Magic roundabout
The magic Roundabout was created in 1963 by Frenchman. It was originally called Le Manege Enchante (The Enchanted Merry go round). Danot wrote the programme before teaming with the Englishman, in 1964 in to complete and produce the original French series. When the first 11 episode got sold they found out that they had a huge hit on their hands so they quickly turned their attention to England. When they offered the programme to the BBC they got rejected because it was to difficult to dub into English. But in 1965 they Beeb finally agreed to buy the series.
However it was said that the viewers may have discovered certain similarities to 1960s drug culture and references to topical issue and personalities of the day.
Dougal’s favourite food was sugar cubes which pointed out, when laced with LSD is a popular way of taking the hallucinatory drug.
Dylan always appeared ‘spaced out’ and has been accused of growing something considerably stronger then carrots in his vegetable garden.
This was a TV programme for children, which I probably don't really believe that it had drugs involved. However this was made in the 60s which doesn't really make any better the situation, as the numbers of drugs use started to increase around the time. In th 60s is known as the pre-psychedelic era, so this tv show is most likely to have drugs involved or at least hinting at it.
This has some similarities involved with my work because of the fact that the magic roundabout itself is best to known to ‘take a trip’ so it kind of as some similarities with my work with the fact that my characters would be ‘taking a trip’ to the 80s after taking a drug. Making them also have superpowers. So the drug use as a very big impact with the whole project itself.

i dug into the doogal lore and ‘doogal’ is an american renamed and redubbed version of ‘the magic roundabout’ .. the British release of the movie .. which is based off a stop motion tv show from the 70s .. which took all of its footage from a French show le manege enchante, but didn’t follow the original plots at all and renamed the characters .. ANYWAY doogal🇺🇸/dougal🇬🇧/ pollux🇫🇷 is the cutest little stop motion puppet I’ve ever seen and now I’m just mad they made that movie cgi. Let him look like this
