this is such a minor detail but i love how marian always has the last piece of the puzzle that the russels need to make their plans work. in season 1 she tells george about his secretary's real name which saves his ass in court. in season 2 she tells larry that mr. mcallister is the one who bought off the duke which helps bertha strike back and secure him. paired with the fact that she was one of the few people who was supportive of them from the start i just feel like she already fits into their family so well <3

Why I Believe Larry Is Real

It’s been a long time since I’ve done one of my opinion essays. This week I was asked to justify my belief that Larry is real, and that Harry and Louis are together. It feels like it’s time.

I’ve thought about how to reply to the demand, which came from someone on X (formerly Twitter). I cannot compel someone who isn’t inclined to believe in Larry to suddenly change their mind. If someone doesn’t want to interpret the signs the same way I do, that’s their prerogative. But that said, I decided to give some thought about how to answer the question. 

I’ve been inspired by IndiaAlphaWhiskey and her recent reply to a similar question. I loved the way she answered by talking about long term love and how it’s steady and doesn't need to have a lot of fireworks visible from the outside. It’s hard to put that into words that make sense to someone who hasn’t witnessed it. Here’s her original reply:

The reality is we do not have solid proof that they were or - as I believe - still are in a relationship. Nor should we. H&L are closeted celebrities who keep their private life private. They are closeted, so you won’t see them admitting to being in a relationship in interviews; that would defeat the point of being closeted. In fact, you may think you’ve heard them outright deny being together. Again, if you’re not looking at the clues, and you only want to take this at face value, you’re not going to see any other possible narrative. Full stop. If that’s the case, you’re not going to agree with me, and that’s fine.

I can list out a hundred things that, to me, are coded messages H&L have signaled to either us or to each other. You can debunk/deny/laugh-out-loud at all of them, if you want. You might call something coincidence or debunk one or more of these pieces. And yes, there are things out there that aren’t true, that are completely coincidence or debatable – or wildly unbelievable.

I get that. In fact, I have a whole thread of debunks on my Twitter bio. My debunk thread focuses on factual, hard-proof debunks to help veterans and newcomers keep the story straight.

But there are a hundred more things that are real. Or at least open to interpretation. At some point, it becomes really, really unlikely that everything is a coincidence over the last decade, and you have to admit that H&L are in collaboration with their messaging. For me, once you admit they are in collaboration in their messaging, it doesn’t take a huge leap to believe they are together romantically. Why else would their teams coordinate messaging to the media and the masses?

Harry even said, in 2022, “There’s not many [clues and tidbits] that get left behind. Most of the time, they usually pick up on pretty much everything, along with a couple of hilarious coincidences that were never meant to be, never meant to be kind of clues in the first place that happen… end up being clues.”

You don’t have to believe any of it. I’m fine with that. But because you don’t believe it, doesn’t mean I’m not completely, unwavering, solidly adamant in my own belief that it’s real. Especially if you’re not providing any evidence to sway my beliefs.

Here’s what I think: I think Harry and Louis met and fell in love during X-Factor in 2010, began dating, and continued to fall while on the X-Factor tour and the recording of the first single and album. I believe they made it official in 2011. Over the years, they went through hard times through career changes, loss of family members, solo career ups and downs, differences in career trajectory, doubts and fears, and then the pandemic. I believe they weathered all that and are together and committed to this day. 

I think they live a private life and have no intention of coming out or going public any time soon. Harry said to Rolling Stone last year that he hasn’t publicly “been with anyone.” I also think, even though they are determined to stay private, they like the idea of some fans knowing and supporting them. Seeing their true, authentic selves. So, they’ve gotten good at messaging their truth to fans who want to see it and support it. 

Due to industry pressure and 'image' clauses in their contract, I think they were encouraged by record execs and management to keep their relationship quiet, but rebelled (as teenagers, young adults, and fools in love will do) by insinuating double meanings in interviews and signaling to those in the know ever since. 

I think the signaling started in One Direction days when fans began to pick up on the signs they gave each other - the secret looks, the thumbs up, their complementary tattoos. 

When they saw fans remaining loyal, despite the idea they might be gay/queer and together, the signals turned more outward and louder, with Harry’s blue bandana, lyrics, the rainbow bears, and more. I think it continues today with graphic t-shirts, even more lyrics, matching merch, intentional mirroring in stage lighting and costumes, and more. 

Evidence Larry are together Now

Understand that there’s no solid “proof” that H&L are together now. So, if that’s what you’re here looking for, you won’t find it. They are closeted still, both portraying a heterosexual narrative in the media.

My lens (admittedly biased) is that they are together and hint to us, but that most of what they do these days is for each other. Little inside jokes from across the world or across the room to show they are together. Despite them being separated for work a lot, I believe these little nods to each other helps keep their connection healthy and strong across the time apart.

What follows is a small sampling of what I think is intentional messaging from H&L, meant to suggest to those following that they are still together. Nothing is a proof. Nothing by itself is anything more than coincidence. But taken together, these along with other examples, show two men who are speaking through their actions, in my humble opinion.

They have strikingly similar patterns in their merch for FITF and HSLOT.

Harry drew H and L on his trainers on May 10, 2022 on a pap walk in Italy.

They both had really intentional blue/green stage lights at their shows. For anyone who doesn’t know, blue and green were their respective assigned colors when they were in One Direction. Certainly not a proof on its own but coupled with other things adds to the intentionality.

So there you have it. I could obviously go on for quite a bit, with many more examples, but I think this is a pretty good sampling. i'm trying to understand why there is this assumption that bertha will disapprove marian as her daughter in law. i know there's a lot of talk about larian being some kind of romeo and juliet, but even though bertha and agnes dispises each other, bertha never disliked marian actually it was quite the opposite. the only thing that could make bertha disaprove their union is that marian is peniless, but her position in society (coming from a old money family with a lot of conections) is more importan since larry is already rich (also marian is probably ada's heir now she isn't poor anymore). anyway to close this off carrie coon already said recently that bertha even admires marian sense of independency. so we don't know what will happen but until now there's no reason to think that bertha will be against their marrige

Before I go, I guess I have a few questions...

Can't help but wonder when this happened and how exactly Tae agreed to marry JK after JK sucked on his soulmate's ear and tattooed his soulmate's name on his hand.

Was it before or after Tae's soulmate sucked on JK's neck and JK, his husband then already (?) paraded said hickey around for all to see, caressing it so lovingly and proudly?

Kind of wondering how this marriage is working back in 2020-21 with JK and JM living together.

So, Taekook married while JK is keeping on holding JM?

This one, TKK being married for 3 years is a new one. Well, sorry, I lie. Not first time I've heard the marriage story. The 3 years is new. The level of delusion here is wow, hard to describe. The story I heard was of marriage in LV, adoption of 2 little American kids, living with Tae at home. Sorry, with Taekook at Tae's. These beautiful children they adopted in LV and are now raising together.

So yeah, there's that level of delusion.

Now with Taenni out and public we have new stories.

We have the denial, of course, with the stories about cosplayers, all disproven (these fuckers stooped so low they stole a woman's photos claiming her to be the Jenni cosplayer only for her to go public about it).

And then you have those that are still towing the line and claiming it's all a publicity stunt.

Cause yep, the 2 super popular idols in the 2 biggest Kpop bands in the world need to have a supposed relationship to boost either of their popularity and help their careers.

Fucking morons.

a. Seriously? These two need that to boost their publicity. These two rival companies working hand in hand to create this fake relationship going on for over 18 months to what? Have Tae go from 58.8 million followers to 58.9 million. Talk about a failure of such an elaborate plan... Lest we forget about the hate Jenni has been getting all this time from TKKs all this time. Definitley a publicity stunt.

b. I'm infuriated at how ignorant these people are. Because with even minimal understanding of Kpop culture they would know that for an idol to go public with a relationship there is a price to pay. Idols don't have the right to have private lives. They don't have the right to have relationships, especially not in the prime of their success. the very few who had gone public with their relationships in the past had done so before marriage. They apologised for having a personal life.

Moon Hee Jun, Taeyang, Chen, Bobby.

The fact that there are so few of them should be an indicator as how this really is not a career helping move.

Having a personal life, being in a relationship, being emotionally unavailable for your fans is not a publicity stunt in Kpop. It can be a career killer. And even if it doesn't kill the career, it definitley does not promote it, quite the opposite in the short run.

And Tae, well he's already paying a price. We already saw all the angry fan messages about how they were betrayed by him, about how he's supposed to be theirs. Putting him together with JK is an easy fix, it's not realistic, it keeps him available for them (well in their twisted minds).

So yeah, definitely not a publicity stunt.

And then you have those that are turning on him. Well on the whole maknae line, because why not? Why not bring JK and JM in on this if you can (especially JM, right)?

The ones that are mad that he is in an actual relationship with another woman, the scorned.

The ones that are now angry claiming the maknae line were queerbaiting.

Like wtf?

How in the fucking hell were TKK queerbaiting?

Real genuine affection for the others? Yes.

Fanservice? Heck yeah.

Tae is the king of fanservice and teasing and flirting with the members. He loooooves it. And some play along more than others. As a matter of fact JK is one of those that plays along the least. But again, TKKs lack the brain capacity to watch original content and see that.

The hugs and affection and closeness isn't put on. It's genuine.

As for JM and JK, well they aren't fucking queerbaiting. They are just literally f***ing.

When Taenni did this, went public (and again, this was their choice of doing, walking hand in hand by the Saines river, identifiable managers walking 5 steps behind, Tae stopping to give autographs to fans),

I knew this would come back to hit us too. But you know what? I don't mind it. I love Tae and Jenni for this. They are very brave, both could pay a price for it. Tae is literally telling us all, the industry and the fans, that his personal life takes precedent. I love him for that.

We talk about BTS being the trailblazers, and this is the start of it....I hope.

I understand why people speculate about Bertha's reaction to Larian, because Bertha has been the one who has proved herself to be meddlesome when it comes to her children's love lives so far, but honestly the one who could end being an real obstacle to them is Agnes. I was rewatching s2ep1 today and Agnes is so snobbish towards the Russells that she doesn't even condescend to wish them a happy Easter when she comes across them in church. I am not saying it's certain that Bertha isn't going to disapprove of the match as well, but I think we can expect Agnes to have an equally, if not more, adverse reaction to Larry/Marian.

“They’re wonky,” Louis frowned. 

“I’m sure those flowers’ll be the last thing on Harry’s mind right now.”

Louis stood in front of his mirror, anxiously smoothing down the lapels of his jacket, He glanced out of the window, eyes roving over the expanse of green. If he squinted, he could just make out the spot by the thicket of pine.

The spot where they were going to get married. He felt his stomach twist with excitement, but all of it was tinged with an irrational fear of someone somehow finding out. He was loath to accept the fact that he could never acknowledge the union, let alone dream of actually being somewhere with him, out. 

But they didn’t need a piece of paper from the city hall or the church. 

They were in love. And all the people that mattered to them knew and supported them. What more could Louis ask for?

Louis stood at the top of the staircase with Niall, going over his vows one last time. They had written their own, and he absolutely did not want to forget a word. 

Niall was a good lad. He had met him when he had been to Ireland on a hunting trip with some cousins of his that he never wanted to go to in the first place. Looking back now, he was grateful he did. 

He had met Niall at the pub, and they had fallen into an easy conversation. When Louis had mentioned a vacancy at the local newspaper one of his friends owned, Niall had jumped at the chance. He had moved to London shortly after, renting out a place close to him and Louis couldn’t have been more glad for the company.

He was one of the first people who wasn’t family whom they had trusted with his and Harry’s relationship. He had contacts with the local police for his work, and while Harry had been hesitant, it was a risk Louis had been willing to take. He had grown to trust Niall completely.

Niall had taken a bit of time to get used to it, to accept it (it had been an intense few days, Louis nearly jumping out of his skin whenever someone knocked at his door). Still, he had come around fully, even putting forward ideas for an underground newsletter he could help write for. 

“You have got to stop fiddlin’ wit’ those,” Niall snapped, swatting his hand away from the posy of lavenders in his breast pocket. 

“They’re wonky,” Louis frowned. 

“I’m sure those flowers’ll be the last thing on Harry’s mind right now.” Niall pursed his lips, cracking a small smile when Louis nodded back, “Okay now, one last time, then we’ll head out,”

Louis rushed across the lawn, skirting puddles formed by the rain overnight. The sky was a clear and dazzling blue now, though, and Louis hoped it would stay that way. 

He rushed to hug his sisters, who were setting up the chairs. All of them expressed their excitement for Harry and him, and he knew he was lucky to have a family like this, all of it, and felt tears welling up. He had to hold back from breaking down completely, feeling like iron bands were tightening around his chest when they brought up their mum.

He missed her terribly. He still remembered the day he had told her about Harry when she was proposing his debut into London society. Much like the rest of the people they had told, she had been quick at putting aside her initial prejudices, accepting and supporting him, even going as far as to make them all skip sermon where the preacher was to talk about the fate that met the ‘homosexuals’ despite her receiving flak for it from the neighbours afterward.

All the memories came flooding back, making the moment bittersweet. He regretted that she wasn’t here, that she couldn’t give them her blessing, but Louis was grateful she had gotten to meet Harry and had grown to love him. He had to hold on to the good times, that’s what she would have wanted.

He gently drew away, going to greet the rest of the lads, thanking them effusively for their help. It was by no means an official ceremony, but they could still get in trouble if word was to somehow get out. All of them were putting themselves at risk just being there, and Louis was once again hit by a wave of gratitude.

They had debated about wheeling about the piano from the parlor, Harry refusing point blank to attract any unnecessary attention, even though the estate spanned more area than any neighbor’s ears possibly could.

He was regretting giving in to Harry right now. Watching him walk down the row between the chairs, the small handful of guests smiling at him, arm interlinked with Anne’s. He would have given anything to have Mendelssohn’s notes floating up as he took Harry’s hand, smiling at Anne. 

He took in the lavenders tucked into his breast pocket, mirroring his own, wanting to say something but feeling like the words were stuck in his throat. He truly was speechless. 

His smile widened as Niall came forward with the open ring boxes, metal glinting in the sunlight. 

Harry was going to be his husband.

Louis really couldn’t ask for anything more.

I'm not worried at all. Here's the thing, if you believe they are closeted (by choice or by contract), then there is no way he can say anything but what he said (the non-denial denial). If there's any truth AT ALL to Larry (past and/or present) and they are not coming out, then he can't say anything. There's literally no other option. Full stop.

He never actually says it's not real. Just that the speculation irritates him. If you really look at the word choices he makes, he never actually denies the relationship.

I'm sure there are a lot of speculations that aren't true so I could see where that could get annoying. The speculation about his very real relationship must get annoying. The conspiracies people make up about his very real relationship has to be maddening when he can't set the record straight. So that's not a lie.

And that it's an edited video only adds to the conspiracy about the way he talks about it.

Not actually denying that there IS a relationship is what makes it murky. I think it's more of protection of his relationship. Maybe we're about to get a HS/TR BUA and Harry's about to do something. Who knows? I do believe H is fully aware of this strategy - but look, it's been picked up by every major entertainment outlet. Which they had to have known would happen - and now, shazam, lots of people researching Larry Stylinson.

Regarding the new interview coming up. I think it's been misconstrued. I really don't think we are going to get anything more about his personal life. There's no reason to say it again. For whatever reason, he said what he said. It's better than a stunt and doesn't require him to do any pap walks.

Just remember, if you believe he's closeted (and I do), and he's not ready to come out (or H isn't ready), then he can't admit Larry is real.

you gotta make some of the mii female. i have a mod that uses they/them pronouns for every mii and just groups miis into A or B (originally being male and female). it’s not really a proper fix and maybe if i looked a little deeper i could find the true gay tomodachi life mod but it’s the best fix i could find.
