the undertones of incest (violation, blurred lines of roles, etc.) in interview with the vampire (2022) are interesting to me. it's a young teen girl trying desperately to forge her own private sphere in this house where she was created for the purpose of gluing her two makers together. lestat lying in her coffin (ie: bed) and violating the most private space in her room, reading her diary (her most private thoughts), and feeling that she threatened his place as louis' spouse. it all started with him taking her to a lover's lane together, and then spiraled into him competing with her for the place beside louis. the daughter and the wife fighting for the father's affection. and this all goes hand in hand with claudia in the book becoming basically louis' partner, his companion, the love of his life. i wonder if they will include madeleine in the show and how she was used basically as a surrogate for claudia to be with louis, while also replacing lestat's unfilled mother position.
