I start teaching my art lessons for @livandchiuartstudio next week and we will begin with a very “VALUEable” lesson! I put together this value reference using our first animal of the session. I also complied images from Jim Harter’s royalty-free black and white images along with more modern photographs of elephants to help the kids to recognize value shifts. Private & Semi-Private Art Lessons • Type of class: fine art • Description: Artist and educator Laurie Brenden offers private and semi-private art lessons in the fine arts including watercolors, drawing, mixed media and much more. A private lesson is for one student. Semi-private lessons are for two students; the students can be siblings, family members, friends, etc. These lessons are available by appointment only and spaces are limited! Please contact the instructor directly for more information or to sign up. • Ages: 6 years to adult • Class Term: September 23 to November 15, 2019 • Day & Time: by appointment ONLY! • Class fee: Private -> $90.00 (for 6, 1 hour sessions) + $20 materials fee; Semi-Private -> $66.00 per student (for 6, 1 hour sessions) + $20 materials fee (*Supply fee depends on media and unit chosen.)

Kids Can Draw: Chibi Monsters • Type of class: drawing • Description: Manga is a Japanese style of comics; one popular aspect of manga is the chibis which are tiny, and often cute. Full of personality, style, and pizzazz we will learn how to draw chibi creatures, popularly known as “pocket monsters”. Each student will be encouraged to develop his or her own anime/manga characters and unique style of drawing. Skill Level, Beginner/Intermediate: No prior experience required. Small group instruction. All supplies are included. • Ages: 8 to 12 • Dates: September 24 – November 12, 2019 (8 weeks) • Day & Time: Tuesdays from 4:30 to 6:30 pm • Class fee: $71 + $25 materials fee

Kids Can Paint: Expressionism • Type of class: painting/mixed media • Description: Expressionism is exciting paintings full of emotions. In this class, students will explore the artwork of six famous expressionists, and then use their works as a springboard to explore art and creativity. Each artist will have an “inspiration” piece based on their style, use of color, etc. However, each student will be encouraged to explore his or her own artistic style, and create their own unique work or art. Skill Level, Beginner/Intermediate: No prior experience required. Small group instruction. All supplies are included. • Ages: 8 to 12 • Dates: September 19 to November 14, 2019 (8 weeks) NO CLASS 10/31 • Day & Time: Thursdays from 4:30 to 6 pm • Class fee: $71 + $30 materials fee

All supplies will be included.

• Ages: 8 to 12

• Dates: September 20 to November 1, 2018 (7 weeks)

• Day & Time: Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:30 pm

• Class fee: $85.00 (includes supplies)

~ TEENS, 12 to 17 ~

Fantasy Drawing: Faeries & Folk Tales

• Type of class: drawing

• Description: Learn how to draw faeries, awesome gnomes, and other creatures from folk lore. Students taking this class will learn some basic drawing techniques plus cool tips and tricks. Each students will be encouraged to develop his or her own fantast charters and unique style of drawing. Skill level, Beginner/Intermediate: No prior experience required. Small Group instruction. All supplies are included.

• Ages: 12 to 17

• Dates: September 18 to October 30, 2018 (7 weeks)

• Day & Time: Tuesdays from 4:30 to 6:30 pm

~ YOUNG ADULTS/ADULTS, 15+ ~

Adult Drawing Studio: Portraits

• Type of class: drawing

• Description: Learn to draw realistic portraits! Explore the wonderful world of art in a small group setting with other adults. Students will learn to draw people using graphite pencil and shading. Skill Level: basic/ intermediate: No prior experience needed. Contact the instructor for supply list.

• Ages: 15+

• Dates: September 20 to November 1, 2018 (7 weeks)

So we did some watercolor floral doodling activity in the art class at the kindergarten. We must be careful with the Covid-19 situation so it’s only two by two kids and the others are give some coloring. Learning to dose the water and observing how the paint react when it touches the paper. It took us two lessons because we needed to wait for the paint to dry. I noticed some of the the kids who focused the most were the ones who usually can’t focus too much. It’s awesome how art and paint can be fun, beautiful,weird but also be therapeutic. Blank Canvases at Gradx OCADU Alumni Lounge

Blank Canvases was hired to activate the children and family area of the OCADU Grad Ex show for the Alumni Lounge! With the help from volunteer art students from Lawrence Park High School and Blank Canvases Artist Educators we created an interactive sculpture installation inspired by the art of Soyeon Cho! Using chicken wire a large frame was hung from the ceiling, art supplies from Currys Art Store were laid out as well as various found objects, upcycled art materials and found objects. Families came in throughout the day and their children were engaged with creating art pieces to hang on the scultpture. Utilizing conceptual art ideas of interactivity, collaboration and community the sculpture expanded throughout the day with texture, colour and unexpected creative surprises.
