and the fact that he doesn't respond when she says "i can't tell if that's meant to be a compliment" makes it so much more hilarious because he just has to stand there in his shame

Modern setting where Sam coaxes Izzy (somehow) into booking a massage/spa day. Of course it’s top of the line and on Sam’s dime because his husband deserves to be spoiled dammit.

Izzy fusses about it and isn’t too sure about letting some stranger touch him while he’s pretty much bare, but with enough assurances (and to shut Sam up a bit about his sudden health and wellness kick) he goes.

He comes out an absolute noodle. Having a detailed discussion about what he’s comfortable with and exactly what the masseuse is doing made it tolerable, as well as the knowledge that all contact was completely clinical. and Izzy gets worked over so well that some of the knots in his body that he just got used to are gone. Sam has to practically carry Izzy out of there he’s so relaxed. He gets fed nice little snacks and tea (because im a sucker for the intimacy of feeding your partner) and then takes a very long nap.

He still goes back to being tense and baseline anxious, but for a day or two after he just feels good. And concedes that okay, maaaaybe Sam was onto something. Maybe. And if it takes less coaxing to get Izzy into a spa the next time like a year later. Well. That’s just coincidence.
