Since we're here, we might as well share some of our current more demo-focused theories. No screenshots, since we grab those from the game in the moment, but there's this one particular star-headed boss that drops a star pendant (which makes Tears vanish).

This may be coincidence, but with Sadnesses being formed from the king's former victims, we do wonder if it might have some sort of link to that dandelion-headed fool that we've seen in the trailer and the end of the demo (and around Tumblr before we blocked the ISAT tag to avoid spoilers).

Our question is this: provided that a Sadness can be formed from one who is still living, or from one who is merely Cursed and not dead, would it be possible for that star-dog boss to have been formed from them? A remnant of them, whatever that may mean. Is this feasible, would it be more of an abstract link, are they simply linked in symbolism with nothing more tangible? We feel like the designs are similar enough that there must be some link, but we don't have enough information about the nature of Sadnesses or their formation to confirm or deny anything right now.

i know these are after 10 pm feelings but i truly am so sad that i don't have the motivation or time to draw as much as i used to and i'm sad that tumblr's culture has deteriorated so much bc now there's really no point in posting art here anymore even when i do draw

That could definitely be it! I also think that most of them are simply not mature/informed enough to handle some of the meta posts that get popular around here, because those are often so incredibly specific and positive (as they should be, that’s half the fun) about certain things (not) happening that only critical thinking can save you from getting too invested in it/taking the predictions at face value.

I saw a post going around that said a worryingly large percentage (I can't remember the exact number) of US adults under 30 are reading at lower than middle-grade level, and quite honestly that's very noticeable in modern fandom too, I think. Critical reading of text and media is a learned skill, but if you're not used to engaging critically with the content you consume, it's much easier to get swept up in all the fandom content and not manage your expectations. I've also written on here several times about how I heavily dislike the way some people write meta or spec in the tone of "we know this will happen" when it's something that they pulled out of thin air. If it's a big blog doing it, chances are a lot of people will take them at face value.

(And ultimately that's on the people taking them at face value and not on the blogger writing their spec, but I still think it's something people should keep in mind while posting.)

#bugs are great but honestly I might like plants more #side note a really fascinating part of this latest trip to southern california was watching the biomes change rapidly over short distances #based on various environmental factors #like elevation temperature precipitation #like drastic changes #the mojave desert is at a higher elevation than the neighboring colorado desert #mojave desert is colder + harder soil -> difficult for some plants (cacti) to get enough water #mojave desert is full of yuccas and joshua trees with sparse cholla cacti (much more tho) #colorado desert has this whole section full of cholla cacti #the joshua trees disappear #and agave also starts growing #it’s super super interesting #other desert south of joshua tree national park was full of ocotillos #and then farther south you get into some wet mountains #wet as in suddenly waaay more greenery which comes from more moisture #the landscape over there is so fascinating I love it #oh there’s also torrey pine state park in the northern part of san diego #only one of two places (other is an island) that have torrey pines #which are specially adapted to low water environments and have little grooves in their needles to help them collect water from the air #it’s so cool!!!!
