzzo is made far more pathetic and I don't disagree with this realization that he'd dissolve into a little pathetic man, again the game just doesnt have the time to make it work better.

and dont even get me started on Buddy's inconsistent opinion on Brad... this is like, annoying and I mentioned it in relation to the ending choices. After this new dialog rant Buddy sounds like she is forgiving Brad/coming to realize things about him that gives her more understanding. And i think that is fine BUT the issue is that right after talking to Buzzo the game returns as normal and when she sees mutant Brad approach, she reacts with genuine upset at seeing him and comments how she never wanted to see him again :/

I know at this point there is no way they could have "salvaged" Joyful for this release-- that would be too much and I dont think itd be right to get rid of the old endings entirely (Painful didnt, nor did the new content change anything about it). Its a shame- some of it was good. some of it i think they just shouldnt have done (the end buzzo fight) because it just conflicted more/kind of highlights the pacing problems. if anything i think leaving out that buzzo rant would have made the rest of that feel like it did help the pacing because it gave a pause between the ending of the game. anyways.

CHARACTERIZATIONNNN

righto. i think i covered pacing enough so i will try and leave that out of every comment i make here lol.

So like, I dont have a problem with Buddy's intentions in the game exactly. Her actions in many ways make sense... at least I would say that its fine she is very violent. That is literally the main thing Brad taught her whether or not you look at the start scene of Joyful, it reflects in how she would always be told how dangerous the world is too. The pace of course, makes this all happen so fast.

And of course the biggest hit that I think turns off many is how much talking there is. I certainly love hearing more from characters, Brad was quiet because he was brad, yet no one else needs to be quiet too so i think thats fine. But with Buddy's life it seems like she should have been quiet until her mental state and mindset shifted due to her treatment and justification of violence. even in Painful she seems relatively quiet and Joyful takes place right after pretty much.

In terms of others-- Rando is fine, like hes not that bad. We didn't know him all to well and what we know of Dusty i expected him to be a nice kid, esp w the whole adopted thing. But his back and forth with Buddy was more annoying w how short the game was (doing things, wanting to run to the other place and being stopped for a scene at the campfire by force. repeat.) I did like the whole deal with his friends and later his death too. Buzzo so i dont completely hate buzzo minus the fast jump in the new content. but he was pretty unhinged in Painful and to see it completely drop seemed wrong. i do think it make sense he probably felt loads of guilt for brad... but we just again, didnt get enough time with these characters.

Other characters? Well i mentioned it above but the warlords did NOT get much of any character. Which sucks bc if those parts alone had been extended (their area being longer or more full of interactions) i think it would have helped the game too. In terms of the other antagonist, Bolo, considering he was new for this game I think he was just fine. His role was small in a good way and honestly when he did appear it was for good moments that worked. The whole scene with him, Rando, and Buddy where Buddy tries to save Rando was probably my favorite part lol? Simply bc i think it worked well for all of their characters. For all of them I think it was my favorite moment of characterization-- Buddy's choices to drop or hold him both work for her i think. And yikes, disgusting moment with Bolo. And I will be real, I think Joyful needed that. The game was short so i wouldnt have wanted more but, Painful had it uncomfortable and gross moments and I think that is important to an extent of really pushing the importance of narrative and experiences of Buddy (and reflecting Lisa).

uhhhhh yeah i think thats most of what I can say. iirc i wasnt around for the old kickstarter but Joyful was a stretch goal right? and i heard Austin isnt exactly happy with it either? its really really a shame that it was a stretch goal that felt forced. I get why it was a tempting goal for people but.... it just sucks bc its clear that is why this game turned out the way it did. i wonder often if him not doing much else with the series is simply bc joyful had to be the "conclusion" and its not one hes exactly happy with either. tbh the series could have just been Painful and it would be fine. but if Joyful wasnt a DLC i imagine it would have been likely we'd see a full fledged sequel instead and it sucks it had to go that way. i definitely dont hate the creator for it but itsucks for everyone that even the additions in Definitive cant fix what happened already with that game.

hunter toh in my botw au.....oh i could go on and on abt this au. i think ill do lumity next?

feel free to ask question abt the au. please do actually. to get you started heres some base info under the cut. its VERY ramble-y.

base character matchups are Luz as Zelda, Hunter as Link, and Belos as Ganon. this au doesnt involve much from TotK bc i havent finished it but. given the story it will definitely come into play!

basic story/plot/exposition is that 10,000 years ago, the sheikah Made a Hero for the future. just in case. extra safety measure or whatever. they saw how difficult it was to overcome the calamity and were like, hey, what if we made the ideal hero for future hyrule? make it easier. and so they do. they Make a Guy (caleb is the first hero (yknow the one in the hyrule historia manga bit) so his bones arent available to use for a grimwalker. so idk if hunter is a grimwalker of the 10k hero or if hes made entirely independently bc the sheikah. probably could do that) and stick him in the shrine of resurrection. this is the true purpose of the SoR: its really more of a shrine of stasis, to keep this manmade hero alive till hes needed. think cryogenic stasis or whatever.

so. hunter sleeps in the SoR for 10,000 years. has an awful time. one of the first (maybe The first) fic i read on ao3 was about what the SoR was like for botw link and it. stuck with me. so now i incorporate it into everything i make for botw if possible. anyways he has a miserable time, which is important because he had this miserable time for 10,000 years instead of just 100. Anyways. like botw link, he loses his memories. unlike botw link, they are inaccessible. period. there is no remembering Shit. besides like. vague vibes that he was instilled with. turns out if you make a person and tell them for their entire short existence that theyre made for a thing, then even if they forget everything else they Will still remember that theyre made for a thing. even if they dont really. so yeah all hunter knows is that he is not a person, that he exists for a Reason, and how to breathe. and other basic bodily functions. hes basically a big baby with a hero complex.

the rest of the au takes place "pre-calamity". i have a vague idea on how the actual calamity takes place (and how to make it similar to botw w/out so much death bc i have thought Very Much about this specific time period and not whatever the hell would be going on a century later. lmao.)

so. when the SoR is Discovered by sheikah researchers everyone is Very Surprised at the Whole Human Boy inside. because well. that should not be possible. this thing was difficult as hell to get into and also there was quite a bit of rock in the way! so they assume him to be dead and just miraculously preserved by the SoR fluid. And then he wakes up screaming (imagine being in the most agonizing sensory deprivation tank ever for 10,000 years and then abruptly being exposed to the world again. not fun!) and everyone is like OH SHIT ITS ALIVE.

eventually they get him out and not having the worst overstimulation meltdown in the history of all time and space and get back to hashtag Researching. some ppl focus on him (taking care of him (like i said. big baby with a hero complex), figuring out what the hell is up with him, etc) and others continue examining the SoR. the ppl with hunter make very little progress. because just bc hes not having the worst overstimulation meltdown in the history of all time and space, it doesnt mean he has a clue whats going on at all. or that hes not still having one of the worst overstimulation meltdowns in the history of all time and space. the ppl at the SoR, however, find a plaque with his name and vague purpose for existing, as well as the sheikah slate. yippee!!!

after all this, once hes less. of a big baby with a hero complex ig. we move to more character-focused stuff than exposition. so ill end this here for now. if you read all this you are very invited to talk to me abt this! i would love that! a good place to start i think would be with explaining characters. most of the important characters in the show are in this au. and i do mean most. there is quite a lot going on

I’m curios to ask (If it’s alright, feel free not if you don’t want to) what makes Underlust your fave Au?

Oh this is a great question! There are a lot of reasons!! Longpost under the cut. Forgive me, i typed this on my phone and i just woke up.

One is the designs. I fucking adore everyones designs! Sans is damn cute! Papyrus is cute! Napstablook is cute! MTT is cute! Grillby is cute! The color palettes and slight deviations that make them unique are all just Artistically Good and they hit me somewhere nice in the visual appeal part of my brain.

Another reason is that I just love the canon story! I mean, yeah, its really dark and tragic what happened to Mettaton. But the point of the story is that he overcomes it. He is able to heal. The story tells us that you can heal even after you get hurt that badly and it doesnt have to define you and thats wonderful and beautiful and something too many people legitimately need to hear.

And the RELATIONSHIPS!! MTT and Papyrus talk it out and have a relationship that isnt based in physicality they just genuinely love each other. And Papyrus is so clearly Ride or Die. It's just GREAT okay? And the Sansby is ALSO GREAT because Sans and Grillby are awkward and never talk until Sans does his drunken confesssion and Grillbz is just like oh god i love this dumb idiot drunk this is my life now.

And MTT and Alphys also have a great relationship! They are close enough to make Girl Talk even after what happened! Alphys knows cuz she patched MTT up but they're still making sass at each other! GREAT!!

Papyrus and Undyne have a great relationship!!! She doesn't infantilize him and admits he is good at the sex part of the job, she just thinks he is too clingy and romance driven to keep himself detached enough for work. And thats a legitimate concern! For his well being and the clients both!

Sans and Papyrus's relationship is great!! There is clearly a standard set of platonic affection being shared between them. They talk and joke and sass and tease each other. Theyre brothers and its great.

(did the creator draw a lot of underlust fontcest too? yes. yes she did. and that was also great. but these are two separate things and even without the obvious -gestures- "theyre fictional skeleton monsters, dont be weird", its also addressed that the fontcest part is not something to model irl.)

And i like to headcanon blooky and sans are friends even though they never interacted in the canon material we got. i like to think they would have eventually if it wasn't discontinued.

I love how the humans are adults and frisk is aroace. i'm afraid of children so having an AU where the humans are all canonically adult is great to me.

I love Toriel and Asgore's relationship. It is tragic what happened to them, but I think it's important that stories not always shy away from that kind of hurt. Some people need stories like that too.

I love Rosie the Rose's design and concept in general.

I also love the LUST mechanic. I love that there is an AU where sex is a prominent, plot relevant, societally prevalent and important thing. I love that as an Asexual, myself. It allows me to explore that topic safely, while having fun. I love how its treated as a both natural (meaning its normal and not gross or weird) and unnatural (not meant for monsters, specifically, under normal circumstances) thing. I love how it is defined as a Very Human thing, and what that can mean to me when analyzed and juxtaposed against the narrative foil to the idea that we are given in Frisk the Asexual.

I kinda love that the whole thing is 80% shitposts and pieces the creator made while just having fun living their best life. Yes the papyton comic, which is the meat of the canon, was done seriously, but so much was made of just the characters having fun being themselves and thats pretty cool too.

I know there is a lot of bad publicity around underlust. I know people have spread terrible rumors about it. I frankly dont care. I know it is a beautiful story made from beautiful art. wherever its creator is now i wish her the best in the world. It is my favorite AU (aside from my own lol) and nobody can change my mind.

2: what sort of music would they like? have you thought about what genres or bands do they lean towards? do they have a favorite song? probably like…rock/soft rock/grunge and anything with cool basslines too. he and mally both like green day a lot (they have got some really cool basslines btw), but other than that idk about specific bands..i think hed just sort of like songs not specific bands on the other side of the spectrum, i could also see him really liking jazz music

21: their favorite place to be? his old house back in wonderland…i keep it real w some tim burton movie things in my little story and he, tarrant and mally all lived in the windmill. its his home and it’s where he and all his friends would have teaparties and stuff yk. its his favorite place to be and while they all live in california its the place he misses the most :”(

33: if applicable, how would your other characters describe them? i mean specifically the people around them. his friends all see him as pretty chill, very nice + friendly. he pretty much gets along with everybody. he’s a little spacey, and he can be a little clingy sometimes, but they dont usually mind very much.

28: how do they show that they care about someone? how do they express that they don't like someone? when mally doesnt like someone its very obvious because he’ll basically just tell them. and he’ll tell his friends too. he doesnt usually hide that he doesnt like someone lmao when he likes someone he shares stuff with them. i dont mean like actual stuff i mean like he’ll tell them about a song he’s working on, or a band he likes, or smthg. a lot of the stuff he talks about revolves around music, and specifically guitar.

34: how would your character describe themselves? it doesn't have to line up with how they really are. yk that meme thats like “wow these people are so weird, glad im the only normal one here” or whatever thats basically him. i mean he likes his friends and he thinks theyre cool too, but he thinks hes waaay cooler than any of them easily. and waaay more normal. which idk i guess that’s up for debate, maybe he is. i dont think so but whatever.. he thinks he’s very cool, very charming, great fashion taste just all around good opinions on everything. he gives people a lot of unwanted advice or talks over people cus of that. he’s just an all around very confident guy, which can be good and bad

aghh and then ill just answer this one for fun: 17: how did they spend their summers/free time as a child? tarrant n thackery have known each other the longest out of anyone in the band since they were friends as kids. they'd usually spend their free time together :DD

4. the deathlings' fight for freedom and it's role in the story

tbh I also didnt think to wonder about whether they won or not. maybe bc from wilbur point of view the goal was standing up against his past/letting go of the pythia and getting out of there with tommy and alive

all in all their situation is so interesting and kinda weird? bc like wilbur is going thru his own thing, being kidnapped but at the same time the temple becoming his escape from his abusive life in the palace and the fight against schlatt and his court was his chance for actual freedom and closure

but the deathlings have been "fighting" against schlatt for years, probably even longer than they have been alive there were deathlings before them hoping to be free and its clear most of them never thought it would happen during their lifetime so while they were technically trying to win they were mostly just surviving in the temple (and while from wilburs pov they were living a nice community life together they had to get in danger to steal food and couldnt really leave so was it really living) and even kidnapping the pythia was a spontaneous shot in the dark and now its worked out and they arent illegal anymore and they can theoretically live a normal life and like some of them have probably never had that before, I mean tommy, tubbo, aimsey, ranboo theyre all so young they mustve joined as kids

but at the same time we dont know how its going to work out in reality, the laws and the publics opinion arent one and the same and they have been painted out as terrorists for so long and like look at erets kingdom its not illegal there but still a taboo and there are just so many questions about what will come and how its gonna go, but that doesnt mean the win isnt a win

and we might not learn what will happen and we probably wont learn much more about the deathlings' pasts too but thats bc it isnt what this story is about, this one is about wilbur and from his pov so it makes sense yk

I actually really like this uncertainty, but also its not like you were left hanging at the end of the fic, we never even knew the beginning or most of the deathlings' story in general, we just get a glimpse at it while wilbur stays with them

yeah that's the thing, I didn't want the deathlings whole fight to be the focus because that wasn't wilbur's focus. wilbur's story was about finding his own sense of self and putting the pieces of his identity back together. the deathlings goals aligned with his and of course he wants them to have their freedom, but he's got other things on his mind.

(also this isn't related to glass really but since you grouped aimsey in with the 'kids' I do just wanna point out that even though I don't always match cc ages to character ages, cc!aimsey is only a month younger than cc!niki so in glass I kind of imagined a similar thing, with glass!aimsey being around 20-21. still definitely young, but a bit older than tommy, tubbo, and ranboo)

anyway yeah the thing is we're not going to know how it all shakes out. the fear and prejudice against death worship has gone on for a century if not longer, it's not something that's going to disappear overnight. but the important thing is it won't be outright illegal. the deathlings won't be hunted down (presuming they don't commit anymore acts of mass terrorism).

i'm glad you like these aspects of ambiguity! I really like leaving certain things vague at the end of my fics because I feel like it's a bit boring to just give all the answers. I like leaving things up to reader's imagination and glass is no exception. and like you said, it was never wilbur's main focus. he had his own story separate from the deathlings, there just happened to be some overlap for a short while.

:autismstare: anon are you sure...a free pass to infodump about r1999...(i start shaking)

(imagine the scene changes into me looking like a nerd about to teach you something) ok so reverse 1999 is a (checks note) turn-based tactical role-playing video game. whatever that's supposed to mean. and it released globally pretty recently, during october 2023! the first version released was the chinese one, who was released may 2023, so the difference is not too huge

but yeah! the gameplay is basically it's...gacha. unfortunately. maximum rarity is 6 stars. and you can use your characters in battles (3 maximum, + a bonus character that enters the battle if one of your characters dies)

and in the battles you can do moves but using cards, and there's multiple different moves. attack (either reality dmg or mental dmg, either on a single enemies or on 2 enemies, ect), buff, debuff, healing...you know the drill. and yeah all your characters have their own sets of cards that are handed to you randomly at the beginning of each round. you can also move your cards around and combine them (IF they are the same) to make them stronger!

theres also moxies that you accumulate by doing moves or moving your cards or combining them ect and basically when your character has maximum moxies you can play their ultimate which is their super powerful attack, basically

BUT ENOUGH OF THE GAMEPLAY the story. its sooooooo good basically the premise is that there is something called the storm that makes time move backwards ever since 1999. so the main cast goes from the 1960s to the 1920s at one point

you play as vertin, who is the main character, AND UNLIKE MOST GACHA GAMES MC SHE IS HER OWN CHARACTER!!!! with her own personality and motive and story and eughhh shes great i love her so much

theres also events with events stories but i didnt really do much of those yet. im sure theyre really good too though

also we have yuri. like a lot apparently. including a yuri square with doomed yuri and unrequited yuri (vertin is part of it)

I THINK r1999 is also very good when it comes to history and cultures because 1. they literally travel back in time and 2. the characters are all so varied!!!!! idk about the other voiceovers but in the english one they made sure that the characters have accents based on where they're from, and even sometimes speak their own language! (for example vertin and regulus have a clear british accent; schneider and sonetto have some sort of italian accent? maybe?; matilda has a french accent AND speaks french; satsuki has a japanese accent AND speaks japanese; and ect and ect!)

My immediate recommendation is always always always Hello From the Hallowoods. I think it probably counts as horror but I find it incredibly comforting. The characters the narrators follows in each episode rotate in and out but they are returned to. It's a post-apocalypse setting where everyone is dealing with a guy called The Instrumentalist, who kills people and uses their bodies to make instruments which he can then play to pilot their spirit. Okay yeah I see the horror aspect but its so good and so full of queer tenderness. There is some amount of queerphobia espoused by the villains so keep that in mind, but its so worth it.

For comedy, there's Wooden Overcoats, which is about a pair of twins on an English isle who own a funeral home, Funns Funerals. Rudyard, the brother, feels to me like an actually tolerable (to watch, at any rate) Basil Fawlty and Antigone, the sister, is an anxious mess and I love her. The series is finished but it's truly so good.

For actual play, my favorite might actually be Three of Hearts because everyone on it feels like theyre friends making a story, rather than a GM acting as a sort of game engine, if that makes sense. They're not professional actors, to my knowledge, but that doesnt mean in any way they dont know how to write characters in a way that makes them compelling and fun to listen to.

another day, another round of me wracking my brain trying to come up with a good fnaf timeline. this time i came to the conclusion that i should just make an au where i leave out a bunch of stuff at this point if i want to work with my own story 😭

ok this turned into a LONG rant id normally just put on my other blog but as i started here, im just gonna post it here. i also keep forgetting stuff and sometimes i come across a theory/fact that makes me go OOHH im so dumb i forgot. and it changes everything again and its probably happening again here

first, fnaf 2 is where i get stuck every single time. id love to just leave at least the toys out, sorry mangle. second, i just cant wrap my head around the whole "charlie was the first victim" idea because we get introduced to all this where we see the puppet in the toys location and the withereds.. it becomes too confusing for me. is it at the same location? was the puppet with the ogs and the toys were added later? i would say the toys are irrelevant and havent been added until the ogs were withered. anyway, i believe will could have stuffed the kids into the ogs prior to killing charlie, which would make more sense if the puppet was possessed later and then gave them life? whether the toys are or arent posessed is not important to me as much (just confuses me. like if they werent there would it change the story??), or rather it lacks some closure, like the ogs have eventually been destroyed and the spirits let free, but for the other kids (that people say are possessing the toys), we dont even know their names! or how they ended. i always think of the theories how will destroyed the ogs to take remnant from them to use in the funtimes, but nobody ever thinks of the fact that he just gets springlocked right after which would make No sense. the funtimes are an odd thing, i guess you could apply he actually took it from the toys, but why would he? is there proof? if theyre programmed to snatch kids directly, hed have enough remnant and not have to get it from previous animatronics. that said, i believe the SL location and funtimes were made early on, but had to have this kidnap/kill function only after charlies murder because if she was the first and the point of her being the first was that will found out about remnant and possession, he would want to start experimenting with it then. however, i do prefer charlies murder to be out of jealousy towards henry after losing elizabeth, which would mean the funtimes would be existing at this point (because of eliz death). or perhaps the funtimes have been a project of his (i have this little coffin theory. probably dumb, basically just each character is there to hold the body/spirit of each afton family member, baby and ballora are obvs, funfred would be cc with bonbon in the place of the walkie talkie plush to control him.. and foxy for mike, but this doesnt work unless william knows about the posession...) but baby killed elizabeth and he wanted to get her back... wouldnt then finding out about charlie and the puppet be like way too convenient? like hey, this is exactly what you need. ...and how long can a spirit persist within an object until possession using remnant? or this kind of "activation" like in give life.

now this brought me to thinking about springtrap and when exactly was he "revived". as well as other time things.. such as, i thought the spirit "degrades" over time, loses sense of self - but i guess that would apply more after the possession starts. hinted at with scrap baby, she has been baby for so long its no longer elizabeth. but springtrap, and then scraptrap, is william seemingly after decades unless his spirit possessed spring bonnie only around the time they found him? big think

and then back to the general timeline. i cant even pinpoint the very start which bugs me, so it always all starts in '83, (after fredbears existing for a bit) when i assume the bite triggered the nightmare experiments, also closing of fredbears. i think there was a freddys at that time already where the first mci would happen but as i said i like the idea of will stuffing the kids into the withereds. maybe not, maybe i gotta let that go but its just such a nice idea. theyre just there in the back, nobody cares about them, the perfect place. then he can be the one to fix them up into their fnaf 1 glory, but this applies to it even if they were stuffed there much earlier and the withering happened Because Of the decay (probably makes more sense too! so i will try to work with that instead) and you see! no puppet yet. but also no possession. hed fix them up after, put them in their own new location and go ham. as in, he also has the saferoom there with the spring bonnie suit to use. nobody suspects a thing. (i also think the golden freddy/fredbear suit could be there and thats how we got golden freddy) but you see, with this we could just throw fnaf 2 out entirely.. whether we had the withereds or not, it doesnt matter, toys dont bring much to the table other than the bite of 87, no? the puppet could work perfectly in fredbears or freddys, just waiting her turn

see what i have to live with. i already helped myself a ton by accepting that henry is just in jail after the first mci/post fredbears so i dont have to work with him too. he wasnt framed, only in charge as the owner.. and we got fazbear entertainment taking while william has afton robotics. as in, they split at some point (after the bite?) and then he works under fazent in various locations, many times under aliases. Oh which brings me to.

in this year of 2023, they finally made me care about fritz! only because its william. to me. i have no proof! other than the clickteam teaser saying "fritz", but showing dave. (if its not him im fucked.) plus, isnt all we know about him literally just an employee kicked out on the first day for tampering with the animatronics (and smelling bad)? wouldnt william do something like this? get inside, if he cant he will take another identity (a name of one of his victims even) to get in to fuck around with the animatronics. why not just go there as william?? he once owned this place..? WELL now comes another juicy part (oh god crunch is going insane) he got kicked out! he cannot be in the location. why do i think that? midnight motorist. yeah.. okay i now love the idea that rye put out there, in the house its mike and a babysitter or aunt (movie helping with the lore!!!) and the footsteps are golden freddy luring him out (movie again!! its only 2 footsteps because GF doesnt walk!! he floats!!) but that aside, im thinking of the JRs part. this doesnt matter other than a hint at other stuff, metaphors and parallels and such. JR could be fredbears previously, yeah i dont argue with any of that, but it also makes me think of it as a paralell to the toy location. a place he got kicked out of, maybe not just once, perhaps the night he killed charlie he had just been kicked out (for various reasons) which amplified his anger as we see in MM after being kicked out of JRs, ending with him killing charlie (which i think was a tiny tiny bit premeditated in the way he was jealous of henry and his happy little family, now getting this chance) much to think about

note: i dont take anything here too seriously. theorizing is always just fun so if the one person decides to read this and react in a highly negative way, just keep it to yourself. if you have strong arguments against something with proof, do bring them in, i genuinely forget about shit i read like, yesterday. i also cannot "factcheck" everything when after googling i get shit like people on quora telling me that... quote.. william was under the control of the glitchtrap virus since he was 8 years old... umm wrong!! he was forced to eat cement when he was 6!!

okay that was meant to be a closing sentence but i also thought of one more thing. and one more thing!! i was a firm and calm and collected believer of fnaf 1 taking place in '93. then came the movie, making it in the 2000s. and it changed me to the worse! i started reading up on it and found out that its all just a theory that majority latched onto and decided to take as fact. as well as the idea that springtrap was locked in for 30 years. wont factcheck rn but it was apparently 30 years from the first location being closed, not since the springlocking. which means theres no set time between that and fnaf 3. on top of that someone was saying it made more sense for fnaf 1 to take place 10 years after that, so around 2003 instead, and it made sense to me then, so yeahh...

it also ties better to help wanted onward (though fnaf3 happening later would make the previous events more mysterious, why wouldnt they look into the location sooner?) and SB not taking place in like 2050s but 2030s or so (if its true that SB is happening 10 years after the pizzaplex opening). holding onto the game!vanessa is an afton theory even stronger after the movie! i talked about it b4 but had no proof. and so we dont have any literal grandpas making babies, the sooner it goes on the better. if vanessa is ~23 during help wanted, this way shed be born sometime in the 90s or early 2000s (this kinda applies even if HW took place in 2023 right after fnaf3 but since i think it happened sooner then i would prefer to go with the 90s) and. and will could have gotten laid one last time :] and have vanessa. think about it. (yeah how old is he again... it works right? also having to put him into a straight relationship after all of this is criminal, i know. im sorry, i will do better. (lie))

first off i LOVEEE xion so much. whenever i see her get attention and love im so happy. when i see her i have a habit of going "XIONNNN" super loudly.

im putting this under a read more cuz its gotten super long oops

my xion headcanons... well first of all i love every reading of her character as a trans allegory & how people intepret her as either trans or nonbinary! i dont think it was done on purpose but shes been claimed by the commjnity and im so happy about it. transfem xion my beloved. second of all shes autistic TO ME but honestly everyone in soras heart hotel is so thats a given. third of all give me xion with big dark brown eyes or give me death!

what id like to see explored in future games / i fanwork: her identity! we see roxas's frustration and anger about being his own person plenty but we hardly see xion upset at her predicament. i think this is because she wants to do the right thing, not because shes okay with the situation. i really want to see xion's feelings about not having her own identity explored, given that everything about her is based on either sora or his memories of kairi and she was basically created in a lab as a tool for organization 13. she should feel weird about existing in the first place, especially next to roxas and naminé, who dont have the same history behind their creation

in addendum to that, i want to see xions character design change to something more unique. she already has a new outfit, but id love to see her have a new hairstyle (whether she grows it out or just puts it up) so she has something different than a mirror of kh1 kairi's hair. i think ive also mentioned that i think itd be interesting if xion had her own eye color after kh3 (side note its bullshit we never got to see her norted eyes in kh3. she shouldve played a bigger role in the story too but thats another rant) to symbolize that shes her own person now, not a puppet meant to copy sora. lastly she !!! deserves !!! her own keyblade!!! there's so many cool keyblades from days to choose from & theres the weapons from her boss fight - theres no reason for her to still be using the kingdom key and i really hope she gets her own soon.

i keep thinking about what you said about xion not being another "nice" girl character and im like... so true. i dont think xion would be mean i want to go about it in a way that doesnt completely rewrite her character but i think exploring how she copes with her past w/ both organizations & her identity & trauma would be interesting, especially with how it parallels to naminé's own way of coping and dealing with her own trauma. theyre like Shy vs introverted to me lmfao i think xion tries to be friendly but overall she prefers to stay close to the people she feels safe around. i want to see xion be rude but in the autism way where she doesnt mean it shes just not aware. and stuff like that i guess. this paragraph was just word vomit my bad

THE SEA SALT TRIO... theyre seriously the family of all time i love them so much. ill just focus on xion here because this is already super long. BUT AXEL LOVES XION SO MUCH IT MAKES ME SICK THEYRE NOT TALKED ABOUT ENOUGH.. the implication that lea subconsciously keeps his coat on in kh3 so xion (and roxas) can recognize him makes me so emotional. also the fact that lea just clicks with kairi because she also holds a part of xion inside her... AND WHEN HE BUYS HER AN ICE CREAM AND HE DOESNT EVEN REMEMBER WHY HES BUYING THREE. UGH. i love them so much. theyre definitely one of those duos found in the trios that dont get much attention which just draws me towards them more (like riku and kairi). i think lea is absolutely riddled with guilt about the events of days so he never lets xion forget that shes loved. i think xion is touch-averse *except* when it comes to roxas and lea because she feels safest around them.❤️

to end i will discuss roxas and xion . they are like a little orange cat and a little black cat to me. halloween colored. theyre so small i love them so much. i imagine when xion first meets the twilight town gang shes jealous bc roxas has other friends :( but roxas assures her shes super duper special to him and no one else can take her place in his life. they have such a unique bond that i dont know if any of the other characters have with each other. just something so special about those two. when it feels like no one else understands they have each other... and i think that makes for some angst when xion struggles with her own issues that even roxas cant relate to

akeru having a small tattoo on her ankle because it's one of the few 'safest places' for her to have one.

kana; kana and kanjiro being childhood friends despite the odds of how they grew up and talking via walkie-talkies

kanjiro; has a cd player thats burned with old convos so when kana gets super busy (she helped with this btw!!) hes able to listen to her voice and not feel so isolated while training on his own since he didnt really have anyone friend wise outside of kana (collided with previous hc)

arei; i've been obsessed with the idea of her letting her hair down to purposefully tease people that have been staring at her a little too long (in a joking way if theyre already friends) but also she just ends up making like a billion tiny braids with her hair when shes bored... doesnt tie it though, so they all fall out real quick

veronika; as much as she *loves* horror she loves toying with peoples hearts via writing even more. watching how they react to her writing and feeding off it to make it hurt much more in an angsty fic or something. also ocasionally despite her love for lolita fashion; will dress down if she wants to avoid people once in awhile.... she looks nearly entirely different!

akane; literally where do i start??? i have so much for her... but i think my favorite would have to be ironically her not being able to read properly. i mean it's never really said if she went to school school or not; and it's possible utsuros luck reunited them easily anyways... but also having this girl boss of a character and then one flaw; cannot read kjndfgkjn

also the relationship i created with her and shobai even if unintentionally. it started off as a way to include him in the story properly (and not just 'mikados errand boy' type of thing since. obviously my story is different.) but it really grew on me and i hold it close to my heart!

kizuna; it would have to be her giving her classmates free nail painting sessions for the funsies of it, jokingly saying she expects payment but she never actually does! shes accepted her reputation but it doesnt mean she wont have fun with it from time to time

minako; birthday celebrating. making sure to always celebrate kizunas birthday even if theyre struggling with money, if things are tight that month. always makes it work. always sits and has the 'best birthdays ever' even if it's something smaller. with the type of household they come from; you'd rarely expect any sort of birthday to happen outside of a big money purchase as a gift and thats it but no. minako will go to actually attempting to celebrate with a birthday and a girls day.

utsuro; my entire rendition is basically one big headcanon/hj but... picking one for him..... hmmmmmm... it would have to be that he's a terrible cook actually. i've talked about it before a few times i know but its another silly to me for no reason. if you want something more newer i haven talked about....... despite being 'bored with everything and everyone' he's followed along to being info dumped to by akane and the kidsTM... had tries to do their hobbies all at least once. some went better then others......... still physically weak noodle

Okay so this has been said 1000 times before probably, and i will say it again. Because its just been on my mind for a while. Horikoshi has done a good job at bringing into light the injustice and straight up occasional disregard for basic human rights that villains face when being "dealt with" by the heroes in MHA. We see it second-hand through the ideologies'/views and experiences of the league, stain , and other villains we've encountered throughout the story, and this was especially shone down upon in the Liberation War Arc.

What's been bugging me, though, the most really-- as we've seen the story progress from that arc and continue on up to this point; Is the question of like, whether or not Hori actually plans to maybe show us some repurcussion (ik its probably spelled wrong I KNOW.) As in, if he plans for anything to come out of this obvious issue, or if hes just going to go "shits fucked, oops" and not do shit about it. I mean dont get me wrong its his story hes free to do whatever technically but like

At this point, with dabi's capturing, twice's death, spinner probably losing idk im not super up to date, and like literally basically everything thats going on with shigs and midoriya and EVERY OTHER FUCKER. like lowkey i feel like everythings going to turn out like those rehab fanfics you see on wattpad where "everyone is good and happy and the todorokis reunited, shigaraki became the hero he always wanted to be, toga's quirk was turned off permanently ETC ETC" Like.

It feels like an excuse for the heroes to maintain the appearance of these demi god figures that are "holier than thou" that can do no harm and have come to rescue those "tainted" by like darkness or some bullshit. Like, nothings gonna change, it looks like?

I honestly, do want to see Dabi, and Shigaraki, and Toga, And Spinner (really the ENTIRE LEAGUE.) Be happy and healthy and live laugh love and all of that but

Not as some kind of plot device to further give depth or development to their respective hero counterparts

And plus. In some cases, (ahem-* dabi) it just. It doesnt even seem possible, much less realistic.

Like id love to see the two brothers interact, cause, its INTERESTING, and it would be nice to observe their dynamic outside of battle but like, for someone like DABI? WHO BUILT HIS ENTIRE PURPOSE AND LIFE around revenge against his father. ts so ingrained into him that to take that away from him in the form of rehab would probably be like ripping out a part of dabi, that part of him that practically is the foundation for who he is today, like DABI, the guy who "rose from touya's ashes' was literally birthed by the hatred and anger in touya, and your just going to take away his one dream. His plans after killing endeavor was to literally DIE, JUST DIE, AND THATS IT. DIE.

I just dont see how this "saving" theyre trying to do with the villains works out in anyone elses favour but their own. Id love to see me be proven an absolute idiot by horikoshi but also im just not holding my breath. Or maybe i am. Idk. Its almost one in the morning ₩#¥#--(@ i would love to see a good ending for my babys thats written in a way that gives justice to their characters

Note: i will say, though, i probably would ignore everything said in this post if dabi ever got a happy ending, proudly an apologist (/HJ) i just want him to be happy in a healthy way and not in the "gonna kill my baby bro" kinda way for once holy shit

hey!!! just wanted to say how much i love your new update!

tbh, i understand that what taehyung did was wrong. even if he didnt mean to hurt her, he did very deeply by keeping it from her, bc as she said they revealed so much to each other even on the first day they met. that feeling is devastating.

however, my feelings are really conflicted on if the way shes handling it is right either. im never one to condone cheating, but even she admits that shes keenly aware of how genuinely sorry he is—and that she knows he would never do that again. her pain is valid asf, bc he shouldve known better to try to harbor that secret, alongside his friends. that was beyond foul and I can imagine how lonely, confused and absolutely devastated she was during that period. but it also doesnt mean she gets a free pass to inflict pain on him for the sake of punishment or revenge. and at this point in the story, it been going on for a while now.

i think she needs to really self-reflect on if she can get pass this and build up a trust in him again—cause thats a main determining factor of the possibility of them reuniting. otherwise, its a moot point bc it’ll always be the unspoken elephant in the room. its confusing to constantly point the finger at someone for rupturing a relationship, demand they give you space and then get pissed that theyre giving you space. she pushes him away, gets upset that hes respecting her boundaries and then yanks him closer.

he needs to really unpack why he allowed himself to do what he did and why his fear of losing her(even when he already had her) drove him to that point. you cant betray and ignore someone and then say you did it bc you were scared of losing them.

i know theyre just flawed humans, & theres so many layers of complexity w/ these two—especially in regard to taehyung showing his feelings. but i truly think he’s reached a breaking point. it scared her so much that hes starting to become distant, because she already expected him to fight tooth and nail for who knows how long.

they both really need therapy to work through it together(and individually bc they both have issues that may rock their relationship again if it goes unaddressed), or to let each other go completely and move on. bc at this point, theyre both hurting just each other.

I didn't respond to this immediately because I wanted to sit and take my time without any distractions. Firstly - thank you! Always nice to know that a fic has been enjoyed :)

Secondly, I think you make some very good points, including an important one that Dilara isn't perfect either. Not everything she's doing is right - or, at the very least, is the best way to go about it. Wanting to torture him is natural and that's probably why everyone's giving her a pass, but there's definitely a line and that line can be different for everyone.

You actually aren't the only one to catch this: Jimin has been dropping hints about how Taehyung is getting worse, Jungkook reminds her of something she almost did once upon a time, and even Chris, despite being angry on her behalf, acknowledges just how helpless Taehyung must be feeling.

Trusting him again really is the crux of the issue. The time for grovelling seems to have passed, like you said, and that's even scarier because now she has to get beyond the anger and look forward. That's really the only decision she needs to make: whether she trusts him or not. It can be a polarizing decision, but that's the point of writing real, human, flawed characters.

You could be right in that he's reached a breaking point - and she can tell. This thing you said:

it scared her so much that hes starting to become distant, because she already expected him to fight tooth and nail for who knows how long.

This is literally it. This is the whole fic (minus Jungkook) because as long as he was fighting, she didn't have to. Now that he's stopped, it's suddenly down to her and that's too difficult to face. But she needs to at some point or things will just end up going downhill from here.

I don't know about therapy - not because I don't think they need it, but because they don't think they need it. I think in general, both of them have a tendency to romanticise their relationship (Tae a little more, as we've seen) and each other, so the thought of involving a third person would seem a little pointless to them, sort of in a they would never understand kind of way.

Thank you sooo much for this review; it's so nice whenever readers put forward their own interpretations of my fics. I love writing human characters and that will mean that they will do things not everyone will agree with and seeing how that plays out with readers is such a pleasure.

Monogatari is good but also terrible! Senjougahara shouldve gotten with Hanekawa! Theyre made for eachother and goood that sleepover and they just shouldve been gay together... I needed to get that off my chest but now I'm curious, who's your favorite monogatorade girl?

gotta say anon i cant agree with you on this. while i like them together aesthetically their characters are just completely incompatible. monogatari is one of the few anime with a het couple that actually like, put some thought into why theyre together and how they complement each other. senjougahara as a character is closed off and prickly as all hell. she's created a version of herself that drives everyone away to protect herself. you can see this by how she attacks people with school supplies and how her conversational style is ruthlessly insulting. this is canonically a trauma response, and as much as i hate giving credence to a 'damsel in distress' style plot, its often not possible for someone to free themselves from that sort of thing by themselves (despite oshino meme's insistence that people can only save themselves, and nobody can save another). the whole reason senjougahara fell for araragi is because he's the only person to face her and not back down. but more than that, its because his entire personality is his drive to help people no matter how dangerous it is for him. for senjougahara he gets his cheek stapled, for kanbaru he gets obliterated in mortal combat, for tsukihi he also gets obliterated in mortal combat, like hes a guy who doesnt even entertain the thought of letting someone suffer alone when he could do something for them. and senjougahara states multiple times that its because he's that kind of person that she fell for him. and like, of course she had to choose for herself to get better. she had to face her trauma herself, and she continually throughout the series makes decisions to let herself be vulnerable, to stop hurting others, to be kinder. but he's the one who gave her the courage to do that.

meanwhile hanekawa is one of the most passive characters of all time. she doesnt have likes and dislikes, she doesnt have anything driving her except the vague concept of being a good person. in her cat story, she buried the dead cat she found not out of pity for it, but because "its what anyone would do." if senjougahara told her to back off, she would without question. hanekawa by her very design could NEVER do anything for senjougahara. hanekawa could never choose senjougahara because that would mean having a preference, and senjougahara could never choose hanekawa because hanekawa would never try to get close.

HOWEVER. and this is important. senjougahara and araragi have a sort of open relationship where she lets him mess around with other girls as long as it's nothing serious. and i think it would be REASONABLE for her to be allowed to do the same. and i think she DOES this when she showers with hanekawa. BUT THEY COULDVE DONE IT MORE. well. maybe they couldnt have, since hanekawa spends a huge amount of her time abroad and on various missions. but after all that's done, they absolutely should hook up on the reg.

anyway my favorite monogatorade girl..... i have a lot actually. gaen izuko is #1. shes so fucking. unsettling and cute and omniscient. im so so fascinated by her. the fact that they made a character who just goes around saying 'i know everything' (ESPECIALLY as contrast to hanekawa's "i dont know everything, i only know what i know") and then its like. just true?? and it's never refuted?? extremely cool girl shit. other than that, im a huge fan of kanbaru bc she's gay and a really funny character. also a huge fan of her gay basketball rival numachi. also love hachikuji because i find her conversational style incredibly funny. and ononoki is also fascinating to me because of the fact that she doesnt make facial expressions and her voice is super monotone, but shes still very silly and has a good sense of humour. and karen bc of her dedication to good dental hygiene

anyway thanks for the ask anon! nobody talks about monogatari anymore (probably bc i only hang out with lesbians and its an old fanservicey show) and i like getting a chance to talk about it.

hello hello hello ! hope youre doing well :) did you know that mare means sea in latin? though it's pronounced like mah-ray. i remembered this out of nowhere while playing tetris probably and i thought id tell you :] though perhaps you already know! either way! i love when words have meanings :)

its cool to think about also! because a mare is a female horse right? but in greek/roman mythology neptune, god of the ocean, was said to have created horses from seafoam! so maybe there's some connection there? or maybe its just a coincidence? and then you have the word nightmare which your name is from im pretty sure! and it makes you wonder. i mean nightmare is a compound word right? "night" and '"mare." and its parts arent something obvious like with watermelon - its not baddream or antidream or anything like that, it is the word night plus the word horse, more or less. where do you think that comes from? is there some old story about like... a bad horse in the night or smth?

okay i googled it. apparently it comes from the old english word mare, which was a demon goblin creature who gave people scary dreams. and this doesnt have any associations with the word mare meaning horse. huh. the more you know!

i think etymology is soooo cool. like. where words came from. i guess that makes sense - im very much an english and history kid, and that's kind of a combination of the two: the meaning of words and the history behind them. wow

absolutely no worries, i loved reading through this :] yeah the reason I'm so fond of the name mare (even over my other names that i go by which i still love but it isn't the same) is because of all those different meanings. i have a longstanding inside joke with SEVERAL people at this point about me being related to horses, and dreams as a whole are really interesting to me. i enjoy being in forests more than i enjoy being by the sea, but i would without a DOUBT equate my temperament to that of a sea. there is a rhythm in the way that a forest moves and similarly to the sea, but both look different when disrupted and i am much more adjacent to a tempest than anything else

nws!!! i am really slow at getting back to asks because 90% of the time i am REALLY bad at talking and just, remembering to do that, but you're always free to send things here and i'll reply to them whenever i can!

i'm alright as of right now! about to sleep in like, two minutes or something, which is good. physical health being weird as ever but i'll live! thank you so much for all the flowers; i'm actually really horrible with flower meanings even though in theory i love that kind of stuff, it's just a lot to remember and many overlap in a way that's kind of suboptimal. i remember not enjoying doing flower meaning research for old fic ideas of mine but regrettably it's in character for a surprising amount of characters.

i much prefer the whole generalization of purple flowers; that is easier to understand. you are very pink to me but like distinctly cool-toned pink, like closer to purple than red. and also light in tone. can't really explain it but it's a pretty shade i'll tell you that.
