Harpy eagle, the largest eagle in the world looks like a person in a bird costume, but judging by the size of his talons, I wouldn't want to make fun of him face to face. They live primarily in the upper canopy layer of tropical lowland forest and are considered "endangered species" in Central America due to the rapid decline in their numbers as a result of deforestation. Less than 50,000 of them can be seen over the world.
Harpy eagles have a hearty appetite and enjoy munching on a variety of monkeys, tree porcupines, sloths, coatis, birds, snakes, and lizards.
The world is full of beautiful birds, some of which can be quite large. In this article, we have listed 18 of the largest birds in the world.
Which of the over 10,000 distinct bird species are the largest? We’ve already discussed the uncertainty of measuring size: should we use length, weight, or how much bathwater they can replace?
Since we just discussed the 18 largest flying birds in the…
Each week I plan to feature an amazing creature, admiring God's fantastic artistry. Hopefully it’ll brighten someone’s day to see something new and interesting if they haven’t seen it before. : )
Happy New Year! The Greeks were thought to have based the mythological Phoenix on the now extinct Bennu Heron (Ardea bennuides), so to kick off 2023, it feels fitting to feature a variety of gorgeous "living phoenixes" - extant herons from around the world. - 💕

The Goliath heron
Scientific Name: Ardea goliath
Region: Around lakes, wetlands and swamps throughout central Africa
Size: About 3'11"-5' (~1.20m-1.52m) tall, with a roughly 6'1"-7'7" (~1.85m-2.30m) wingspan
Interesting Notes: Since the extinction of the aforementioned Bennu heron, the Goliath heron has remained the largest living heron in the world. Like other herons, it catches fish by "spearing" them with its long bill; however, sometimes the process of sliding the fish off its beak and setting it down so it can pick it up again to eat it takes so long that other birds will swoop in and steal their meal. : /
Finally getting to the latest entry of whale weekly and honestly Ishmael I get it. If I saw an albatross drop out of the sky and spread his wings at me I would also lose my mind (positive).
Fun fact for everyone who doesn’t know: various subspecies of albatross are in the running for the largest wingspan of any flighted bird with an average of 10-11 feet. These are huge beautiful birds, and while it’s smaller counterparts aren’t quite as large, they still easily outclass plenty of other seabirds out there.
Would you consider setting up a patreon? I know it's a bit risky and admittingly I don't know all the ins and outs of art being a large source of income, but with your following maybe you'd be able to make enough to be able to dedicate more time towards art and less towards another job?
Of course it's your life n you gotta do what makes you comfy!! I'd personally pledge in a heartbeat if you did set up something like that, love your funny squits :>
EeeeEEE I've considered it before, but im pussy 🥺 Not because I don't want to do Patreon, rather... it'll be rather stressful to get started.
I can't quit my job upon making a Patreon, unfortunately. I would need to wait until Patreon makes up for my job's wage before I could dedicate my entire time to art, and I'm very uncertain of if/when it would happen. Until then, I would have to juggle both incomes... I love working, but not sure if I could make that haha
I would love to do it though, really!!! There's a LOT of sketches and wips that I don't post in attempt to keep my socials cohesive lol (i.e I sketched the next page of Emilio and Rocco's story years ago, but didn't finish so didn't post it)
Thank you for being interested!! I'm happy you like my dorky lil' babies! I love drawing them so much...!
If anyone else is interested in a Patreon, please let me know! If I see there's a good amount of people interested, it might push me to stop being so scared lolol idk
not entirely sure how it works but I’ll go ahead and headcanon that Frey and Susurrus are intertwined at the soul now. So what happens to Frey happens to him. So if she dies he goes with her.
I've been playing around with this sketch on and off for a bit and decided I should probably post what I have so far before I get too carried away. Anyway, I want to eventually draw some fantasy tack/barding which means I need to design some fantasy mounts, which is perfect because I need mounts for the particular worldbuilding I'm doing at the moment.
So these are actually one of several types of magic constructs geared towards transportation, and their look is unique to the kingdom they are made by. This type comes from a desert-y kingdom with a lot of bird imagery and wind magic. And a lot of sand. I couldn't decide if I wanted hooves or bird feet, then went for large vaguely bird feet so they would have a better chance at not sinking.
