Again, this is not rocket science, you can read the manga and easily tell how much work Kishi put into it and how seamless it was, for the most part. You hardly need interviews, his work speaks for itself. But if you don't get the work, cuz evidently you don't, then read the interviews, since you rely so much on them anyway. Perhaps it will break those flawed and ignorant preconceptions you entertain without a grain of accountability. No story comes out of oblivion. For a story to be good and believable, a lot of thought and work needs to go into it. Everything is worked out properly. Just because YOU don't get it, doesn't invalidate the actual story. And you really don't get it.
SNS deniers are embarrassing af. Like I just can't take you seriously, no one who actually gets storytelling will.

“Naruto is the main character, so there’s similarities between us. I love ramen. I didn’t do well in school and felt a sense of inferiority. When Naruto said “I’ll become Hokage!” people around him made fun of his dream. When I was a child, I said “I’ll become a mangaka!” without any basis. People told me “there’s no way that’s happening!” But unlike Naruto, I didn’t have the confidence to respond with “it definitely will!” instead, I just whispered to myself “But, it might actually happen…” — Kishimoto

I think about this every day, it makes me cry I’ve never understood a character like I understand sasuke, I’ve never felt so connected with a character like I feel I am with him, I’ve never cried so much for a character like I do for him, not even close.

It started with a meeting between a rookie manga artist and young editor, Naruto: The Beginning! The manga we love and know has reached it’s finale, but the insight and knowledge from the key people behind it continues. In the latest instance, Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto and founding editor Kosuke Yahagi come together to discuss the the journey of the Naruto series from serialization to worldwide phenomenon! Take a look at the fifteen question interview, originally posted in Jump SQ magazine and recently in the American version of Jump. When reading, please keep in mind it was conducted BEFORE Naruto’s official conclusion on November 10, 2014.'

There’s a panel depicting Sasuke and Sakura from behind, but the editor in charge said “Since Sasuke’s face isn’t shown much in the final episode, how about facing this side instead of his back?” Thank you for your suggestion I thought, and immediately turned their body to the front.
When I showed the corrected page to Mr Kishimoto (the editor in charge) he took the trouble to draw a revised proposal for the last page, which was almost the same composition as I had originally drawn. It was the same with Sasuke and Sakura’s back.

I don't want to be disrespectful, but I'm also curious to know if you find something off in the way Kishi talks about his family? He said he was surprised that a lot of people expected Naruto to end up with Sakura and that even his wife was angry over the fact that they didn't end up together. He tried to convince her that Hinata was modeled after her, but she caught onto the fact that he was lying. (Doesn't his wife know that he basically wrote a tragic gay love story?) Didn't he also say that she was like Kushina? But Naruto is his self insert? And Boruto is a message to his son? (Please correct me if any of this information is wrong). Do you think he's even divulged the true story he was writing to anyone? I don't know the writing process, but do you think his editors or assistants even know? I guess I'd just like some perspective or to be told that I'm wrong because the stuff my mind is coming up with just makes me think Kishi must be living a lonely life
Heh... You too thought all these things, Anon??? Well, I too gave a thought and then I ignored it altogether...
However, Naruto is Kishi's Self-Insert... A Fact which everyone knows, even Japanese readers made fun of that many times.
Firstly, He said to his wife that Hinata was modeled after her... But an interview later he said Hinata was nothing but her b00bs.😶
Secondly, Didn't Kishi made both Sakura and Hinata to be those shallow girls who never understood anything about their Husband as to who they are and how they feel deep inside??? But His wife who also couldn't Pick up/ Understand the real story his Husband was writing all along is weird as fuck for me. [[Sorry Kishi!! That’s so weird to me]]
I mean, she doesn't have to find Gay Subtexts and ship SNS but atleast she could have found out a simple fact that Sakura is totally irrelevant to the story. Right???
Okay, Let's forget about SNS. But why Kishi always says it's uncomfortable/creepy to date with the female characters that he created??
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't know why it's creepy to date with a Girl, Hinata but he don't feel shy to date a Boy, Shikamaru🤔🤦🏻‍♀️
That’s kind of spooky...!!!!
I also found another thing to be hilariously weird... But take this as a funny coincidence or a simple joke... Or whatever suits your preference.
So, in December 2013... He gave this following interview..
Tumblr media
He said he wanted to go Honeymoon...
In 2014, that is right after the Manga ended...
Tumblr media
He still said he wanted to go on a Honeymoon.
But in 2015, New York Comic Con...
Tumblr media
Even the Interviewer himself asked about the Honeymoon to which he deflected it by citing 'School' as a reason XD XD XD
This reminds me of...
That time Naruto always showed his Interest in Dating Sakura...
Tumblr media
But when she confessed him...
Tumblr media
He rejected it🤷🏻‍♀️
Hilarious.... Coincidence (???).
Do you think he's even divulged the true story he was writing to anyone? I don't know the writing process, but do you think his editors or assistants even know?
Can’t say for sure whether he divulged it to his Friends or Family. But When it comes to writing process, He couldn’t have been keeping it secret from his Assistants or even from his Editor forever. My hunch is that not everyone (even his Assistants) would have picked up the Subtexts from the Get-Go. Atleast Not in Part 1.
They might have very well taken that Accidental Kiss as another Joke and Sasuke dying for Naruto is just a basic Shonen/Chinese novel Concept for Brothers & Friends. Not something specifically Romantic.
But as the series progressed further and further or at least by the end of VoTE1, his Assistants and Editors would’ve found out what he was trying to write. There’s no way that they could be Oblivious beyond that point.... And not for 699 chapters.
Tumblr media
Look at this.
This interview was from a Fanbook that was released around 2008 or 2009, I don’t remember exactly when. But The Author was trying to get a Green Signal from his Editor to use Reverse Harem no Jutsu in his Manga. Well, if that isn’t an Important thing or it's just another Joke which doesn't mean anything, then he didn’t have to be this persistent, you know. And it’s precisely because of it’s Controversial Nature, the Editor refused outright for all those years.
Do you think that The Editor or Those Assistants didn’t know anything about any of this???
Of Course, they do.
My guess is that, his Family members might have thought that Kishi was writing some ‘intense’ friendship between Naruto + Sasuke and nothing more... Or they didn’t bother to ask him further as to what's going on with his Story Or they are not at all interested in what he was doing... That we will never know.
But what piqued my curiosity was this...
Tumblr media
“I had almost no friends”
But It feels like he is projecting his true self most of the times... He started out as someone with no acknowledgement, No friends... He failed many times before he got a chance to prove himself as a mangaka... Finally he became a Successful mangaka... And then he casually said that Boruto movie is all about Parent-Child love because he missed spending his time with his Children since he was busy drawing Naruto Manga just like Naruto not spending his time with his Children...
In that Parent-Child movie, we know that Boruto is the Child... But who is the Parent??? Because that movie was all about Sasuke and Boruto + Naruto.... Man!!! More and More Questions...

I hope I’m not coming off as rude but I think you will enjoy a longer, healthier life by sparing yourself the headache and blocking that person and moving on. They clearly have a chip on their shoulder from no one online clapping for their whiteness
Oh I'm done with them after that lol I just find it mind boggling sometimes people can be given Names of Color, then portrayed by whites and people don't care but that's just part of the years-long chip on my shoulder with people about whitewashing anime or turning to the whitest interpretation by default as if it's entirely harmless especially to Asian Americans who are most marginalized by this type of interpretation when so much more work can and should be going to us 🤷🏻‍♀️

Btw Araki uses the word 'Utsukushi' for beautiful men, which is the same term Orochimaru uses to describe Sasuke.

Anti SNS Sasuke Stans - Remember, Kishimoto comes from a very small village and is from a different generation altogether; so the odds of him penning anything even close to the “sexual categorizations” of the post-modern western sexual-domains are less than the second coming of Christ.

"So for me, brotherhood and friendship are the same. In that sense, I am glad that I was born with a twin (Seishi Kishimoto). The prototype of Naruto and Sasuke's friendship was me and my brother."
Masashi Kishimoto interview for ENTERMIX Magazine Interview (2015)
It has been translated by a fan, so I've kept the japanese version, feel free to correct it. But I think he conveys his thought crystal clear with no ambiguity.

Akira Toriyama recently passed away. He was Masashi Kishimoto's biggest influence for Naruto. Without him the series wouldn't exist. Kishimoto said as much in an interview with ANN during NYCC. We owe him so much. Thank you for everything, Akira Toriyama.

my thoughts on this hxh ABCD mess
Being a Togashi fan is such a roller-coaster of emotions. I think I went through all the stages of grief in only one day.
Half of me believes he's trolling.
To be honest, it's better to just take it with a light heart. Togashi is known for joking around about himself, his health and his own story. (I wasn't in the fandom at that moment, but I wonder how everyone reacted when he said everyone was going to die). I consider ending D to be so uncharacteristically him for so many reasons I could talk for hours about it. I find it ironic how he gave a stereotypical-shonen-like ending when he talked several times (even in this interview) about how he likes to surprise himself (and his readers) when he writes. Some other times he explained he likes to play with these shonen stereotypes and just do something different. I mean, he's been doing it since the beginning of his career.
And I'll be honest, ending D sounds like a mockery of shounen.
(And I feel a bit dumb taking this so seriously if he's joking.)
(Though, this also may be the case of "the boy who cried wolf" and he's actually saying the truth this time.)
The other half of me thinks he's being honest.
If he is actually giving us a back-up ending, I find it incredibly sad. Not only because of his health, but also because he felt pressured enough to give us an ending, no matter its form and no matter if it's an ending he doesn't even consider anymore. He shouldn't have been on that position.
It is important to take into account that this is not an ending he wants or even considers anymore, it is an ending we can take if he's not able to finish HunterXHunter. We need to realize there's a lot of circumstances we don't know about or may not be considering for him to give us this ending as an option at that moment. And what type of ending too.
I seriously want for him to be able to finish Hunter X Hunter the way he truly wants, not worrying about anything else. He's thinking about three plausible scenarios that may see the light of day or not. And no matter what he ends up choosing, he should choose whatever he wants. It's his story, no ours. And it may even be his last story (I know it's sad, I want him to keep on writing forever, but it's true). Honestly, a part of me wants him to choose the A scenario because that's where seems to be less drama, but actually I want him to choose the C scenario. Even if that ending is Gon married to a lizard with beautiful lizard-babies in the Dark Continent. And that's because that ending is what he would actually want to do with the story.
(I really am curious about it, though. I know I wouldn't be able to guess even in a million years, but I'm still curious. And I so want to read the whole interview and see the whole episode, since there were more questions about other things.)
For the shippers
I know this feels like a punch in the gut or something even worst. I felt it too. And it's totally valid to feel like we do and not agreeing with ending D. Even as a non-shipper because what do you mean, Gon did what?
Everyone who follows me knows I'm a proud Killugon and Leopika shipper. And I will keep on being one even if Hunter X Hunter transforms into Boruto and I have to see Grandpa Gon (the more I say it, the more it sounds like a joke).
Honestly, I always considered the gay ships were never going to be explicitly canon.(Kishimoto traumatized me). Not because of lack of material, but because there's a whole context and a lot of external circumstances we sometimes forget about (and Kishimoto traumatized me). There was a reason why Togashi couldn't make his queer manga in the 90s, which, I'm sorry, I don't consider it to be that long ago. And there is a reason why he can't explicitly say that characters like Pouf or Hisoka are gay (despite being totally obvious and them being villains).
I still find it admirable how Togashi included so many queer elements in his stories and got away with it. And he's a mangaka that does shonen. And not just any shonen, a battle manga in Shonen Jump. (He included a trans man in Level E and made him transition. The way Togashi explains some things about this character may be a bit problematic, but Togashi still did this). And those queer elements are still there and are still as canon as when he wrote it the first time. Pouf is as gay as he is dramatic. And Ging and Pariston still have that sexual tension (and I'm 100% sure they fucked or they are going to fuck in the near future or both). And Killua is still the queerest boy I've seen in the longest time.
Sometimes, I think there's a possibility of Killugon being canon. But only because of Togashi's history and tastes. He may feel a bit rebellious and just go with it, he's so unpredictable that I'm always expecting anything and everything from him (I mean, he did what he did with Hisoka and Illumi and so many other things). However, he's an introvert, I'm not sure if he actually wants the attention he would get if he actually goes with it. And that is something we should also respect. (I do think the most plausible option is Killugon to be as ambiguous as they are now.)
In relation to ending D, I don't think we should worry that much. At the end of the day, it is an ending he doesn't consider anymore. (At least we can sleep well knowing that the ending he wants to do doesn't have to do with Grandpa Gon). What's important is what he writes and does in the manga. That is what speaks louder than anything.
Though, I do think it's going to be a pain in the ass interacting with other fans. I'm not looking forward to it. (At least they are going to stop saying that Kurapika will die, I hope!). What I'm looking forward to is the new Killugon content in the fandom.
My personal take
Gon =/= Ging. I could say a lot about this, since one of the things I love the most about Hunter X Hunter is what he did with these two and Gon's arc, but I think this is clear enough.
So!
After saying all of this, I think the only thing we should consider as canon is the manga. If he doesn't write it, it didn't happen.
If he's saying the truth, he may be thinking about how to finish Hunter X Hunter sooner or later. Even though so many fans say that they want an ending, I feel like we are not ready. Not even for Gon marrying a lizard and having beautiful lizard-babies in the Dark Continent.
I hope I was coherent enough. I have no answers, only thoughts and thoughts! I feel like we can only speculate and ending D is so confusing because how did we even get there?
I may be going through all the stages of grief again tomorrow, but I wanted to share my thoughts (at least partially). I may erase it if I feel too uncomfortable, but yeah!
Conclusion: Let's just take it with a light heart and wait to see what happens! (I know it's hard).

Masashi Kishimoto: “I thought, if I don't do something the manga will be over in ten weeks! My editor suggested giving Naruto a rival. That person became Sasuke. Then I decided I needed a heroine and created Sakura. Suddenly, it became a lot easier to figure out what should happen next!”

Bucchigiri Charcter Names Interview Question
From an interview with Utsumi, it turns out that Matakara's name is just a play on words with magic. The Japanese word for magic is Mahou and his name can be read Maho.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Q: Where did the character's names come from? A: They were mostly from the story writer, Kishimoto, but they are dirived from the tale of 1001 nights. Arajin is of course Aladdin, Matakara is "mahou = magic", Zabu is "flying carpet → zabuton". However, only Mahoro doesn't have anything to do with the tale of 1001 nights (lol). All of the ateji is inspired by the yanki use of 夜露死苦 (read yoroshiku which means please treat me kindly but the characters mean night dew painful death). As in the title ぶっ契り(Bucchigiri, serious pledge) マジ(本気)フレ (majifure, true friends, but can be imaginary friend) things like that (lol).
(Animage April 2024)
Also, sorry.... The 契り is definitely from making a agreement/pledge (契約 keiyaku) with a genie but I laughed when I looked at the dictionary.
