K-DRAMA REVIEW: MASK GIRL
Tumblr media
HER:
Kim Mo Mi is the epitome of the ugliness the beauty standards in South Korea regurgitate after their society is done boxing young girls into what they think they should be. Her mom berated her for being the ugly duckling even if she had a beautiful swan for a mother. Why is she so ugly? Do you think you can succeed as a performer with that ugly face? These lines hit home so hard. Whether she had the stage presence and talent to be a performer never mattered. She just was not "pretty" enough.
The portrayal was spot on. I could see and relate to the gradual darkening of her personality because she believed those fucked up opinions and resigned herself to a life of tiresome morning coffees and botched office reports. Her childlike crush on her handsome married boss and her heartbreak when she accidentally sees him fucking the pretty rookie... this is such a cliche, but more or less, this is the truth. I think every twenty-something will know the growing pains of being ugly and feeling unloved or undesirable.
I did not think her choosing online streaming as an outlet for the performer inside her was wrong. It was the only way she could quench the thirst inside her, and as a fellow creative, I know what it feels like to be hollow when you don't. It served to prove an important point because the moment people looked beyond her face and focused on her talent, she quickly gained popularity. The men jerking off to her streams made it all about her boobs, and so did Oh Ju Nam, her sleazy porn-addicted coworker.
The men. Good Lord, the men. I wanted them all to burn in hell. Those fuckers thought they were entitled to her body each and every time they discovered she was "ugly" behind the mask, as if they were doing her a favour by pity fucking her. As if letting them cum inside her was the price she had to pay for their attention and money online. Ju Nam was a man-child whose love meant stalking Mo Mi, taking advantage of her by helping her get rid of a rapist's body, then becoming a rapist himself the moment he feared Mo Mi would leave him behind. I have to protect you. I love you so much. I am the only one who understands you... he said as he forcefully ripped her shirt open and shoved his tiny dick inside. No wonder she chose to take control and stab him with a fucking screwdriver. He died a death befitting him. He was stabbed while cumming inside the love of his life. I have maniacally cackled each time she killed those rapist bastards and felt the bloodlust of feminine rage subside. Vengeance was sweet. Ironically, despite everything, the child born from that traumatic incident brought hope to Mo-Mi's life.
I thought things were finally looking up when she found a best friend in Chun Ae who had an almost identical story to herself. The endearment and affection between them was heartwarming. This is what we mean when we say female friendships are forever. Women sticking up for women is the shit, man. Chun Ae's death was well written, but I would have liked some on-the-road lesbian action while parenting their child. There was some really queer-coded shit going down there. What's more, it's genetic. Later in the series, her daughter also developed a similar relationship with a classmate.
I absolutely enjoyed seeing Mo Mi go ape-shit feral on the gangs in the prison. I was impressed; the dedication to consistently beat the shit out of one of the gang henchwomen every time she got out of solitary confinement was badass. The Queen Bee had no choice but to declare a truce. I never believed Mo Mi had found salvation in the Lord and the Bible because her instinct to protect her daughter from Oh Ju Nam's psycho mother superseded them all. The nuance, emotions and skill displayed by the three actresses who pay Mo Mi at different stages in her life is really sublime. I support women's rights but also women's wrongs. Mo Mi is an icon of badassery.
HER BEST FRIEND:
Tumblr media
Chun Ae's innocent crush on the hottest guy in class backfires in her face louder than a string of firecrackers. That fucker used her as his cash cow for years while sweetly batting his eyelashes. She must have really believed she was helping him, and I am sure he was an excellent liar.
Was it worth posting pictures of his underage drinking, smoking, abuse, school violence, and assault online? Meh, I don't know. Did it spitball into a huge controversy that ruined his whole fucking life as an aspiring rookie idol in the Korean showbiz? Hell to the yeah. Honestly, I don't blame her. It is superb that we do not get to see him abuse the money and fame to sexually assault and extort countless other girls. Men accumulate privilege and entitlement from birth, and somehow it is even worse in the case of these conventionally handsome types.
I don't think she needed to feel guilty about screwing him over. In fact, I was really surprised she still wanted to fuck him, even offering to let him stay at her house until he found a stable job. Surprise! Surprise! That two-faced leech never moved out until Mo Mi and Chun Ae chilled him, chopped him up and dragged his ass to the lake.
He mooched off her so bad while all this shit was happening, and the old woman was creating chaos looking for Mo Mi while Chun Ae tried to secretly protect her best friend. He confronted Chun Ae about the pictures she had uploaded and lashed her with her fucking dog's leash. I cannot express how cathartic it was to see both Mo Mi and Chun Ae desperately clutch two ends of the rope around the fucker's neck and pull...pull...pull until he croaked. Their eyes reflected a fury a long time in the making.
Chun Ae's sacrifice and death at the hands of Oh Ju Nam's mother were perfectly written and beautifully executed. I was heartbroken because Mo Mi had lost the one person who became her true family. Their strength and resilience while replying on each other was a marvel to see. I wished there was more of their friendship or maybe even lesbian shit, but that was too much of a stretch.
HER DAUGHTER:
Tumblr media
Exquisite acting by all the child actors in this drama; even the supposed betrayals and lies felt real enough to be tasted. Mi Mo was portrayed realistically while she lived under the infamous shadow of her Serial Killer Mother, Mask Girl. She had sirens blaring and neon signs everywhere she went to warn off potential kindness by declaring that she was a murderer's daughter. She quit school and moved a dozen times because of that.
I am glad the best friend turned out to be loyal. It was a delightful twist to keep Oh Ju Nam's mother alive and still itching to get revenge. The actress who plays the best friend is someone i have been following online, and I can really see her growth. Not only has she done a splendid job, but she conveyed each and every emotion so convincingly that it didn't snap me out of the story. Not once.
The Grandma choosing to suddenly care about her grandaughter's well-being was a necessary redemption arc for the final climax, but man, she really did suck at being a mother to Mo Mi. The trauma is real, and the struggle hits hard.
Mi Mo is surrounded by the worst adults. I don't think you can call them adults cause in what universe is this mess something to learn by example? Oh Ju Nam's Mom. That psycho bitch. I understand the unfathomable pain of losing a precious child, but she was goddamn crazed. In her blind efforts to make Mo Mi feel the pain of losing a child just as she had when she realized her son was murdered, she makes a fuckery of Mi Mo's life in the most fucked up way. She pretends to be Mi Mo's adult role model, caretaker, and lovable Shopkeeper Granny who gives out free tteokbeokkki... but spreads rumors about her being a serial killer's daughter behind her back. She proudly writes a letter to Mo Mi in prison, saying she should enjoy the taste of her own medicine by watching her destroy her daughter. The AUDACITY, my God! Mi Mo had literally nothing to do with whatever happened, and it is really fucked up to think that a mother could just as easily kill another child just to spread the pain. Regardless of whose child it is, that's still a fucking child. Leave it the fuck alone. I shook my head so hard every time Mi Mo took care of that old hag, celebrated her birthday and sought to make her happy. All this while, there was no way she did not know the child did nothing wrong, and she says as much, but I guess after a certain point, she had come too far to turn back. In her desperation to make Mo Mi feel the same anguish, she fucked with that child's emotions, trust and faith so bad, I was crushed. As a result, that poor thing was betrayed by her so-called granny, who also killed her other granny and her mother, who had broken out of prison to save her. She lost everyone she loved and cared for in one single day except that chubby best friend. She will remember the blood on her hands and the tears in their eyes forever.
Thankfully, one advantage of her best friend's lies was that her parents were not abusive at all and they became Mi Mo's de facto legal guardians, which meant she could try to live normally.
As for Oh Ju Nam's Mother, I have no words. I guess that speaks to Yeom Hye Ran as an actor and her exceptional skill at conveying her character's emotions, however raw and ugly they were. She made it convincingly surreal and so believable that I began to hate her character with a passion. So kudos to her. The character herself was someone I could not relate to. I have lost a dog that was my child, and I loved it like a mother. If my dog was murdered and cut into tiny pieces, I would kill the person who made him that way. I would never be able to kill the murderer's dog. Because the innocents in a case are glaringly obvious no matter how you try to excuse or justify their death. The innocents have the possibility of a life beyond the trauma that pervades yours. Mi Mo could have had a relatively normal childhood if not for that granny's antics. She ruined an innocent's life. I hate her for that.
Moreover, I would be so fucking ashamed if my own son was a rapist who died trying to force himself on a woman. I would be so disgusted. I might have wanted to kill off that scum of a son myself and end the bloodline there. I would disown him, make sure he stands trial and serves prison time and honestly, I would not have blamed Mo Mi if she had explained that she had killed him out of desperation to protect herself. I would thank her for doing something I would not have been able to do myself because such degenerate fuckers do not deserve to live. In the end, the two Mothers, Mo Mi and Ju Nam's mom, made for the perfect pair of anti-hero and villains pitted against each other, with their own reasons for survival and justifications for murder. Their explosive chemistry as actors made the series a thrilling edge-of-the-seat ride I did not get off until I devoured all the episodes on Netflix.
MUST WATCH | MUST RECOMMEND | REWATCHABLE | ADDICTIVE STORYLINE | EXCEPTIONAL CAST | IMMERSIVE ACTING | A FUCKING 10/10

My favorite ships from kdramas - appreciation post (part 2)
I have no idea if you've been waiting for that but I described the last list as part one, so I guess I should make another one. So today is The day. BTS plays in the background, list is ready, I have exam in two days but who cares, let's go!
1. What’s wrong with secretary Kim? - Kim Mi So & Lee Young-Joon
Tumblr media
Let’s be honest. We have Park Min-Young and Park Seo-Joon. It had to work. They had to had crazy-like chemistry, it was meant to be. Whenever there was a kiss I’ve been worried my computer will set himself on fire bc all this hotness. Iconic comedy, iconic character of Park Seo-Joon, iconic romance. Also can we all agree that Park Min-Young have like the best luck when it comes to screen partners? Shit, girl. You must have saved thousands of people’s lives in your past life.
2. While you were sleeping - Nam Hoong-Joo & Jung Jae-Chan
Tumblr media
Second Male Lead Syndrome hit hard with this one. But still not hard enough to stop me from gushing over the Nam Hoong-Joo and Jung Jae-Chan cuteness. I mean, c’mon. Suzy is motherfucker queen and Lee Jong-Suk is so pretty it makes my eyes hurt. Plus I adore that they were just so idk normal? Not perfect like most of the kdrama’s couples. She has growing hair leg, and he can be gross sometimes. SO WHAT?! Welcome to the real world. They loved each other anyway.
3. Innocent man/Nice Guy - Seo Eun-Gi & Kang Ma-Roo
Tumblr media
Man, between all this fluffy couples this one is kinda dark. But that's exactly what I loved about them. She was a bitch, especially at the beginning. He was a the dickest dick in the whole Dickland, Mayor of Dickville. Two sinners, bad, broken and selfish. Raw. Different. Flawed. They were hurting, they've been hurt. The ending of the drama was meh for me but this couple stands strong. And you know that Song Joong-Ki is the only one for me. He just makes me so happy whenever he's on the screen.
4. Touch your heart - Oh Jin-Shim & Kwon Jung-Rok
Tumblr media
They proved love exists in Goblin and now they did it again. Firstly: Oh Jin-Shim is one of my favorite female characters ever. She's just so cheerful and inspirational. I watched this drama when my life was kinda shit, but after watching her journey back to the top I felt great, like I could do anything. Secondly: Kwon Jung-Rok is the cutest idiot ever. He's so charming with this awkwardness of his. And together they create this cute, healthy kind of relationship I stan so much. LOVE THEM.
5. Her private life - Sung Deok-Mi & Ryan Gold
Tumblr media
So like I said before I'm pretty sure that Park Min-Young could create great chemistry even with a plain chair. But holy shit, in Her Private life we're getting whole Mendeleev's table. The story is pretty simple, there's no incredible groundbreaking plot, but Kim Jae-Wook is so hot and works so amazing with Park Min-Young that I didn't even care for the plot. I just wanted to look at him as long as I could. Also, Ryan Gold is perfect boyfriend. I want him for next Christmas.
6. Angel's last mission: love - Lee Yeon-Seo & Dan
Tumblr media
Omg, I shed so many tears on this one. Being completely honest I wasn’t huge fan of Lee Yeon-Seo at the beginning, she was really annoying for me. But Dan, my baby L, was such a cutie I decided to watch it despite of female character and boy, I am so happy I did that. It was truly touching, sad but beautiful story. And mains are just two puppies, so in love with each other, that you have this sudden desire to leave kdrama’s world, go outside, meet someone and being as cute as Yeon-Seo and Dan. Fortunately, this desire passes very quickly. I have another episode to watch, you know?
7. Cheer up! Sassy go go - Kang Yeon-Doo & Kim Yeol
Tumblr media
I know most of you have a very strong Second Man Lead Syndrome when it comes to Sassy Go Go. And let me just tell you: I would die for Seo Ha-Joon. Ji Soo is one of my favs and he did such a breathtaking job in this drama. When I started watching it, I've actually been thinking I would be suffering, bc after watching few videos on YouTube I knew that SMLS is strong with this one. I wanted to ship him with Kang Yeon-Doo. And partly I do, I am. BUT DAMN. KIM YEOL. Like I said, I was prepared for loving Seo Ha-Joon. I was rooting for him even before watching. But then that one scene happened and that was it. I was done. You know which one I'm talking about. "One, you move away first. Two, I move away first. Three, since we're in this position anyway, we do it". It made my heart beat faster and since that moment I was sold.
Btw that plot line with parents was totally unnecessary. Why, writers? Why?
8. Because this is my first life - Joon Ji-Ho & Nam Se-Hee
Tumblr media
This drama is so important for me, you have no idea. I just felt it to the core of my being. And no, I didn't married my hot landlord although i'm not opposed that idea but it's just freaking incredible story about growing up, learning how to do this whole adult-shit, being your own person, being someone's person and finally about finding yourself. GOD, IT WAS SO GOOD. And main couple! UGH. My babies! I know I named Kwon Jung-Rok from Touch Your Heart the cutest idiot ever but in that moment I guess I had to forget about Nam Se-Hee, bc he wins that category. But he was also understanding and respectful and patient and just...kind. Just simply kind but somehow that is everything. Plus I love Kitty. It's the prettiest cat ever.
9. Extraordinary you - Eun Dan-Oh & Haru
Tumblr media
The latest drama I watched and holy guacamole, I loved it so much. And even though I love Baek Kyung with my whole heart I don't even know why because he's an asshole, I just have to admit that Haru and Eun Dan Oh are freaking perfect for each other. THE WAY HE RESPECTED HER. Damn, that's some valuable shit right here. Watch and learn, boys. WATCH. AND. LEARN.
10. Encounter/boyfriend - Cha Soo-Hyun & Kim Jin-Hyuk
Tumblr media
The last but not least. Actually, it’s my fav couple on this list. Noone is able to dethrone Kang Mo-yeon & Yoo Shi-jin from DOTS from being my fav ultimate, but damn I must say Soo-Hyun and Jin-Hyuk were really close to do that. I fell in love with them since the first scene and now, long after watching it, I still think about them everyday. I’m not even joking. Where you can find a man who’ll take cute photos of you and dance salsa with you on Cuba? With whom You could talk about poetry and art? And who will be as cute as Park Bo-Gum? Any ideas? I’m not asking for friend, I’m asking for myself.

KDramas I Wanna Watch
Dramas recommended to me by friends and/or internet posts.
(Summaries aren’t mine)
1. She Was Pretty
Can you over-romanticize a cherished memory from childhood? Ji Sung Joon (Park Seo Joon) was a shy, porky kid who was constantly teased by the other kids for his rotund shape. When he transfers to a new school in fifth grade and meets Kim Hye Jin (Hwang Jung Eum), the prettiest, most popular girl in school, his life turns around. The kind-hearted Hye Jin becomes his only friend and protector — and they become each other’s first love. But then everything changes when Sung Joon’s family immigrates to the United States and then Hye Jin’s father’s business goes downhill, plunging her family from their previous wealthy lifestyle. But that’s not all! Hye Jin’s beautiful looks initially took after her mother. But as soon as Hye Jin hits puberty, her father’s genetic skin condition takes hold and leaves her with reddish facial scars that makes her resemble a raccoon. Fifteen years later, Sung Joon is a whole new person — dashing and handsome and a successful art director — who is transferred from New York to the Seoul office of “The Most” fashion magazine to work as the deputy chief editor. He tries to find his childhood friend, Hye Jin, again. But embarrassed by her current unglamorous appearance, Hye Jin passes off her best friend, the stunning Min Ha Ri (Go Jun Hee), as herself. But when Hye Jin is suddenly transferred to the magazine department at her new job to work as in intern under Sung Joon, how much longer can she keep her true identity a secret?
2. Descendants of the Sun
Some relationships are fated, despite the challenges of time and place.
Yoo Shi Jin (Song Joong Ki), the leader of a Special Forces unit, meets trauma surgeon Kang Mo Yeon (Song Hye Kyo) in a hospital emergency room after Shi Jin and his second-in-command, Seo Dae Young (Jin Goo), chase down a thief on their day off.
Shi Jin is immediately smitten with Mo Yeon, and he asks her out on a date. But Shi Jin keeps getting called to duty when he is with Mo Yeon, and the two also realize that they have conflicting views about human life (he will kill to protect his country and she has to save lives at all costs). They decide to break off their budding relationship as a result.
Dae Young also tries to break off his relationship with Army doctor Yoon Myeong Ju (Kim Ji Won) because her father, Lt. General Yoon (Kang Shin Il), thinks Shi Jin is a better match for his daughter.
Shi Jin and Dae Young are then deployed to the fictional war-torn country of Urk on a long-term assignment of helping the United Nations keep peace in the area. After repeatedly being passed over for a promotion because of her lack of connections, Mo Yeon gives up performing surgeries, loosening her principles somewhat to become a celebrity TV doctor and caring for VIP patients at the hospital. But when she refuses the sexual advances of the hospital chairman, Mo Yeon is picked to lead a medical team to staff a clinic in Urk! There, Mo Yeon unexpectedly reconnects with Shi Jin.
3. Strong Woman Do Bong Soon
Do Bong Soon (Park Bo Young) comes from a long line of women possessing Herculean strength. But Bong Soon can only use her strength for good; if she uses it for her own personal gain or to mistreat others, she can lose her strength forever like her mother, Hwang Jin Yi (Shim Hye Jin). Bong Soon’s twin brother, Do Bong Ki (An Woo Yeon) did not inherit the unusual family strength and is a doctor, but Bong Soon has trouble finding gainful employment as an aspiring game developer.
When Ahn Min Hyuk (Park Hyung Sik), the young CEO of AIN Software, a gaming company, witnesses Bong Soon’s amazing strength against a group of gangsters one day, he hires her to be his personal bodyguard to help him catch a man who has been making death threats against him. Bong Soon has a secret crush on her childhood friend, In Guk Doo (Ji Soo), a police detective who is trying to capture a dangerous kidnapper in Bong Soon’s neighborhood. Can Bong Soon help both men track down the culprits?
4. While You Were Sleeping
A young woman with bad premonition dreams meets two people who suddenly develop the same ability.
Nam Hong Joo (Suzy) lives with her mother, Yoon Moon Sun (Hwang Young Hee), a widow who runs a small restaurant. Jung Jae Chan (Lee Jong Suk), a rookie prosecutor, and his younger brother, Seung Won (Shin Jae Ha), move in across the street. Since she was young, Hong Joo has had the ability to see bad events before they happen, but she is often unable to do anything about it.
One day, Jae Chan has a strange premonition dream about an accident involving Hong Joo and Lee Yoo Beom (Lee Sang Yeob), a ruthless attorney who used to be Jae Chan’s tutor. Jae Chan decides to interfere in the course of events and ends up saving the lives of Hong Joo and Han Woo Tak (Jung Hae In), a young police officer. When Jae Chan, Hong Joo and Woo Tak then start having dreams about one another, they realize that their lives are now somehow entwined.
But can the three discover the reason that they were brought together, and can they prevent the people closest to them from getting hurt?
5. Just Between Lovers (Rain or Shine)
A building collapse ties the fates of three young people years later. Ten years ago, the S Mall collapsed due to shoddy construction, killing 48 people inside.
Ha Moon Soo (Won Jin Ah) was there with her younger sister, who perished in the accident. Lee Kang Doo (Junho) was there waiting for his father, who was an electrician doing work on the building. Seo Joo Won (Lee Ki Woo) was helping out his father, who was the head engineer of the building. Moon Soo, Kang Doo and Joo Won survived the horrible accident, but their loved ones did not.
Years later, Joo Won is an architect who is working on a new project to replace the former S Mall. With her keen eye for detail and sturdy building construction, Moon Soo ends up working for Joo Won on the project. Kang Doo works odd jobs to get by and ends up working at the new construction site.
How will they each deal with their respective pains as they are reminded of the event that changed all of their lives so profoundly?
6. Father Is Strange
This is one of those things that can disrupt a seemingly normal family. Byun Han Soo (Kim Young Chul) lives on the outskirts of Seoul with his selfless wife, Na Young Sil (Kim Hae Sook). Their bustling lives center around his small diner, “Daddy’s Snack Shop,” and their four adult children, Joon Young (Min Jin Woong), Hye Young (Lee Yoo Ri), Mi Young (Jung So Min) and Ra Young (Ryu Hwayoung).
Joon Young tries not to disappoint his parents as he has been unable to pass the civil service exam for five years. Hye Young is the most accomplished as a successful attorney who has an on-again, off-again relationship with Cha Jung Hwan (Ryu Soo Young), a television producer-director. After years of trying to land a job, Mi Young finally lands her dream job as an intern for Gabi Entertainment, only to discover that her high school bully, Kim Yoo Joo (Lee Mi Do), works there as a team leader. Ra Young works a yoga instructor and falls for Park Cheol Soo (Ahn Hyo Seop), who has absolutely no interest in returning her attention.
The close-knit Byun family is thrown into turmoil when Ahn Joong Hee (Lee Joon), an idol-turned-actor, shows up one day and claims that Han Soo is his father. Joong Hee is widely ridiculed by netizens as a robotic actor, but he is determined to earn respect by landing a role in a highly anticipated miniseries about a father-son relationship. But in order to conjure the emotions needed for the role, Joong Hee decides he needs to get to know the father he believes abandoned him and his mother 35 years ago.
Will Joong Hee’s appearance threaten to reveal a deeply buried secret and otherwise disrupt Han Soo’s happy family life?
7. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo
What else could there be to life than barbells and heavy weights?
Kim Bok Joo (Lee Sung Kyung) is a weightlifting phenom who has only focused on barbells her entire life while growing up with her father, Kim Chang Gul (Ahn Gil Kang), is a former weightlifter. She attends Hanwool College of Physical Education, a university full of top-notch athletes who are driven to succeed in the hopes of representing their country in national and international competitions.
Bok Joo went to the same elementary school as Jung Joon Hyung (Nam Joo Hyuk) but reunites with him in college. He is now a competitive swimmer who is having trouble recovering from the trauma of being disqualified for a false start in his first international swim competition.
Song Shi Ho (Kyung Soo Jin) is a fiercely competitive rhythmic gymnast who won a silver medal at the Asian Games when she was 18, but the pressures of her sport drive her to break up with Joon Hyung. Bok Joo’s tunnel-vision life starts to change when she falls in love with Joon Hyung’s older cousin, Jung Jae Yi (Lee Jae Yoon), a former athlete who became an obesity doctor after suffering a career-ending injury.
Will Bok Joo learn that there is more to life than weightlifting?
8. Queen In Hyun’s Man
Every actress hopes that an opportunity will come along to play an iconic role that could bring her out of obscurity and make her a star.
For Choi Hee Jin (Yoo In Na), that opportunity is in a television drama playing the role of Queen In Hyun (Kim Hae In), who was deposed during the Joseon Dynasty as King Suk Jong’s (Seo Woo Jin) consort by the scheming actions of Lady Jang (Choi Woo Ri). But Hee Jin’s modern-day world collides with that of her character in ways she doesn’t fully understand.
Kim Boong Do (Ji Hyun Woo), a scholar from the Joseon era, is mysteriously transported 300 years into the future to modern-day Seoul and comes into Hee Jin’s life as she is preparing for her career-making role. Boong Do not only knew the real queen but also supported her reinstatement.
Was Boong Do brought to the future to help Hee Jin bring some authenticity to her role as the queen?
9. Madame Antoine
Can a very observant woman outwit a psychotherapist? Go Hye Rim (Han Ye Seul) operates the Madame Antoine cafe on the first floor of a building that also houses a famous psychotherapy clinic on the top floor. Hye Rim uses her keen intellect and heightened senses to also work as an adviser to psychotherapist Choi Soo Hyun (Sung Joon). But unknown to Hye Rim, Soo Hyun is running a top-secret experiment on her “ideal type of man” with the help of his younger half-brother, Choi Seung Chan (Jung Jin Woon), and clinic employee Won Ji Ho (Lee Joo Hyung). But unknown to Soo Hyun, Hye Rim also is being paid by a mysterious man to get a hold of Soo Hyun’s valuable experiment files. What is Soo Hyun’s true experiment, and will Hye Rim help him or hurt him in his research goals?
10. The Guardians (Lookout)
The Guardians tells the story of a group of people who team up to serve justice themselves after losing their loved ones to criminals. The group consists of a detective, prosecutor, hacker, and an extremely shy person. They want to give these criminals the punishment that they deserve, and take matters into their own hands as the corrupt justice system in South Korea fails to capture the culprits.
11. Circle (Circle: Two Worlds Connected)
A sci-fi mystery drama that takes place in both the year 2017 and the year 2037. In 2007, twin brothers, Kim Woo-jin and Kim Bum-gyun, witness an alien arrival that brings about a huge change in their lives. In 2017, Kim Woo-jin (Yeo Jin-goo), now a college student, notices that a series of suicides in his university is somehow linked to his brother, Kim Bum-gyun (An Woo-yeon). While in pursuit of the case, he meets Han Jung-yeon (Gong Seung-yeon), another college student who is investigating the serial suicides. In 2037, South Korea is now divided into General Earth, a heavily polluted place where crimes are rampant, and Smart Earth, a clean and peaceful city free from crimes. Kim Joon-hyuk (Kim Kang-woo) is a crime detective who tries to get into Smart Earth to investigate a case of twin brothers who went missing in 2017.
