Hi, wanted to share the story of I became a Larry :)

Last year, Spotify randomly played If I Could Fly while my partner and I were chilling at home. I wasn't a Harry or Louis fan as such. And with the whole Wilde thing going on, no one wanted to be a Harry fan tbh.

Anyway, we had a moment and the song was so beautiful that it stayed with me. So, did a search for a live performance and found Harry singing it at Madison Garden in 2018. And just the pauses and looks made me so curious. I listened to other live performance and all the pauses and looks were the same. Did some research about the pause, which wasn't there in the original, and realised it's before Louis' part. I think that moment was like such a shock, definitely sent me down the rabbit hole.

I just think there is no other explanation for the long pauses and the extra heartfelt singing only for Louis' part other than the most obvious one. Just saying. Don't know why people want "proof"

you know what pushed me into looking into larry? the songs. because i started out as a solo louis fan by stumbling across his music and went "wow if his music is so cool i should probably check out the others too" and i happened to start with harry. i didn't go album by album, i just checked out songs on YouTube and when i reached fine line and "i get the feeling that you'll never need me again" i was like now wait a minute, this sounds familiar 🤡 and fell down the rabbit hole

way back when, sometime after I finished my first playthrough of pokemon scarlet, I brought back some of my old OCs and completely re-made them because the brainrot reached critical mass...

didn’t wanna take the student route so I made my OCs academy faculty members instead (librarians)!

Their names are Raine and Fatima. Raine is a Contest Coordinator hopeful and Fatima is a Dark-type specialist who wants to become a trainer again after previously retiring.

Raine is one of my oldest OCs ever, so I really wish I could have done her justice and made more art for her, especially by completing her full-body ref. My chronic pain won yet again..

Hello, here is my question what is your Larry origin story, how you became part of the fandom?

Hello,

I would love to answer this because it's hilariously convoluted.

So in 2012, I was a 16 year old with budding anxiety and needed something to obsess over. I started reading fanfiction from a couple different alternative rock groups, My Chemical Romance- so Ferrard, and 30 Seconds to Mars -before Jared went weird and culty.

Eventually I would read various sickfics, ending up reading a couple of the original One Direction sickfics. At the time I had no clue about the difference between Louis and Liam.

That lead to me actually looking up One Direction funny videos, wanted to figure who was who. From that I ended up hearing more of Up All Night and the singles from Take Me Home. At that point I mostly knew WMYB which played on the radio a lot and wasn't my favorite as a alternative kid.

I fell in love with One Direction while watching them act like chaos demons. I then began reading some of the larry fics and watching the videos. I ultimately became a Larrie after reading the following fic, one I go back and read pretty often. This is one of my most favorites.

From there I kept reading Larry fics and fell in love with all of the boys. I didn't join Tumblr until 2013 during I think May. I've been a lurker for years watching everything until recently.

See the thing is, i thought they were together and out before i came into the fandom. So...

Here is what happened:

It's august 2012. I've just finished watching the gay storyline of a german (or austrian) soap series on YouTube. I also just finished watching the american version of Queer as Folk over the summer. So i start searching for fan videos of Brian/Justin and the german (or austrian) couple. And i happened upon a video with both couples in, which also included other gay (fictional) couples. Suddenly there is two good looking guys i kind of recognise. It was a video of this moment:

And i go "Oh, isn't that two of the guys from that band from the X-factor UK?" (I had watched a couple of episodes of that season of txf, but barely remembered 1D. I remembered Rebecca, Cher Lloyd, Katie, even Wagner and Mary lol). And then i thought "How cool that they are together and out! They look so good together and seem to not care about showing the world! I fucking love that!"

(First mistake) So naturally i googled to find their names and then i put "Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson" into the YouTube search bar. First hit was "Larry Stylinson - Won't stop until we surrender" by Monitchka (now best known as the Larry bible). And i was shocked. They're not out? But it's so clear they are gay and together???? They're being kept apart and closeted? But it's 2012, it's okay to be gay?? Oh helllll noooo!

(Second mistake) I googled "Larry Stylinson gay". Wound up on bromanceshowmance on tumblr (Lisa). Read up on everything i could, didn’t sleep for a week. I was now obsessed. It was the injustice, the forced closeting and the two cute guys in love that had me hyperfixated. It didn’t hurt that the music was catchy (I'd of course heard WMYB on the radio before this, but didn’t connect it to 1D from txf) and the banter between all the bandmates was addicting. I guess i never turned back after that.

So to answer your question, i did the opposite of what's normal. I thought they were gay before i knew anything about them. Because that's how it was presented to me. I didn't question it because they acted like a infatuated, young and in love couple who clung to each other and touched each other when they had the chance. So why would i?

What solidified it for me, and still to this day shows me they're in love, is the way they both speak about each other and to each other. It's so different to how they speak to the other 1D members and other people. It's so soft and with so much care and reverence. Their voice changes, the tone, volume and pitch. They sort of do it with a smile on their face. They can't hide it even if they tried.

calling myself a former rpf fan is so misleading bc “fiction” had nothing to do with it. even when i did read fic i was never even all that into it and i didn’t really get much out of it it was ALL about reading those primers and manifestos and analyzing lyrics and watching videos/interviews/etc

#and i can say yeah i don’t read rpf anymore. which is true. #but that doesn’t mean i don’t still wholeheartedly believe that a lot of this stuff Happened <3 #for the record i was really into phan and ryden and then larry #and to a lesser extent petekey i liked reading all the lore but i didn’t Post as often abt them or engage w as much content i guess #i was never as deep into mcr at the time idk why it did take me longer to get into them overall #anyway while i am largely not comfortable reading rpf anymore it’s also partly to do with like #i think as a category of fic it’s very limited and i just never enjoyed it #bc it can never be ‘in character’ bc they. aren’t characters. #and we don’t know them so there is no right or wrong way to write anyone so it’s all about who we imagine them to be #and it becomes very much like projecting fan images into their personal lives #fanfic engages with the original text but what happens when there is no text to engage with. well it’s boring. #you can’t explore characters when the characters are real people with real lives #all this to say i have a fondness for throam BECAUSE it is so far removed and such an original universe #(and open about making all the side characters not based on who the band members they used were really like) #that i just enjoy it as a story. and i think it draws on real life details in interesting ways while ultimately creating original characters #it’s not like a literary masterpiece but i do enjoy it and think about revisiting it often. it’s been years i wonder if i’d #like it this much now. #anyway it is 4:30 in the morning and for some reason i can’t stop rambling about this #r.txt

Sabine, same here. My Larrie origin story also had the same beginning as yours. Although I knew of one direction before and was a fan too, not a die-hard kinda fan, but I did like their music. I reckon Louis and H should really sue the YouTube algorithm for infesting the general population with their blue-green mould. Louis and H should really settle their scores with the YouTube guys because more than half the larrie population has fell down this hole through it.

Ace x Family: Mission P1: the rest of Part 1 

I’ve decided to change from posting 3 spreads at a time to trying to post in chunks that move enough of the action along, that they can feel a little narrative, we’ll see how that goes. So this contains spreads 4 through 13, which takes us up through the point that was the end of the canon class trial, but is actually the beginning of the real class trial. (Now I just have to finish writing the script for the trial itself!) Accessibility note: If you’re using assistive tech and need text descriptions of the images, because there is so much to describe as each image is a full 2 page manga spread, I am cross publishing in 3 image chapters to AO3 with full descriptions as the chapter text vs trying to fit it into alt text ui. Standing reminder: these follow standard manga reading direction flow of right to left.

Some random comments:

-Ryuunosuke gets flustered by Van Zieks’ state of undress, but then totally forgets he’s in his underpants while Barok tries to pretend he’s totally normal about him.

-You know what Chekhov said about backpack mice and plays?

-The objection page is I think my favourite thus far (outside of the dossier 3 shot) it kind of feels like if this were a real comic book it would be the pullout poster in the center.

-I love everyone’s little exchange with Larry when he abruptly about faces when it’s clear Miles is defending Phoenix, which fortunately is in character for his Eden academy counterpart, and I needed to do in order to have both Edgeworth and him utter their anime dialogue as a part of this.

-Not me kinning Edgeworth and projecting that impulsive desk-jumping fit of pique orating that then four seconds later turns into remembering one is introverted and doesn’t want to be the attention focus and like ‘ why and I on a desk and how did I get up on top of it?’

-The reason Gumshoe is wearing a blue uniform is because Themis doesn’t have police track so there isn’t a colour, they do have the judging track which is green, but that is only open once you get into the upper grades (mainly this was because I don’t want too many uniform colours) so I decided to assign uniform colours to non-prosecution/defense attorney characters based on whether I thought the reason they decided to get into law enforcement was because of a desire to help people and victims (blue) or a desire to punish bad guys (red) since those kind of align with defense and prosecutors. Except Larry who is red because of his position in Miles’ posse.

-Poor Franziska, Von Karma is dumping the same abusive self-worth issues on her in this universe too.

-I don’t think it end up being clear here, but Dad is what Miles thinks of Gregory as. (For him Father is Von Karma and Dad is Gregory, for Franziska Father is Von Karma and Your Father is Gregory she can’t bring herself to be casual or fond enough to use dad or papa especially after Gregory disappeared.) (For Phoenix, Papa is Barok and Dad is Ryuu)

-I now headcanon (though I guess that makes it canon for my own AU :)) that Gumshoe is a big fan of Columbo because he doesn’t realise that the rumpled, bumbling, scatter-brained persona is a ruse to make people underestimate him and it gives him the confidence to follow his detective dreams.

So I was thinking a "how I joined the fandom" poll (all of these apply to both the band and any of the boys' solo stuff, except ofc the xfactor and larry one), with choices like

my larrie origin story: after the otra larry hug two school friends started talking about larry and their opinions (I don't remember at all what their opinions where). I was curious what they were talking about and decided to look it up after school. I completely ended up forgetting to do that. in july 2016 I was bored and randomly remembered that. I decided to look them up on yt and stumpled upon FIMQ their vids. I ended up watching all (no joke) their vids that week. ever since that day I'm a larrie and a directioner

like I said before, I work on random bursts of ideas and when I end up burnt out or stumped, I kinda just stop abruptly. so that's what happened to the little mermaid/VT thing, I've wanted to make a concluding concept for a bit but my procrastination issues are funny and frustrating. so it's a very hesitant "no" as of right now
