I know this is not a pop-oriented blog, but I have so much love and respect for Britney Spears. To write such a candid autobiography full of traumatic, painful experiences from her past while going through a divorce and dealing with the public still acting like she's "crazy" and belongs back under her abusive conservatorship takes guts. There is no doubt in my mind that people will read this and either (a) make jokes about it (hell, people are already making horrible jokes about her abortion revelation), or (b) use it as some kind of "evidence" that she really does need to be in a conservatorship again.

Regardless of the celebrity status or public figure status of a person, healing from trauma takes time and it's often not linear. Oftentimes too, it's messy. When you're a public figure trying to heal from trauma, some of that mess is going to be visible and I have no doubt that Britney is constantly aware of this. She can't even post goofy dance videos on Instagram without people getting vicious in the comments or spreading rumors about her mental state. The peanut gallery wants her to fail. They want her to essentially remain an indentured servant at the mercy of the public. She refuses to do that again. I hope she refuses up until the day she dies.
