Throwback to the 90’s. Missing this lookout spot, yes, this is the spot where you can see the viaduct on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Fun Fact: the last hike I took to this spot with my family was in middle school. We told Papa Nieme to sit this one out because it’s really rocky, he did not have good balance anymore. He decided to defy us and on the way back, my brother, cousins Vince, and Felicia hiked ahead of our parents and found Papa Nieme at the precise spot we knew he couldn’t hike. His arm was bloody. We asked him what happened. Turns out he thought he could do the trail, so he hiked on by himself, at that point where we found him, he slipped on a rock and fell, he luckily grabbed onto a tree and somehow pulled himself up from falling down the mountain and that spot there is a literal drop. Our parents caught up to us and were not happy, we went back to the rangers station and the ranger bandaged him up while he flirted with her. The next day he went white water rafting with us with a garbage bag duck taped around his bandages. The guides couldn’t believe it. So I've been meaning to start featuring the lesser known, hidden gems of America, but I've been putting this off for the past 2 years. I had always wanted to start with this specific city, and a 4-year anniversary of the day I visited gave me enough reason to finally get to it. Asheville has to be one of the most random places that I had not planned or prepared myself to discover. Located in the middle of nowhere in midst of North Carolina, what was offered to us was this pleasant surprise of a quaint little town surrounding by breathtakingly beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, where this photo was captured at. One wouldn't have expected so much art, culture and history to be present and displayed in an unknown city such as this, but what was in store truly blew me away. And not to mention the amazing scenery you got to witness during the drive there. Linn Cove Viaduct is actually one of the most scenic drives in the Eastern part of the US. I wish I had taken better photos while I was there, but this is the best I got upon scavenging my library. Needless to say, it doesn't do justice to what Asheville is. What it really is, is something that you're going to have to discover on your own. _ There, finally got this mini writing project up and running.
