[doorbell]
Kian: Uh-.. sorry, I think I have the wrong address.
Brynn: No, is right house.
Kian: Oh, do I know you..?
Brynn: Wait here.
[Brynn shut the door after herself, leaving a bewildered Kian to stand outside]
Kian: O-.. kay?
Brynn: There is an unpleasant surprise for you on the doorstep.
Wyatt: That creature-.. I’ll get the dustpan.
Brynn: Mouses do not ring doorbells.
…
Kian: Can I come in? It’s freezing…
Wyatt: It’s practically summer.
Ellis: Babababaaa!
Kian: Is that yours?
[Wyatt scoffed, retrieving Ellis from the immaculate floor]
Wyatt: What the hell possessed you-.. are you insane?! When did you get out?
Kian: Relax! I got out on probation a few years back but it was only for a year, I’ve been a free man for a while now… I even hired a few private investigators-.. it’s all water under the bridge, no one’s watching me.
[Wyatt somehow managed to scowl whilst dubiously raising a brow, surprised by his brother’s forethought]
Kian: Sadie thought it best to check beforehand, you know how thorough she is.
[Wyatt almost wanted to laugh, of course it wasn’t Kian’s idea]
Kian: So, who’s this?
Wyatt: Ellis.
Kian: I didn’t expect you to have a child-.. and another on the way?
Wyatt: People change.
[Kian hummed condescendingly, as though he wasn’t convinced]
Kian: And who’s the delightful woman that answered the door?
Wyatt: You don’t recognise her?
[Kian’s mouth upturned in a nonchalant shrug, not realising he was supposed to]
Wyatt: She used to be a model-.. I presumed you might have seen her on TV or something.
Kian: A model! Well, I suppose at least one of us landed on their fee-.. is that a cat?

Every completed transfer in the 2020 summer window including Havertz to Chelsea and £40m Man Utd signing
This 12 months’s switch window can be like nothing that’s gone earlier than as golf equipment fight the impacts of the coronavirus disaster.
The COVID-19 lockdown noticed a three-month halt within the top-flight marketing campaign, however the season – lastly – completed in late July.
Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech have joined Chelsea already
The switch window formally opened the day after the marketing campaign ended and can run for 10 weeks earlier than shutting on October 5.
Whereas spending could dip because of the results of the pandemic, for everybody besides Chelsea it appears, a bunch of huge offers are nonetheless anticipated this summer season and listed here are all of the confirmed transfers up to now…

A Letter on Justice and Open Debate
July 7, 2020
The below letter will be appearing in the Letters section of the magazine’s October issue. We welcome responses at
[email protected]
“Our cultural institutions are facing a moment of trial. Powerful protests for racial and social justice are leading to overdue demands for police reform, along with wider calls for greater equality and inclusion across our society, not least in higher education, journalism, philanthropy, and the arts. But this needed reckoning has also intensified a new set of moral attitudes and political commitments that tend to weaken our norms of open debate and toleration of differences in favor of ideological conformity. As we applaud the first development, we also raise our voices against the second. The forces of illiberalism are gaining strength throughout the world and have a powerful ally in Donald Trump, who represents a real threat to democracy. But resistance must not be allowed to harden into its own brand of dogma or coercion—which right-wing demagogues are already exploiting. The democratic inclusion we want can be achieved only if we speak out against the intolerant climate that has set in on all sides.
The free exchange of information and ideas, the lifeblood of a liberal society, is daily becoming more constricted. While we have come to expect this on the radical right, censoriousness is also spreading more widely in our culture: an intolerance of opposing views, a vogue for public shaming and ostracism, and the tendency to dissolve complex policy issues in a blinding moral certainty. We uphold the value of robust and even caustic counter-speech from all quarters. But it is now all too common to hear calls for swift and severe retribution in response to perceived transgressions of speech and thought. More troubling still, institutional leaders, in a spirit of panicked damage control, are delivering hasty and disproportionate punishments instead of considered reforms. Editors are fired for running controversial pieces; books are withdrawn for alleged inauthenticity; journalists are barred from writing on certain topics; professors are investigated for quoting works of literature in class; a researcher is fired for circulating a peer-reviewed academic study; and the heads of organizations are ousted for what are sometimes just clumsy mistakes. Whatever the arguments around each particular incident, the result has been to steadily narrow the boundaries of what can be said without the threat of reprisal. We are already paying the price in greater risk aversion among writers, artists, and journalists who fear for their livelihoods if they depart from the consensus, or even lack sufficient zeal in agreement.
This stifling atmosphere will ultimately harm the most vital causes of our time. The restriction of debate, whether by a repressive government or an intolerant society, invariably hurts those who lack power and makes everyone less capable of democratic participation. The way to defeat bad ideas is by exposure, argument, and persuasion, not by trying to silence or wish them away. We refuse any false choice between justice and freedom, which cannot exist without each other. As writers we need a culture that leaves us room for experimentation, risk taking, and even mistakes. We need to preserve the possibility of good-faith disagreement without dire professional consequences. If we won’t defend the very thing on which our work depends, we shouldn’t expect the public or the state to defend it for us.”

The Republic of Ireland started slowly in its Euro 2020 qualifying campaign but nevertheless managed to achieve results. Sports enthusiasts from around the world can purchase the Republic Of Ireland Euro Cup Tickets online to enjoy its stunning performances.
The Republic of Ireland has had great players over the years, and they hope their current talent can guide them to another major competition. Henry is not chosen this time to stop them, but does Mick McCarthy's team have what it takes to reach Euro 2020?
Remaining Fixtures
The Republic of Ireland has two tough games ahead of Switzerland and Bulgaria. Both are at home, which is a considerable advantage, as is the Swiss flag. Two wins out of two here could be enough.
After the two meetings in September, the Republic of Ireland goes to Georgia in October, Switzerland three days later, and ends with a home match against Denmark.
These are the decisive matches against the Swiss and the Danes. These are the two who should be first and second in this group. If Republic of Ireland loses to both nations, they can embrace their hopes of qualifying bye.
But they have more than enough quality in their team to scare the two teams. Especially at home. If the Republic of Ireland manages to qualify, great players will come forward and seek to claim a place on the plane for Euro 2020.
Young Irish talent It's hard to say who will shine this season, but there are so many young Irish close to the first team that could give Mick McCarthy the headache of the team if they manage to sneak into the club. Let's see a few.
Michael Obafemi
At just 19, Michael Obafemi has already benefited from his debut for the Republic of Ireland. He joined the team when he drew 0-0 against Denmark in the League of Nations. He was also the first player born in the 2000s to be awarded a senior cap.
He has all the qualities of a top scorer, but he has been injured for a while and must find an irreproachable form before taking another cap. He must also return by force in the starting lineup of Southampton, which will not be easy now, they signed Che Adams. Definitely one for the future, but he may miss it if he does not play much for Southampton this season.
Troy Parrott
This boy is only 17 years old, but he already arouses the enthusiasm of his fans for the future. He has scored goals for under-17s and 19-year-olds from the Republic of Ireland but has not yet appeared for under-21s. He is so good that we have seen him take a full cap and completely avoid the under 21s.
He does not have time to play the Spurs, which is a slight concern. It's already operational for the Under-23 Spurs season, but it would be great to see how it will evolve in the first team. Will the big stage confuse him? Probably not. Maybe he will have a chance to participate in the Carabao Cup.
If he fulfilled his potential, the Republic of Ireland could have the next Robbie Keane in his hands. Big boots to fill, but he is an incredible talent.
Josh Cullen
Curiously, Cullen represented England at the under-16 level before switching allegiances for the Republic of Ireland. Having played 14 times for under-21s and having played well in Bolton and Charlton in the last two seasons of West Ham, he's now performing well-deserving performances.
McCarthy is not stupid, he knows the talent when he sees it and Josh Cullen has everything you need for a top midfield player. He could continue to be the great Republic of Ireland if he continues to work hard.
Aaron Connolly in Brighton, Adam Idah in Norwich, Caoimhin Kelleher in Liverpool, Jimmy Dunne in Burnley, John Mahon in Sligo Rovers, could also compete for a place at Euro 2020 Kian Flanagan at Crystal Palace and Lee O'Connor at Manchester United. Hopefully Republic of Ireland will reach Euro 2020 and we see some bright young sparks set Europe on fire.

A huge wake-up call: Youngster's harsh verdict must serve as a warning for Palace - opinion
This article is part of Football FanCast’s In The Pipeline series, which takes a look at some of the most promising young talent either linked with clubs or emerging from their academies…
Crystal Palace prospect Kian Flanagan recently expressed his frustration at the current pace of progress through the ranks at Selhurst Park, and his comments should act as a wake-up call for the Eagles.
The 20-year-old – who was reportedly of interest to Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United back in 2015 – spoke openly about his annoyance at the fact that he is now in his fourth season of Under-23 football, and called on the Eagles to loan him out.
Flanagan said: “This is our fourth U23 season. We really shouldn’t be here this season. We should be out on loan, honestly.”
Attacking midfielder Flanagan – who won the Under-23 Player of the Season award last year – may not get an immediate first-team place anytime soon given the fact that even Max Meyer can’t get into Roy Hodgson’s starting XI on a regular basis – the German started just 15 league games last term and has just two league starts this season.
However, another youngster who plays in a problematic position at Selhurst Park does deserve an opportunity and Flanagan’s comments should serve as a warning for the Eagles in potentially scuppering his development – we’re talking about Brandon Aveiro.
With the exciting 17-year-old forward three years younger than the attacking midfielder, Palace must be aware of the perils of allowing the goalscoring talent to sleepwalk into the same frustration, when he could arguably be having an impact at first-team level or indeed learning out on loan.
The Portuguese forward – who was called up to Portugal’s Under-18 training camp this year – scored a hat-trick against Watford just a week after signing his first professional contract with the Eagles back in March.
Aveiro – who is reportedly on Benfica’s radar – followed that performance up by hitting four goals in one game against Birmingham, having earned his call-up to the Under-23s after scoring 14 and assisting 10 for the Under-18 side.
Of course, Aveiro should not immediately be thrown in ahead of Jordan Ayew and Christian Benteke, but the fact that the duo scored just two league goals between them last term proves there are problems in attack for Palace.
Having already demonstrated his potential and attracted interest from a major European club, perhaps Aveiro can provide a solution, whether that’s from the bench or eventually dislodging one of the aforementioned duo after being integrated into the senior squad.
But if Palace continue to overlook their academy prospects by not carving out clear paths for them and instead letting them fester with the U23s, Aveiro will become another talent that goes to waste.
It must have taken Flanagan a lot to openly speak out against his situation and ultimately his employers – that in itself proves Palace need to act on what he’s said.
Perhaps a loan move first makes more sense, instead looking ahead to next season when Benteke’s contract expires. But either way, that career trajectory needs to be established before Aveiro ends up being yet another frustrated Palace prospect.

Euro 2020 – Can Mick McCarthy’s Side Qualify?
Ireland got off to a slow start in their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign, but they still managed to pick up results. Ok, so 1-0 wins against Gibraltar and Georgia, to begin with, wasn’t exactly scintillating, but it’s three wins and a draw in their first four games. That’s a qualification form.
Ireland have had some great players over the years, and they’ll be hoping their current crop of talent can guide them to another major competition. There’s no Theirry Henry this time to stop them, but do Mick McCarthy’s side have what it takes to make it to Euro 2020?
Remaining Fixtures
Ireland have two tough games coming up against Switzerland and Bulgaria. They’re both at home which is a big plus, just like Switzerland’s flag, and two wins from two here could well be enough.
It’s interesting to see that the boys in green are still 4/1 with many bookies to win the group. It might be worth jumping on that as two wins from the next two would see their odds tumble. Especially with Denmark still having to play Switzerland. Bet365 promo codes are awesome, so why not grab one of those if you’re not already signed up with them. Free bets to use on the football? Yes please. You’re welcome.
After the two September encounters, Ireland travel to Georgia in October, Switzerland three days after that, and end with a home match against Denmark. It’s the games against the Swiss and the Danes that are crucial. They’re the two who are expected to be first and second in this group. If Ireland loses to both nations, they can kiss their qualification hopes goodbye. But they’ve got more than enough quality in their squad to give both teams a scare. Especially at home.
If Ireland manage to qualify, there are some great players coming through who will look to stake a claim for a space on the plane for Euro 2020.

Young Irish Talent
It’s difficult to say who will shine this season, but there are so many Irish youngsters close to the first-team action who could give Mick McCarthy are selection headache if they manage to get a run in the side at club level. Let’s take a look at a few.
Josh Cullen
Funnily enough, Cullen represented England at Under 16 level before switching his allegiance to Ireland. After playing 14 times for the Under 21s and enjoying some good loan spells at Bolton and Charlton in the last couple of seasons from West Ham, he’s now putting in the performances that have merited a callup. McCarthy’s not silly, he knows talent when he sees it, and Josh Cullen has all the makings of a top central midfield player. He could go on to be an Ireland great if he keeps working hard.
Troy Parrott
This lad is only 17, but he’s already getting fans excited for the future. He’s bagged goals for Ireland’s under 17s and 19s but has yet to appear for the Under 21s. He’s that good, we could see him grab a full cap and skip the Under 21s entirely. He’s not getting any play time at Spurs, though, which is a slight worry. He’s already up and running for the season for Spurs’ Under 23s, but it would be great to see how he gets on in the first team. Will the big stage faze him? Probably not. Maybe he’ll get a chance in the Carabao Cup.
If he fulfils his potential, Ireland could have the next Robbie Keane on their hands. Big boots to fill, but he’s an incredible talent.
Michael Obafemi
At just 19, Michael Obafemi has already enjoyed his debut for Ireland. He came on as a sub when they drew 0-0 against Denmark in the Nations League. He was also he first ever player born in the 2000s to earn a senior cap. He has all the makings of a top, top striker, but he’s been out injured for a while and needs to get back to some sort of form before grabbing another cap. He’s also got to force his way back into Southampton’s starting eleven, which won’t be easy now they’ve signed Che Adams. Definitely one for the future, but he may miss out if he doesn’t play much for Southampton this season.
Others who may well find themselves in contention for a Euro 2020 place if they get some game time with their club sides include Aaron Connolly at Brighton, Adam Idah at Norwich, Caoimhin Kelleher at Liverpool, Jimmy Dunne at Burnley, John Mahon at Sligo Rovers, Kian Flanagan at Crystal Palace, and Lee O’Connor at Manchester United. Talent in abundance. Let’s hope Ireland make it to Euro 2020 and let’s hope we see some bright young sparks setting Europe alight.

[Ellis fussing]
Wyatt: What were you doing?
Kian: He was whinging…
Wyatt: Probably because you’re mithering him-.. he’s just tired, he’ll fall asleep if you leave him be.
…
Kian: Do you like it, being a father?
[Wyatt shrugged; the last person he wanted to discuss parenting with was Kian]
Kian: I always thought I’d have kids one day, not you.
Wyatt: Well.. it’s not broken, is it?
[Kian snorted derisively, changing the subject after a lengthy pause]
Kian: Leah’s dad died.
Wyatt: So?
Kian: He’s buried next to her-.. did you ever visit?
Wyatt: Why would I.
Kian: I don’t know, to pay your respects?
Wyatt: I didn’t have any respect for her.
[Kian clenched his jaw, though remained silent]
Wyatt: You’re an imbecile if you think she made the right call by choosing you-.. you only gave yourself up because of her, and what did it achieve? Maybe it’s time to move on…
Kian: I have.
Wyatt: [scoffs] Sure-.. if you’re after the good ol’ days, you’re not going to find them here. I’m surprised you haven’t dragged yourself to Kaden, no doubt he’ll be the Arturo of Oasis Springs by now; in fact, he probably already was.
Kian: Why haven’t you?
Wyatt: That’s not what I want.
Kian: We still could-.. I thought we had each other’s backs? We’re all we have now…
[Wyatt scoffed incredulously, stunned into a brief silence, but Kian was dead serious]
Wyatt: When did you ever have my back?
Kian: Erm, plenty of times-.. and I didn’t turn you in, did I?!
Wyatt: Because you had no idea where I was!
[Kian pointed a limp finger in his brother’s direction, but Wyatt interrupted him before he could defend himself]
Wyatt: You don’t know me, you never did-.. you wouldn’t have known where to start if it weren’t for Darien. Who - by the way - is more of a brother to me than you ever were or could be.

Wyatt: You’re not staying here again tonight-.. in fact, I don’t even want you in this country.
Kian: Wha-…
[Kian spluttered over his tea for a moment before regaining his composure and setting it down]
Kian: What on earth do you expect me to do?
Wyatt: I really don’t care-.. whatever you were doing before you arrived?
Kian: Well, I spent most of my probation languishing at the penthouse, but it didn’t feel right.
[Wyatt squinted, perhaps Kian had learned something-..]
Kian: You know, like it wouldn’t be the same until we got everyone back together-.. eh, almost everyone.
Wyatt: [scoffs] That’s what you want to do?
Kian: Don’t you?
Wyatt: All that time wasting away in prison and you want to jump straight back into the lifestyle that led you there?
Kian: We would’ve been just fine if it weren’t for that traitorous redhead…
[Kian trailed off and held Wyatt’s gaze expectantly, as though it were a given that his brother would agree. Wyatt wondered if Kian had conveniently forgotten his own involvement in the downfall of their father-.. and Ashton’s, not that he really knew about that part, or whether he was too brain dead to have noticed amongst the chaos]
Kian: Aren’t you tired of playing house out here? It’s all but forgotten, we could go back and-…
Wyatt: You are not my family.
Kian: But we’re brothers-.. you’re literally the only family I’ve got left.
[Wyatt laughed dismissively; he could’ve vomited at the sight of Kian’s hurt expression]
Wyatt: If you’re suddenly so compelled to act like my brother, then leave-.. get as far away from here as possible and don’t come back, and don’t you dare mention my whereabouts to anyone who bothers asking.
Kian: Where do you suppose I ought to go from here then?
Wyatt: Really? You finally have complete freedom and you’re asking me what to do with your life? Honestly, I’d love to suggest suicide but I doubt you’d have the wherewithal, nor the guts.
Kian: There’s no need for that, my god-.. what’s the matter with you? Father would-…
Wyatt: Father this, father that, he’s been dead for over a decade, Kian; get over it or go and fucking join him.
[Kian scoffed, shaking his head with such similar derision to their father that Wyatt wanted to choke him senseless]
Kian: I should’ve expected no less than your typical hostility-.. ten years and you haven’t changed a bit.
Wyatt: That makes two of us.
Kian: I suppose I’ll be the bigger man as usual and do as you’ve asked, shall I?
Wyatt: [tightly] Mhm, do that.
Kian: It’s a good job I didn’t finish unpacking.
Wyatt: Perhaps you aren’t completely lacking in forethought after all.
[Wyatt clenched his fist around the handle of his mug, fighting the urge to launch it at his brother’s giant, disgusting head-.. he definitely wasn’t worth the mess though, and the tea within was nowhere near hot enough to cause satisfactory damage]

[Darien turned the volume of his phone down only a little, gleefully enduring Wyatt’s continued expletives]
Darien: Are you done?
[Darien’s speaker crackled as Wyatt threw his hand up with an agitated sigh]
Darien: It’s safe and he wanted to see you, I don’t see the problem.
Wyatt: You just wanted to fuck with me.
Darien: Well, that too.
Wyatt: He didn’t even book a rental.
Darien: I think you should let him stay with you; it’ll be.. cathartic.
Wyatt: Fuck off, Darien.
Darien: Gladly.
[Wyatt tutted as Darien hung up-.. what a dickhead. Tossing his phone onto the bed in defeat, he stomped back downstairs; the audacity of his so-called friend was immeasurably irritating sometimes…]
…
[in Komorebian]
Wyatt: I’m gonna let him stay for a few days-.. as long as it’s alright with you.
Brynn: He doesn’t remember me, does he?
Wyatt: Nope.
[Brynn squinted suspiciously; if Kian recognised her, he certainly didn’t show it]
Wyatt: Say the word and he’s gone.
Brynn: Hm, I don’t think he has enough brain cells to be a threat on his own.
Wyatt: Yeah, I doubt it-.. who knows, anyway; perhaps he’s a changed man.
[Brynn briefly returned the mirthful look in Wyatt’s eyes and snorted over her shoulder, whisking Ellis upstairs with a well-practiced air of indifference]
Kian: Putting her in her place, eh?
Wyatt: Sure…
Kian: Tch, women.

[Kian panting]
Kian: Wait, what on earth are you doing?!
Wyatt: Taking a short cut-.. are you scared of heights now?
Kian: No, but I have a modicum of self-preservation…
Wyatt: There’s a path over there.
Kian: Right.
Wyatt: I’ll meet you at the top.
[Kian narrowed his eyes; he wasn’t keen on being shown up, especially by Wyatt-.. then again, he wasn’t keen on breaking his neck either]
…
Kian: What was Brynn’s maiden name?
Wyatt: Why?
Kian: I looked her up, but I couldn’t find anything.
Wyatt: I can’t believe how dense you are sometimes.
Kian: Excuse me?
Wyatt: She’s not a model.
Wyatt: How do you not recognise her? You sold her.
[Wyatt frowned somewhat, watching Kian as the penny finally dropped]
Kian: Erm, we-.. and I don’t remember them all, god.
[Wyatt’s frown deepened as Kian laughed and shook his head in disbelief]
Kian: Go on then, how much did you pay to make her stay?
Wyatt: I don’t make her do anything, and I certainly didn’t pay her.
Kian: So, she’s with you because-.. what?
[Wyatt shrugged, resisting the itch to explain his and Brynn’s relationship-.. at least in some capacity]
Kian: [snorts] Well.. whatever you did, I’m sure father would be proud.
[Wyatt felt sick-.. sick of the sight of his brother and the mere mention of his father being proud of anything he’d done in the past. He wondered if anyone would notice Kian’s pathetic body being launched off the side of the rockface, but he probably wasn’t even worth the effort]

You feel it too, don’t you? We’re the freest we’ve ever been, despite our situation. I’ll never understand why you turned yourself in, by the way-.. and I bet you regret it, but it’s too late now.
I can’t say that I’m proud of how long it took me to decide what to do with my own freedom, but at least I can say that I don’t have any second thoughts.
Obviously, I can’t go into detail about what happened; let’s just say that I tried my best to right our wrongs and leave it at that. No doubt you’ll see or hear about it in the news anyway.
It’s always been a game, hasn’t it? I guess I just got tired of playing.
You were tired too. I knew it, Arturo knew it, your mother knew it; I think everyone did. Maybe I shouldn’t be, but I’m glad you killed her, and I’m sorry for what she did to Leah. I know how much you loved her.
I’m sorry for being cruel to her too, but the fact that she didn’t care almost made it fun; besides, she was never on our side. If anything, we should have been on hers. I’m sure you miss her most of all…
I don’t think I’ll ever know how it feels to love someone quite so much, but that’s okay; I think I ought to be alone.
I won’t be sticking around, nor will I be handing myself in-.. I think you’ll agree by now that it’s pointless. I don’t know when, or if I’ll ever see you again; though I doubt we’ll miss each other much.
I know it’ll be a while yet, but if you ever want to, I think you’ll know where to find me.
